TTC after early miscarriage

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@miamiamia869 don't worry, it depends on the test strip brand and other factors! I barely got it the same as the control line (but I figured close enough!) Twice and tell pregnant both times :)

mumsince2021 · 11/01/2024 13:52

@RaisingCornishWildlings I always think stress is a factor in not conceiving but it's impossible to not watch for ovulation etc is t it? You just don't want to miss that window 😅 it's so frustrating when you DTD plenty around ovulation yet still have no success. Where are all those thousands of sperm going 😑 I feel bad as I sometimes think of those DTD sessions at the end of a failed cycle as a waste of time which is a horrible way to think of quality time with the other half! It's just when you pressure yourself to do it on those days even when it's sometimes such a busy day where you wouldn't typically find the time do it you just feel that way sometimes

ThelastRolo20 · 11/01/2024 14:04

I'm not having a great day - I've been googling too much about measuring 1.5-2 weeks behind at scans. It's a real mixed bag but I'm so worried that I'm basically sat here waiting for a miscarriage.

How I'm meant to get through the next 11 days is beyond me 🥴

miamiamia869 · 11/01/2024 15:05

@ThelastRolo20 thanks you...... ohh I can't even imagine what you are going through and no matter how many times we say keep busy, keep your mind of it, it's going to be the the only thing you think about for 11 days. I'm a Google addict myself but it's a joy killer try try not too. I really feel for you as its just such a horrible wait. I feel positive for you though, like you say its a mixed bag. I pray it all works out for you and hope these 11 days somehow manage to fly by!! Keep positive!! (Again I know easier said than done when we are in this ttc/pregnancy after loss boat) sending a big hug xxx

Claudiasaz · 11/01/2024 15:10

@ThelastRolo20 I think you said something the other day like I'm pregnant until told otherwise and I think that's the way to think! You've seen little one and heartbeat. We are all behind you with nothing but positive thoughts. Is there any way they can do anything next week or is that not possible? X

ThelastRolo20 · 11/01/2024 15:10

@miamiamia869 thank you ❤️ going to try my best to stop googling now.

I'm sorry as I know, especially here, I should just be extremely grateful to be pregnant, and I am! But it doesn't feel like a done deal yet, not by a long shot. I guess that's what happens after loss - you become acutely aware that it may not work out

PositiveParrot · 11/01/2024 15:13

I’m not TTC at the mo as I’m still grieving a loss, but I think I have massive line eyes - is it ok if someone takes a look? ❤️

ThelastRolo20 · 11/01/2024 15:16

@PositiveParrot of course we'll take a look. I hope you're doing okay

PositiveParrot · 11/01/2024 15:21

Thank you. I feel compared to most I’m very behind in the processing of it all- it happened in 2021 so I feel like I ‘should’ be over it by now. But I’m not. The only reason I’m wondering if I’m pregnant (and possibly having another loss) is because I am on the mini pill back to back to manage endometriosis and bleeding. I have been bleeding for 10 days now (unusual), and have extreme pain. I had Covid just over a month ago and was unwell to the point where it could have affected contraception.

How are you? ❤️

@Claudiasaz i used the Premom app for the first time this cycle and I think it steered me in the right direction.

miamiamia869 · 11/01/2024 15:28

@PositiveParrot I feel like I do see a kind of wierd shadow thing. Have you tried fertility friend line checker to help look at lines. Oh bless you seems like you have been through a rough time. Last time I got pregnant I actually had covid also.

Oh I haven’t heard of that- I’ll check it out, thank you!
It just hit me so hard, I was 8 weeks, had not long moved house and my mum had just finished chemo. Plus Covid was still a massive thing back then. I can see weird shadows too?!

PositiveParrot · 11/01/2024 15:36

Here’s the inverted. I’m just not sure whether to go to EPU or not. 🧐 Or ask the husband to pick up some better quality tests!

ThelastRolo20 · 11/01/2024 15:36

@PositiveParrot sounds like you've had a really tough time, sorry. I think the second line is too far over and it's an indent, maybe picking up on where the different parts of the strips connect?

It's so annoying but the only thing to do is retest in a day or two!

Claudiasaz · 11/01/2024 16:20

@ThelastRolo20 aw that's so thoughtful but we're still here for you during this waiting for the scan x

miamiamia869 · 11/01/2024 16:20

Ahh yes it could be that @ThelastRolo20 as it does seem quite far over. I can deffinstly see it but like you say could be that. I would buy some tests In couple days @PositiveParrot

Claudiasaz · 11/01/2024 16:26

@PositiveParrot I don't think it's a line this one. So sorry to hear about your loss. X

miamiamia869 · 12/01/2024 07:07

Af came this morning. :-( I knew she was gonna so I guess it's good to get it over with and go again! But so frustrating x

ThelastRolo20 · 12/01/2024 07:55

@miamiamia869 I'm sorry - first day of AF is always the worst. Do you have anything nice planned in the diary to take your mind off the next couple of weeks until ovulation? Hopefully this cycle is the one!

miamiamia869 · 12/01/2024 08:05

@ThelastRolo20 ... nope nothing at all and the usual January empty wallett won't help that matter either lol.... going to just try and put it to back of my mind (we all know that won't happen) lol. I keep thinking ill start health and fitness to focus on something. Truth is I hate exersise, and I'm a real foodie. Sitting on the sofa with a pack of biscuits is my fave thing so it feels more like extra punishment trying to start that lol. Going through a rough time with other stuff at the moment too, feel like I'm I'm a very dark place and waiting for things to turn around. I do however have a holiday booked for June so will try and be positive n think of that!! .... how about you do you have much planned to get yourself through the next couple weeks. How are u feeling? Xx

Claudiasaz · 14/01/2024 23:19

@miamiamia869 Hope you have had a nice rest and lots of treats this weekend! X

ThelastRolo20 · 15/01/2024 06:25

@miamiamia869 I'm so sorry I missed your reply! It's hard going through this process, I'm sorry you're going through a tough time. The time of year doesn't help either I don't think!

Where are you off to in June? I'm okay, one week to go and I can't decide if I'm optimistic or not. Going to try and be productive at work this week so I at least don't feel guilty about that xx

bluebunny2 · 15/01/2024 06:42

Hi everyone, hope you’re all feeling ok at the moment. I’ve been really down the last couple of days. I’m based overseas and we were supposed to be moving back to the uk in the spring but due to various circumstances have had to delay until 2025. I’m so sad about this, I’m desperate to be closer to friends and family again and now that’s not going to happen. I keep feeling like if I’d been pregnant at least I’d have that to look forward to and keep me occupied but it hasn’t happened and I’m struggling to see the bright side right now. I am so grateful for my little girl as at least she makes every day worthwhile but I’ve even been really snappy with her over the weekend. I’m clinging on to the fact it won’t be January forever at the moment!

Blueskies4 · 15/01/2024 08:38

@bluebunny2 ah I’m sorry you’ve got work circumstances that are going against you too at the moment. It’s hard to be grateful all of the time when you want to extend your family, I personally think having one makes you fully aware of what having an extra child will give you. Big hugs xx
