TTC after early miscarriage

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

Unfortunately it's not good news this morning. Measuring 5 weeks with no heartbeat, I'll be okay. Just need to sort things out

mumsince2021 · 03/01/2024 10:42

@ThelastRolo20 🥺 I'm so sorry. Is it possible the dates are just off and it's maybe just slightly too early as 5 weeks is around when the heartbeat can only just be seen? It's so cruel that this happens. We are all here for you whenever you need us.

Holly0609 · 03/01/2024 10:58

I’m so sorry @ThelastRolo20 😔💔
Life is so cruel 😢
Thinking of you x

ThelastRolo20 · 03/01/2024 10:59

@mumsince2021 unfortunately dates couldn't be that far off. I've got an appointment on Tuesday at the hospital, somehow this doesn't feel as traumatic as the 12 week scan one.

I'll be okay, it's my daughter's 2nd birthday today so focusing on her x

mumsince2021 · 03/01/2024 11:44

@ThelastRolo20 I had a feeling you were solid with dates was just hoping there was still a chance it was that! Glad your daughters birthday is keeping you busy. She's got a better birthday than my son who was the 27th Dec. I've never been to hospital with any of my miscarriages as they were always before I registered (6-7 weeks) I hope they can offer some sort of support! Not sure how it works when you've had a successful pregnancy I've heard they are less willing to investigate anything then. I'd love to know why I keep miscarrying whether it's chromosomes, or my body doing something wrong

Ncl31 · 03/01/2024 11:49

@ThelastRolo20 so sorry to read this news.
im glad you have something to keep you focused today, but please do give yourself time and space to grieve.
if you need anything to chat just shout up.

Cat2022 · 03/01/2024 13:00

@ThelastRolo20 I’m so so sorry that is completely unfair :(.

I hope your daughter has a nice birthday. And as the others have said we are here to talk if/ when you want to.

RaisingCornishWildlings · 03/01/2024 13:07

Oh now @ThelastRolo20 I'm so sad for you. Like is just so unfair.
Hope you manage to have a lovely day with your daughter despite it all.
Sending so much love xx

Hi everyone. I've had to have a break from here over December/Christmas as it was all getting too much. I have caught up just now. Hope you're all okay?

@ThelastRolo20 I'm so sorry. Sending you lots of love. Hope you are doing okay x

Claudiasaz · 03/01/2024 15:29

And congratulations to you @Holly0609 x

miamiamia869 · 03/01/2024 17:12

@ThelastRolo20 I am so so so sorry and gutted to hear this. They say early scans are best at 8 weeks to detect heatbeat. I'm still holding out some hope for you and praying for you as like you say that just isn't fair. I understand what you say about dates and not wanting false hope ect also. Happy birthday to your daughter.. thinking of you and sending a big hug xx

@Holly0609 thays because of the loss I litrerly tested for my positive last time and that was it. I think unfortunately after loss we are just a whole lot more anxious and worried and needing reassurance and confirmation. I think pregnanxy after Loss is sadly tainted. Easier said than done I know but try not to worry and stress. Try to enjoy it as much you can xx

RaisingCornishWildlings · 03/01/2024 17:33

I'm feeling so negative about this cycle.
A lot of EWCM again today, and this seemed to be a PMS sign for me the last couple of cycles.

Feeling so despondent as for the other 3babies we just didn't really have to try and got pregnant so easily, and now - especially after apparently being extra fertile after a MC - I feel it just isn't going to happen for us 💔.
Got vague twinges again this evening like yesterday so I feel pretty convinced AF will arrive Sunday!

Sorry to be so down, just so frustrated!

OP posts:
Claudiasaz · 03/01/2024 17:51

@RaisingCornishWildlings ahhh same! Rant away. I will now 😂

I'm having sex on the right days. Definitely o. I've never had to try like this before. I think this MC has royally messed up my hormones to be honest. It's making me miserable hence the break from talking about it, haha.

I have had this weird light pink cm today 9dpo and cramps and back ache so period I'm guessing. I know exactly when I o, so this means my luteal phase is shorter this month which it's never in my life been everrr even after MC. 🫠

Cat2022 · 03/01/2024 18:09

@RaisingCornishWildlings @Claudiasaz I’m right there with you both feeling very frustrated and disheartened. I think I’m going to get AF in the next day or so as Iv got the same sore boobs and twinges I had last cycle. Since the MC my luteal phase has been so short like I’m only 7dpo today and likely af coming 8/9 dpo. 😭

mumsince2021 · 03/01/2024 18:34

@RaisingCornishWildlings feeling exactly the same I'm feeling my age might be a factor as I'm going into my late 30s this year 😢 wish I had started trying sooner. Don't you wish we just knew when it was going to happen if it is? Like looking back with my son if someone told me "don't worry you'll be pregnant by April 2021 and he will be here at the end of the year" I'd have felt so so much better just knowing. I'd love if someone could just tell me if/when 😅 it's torture every month.

Claudiasaz · 03/01/2024 18:52

@mumsince2021just seen your earlier post properly. I totally feel like giving up. I think if you can and it's not weighing too much on your mental health keep going!

I'm weighing up ATM it's worth it as I feel bad how much its putting on us all with it weighing on me so much, I am an all or nothing type of person 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 Equally feel like someone is missing still! Hard x

Blueskies4 · 03/01/2024 20:06

@ThelastRolo20 I’m so sorry lovely, really gutted for you. Here when you want to talk x

Blueskies4 · 03/01/2024 20:10

@mumsince2021 @Claudiasaz totally feel you , I’ve been going for 18 months and it consumes you doesn’t it, I’ve been thinking more lately about where we draw a line in the sand. I feel like I’m going through the motions constantly and everything’s on hold because it might happen or I can’t enjoy things just incase etc it’s so tough physically and mentally.

@RaisingCornishWildlings its an extra layer the not falling easily isn’t it.. I hadn’t realised how positive that is until I’m not getting pregnant easily and it just consumes half of your month! We’re 5 months in now and only a chemical to show for it!

Ordered myself a truck load of vitamins today… not sure if anyone else is into podcasts but I’ve come across a few good ones and they’re recommending similar to “it starts with the egg” - I thought what can it hurt (other than the purse!)… even if they’re just a placebo!

Blueskies4 · 03/01/2024 20:11

That should read 5 months since we started trying again after the last miscarriage.. 18 months since we started for baby no 2 x

Claudiasaz · 03/01/2024 20:17

@Blueskies4 It does consume absolutely. I feel guilty about it with my little ones and that's what makes me think should I call it a day and just live my life! 🫠😂

What vitamins did you go for? I was looking at some new ones the other day. Would love any recommendations x

bluebunny2 · 03/01/2024 20:37

Hi everyone,

so sorry it’s not better news at the moment @ThelastRolo20

fingers crossed for you @Holly0609

welcome to the group @Ncl31 and sorry for your loss.

Sadly no good news here either. Started my period on Christmas Day, cycle day 30 for me so either another chemical or just an unusually long cycle (normally 26/27 days). I didn’t test but I’ve a feeling it was another chemical as I had a few promising symptoms. I also think we might miss the window this cycle as I’m away from home until cd13 which may be too late.

I really get those of you saying you’re not sure about carrying on. I know age really isn’t on my side at 40 but I would love a sibling for our little girl so much. I think we’ll give it at least until I hit 41 before we stop.

Blueskies4 · 03/01/2024 22:56

@bluebunny2 ah I’m sorry you’ve come on your period, it’s super disappointing isn’t it. I’m with you on the sibling thing, we have 1 child at the moment and that makes it harder almost.

@Claudiasaz I was already taking folic acid and vitamin D and I’ve added COQ10, omega 3 and a probiotic (I read a Tommys study that made me want to try a probiotic).. the probiotic brand sounds wild but I’ve read a few things about how closely your gut health is linked to hormonal and reproductive health, so I thought worth a shot! The ones I went for had decent reviews/claim to be the better ingredient forms etc;

Holly0609 · 04/01/2024 07:44

Hi everyone. My lines aren’t getting any darker 😔. They’re about the same as they were 3 days ago (faint but clearly positive). Did a digital which said pregnant last night too. But the lines just aren’t progressing / aren’t dark
So I’m seriously worrying it’s a chemical 💔

Blueskies4 · 04/01/2024 08:25

@Holly0609 hope that’s not the case lovely. Maybe leave it a couple of days before you test again and then you may have a bit more indication? I know this is easier said than done x

Have you used Tommys before? Their helpline is run by their midwives and they’re brilliant - you could always give them a ring to talk through it. I’ve phoned them a couple of times in the past x

Cat2022 · 04/01/2024 08:50

Absolutely torturing myself and did a test at 8 dpo. Of course it is negative but if I squint I can see something which I think is likely just the test I’m using. Does anyone else use mommed strips and find them to have an indent line?
