TTC after early miscarriage

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@ThelastRolo20 Thank you so much 🥺❤️
I know - the most amazing start to what ended as such a bad year!

I don’t really have any symptoms at all yet.. Hope thats not a bad thing 🥺 it is still so early though isn’t it.

Let us know how your scan goes 💗

Blueskies4 · 01/01/2024 11:09

@Holly0609 congratulations lovely xx

@ThelastRolo20 good luck for Wednesday xx

@RaisingCornishWildlings that’s a bloody good effort! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

ThelastRolo20 · 01/01/2024 11:29

@Blueskies4 @Cat2022 @Holly0609 thank you. Can't decide if I feel nervous or not. Have a busy day at work tomorrow in the meantime! Hoping that distracts me 😊

mumsince2021 · 01/01/2024 22:24

Great result @Holly0609 I'm quite chuffed for you given your OH hasn't been physically fit enough to easily DTD too haha! If you don't mind me asking how many times did you DTD this cycle? Keep us posted on how it goes

So turns out the 18 day cycle wasn't a thing was just spotting. I'm at cycle day 22 not pregnant as tests still negative but at least my cycles aren't as worryingly short as I thought 😅 but the spotting isn't a good sign at all it happened after my first ever miscarriage before I had my son and totally messed things up for me for 8 months 😩 I think I'll be the last one here just feel incredibly infertile these days!

miamiamia869 · 02/01/2024 13:42

@Holly0609 I have just caught up on these messages, I could see the lines in all pics even with the negative digital I thought they are deffo positives and then see your last one. Congratulations what fab news for the new year.

Good luck tomorrow with your scan @ThelastRolo20

@RaisingCornishWildlings I think I ovulated on 30th so one day behind you on the TWW lol

Hello,

I hope it is okay to join. After 2 years of TTC I finally got my first BFP in December; Christmas Day I started to bleed and had a miscarriage confirmed in between Christmas and new year.
we are absolutely devastated but have agreed that we both want to continue TTC as soon as we can.

Im now 7 days from the start of the bleeding and today is the first day I haven’t had any. I’m going to tract OPKs from tomorrow, but with PCOS it can be difficult to OPKs due to multiple surges of LH.

I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that it’s okay to try again so soon?

Are there any success stories of those TTC so soon after miscarriage?

miamiamia869 · 02/01/2024 14:54

awww welcome @Ncl31 so sorry for your loss and the day it was on too. Must have been awful for you. I had my loss at 12 weeks in November. I started trying straight away was told by EPAC there's no reason not too they just advise to wait one cycle so its easier for dating.
It took me over 3 weeks for the HCG to leave my body though and then i started doing the OPK's. I was desperate to fall straight away and totally distraught. I was a mess and completely obsessed and heartbroken. I hope it gives you some comfort to know 2 months on i feel loads better about the whole ordeal and hope you will too soon. I didn't not fall pregnant but i have had 1 period and on my first full cycle now in the 2ww.

wishing you all the best and say go for it with trying for another.

Take care at this side time xxx

miamiamia869 · 02/01/2024 14:56

@Ncl31 also there have been a couple of successes in this thread i believe. I know @ThelastRolo20 had a positive just before christmas on her first full cycle following miscarriage :-)

Ncl31 · 02/01/2024 15:07

@miamiamia869 so sorry to hear of your loss also. It’s very difficult isn’t it. I just find it difficult to think about anything other than a successful pregnancy. I’ve done a HPT today and the line is so faint it’s barely there. I’m hoping my body gets into some sort of “normal” again soon. With PCOS I’m not really sure what’s normal any more.

ThelastRolo20 · 02/01/2024 15:27

@Ncl31 so sorry to hear about your miscarriage, and of the day it started. How many weeks were you? I only ask as my baby measured 9.5 weeks (found out at 12 weeks though) and it took the three full weeks for the HCG to fully go, I think it actually took a period too (which came exactly after 4 weeks).

I did then get pregnant that cycle so it's absolutely okay to try again as soon as you emotionally feel able to. Physically they recommend at least two weeks after the MC and once all bleeding has stopped. I think because I didn't need medical intervention things returned back to normal a bit more quickly for me x

miamiamia869 · 02/01/2024 15:45

@Ncl31 oh i know exactly what you are saying. That is all i could think about too for a good while and getting that first period was a killer as bought it all back but since then i have felt much better and hope you do too.

Ive joined a gym and booked a holiday as something to keep me from obsessing about TTC but i promise it does get easier and you gradually start thinking about other things. xxx

Ncl31 · 02/01/2024 15:50

@ThelastRolo20 i was 6-7 weeks so not as far along as you. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve pretty much stopped bleeding today, just had a tiny bit of brown blood this morning but nothing since.

@miamiamia869 we have a holiday booked for July already, we were thinking we were going to have to move it as my due date was 24th August. But we’re keeping it where it is now and just going to see what happens.

RaisingCornishWildlings · 02/01/2024 19:10

@Ncl31
Welcome to our little group and so so sorry to read of your loss. What a day for it to happen.
As
Others have said, time does help to heal the rawness a little bit but when you're so desperate for that positive result, it's so so hard not to be totally single minded about conceiving and not think about anything else!

Mu lost was at the beginning of October and I've had two periods since. We have been trying since the bleeding stopped so this is the 3rd cycle and I'm now in the 2WW. I'm either 4 or 5 DPO depending on which App I trust!

@miamiamia869 we can symptom spot together and try to keep each other strong and not test silly-early!

@RaisingCornishWildlings im so sorry for your loss.
fingers crossed you get your BFP soon. Good luck in this TWW. Do you wait to see if AF arrives or do you test early?

RaisingCornishWildlings · 02/01/2024 19:42

Oh gosh I'm absolutely TERRIBLY! I'm impatient and obsessive symptom-spotter and googler.

This evening I've started getting mild cramping and I think I feel a bit nauseous.
Deffo feel very "wet"... creamy/stretchy and v v slightly yellow cm. I had a 34d cycle then a 29 day cycle and im now CD23

Not a clue what is going on xx

Cat2022 · 02/01/2024 19:44

@Ncl31 so sorry for your loss.

My MC was mid October and been ttc since bleeding stopped so also 2 periods in between. I’m currently 6dpo but my cycles have been shorter since the loss so I’m not feeling very hopeful this cycle. Seeing the other ladies positive news is keeping me going though!

Ncl31 · 02/01/2024 19:50

@Cat2022 im so sorry for your loss. I hope that you get some positive news soon.
having shorter cycles would be a good thing for me. With my PCOS most of my cycles have been over 45 days, just the most recent 2 were less than that.

Holly0609 · 02/01/2024 20:59

@miamiamia869 thank you 🥺💗.
i felt so happy yesterday, but today I’ve felt so much anxiety worrying it won’t progress / worrying if my period will still come etc 💔
I’m going to do another test tomorrow, to see if it’s darker! I don’t know why I’ve suddenly got an urge to test to see progression when I didn’t even have a chemical last time, it was a MMC! I only tested twice last time 🥹

Holly0609 · 02/01/2024 21:04

Thank you @mumsince2021 💗
Haha 🤣 I’m shocked too coz it wasn’t easy to DTD 😂
We managed day before peak, day of peak then the day after too!!
I’m praying all goes ok…. I already feel so anxious and it’s only day 2 since my obvious positive 🥺

That is weird you just had early spotting and not a period 😩 when is your period due?
How long ago was your miscarriage? ☹️ x

ThelastRolo20 · 03/01/2024 02:55

@Holly0609 I so understand the desire to test again to see progression, I've always found that only worries me more, I end up analysing line colour and depth, and barely any difference can be seen in 24 hours. If you could possibly bear it try and give yourself a bigger gap.

I'm sat here awake starting to feel the nerves creep in about the scan tomorrow. I've been relatively calm so far but now I'm very aware that in a few hours time I may be being told that there isn't a viable pregnancy. I've managed to put my head in the sand until now. Just trying to tell myself that if it is bad news I'd rather know at this stage.

Scan is at 10am.- I'll let you all know how I get on x

RaisingCornishWildlings · 03/01/2024 06:41

Will be thinking of you @ThelastRolo20 .
Totally with you on the anxiety around that!

X

Holly0609 · 03/01/2024 07:06

@ThelastRolo20 its horrible 🥺 especially coz I don’t “feel” pregnant I want to see the lines progressing 😩. And it’s so much harder coz if I hadn’t had a miscarriage I would be way more chill / not wanting to test!
Would I even expect it to be a lot darker when I’m only 15DPO?

I can imagine how nerve wracking it will be 🥺. I really do have everything crossed for you 💗

Ncl31 · 03/01/2024 08:20

@ThelastRolo20 thinking about you today, I really hope it’s all positive

Cat2022 · 03/01/2024 08:35

@ThelastRolo20 thinking of you today, we have all our fingers crossed for you x

mumsince2021 · 03/01/2024 09:28

Good luck @ThelastRolo20 🤞

I'll always be a line progression tester until about 7 weeks along because using those cheap tests every second day has either showed me the good progression with my successful pregnancy or showed me that something isn't going well and prepared me for the early losses coming as all miscarriages showed on them with slow or poor line progression. I found it less upsetting when it ended as I was already expecting it 😔 really hate the early weeks with testing and lack of symptoms it's such a tough time. Hopefully this first trimester will fly by for you both!

I'm actually thinking when it gets to spring/summer it might be time for me to give up and accept that its just going to be my boy and us. Absolutely hate TTC so much it's a miserable time when you have poor fertility. It has been 6 months so far this time but it took 16 months the first time which was so draining with negatives and miscarriages throughout. Sorry for moaning just fed up already 😂 AF arrived yesterday
