TTC after early miscarriage

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

Of course you can join @humanwinginglife really sorry to hear about your loss. I was told I had a cyst on my ovary I ovulated from during my pregnancy with my son and it went away later in the pregnancy it's not usually something you need to worry about quite common with ovulation. There's no easy way to answer when you will ovulate next some people can conceive the next cycle and for others it takes a while. I next got pregnant 5 months after my first loss.

miamiamia869 · 15/12/2023 12:22

@humanwinginglife I misscarried at 12 weeks on 6th November. I tested positive for a further 3 weeks and my ovulation test strips went high shortly after. Highest was 30th November when I believe I would have ovulated but I did not reach a peak so who knows. We tried alot but I didn't fall pregnant. First af came tues. I'm not sure if I ovulated or not. Desperate to fall pregnant again though. So sorry for your loss xx

bluebunny2 · 15/12/2023 12:36

@humanwinginglife welcome
to the group and so sorry for your loss. It’s so varied with ovulation. My miscarriage was earlier and I didn’t need any medical management which may make a difference. I ovulated exactly as expected counting the day I started bleeding as cycle day 1. We didn’t try that month as I was away without dp but I did fall the following month which sadly turned into a chemical.

Im now cd21 and reckon I’m probably 9/10 dpo. Last month I was convinced I wasn’t pregnant and was correct, this month feel like it could go either way. Not planning to test early but we’ll see how that goes.

ThelastRolo20 · 15/12/2023 13:13

@humanwinginglife welcome to the group and sorry for your loss. I didn't ovulate between the miscarriage and my next period, it then went back to normal

@Holly0609 I think there's a chance you did! Mine goes up and back down in a matter of hours so really does depend when I catch it. Also, the app isn't as good as judging by eye, it sometimes gets it wrong xx

humanwinginglife · 15/12/2023 17:09

Thank you all so much for your support and accepting me into your fold ♥️

I'm so sorry for your losses and thank you for the ovulation advice. I'm going to test with strips from tomorrow but aware I may not ovulate this month. Time will tell 🙏

I'm just glad the bleeding has finally stopped 😢

Holly0609 · 17/12/2023 11:34

@ThelastRolo20 I’m so glad I kept testing!!! I think it’s finally ovulation time for me 😂.
The relief I feel is insane… the last 6 weeks I’ve been so consumed with testing / wondering why it’s taking so long it’s made me miserable 😭

Hope you’re okay! Congratulations again 💗

ThelastRolo20 · 17/12/2023 11:46

@Holly0609 wow that's a definite surge! CD14 too which seems like good timing all round 🎉😊

Everything crossed for you that this month is the one. Are you an early tester or will you hold off? X

ThelastRolo20 · 17/12/2023 11:47

@Holly0609 or is this your first surge since the MC? I can't quite remember! I don't think I even ovulated until I had a period so this is great news if it is a surge for you 😊

Holly0609 · 17/12/2023 11:54

@ThelastRolo20 I know, I’m so relieved 🎉. it is really weird the app reset itself to cycle day 14 when it’s day 48 or something stupid since my surgery (i think it must reset itself after 35 days!)
I normally ovulate cycle day 14 too 😅.

Now I just need to time when to DTD 🥹 (it’s still difficult with my husbands knee 😂) and we haven’t DTD since Wednesday ☹️. So I’m thinking later and in the morning and hopefully that’ll be okay 🤞🏼

Thank you! Oh I’m definitely an early tester 🙈. Last time I tested at 10 DPO and got a positive!
Gutted itll be too early to test before Christmas Day 😩. 10 days is the earliest to start testing isn’t it? Xx

Holly0609 · 17/12/2023 11:57

@ThelastRolo20 Yep, first surge since MC! 🎉. I was praying to ovulate or at least get my period coz I’ve been in complete limbo ☹️.

How long ago did you have your MC?
Was this your first cycle trying since MC? Xx

ThelastRolo20 · 17/12/2023 12:08

@Holly0609 my period came back 4 weeks to the day after my MC so pretty speedy all things considered! And yeah first cycle since we conceived so technically I was only not pregnant for 4 weeks - couldn't have gone any better to be honest.

Later and tomorrow is good coverage and yeah I reckon 10DPO would be the earliest I'm afraid but other people have gotten positives earlier so you never know 😊

Vic231 · 17/12/2023 12:12

@ThelastRolo20 (or anyone else who seems more knowledgeable than me about ovulation 😂) I haven't ever really tracked ovulation, except the month that we weren't trying because we were waiting for tests that had to be done during a period! Anyway, because of that I've just gone by my very regular cycle as to when to DTD, but then I see some peoples ovulation vary quite a lot so now I'm worrying that I'm missing the optimum time? Or is that because their cycles are irregular?

For example following my app my cycles are 23 days. So period CD 1 - 4/5, then fertile CD 6-11 and then period exactly 2 weeks after that. So we are DTD within those 5 or so days but is there a possibility that ovulation might occur after that? Or because my period arrives exactly 2 weeks later that means I did ovulate within CD 6-11?

Does that even make sense? 😂 just trying to avoid ovulation testing but also don't want to shoot myself in the foot...

ThelastRolo20 · 17/12/2023 12:16

@Vic231 for a lot of people, who have regular cycles, they will ovulate around two weeks prior to their period arriving..however if you test you might find out you have a short luteal phase, or you might ovulate earlier than you realise (although that seems unlikely if your fertile phase starts at CD6 already!)

Lots of people just go off other signs - EWCM etc. I didn't track with my first and fell pregnant absolutely fine. I only did with my second (which I had the MC) as I'd had two dodgy cycles which looking back were due to COVID 😂

Vic231 · 17/12/2023 12:23

@ThelastRolo20 thank you, that's what I was thinking I just needed someone else to tell me 😂

I think I'm just struggling with being patient but I also have to remind myself it's only been a year since we lost our daughter, then we waited until we were mentally and I was physically ready and went straight into an early loss, another month off and then another early loss before waiting for testing and then only starting again last month. And breatheeee

Typing that out helped me actually 😅

ThelastRolo20 · 17/12/2023 13:20

@Vic231 you've been through so much! Totally get the impatience. I was the same and that's just after one loss - feels like groundhog day coming up to 5 weeks! Feels like one very long pregnancy 😂

I'm hoping the festivities will distract everyone for a few weeks, whether they're pregnant and nervous, or TTC 😊

Blueskies4 · 18/12/2023 20:59

@Holly0609 ah that’s great news, I bet you’re relieved!

mumsince2021 · 21/12/2023 14:21

We've gone quiet... hope everyone is distracting themselves with Christmas and keeping positive. It looks like my next test date is the 1st January 😅 I guess I'll have to do it a day early to check whether I can have a Hogmanay drink. Don't fancy starting the year off to a BFN either anyway! Surely we'll have some more good news here in the early part of 2024 🤞

RaisingCornishWildlings · 21/12/2023 15:40

Hi guys, yup, full flow of overwhelmed "ahhh it's almost Christmas still so much to do but I'm so excited" stage!

Our just about to be 7 year old (his bday. Is 29th) is making sounds about not believing so we are worried this might be the last year all 3 kids will fully embrace the magic. I'm so sad; he's just so clever but seems too young to be questioning stuff like that!

I think I'll be heading into fertile window between Christmas and new year and we are up to Cardiff to in laws 27-30 so gonna have to have a lot of sex in in laws house 🫣 at least the kids will have all their new toys to distract them, haha!!

If we are successful (ovulation about new year I think), I'll know by my sister's bday (16th Jan)!

We have all been hit with various bugs so not been much time to think about ttc this month although I’m only CD 14 so I guess not completely out if we can muster some energy in the next day. Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!

Blueskies4 · 24/12/2023 06:56

I guess at least we’re all quiet because we’re busy with Christmas and other things, it’s a welcome distraction!

I’ll start my period in the next couple of days, did a test yesterday.. BFN xx

Cat2022 · 24/12/2023 10:09

@Blueskies4 yes definitely been trying to keep busy. Iv not had an LH peak yet this month but last month it was CD17 and I’m CD16 just now. My luteal phase seems to be shorter since the MC, I hope it sorts itself out soon.

Vic231 · 24/12/2023 16:00

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas ♥️ thank you for all the support this year xx

Holly0609 · 24/12/2023 19:14

Merry Christmas everyone 💕
I can’t wait for this year to be over.. not feeling Christmassy at all!
I’m 5DPO and the wait is torture 😅

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/12/2023 23:06

Merry Christmas to you all. Here's hoping 2024 is a positive year for us all!

Lots of love xxx

@Holly0609 hope you manage to enjoy the festivities over the next few days and manage to put the blasted TWW to the back of your mind! Xxx
