TTC after early miscarriage

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@ThelastRolo20 what the hell how can they even put yout through that. That'd awful. Bless your heart xx

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 11:36

@miamiamia869 unfortunately it's just emergencies trumping it as I need the anaesthetic team 😔 just such a faff to organise as I can't drive myself and I need to be here before nursery opens so sorting my daughter etc. luckily husband is happy to do whatever but I'd really rather just get on with it today.

I'm starving! 😂

Claudiasaz · 23/01/2024 12:09

@ThelastRolo20 All the best for it hope it goes as well as can be. Xx

miamiamia869 · 23/01/2024 14:24

@ThelastRolo20 of course you would, nobody wants something like that prolonged. Hope they do get to see you today or if not today as soon as possible xx

miamiamia869 · 23/01/2024 14:30

Also someone mentioned about watching Georgia and Tommy baby steps. Ivr never warchedit so skipped straight to season 4 and 5 as it shows their journey with loss. Very sad of course but for me it kind of helps, seeing someone else's journey. If anyone thinks it's something they would be interested in seeing.

Also the week I misecsrried I watched "misscarriage" I think was on channell 4 or 5 on demand. Its a documentary of celebrities who have suffered loss/infertility. Everyone is differant but it did help me to feel more positive around it and have hope for the future.

Xx

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 15:54

Thanks everyone. Just woke up and having heat tastes like the best cup of tea and biscuits! I'm just so glad it's over, especially the anxiety and uncertainty..

Looking forward to three months off and trying again in April/ May. Going to try and pick up running again in the meantime to be positive

Blueskies4 · 23/01/2024 18:42

@ThelastRolo20 ah hope you managed to finally get seen? Xx

ThelastRolo20 · 23/01/2024 20:16

@Blueskies4 I did thank you. Back home having dinner and there's no pain or anything. Hoping all is sorted now and looking forward to a few months of not thinking about it all!

The long term career plan was to always retrain as a maths teacher so filling my time with relearning the curriculum in the hope of tutoring before making the jump! Got to act positively in these circumstances 🎉

Claudiasaz · 24/01/2024 00:18

@ThelastRolo20 so glad it went well.

As always great outlook! Would just say give yourself time to grieve too. It's a lot and you don't have to be strong all the time. Here always if you need to chat xx

ThelastRolo20 · 24/01/2024 07:54

@Claudiasaz thank you ❤️ I was going to log on today but my boss said no 😂

I think from seeing others posts it takes about 3 months for an egg to mature - which is good timing as I'm having 3 months off. I'm going to order some of those Q10 tablets or whatever they are as I see them mentioned. Does anyone else have any recommendations? I'm hesitant to take full on conception/ fertility vitamins as I've heard they can mess with cycles?

miamiamia869 · 24/01/2024 09:05

@ThelastRolo20 ahh you sound so positive, lovely to hear. Hope you are really feeling as okay as can be. Getting back running sounds great. I keep wanting to start something like this but i feel like I don't want too during thr 2ww and then feel pointless making all the effort for 2 weeks and stopping... I might start just doing light at home exercises or something I have no idea where to go with that but in your situation with having a little break fab idea.

Sorry I might sound stupid what do you mean about the egg maturing takes 3 months. Is that after a misscarriage?

No, my husband went out and bought us some conception tablets after the misscarrisge but I read some negativr things and we stopped. I am not sure if you have instagram but Luisa Zinnerman has a story about TTC and the advice she got what to take from her (can imagine very expensive) fertility doctor. I was going to order some the month I fell pregnant. I might have a look and think about getting some xx

ThelastRolo20 · 24/01/2024 09:55

@miamiamia869 not, apparently it takes three months for an egg to mature before getting released I think. So if you take vitamins to help egg quality they'll best take effect for the egg released in three months time.

That's what I've heard in any case - may be complete rubbish but I figure taking any supplements now and eating healthier won't do any harm! Hopefully will drop a couple of pounds before holiday too x

miamiamia869 · 24/01/2024 10:52

Oh yeah sorry I understand now. Yeah deffonstly won't do no harm. Extra vitamins along with healthy diet ect can only do good. And like you say will also help feel good in the bathers on holiday. The whole holiday getting fit for it will hopefully do you good. Something to focus on and occupy your mind.

Claudiasaz · 24/01/2024 18:52

@ThelastRolo20 I get it as work weirdly helps right but take the time away ❤️

I just take pregnacare to be honest. I've never tried anything else so not the best person with vitamins x

mumsince2021 · 25/01/2024 11:24

I hope you're all doing ok? I really wish everyone was getting good news and we had no more losses it's just heartbreaking but I'm glad we are keeping positive here!

My happy news for this month is actually just the fact I've now reached cycle day 25! I'm not pregnant as my tests have been negative but I'm just so chuffed to have finally got a cycle that's not stupidly short. It might still be quite short but none of this less than 21 days 😅 have to just celebrate what you can in these circumstances.

miamiamia869 · 25/01/2024 13:03

Ah glad to here your cycles seem to be getting back on track. Hopefully it's hormones balancing out ect xx @mumsince2021

mumsince2021 · 25/01/2024 13:07

@miamiamia869 I do wonder if I should get my husband back on fertility vitamins. He was taking wellman conception ones from the new year 2021 and we conceived my son in April 2021 so I do wonder if a few months of those made any improvement to his sperm quality or possibly it was just a complete coincidence! I only take the 7 seas trying for a baby ones which just have a few vitamins in them so I could probably try taking more too.

ThelastRolo20 · 25/01/2024 13:11

@mumsince2021 that's really good news about your cycle! Ah we conceived April 2021 too with our daughter ❤️

I'm hoping April will be another good month for me this year!

Blueskies4 · 25/01/2024 22:51

@ThelastRolo20 heard lots of good about omega 3 and a probiotic too - I started taking them in Dec! Other than that I have just been taking a folic acid and vitamin D, but both separate as didn’t want all the extra bits from the pregnancy vitamins (I have a thyroid problem and certain vitamins can interrupt tests, etc) The gynaecologist recommend a good antioxidant such as selenium for sperm health so that’s next on my list for Mr xx

RaisingCornishWildlings · 26/01/2024 19:34

Hey guys hope everyone has nice plans for the weekend.

I'm getting so peed off with my body! According to apps and looking at the last 3 cycles, I should be in fertile period now with ovulation around Sunday. I had a random day of EWCM last week, and the last two days in the evenings I've felt really "wet" but LH tests as super super faint.
I really don't know what the bugger is going on- DH away all next week from Monday-Friday and then he deploys for 5 weeks in mid Feb.
I'm really losing hope that we will get this baby no4 💔

ThelastRolo20 · 26/01/2024 19:41

@Blueskies4 thank up ❤️❤️ @RaisingCornishWildlings the EWM comes pre ovulation! So it may all still tee up - I think I had 5 days of it before I even got my peak last time. I'd still crack on! Xx

Claudiasaz · 26/01/2024 19:54

@mumsince2021 I am so chuffed for you! Hooray!

@RaisingCornishWildlings yuppppp I've been pd off with my body ever since the mmc tbh 😭 Hoping my bloods will be able to tell what is still not right all these months later.

@ThelastRolo20 how are you? X

I am actually following through with "not letting it run my life this month" 😂 I am kind of at a point where it will just happen when it happens and I can't put life on hold. It has been a much nicer time so far. Maybe time is a bit of a healer after all.

Hope everyone else is doing well

ThelastRolo20 · 27/01/2024 10:57

@Claudiasaz Project egg for me has now commenced! Vitamins have arrived and I've gone for my first run in about 6 months. Managed to do 5km which is a miracle, I was just so pissed off I kept running. I was thinking that I'm definitely going to take aspirin next time. With my first and successful pregnancy I went running in my first trimester which would have boosted blood supply. I haven't with my last two pregnancies and whenever I've given blood they've commented that my blood struggles to come out. So I wonder if my general blood supply is a bit rubbish around my body! All just theories of course 😂

123456789ss · 27/01/2024 12:09

I thought/hoped my days of POAS were over, but here I am, almost excited, to do day 1 of CBOPK tomorrow.
No idea what to expect as I'll be 12 days post surgical management of miscarriage.
Not sure what will be happening as I've still got faint lines on HCG but I'm eager to get monitoring again and TTC ASAP.
Anyone had any experience of LH monitoring soon after MC?
X

miamiamia869 · 27/01/2024 12:17

@ThelastRolo20 ... Good luke on project egg and 5k run after 6 months is really good we'll done... I started doing some homework out this week and thinking of running so im glad you said that.

@123456789ss so sorry for your loss. I tracked my LH from about a week after misscarriage. They do pick up on HCG which was testing positive for 3 weeks after missed misscarriage at 12 weeks. LH levels dropped with hcg and then once hcg was clear it started to rise again. I never got a full peak though it was all kind of all over the place until my period.
