@Westy22 I'd be raging as well, get him telt as we say here in Scotland πŸ˜‚
I'm trying to get my dh to read info or watch videos about c section and recovery because I don't want it all be on me to instruct him, I want him to feel prepared to look after me because I know I'll need him to! I'm a massive researcher and planner though and he's not - with everything, not just pregnancy stuff- so I expect he'll suddenly get interested the night before the section. It's frustrating me that he's not engaging with it yet but I shouldn't be surprised.
I'll join the club hoping it might not be af for you after all Westy....

@SnookyPook we booked a gender scan at 16 weeks as 20w scan felt too far away, I'm glad we did. It was more for reassurance than finding out the sex at that stage but it was also nice to learn he's a boy. No prizes for endurance, if you're struggling with the wait til 20w just book one!

@Jadeypie very glad you're feeling positive, hope the rest of the tww goes in fast and you can hold onto that feeling

Supertrooper101 · 03/02/2024 13:42

@Jadeypie thats a good feeling to have, hope it means somthing πŸ™‚ same with you @Westy22 , i bet ur confused as hell right now lol
What will this nipt tell me that the standard ones wouldnt? Just more of a heads up sooner rather than later kind of thing? 400pds alpt of m9ney. They certainly know how to get rich of vulnarable ppl dont they!

Jadeypie · 03/02/2024 13:59

@Supertrooper101 I just think a standard one is all you need really unless you feel you need reassurance more or somthing with the expensive ones which surly tell you what the nhs one do. I duno I just went with the flow with my first I didn't even get private scans or anything but then I was naive and didn't have worrys back then xx

SnookyPook · 03/02/2024 14:12

@Hankthehonk this is very true! Also realised I've basically been having fortnightly scans up until this point so 2 months is going to feel looooong!!

@Jadeypie I was the same with my first! How I miss that naive optimism!!

Sez281 · 03/02/2024 16:58

@Supertrooper101 I'm currently lying with my legs in the air for 10 mins waiting for the cyclogest to "absorb" as I forgot to take it this morning πŸ™ˆ

You're right, some of the tests are ridiculously expensive and almost seem exploitative of vulnerable people πŸ˜•. The 9 week NIPT here is €460 so not far off what @SnookyPook said, I'm pretty sure it's free for over 40s but I could be wrong, I think I'll definitely get it if I make it that far just because of my age and the fact that I've no children πŸ™.

Awww I totally get why that date would be such a milestone for you. I was 8+3 for d&c but it had stopped growing around 5+6 they think. Hopefully the time before that scan passes quickly xx

@Jadeypie that's great that you're officially 4dpo, and feeling positive. I can only imagine how frustrating the not knowing has been. Fingers crossed for you 🀞 xx

@SnookyPook you won't know what to do with yourself over the next 2 months πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ You've so many positive changes and movements etc coming your way, so exciting πŸ₯°I

Supertrooper101 · 03/02/2024 18:34

@Sez281 i was 12wks at my dating scan when i found out. Am guessing you had a private scan to find it out? Ill ask about the over 40s privaliges i think lol i lay down after the cyclogest but it likes to seep out throught the day tho lol

Paws4thought · 03/02/2024 19:10

@Sez281 what is NIPT test for? My attitude is great in theory but I spent a few hours figuring out when I need to do overtime to get best maternity pay and planning my leave til I'm due, so much for not planning ahead πŸ™ˆ I think trying to stay positive is all we can really do
@Supertrooper101 doc said no to scan on nhs, not enough reason in my history for it so I'll pay private prob every couple of weeks til get to 12, worth it for peace of mind. Hopefully the scans leading up to your 9 weeks will help you be less nervous when you hit that milestone 🀞
@Westy22 think you should just start leaving sample pots wherever he sits til he gets it done πŸ˜‚
@SnookyPook oh wow 2 months will feel a long time, I like @Jadeypie idea of going at 16wks so find out sex then too.

A few times over last couple of days I've had a sharp stabbing pain where I'd assume my right ovary is, when standing up, as though I've stood up too quickly and its cramped. It only lasts a second or 2 then goes, think there's anything to worry about? Or is that normal?

Paws4thought · 03/02/2024 19:23

Oops it was @Hankthehonk that had scan at 16wks.
@Jadeypie glad you're feeling positive :)

Sez281 · 03/02/2024 19:41

@Paws4thought It's a blood test for chromosomal abnormalities and a few other things. Here's a link to a maternity hospital near me about it www.coombe.ie/prenatal-testing
I've had a few weird ovary area stabby pains too along with my normal cramps (which aren't as often now) I think it's very normal but yeah it's awful cos I keep checking down there and googling stuff 😣

I think it's ok to let our minds think of practical stuff like work leave etc, whilst we're not getting ahead of ourselves and taking each day as it comes it's nice to also imagine the "what if's" πŸ™ 🌈

@Supertrooper101 I was in and out of epau from week 6-8.3 as I had a bit of early spotting and cramps . Strangely that stopped soon after but was a while before they diagnosed the MMC.

The cyclogest can be taken the "other way" too and apparently there's no mess but I'm still doing it vaginally and trying to elevate legs after it or go to bed. If it keeps everything good down there I'll take the mess πŸ™ˆπŸ₯΄πŸ˜‚

Jadeypie · 03/02/2024 20:13

@Paws4thought totally normal don't worry just your ligaments ect. You will feel all kinds of twinges haha xx

Paws4thought · 03/02/2024 20:40

@Sez281 that's great thank you, I think the midwife said last time they'd do testing at 12 week scan. Ah that's reassuring thank you, I've also been on Google and dread everytime I wipe haha. Yeah true I guess might as well try to enjoy it a little as have no control of the outcome.
@Jadeypie that's great thanks, I had twinges last time but then wasn't sure if they were mmc signs, hopefully all normal twinges then πŸ˜€

Supertrooper101 · 03/02/2024 21:17

@Paws4thought i had stabbing pains like that in my right side twice when i turned and stretched quickly in bed.... i thought i may have caused the heamorrage by that πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.... thats not to alarm you tho! Things loosen so it is normal. Wait for sneezing....that hurts 🀣 i bloody dread it! Bit tight of your dr....isnt your own anixety and peace of mind not important? Couldnt you ask a different one? You have had a loss havent you? Isnt that reason enough?
Had a look at this nipt...google says since 2021 its as standard now. A combined test at 12wks..@SnookyPook you didnt have it though did you?
@Sez281 the tuther hole haha i cannot think of many things worse than feeling somthing seeping out of there 🀣 ill stick to the front bum lol
.

SnookyPook · 04/02/2024 00:23

@Supertrooper101 I had the combined testing. Nuchal Translucency in normal range but still waiting on bloods to come back (only done on Friday). Hopefully though the normal NT is a good sign. My understanding is that they offer the NIPT on NHS if your combined screening comes back as elevated risk. There's a few on my due date group who've had it and then further tests have shown everything is ok, even though the initial screen looked quite alarming.

Sez281 · 04/02/2024 07:58

@Supertrooper101 pmsl at front bum 🀣 A friend of mine found it too messy and swears by the back as nothing comes out apparently but I'll stick to front too πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ Are you still taking DHEA? I googled it and it said to stop taking it after a second positive test so I did. I'll have to ask my consultant if I was right to πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

OP posts:
Paws4thought · 04/02/2024 08:33

@Supertrooper101 oh no, hopefully haemorrhage is unrelated πŸ™ˆ I guess the private option is there so they don't see the need, if there's any concerns on any private I'll make a fuss to get nhs this time tho as it took over 3 weeks for private to decide it wasn't developing despite no hb at 8 weeks and me being sure of dates.

@SnookyPook I thought the combined testing was the same as NIPT, so much to learn haha.

Supertrooper101 · 04/02/2024 09:10

@Sez281 i use srick it up your arse as a saying, not literally lol eh eh not happening. And plus, i would probably need to poop as soon as it was shoved up lol well the dhea.....i didnt know and couldnt get a straight answer of google only that it is afterall a hormone and the last thing i wanted was to mess them up so decided to do one every other day until further notice lol same with coq10. Wasnt sure on that. Surely its still benificial.
@Paws4thought thats abit poor service from a private place. I still think your drs being tight. The heomorrage thing can b anything from uterus trauma to previous kids, nothing says standing up quickly or stretching so i think ur good lol @SnookyPook am plsd you wrote that that things may still be ok even if initial tests look bad x

SnookyPook · 04/02/2024 09:21

@Supertrooper101 yeah it's so easy to get worried about numbers isn't it. But even a 1 in 4 chance you have it is 3 in 4 that you don't!

Supertrooper101 · 04/02/2024 14:21

@SnookyPook i can remember with my two so were going back 16 &10 yrs, that was a basic scan and then you would get a letter through the post and it was based on the fluid and your age, that was it am sure there was no blood test.. and back then over 30 was old and high risk πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€£...so this test now is more than we got back then lol

Paws4thought · 04/02/2024 17:40

@Supertrooper101 I didn't really push the Dr but they tend to say 2 miscarriages in a row is unlikely even though these forums prove otherwise. Yeah I think private place wanted to be sure but it just dragged it out and nhs then did their own assessment anyway. How are you feeling? Do you have many symptoms?

Hankthehonk · 05/02/2024 01:06

I updated the other day to say my c section was booked for 20th -- well, baby had other plans.

After a day of increasing pain my waters went at 9pm. I'll be taken down for my section at 7am.

It feels so strange that I'll meet him in a matter of hours. Labour isn't progressing and hopefully it stays that way since he's breech.

I'm 37+3 and quickly getting past the shock of not having a couple of weeks to rest and get organised! Wish me luck

Sez281 · 05/02/2024 06:27

Oh wow @Hankthehonk I'd say it's a rollercoaster of emotions! πŸ₯°How amazing that he's going to be here in a matter of hours! πŸ™ŒThe very best of luck with it all 🩡 xxx

Paws4thought · 05/02/2024 07:20

@Hankthehonk good luck, can't wait for your next update πŸ˜€

xxcxdonxx · 05/02/2024 07:47

Oh wow @Hankthehonk he is clearly desperate to meet you!
Enjoy all of those newborn snuggles πŸ₯°

Jadeypie · 05/02/2024 08:02

@Hankthehonk awwww this is so so exciting!! Crnt wait to hear he's finally ere πŸ’™ xx

HopeAndStrength · 05/02/2024 08:04

Good luck today @Hankthehonk I hope it all goes smoothly for you. Take it easy with your recovery, lots of rest and fluids.

I was also popping in with news that my little man arrived at the weekend via an unplanned c section!

We are being well looked after, baby is in special care at the moment as his oxygen sats were dropping and they are treating him with antibiotics for a possible infection. He's so lovely, I can't believe he's real.
