TTC after early miscarriage

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@RaisingCornishWildlings can you wait and see if period comes do you think? Last month when I had the cycle weirdness and had to keep testing I found it so disheartening and stressful. This month I just waited to see and just came on and felt heaps better. I get that its different for everyone though! X

Blueskies4 · 08/01/2024 11:11

@Cat2022 symptoms can literally send you into a tail spin, and after a miscarriage you’re hypertensive to everything because of the bad experience. I do think it’s worth leaving a bit longer to see change but appreciate its so much easier said than done!

Thank you… I’ll persevere and then worst case scenario I have a couple of weeks worth to compare to next month!

RaisingCornishWildlings · 08/01/2024 11:18

You're right, of course @Claudiasaz - I
Just can't help myself even when I'm saying to myself "no point, don't waste the strip!"

I've just done my exercise class so it's good to move my body, though wasn't much in the mood! Gonna try my hardest to chill and see what will be for the next couple of days at least!

Last month was a 28day cycle and I'm now CD29, but if only 11 (poss 10) DPO then I know I need to chill my boots a bit!!

I have nothing to go on because have never tracking anything with my 3 kids, and the MC pregnancy I was just aware of when app said I was in the fertile window- but not giving it much more notice than that!

Hi I am 9dpo. I ovulated a little later than expected this month, this put my af due date back two days on premom app but it tells me to tesr hcg at 12 dpo when af was originally due. Has this happened to anyone else before?. I don't know weather too and or wait till after due date if it hasn't arrived? X

Claudiasaz · 08/01/2024 11:26

Personally I'd wait as long as you can. A) for clearer result. B) Save money on tests C) for your sanity 😂

ThelastRolo20 · 08/01/2024 16:42

@mumsince2021 thank you - I have no hope to be honest so going tomorrow to get the tablets in my mind. I will of course let you all know how I get on regardless - appointment is at 11am x

Claudiasaz · 08/01/2024 16:43

Ladies if anyone is interested I had my gp appointment. She was fantastic. I am having the hormones blood test as she said it's common for that to cause issues getting pregnant after miscarriage as some people's hormones take longer to balance correctly again. That could also cause the spotting and random cycles. If anything comes back will be referred to the hospital. So don't feel like you have to suffer or wait ages if you are. I was honest and they took me seriously!

Claudiasaz · 08/01/2024 16:44

@ThelastRolo20 will be thinking of you xx

mumsince2021 · 08/01/2024 18:40

@Claudiasaz that's good to hear they are helping. Yeah I definitely think miscarriage screws things up. My first ever attempt to conceive was a BFP chemical and from then on I was spotting mid cycle and took ages to get pregnant again. When I finally got pregnant again and had another loss it took even longer to get pregnant again. It sounds horrible but I'd rather months on end of BFNs than another early loss 🥺 it's just horrible having the tease of a BFP and then ending up with messed up cycles on top of a loss.

mumsince2021 · 08/01/2024 18:42

@ThelastRolo20 I thought it was Wednesday I'm glad you're having an appointment tomorrow and the wait is almost over. Best to think that way so you aren't gutted if it is bad news. We'll all be here for support either way!

RaisingCornishWildlings · 08/01/2024 18:53

Thinking of you in the morning @ThelastRolo20 - hope you sleep well tonight xxx

@mumsince2021 Aw I'm sorry you've had such a rough time. Completely understand that about taking the negatives over another loss. Xx

mumsince2021 · 08/01/2024 20:14

I've actually started thinking back to when I saw my GP before I conceived my son. I had went with mid cycle spotting and after a year of no success and she did a smear which I always suspect may have cleared a path as I conceived the next cycle 😅 however sorry if TMI but at the smear she sent me off with BV gel and thrush pessaries and said I had signs of these infections. I was puzzled as I had zero symptoms of either! No smell, no itching. Took them anyway. So yeah next cycle conceived my son. I've read that semen can disrupt the vagina pH balance causing things like BV so I do wonder if this can be a potential problem from some TTC as we need our vaginal pH balance to be good so they aren't killing off more sperm! I'm tempted to buy some BV gel and thrush pessaries to take just incase. Am I going mad now 😂 but I'll try anything it helps.

bluebunny2 · 08/01/2024 21:39

Hi everyone, hope you’re all ok this evening. I don’t always post but am
following everyone’s stories and hoping for good news. After a long cycle last one i think i probably ovulated yesterday or the day before. Not much chance this cycle as I was away so only had one chance and might have missed the egg anyway.
Thinking of you tomorrow @ThelastRolo20 at least you’ll have some clarity and I know we’d all love it to be good news.
@Holly0609 hope you’re doing ok. Chemicals suck, I’ve been there.
@Cat2022 I think your second line does look darker. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Cat2022 · 09/01/2024 06:20

@mumsince2021 that made me chuckle a little but seriously what harm would it do giving it a go 😂

miamiamia869 · 09/01/2024 11:33

have everything crossed for you for your appnt @ThelastRolo20

Claudiasaz · 09/01/2024 12:21

@mumsince2021 haha no way! I think you should try it.

How is everyone feeling today?

ThelastRolo20 · 09/01/2024 13:01

Hi everyone. A bit of a mixed bag - they found a strong heartbeat! Couldn't believe but I say mixed bag as I'm measuring so small still - only 3.7mm when I should be around 7 weeks 4/5 days. That measurement is around the 6 week mark - they didn't seem as concerned about that but I'm only cautiously optimistic, at least there was a heartbeat? Rescan in 2 weeks

Claudiasaz · 09/01/2024 13:25

Oh my goodness! This is fab news @ThelastRolo20 xx

RaisingCornishWildlings · 09/01/2024 13:27

Oh @ThelastRolo20 what lovely news! Maybe you ovulated later than expected then? And it's grown- and it's a strong heart beat-
All pretty promising for you! Sticky bean baby dust vibes for you and keeping everything crossed things progress as they should!

Xxx

@ThelastRolo20 ohh there's growth there's a heartbeat that is good news! So pleased for you. I can imagine it's going to be a long couple of weeks though now. Need to keep yourself busy

miamiamia869 · 09/01/2024 13:36

@ThelastRolo20 I knew it. Last week when there was no heartbeat i thought its so early and felt hopeful for you. I understand you feeling cautious with measuring small especially being on this thread we are all super cautious because of our experiences but I'm feeling positive for you. That's really good news and crossing all my fingers for you x

mumsince2021 · 09/01/2024 13:39

@ThelastRolo20 Just looked back as well and saw you were measuring 5 weeks just less than a week ago so surely that's perfect progress being a week further at the scan today?

Blueskies4 · 09/01/2024 13:53

@ThelastRolo20 this is such positive news 🙏🏼 hope you’re feeling ok. I wanted to say last week but I was worried about giving false hope, but I’d heard so often of measurements not being behind and baby catching up. Happened to one of my best friends xx

ThelastRolo20 · 09/01/2024 14:21

Thank you everyone. Baby has grown about 5/6 days in about 6 days. But that's a guess really as they're so hard to measure!

I've also heard stories of babies catching up, or it remaining a complete mystery! But right now just myself that I'm pregnant until sometime tells me otherwise
