TTC after early miscarriage

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

@ThelastRolo20 🤞🏻🤞🏻

RaisingCornishWildlings · 10/12/2023 20:29

Oooh fingers crossed @ThelastRolo20 !!

Here's hoping!!

So I went to the loo just now and when I wiped there was the faintest HINT of pink. Like barely there.
I'm convinced I missed my window with DH being away- he got back Friday 1st (after I had the EWCM and a promising LH strip (strong but not a dye stealer) test on the Tuesday. We DTD that night though.

So this would be 10DPO/9 days post sex I guess. And standing here doing the ironing listening to an audiobook and trying NOT to get up hopes as it's SO PAINFULLY UNLIKELY but feeling a bit period crampy so thinking "here we go- AF tomorrow!" But then a fairly sharp, pokey/stabby kind of feeling very low and slightly to the left. It only lasted 5 mins, seems to have gone now...
so of course my desperation brain is willing it to be implantation.
But I know deep down it can't be- surely!!

ThelastRolo20 · 10/12/2023 20:43

@RaisingCornishWildlings it's unlikely but certainly not impossible! If the lh strip didn't match the control line then the surge hadn't happened, if it came that night (so surge Wednesday) that means you ovulated Thursday and the egg lives up to 24 hours or so! Certainly not out unless AF arrives.

I've done a first response and another easy at home both confirming I'm pregnant. I won't post the pictures as I know it can be difficult for some people. Here starts a very anxious 8 or so weeks until the 12 week scan x

RaisingCornishWildlings · 10/12/2023 20:49

A tentative congratulations to you @ThelastRolo20 - and commiserations for no more festive tipples for you!! Haha!

Yeah; I guess it only takes one shot- I'm just so so hopeful but so sure it can't be. The next couple of days will show what the situation is!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed whilst I send you sticky-baby dust xxx

RaisingCornishWildlings · 10/12/2023 23:23

Pretty sure it's AF coming in- a lot more pinkish red when I wiped this time! was nice to dream but I think I'll focus my attentions on January conception now!
Cycle day 28 so if this spotting is the start of AF, that's the most normal cycle I've had in a while 😂.

mumsince2021 · 11/12/2023 07:14

Ohh fingers crossed for you @ThelastRolo20 🤞 very thoughtful of you to not share the test photos too although deep down I want to see them 😂

I'm the same as you today @RaisingCornishWildlings and just wiped some blood this morning but I'm only at cycle day 21! Kind of concerned as that's far too short for a cycle surely? I've always had short cycles that vary in length but usually that would be anywhere between 23-28 days it just feels like there's simply not enough time with a 21 day cycle for everything to happen properly. Anyone else had this?

miamiamia869 · 11/12/2023 07:56

@ThelastRolo20 we were both supposed to be testing Thursday. You have made Me want to test early. I keep getting the first wee out as I'm much less likely to test early with anything else lol, howevee i feel super emotional today very PMT like so have lost alot of hope. Congratulations the best Christmas gift you could dream off. Xx

ThelastRolo20 · 11/12/2023 08:49

@mumsince2021 I did have a 21 days cycle back in the summer (really unlike me) but I was quite ill at the time so looking back I think I had COVID! Test attached if you'd like to see :)

@miamiamia869 I know, I'm so sorry - totally failed at waiting haha. I had little hope, I only tested due to a sore left boob so you never know.

miamiamia869 · 11/12/2023 09:10

Oh don't be sorry you have given yourself an early escape from the dreaded 2ww with the best outcome. They are deffinate positives. So happy for you. Massive congrats xxx

Holly0609 · 11/12/2023 10:16

Congratulations @ThelastRolo20 ❤️❤️

mumsince2021 · 11/12/2023 10:22

How sad would it be if we didn't have some happy news each cycle here. Ideally we'd all be getting a BFP straight away but if it's at least 1 of us that's better than none!

It looks like 21 day cycle is on the edge of normal according to the NHS so I probably don't need to worry. It puts me at an ovulation date of CD7 though so I'd really need to be DTD while bleeding at this rate 😂 can't see my husband getting on board with that! The plus side is I don't have a long wait for a result so I'm now just focusing on Christmas and will start trying again... in 6 days it seems 😅 🩸

@miamiamia869 are you still holding out for Thursday?

miamiamia869 · 11/12/2023 11:06

@mumsince2021 you are so right we have all been in the same boat with losses and its nice to see the positives coming through and gives us all hope.

I want too but I am not feeling very hopeful and feeling quite down today and stressed at work already this morning so I can see myself maybe doing it tomorow. Lol

miamiamia869 · 11/12/2023 11:07

@mumsince2021 that really is a short cycle but if nhs says normal. Like you say it means you must just ovulate early. Why is this journey so hard and confusing

bluebunny2 · 11/12/2023 13:44

Feelinv hopeful for you @ThelastRolo20 So nice to have some positive news here. I’m 5/6 dpo now and feeling a little more hopeful than last cycle. At lease if it’s negative for me this month I can enjoy all the Christmas food and drink.

Cat2022 · 11/12/2023 17:01

@ThelastRolo20 congratulations! I agree great to see some good news x

ThelastRolo20 · 12/12/2023 07:02

@Cat2022 @bluebunny2 @Holly0609 thank you! I've decided not to test again until Thursday. If that's darker (which it should be), I'm going to stop testing all together and what will be will be!

@miamiamia869 are you going to test this morning? X

miamiamia869 · 12/12/2023 07:08

@ThelastRolo20 . Yes yours should deffinatly be darker by Thursday.

I have but not even the faintest line, stark white. Gutted but also think I knew deep down and not even had a period yet since my misscarriage so my body still adjusting I guess. I know its still early to test but there's nothing there what so ever so I'm 99.99% sure im out lol

I'm not even a big drinker, but I'm going to make sure I have plenty of baileys and cocktails when out for meals over Christmas, make something of this negative lol x

ThelastRolo20 · 12/12/2023 07:20

@miamiamia869 I don't blame you, enjoy all the wine, cheese and cured meats ❤️ I had to wait for a period to come after my MC too, it's such an understandable response to want to be pregnant immediately so I completely understand how you feel xx

Vic231 · 12/12/2023 07:43

Oh @ThelastRolo20 this is great news! Sending you lots of good luck for this pregnancy xxx

Blueskies4 · 12/12/2023 08:48

@ThelastRolo20 congratulations, lovely news… crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly xx

@RaisingCornishWildlings 🤞🏻 it’s not your period but Christmas drinks to you if it is. Before my 4th pregnancy we never tracked (I didn’t know when I ovulated) and I always caught on 1st/2nd month so hopefully that’s testament to the fact that it only takes that one time!

Its rough with the period and pregnancy symptoms overlapping isn’t it ladies.. I’ve realised from this few months trying that they’re so similar and it’s frustrating as hell!

Random but I got a positive ovulation test this morning (clear blue digital) - whats the likelihood of a false positive?! I’m 12 days in from the chemical (been ovulating at CD11 since Summer).. I still had a super faint positive PT on Friday but assuming I’d be negative now..

mumsince2021 · 14/12/2023 17:46

How are we all? I seem to have stopped bleeding from AF after 4 days which is short for me usually still spotting on day 6. Must be because the cycle was so short there was less in there 😅 so I'll be trying again this weekend now. Not feeling confident as I just feel it's going to take a while and will be well into 2024 if I'm lucky enough.

humanwinginglife · 14/12/2023 20:15

Please may I join 🥹

I'm really struggling. I went to EPU at what I believe should have been 8 weeks. HPT's were either positive, negative or faint positives but I felt extremely pregnant. I was 27 days late. After an entire day of all manner of tests, I was told it was a miscarriage.

I stopped bleeding yesterday after 8 days of bleeding (period is usually 5 days exactly).

Any advice as to trying to continue to TTC? Since this has completely messed with my cycle, when will I perhaps ovulate next?

P.S. they also found a cyst on my right ovary 😢 they believe this to be common in early pregnancy....?

Holly0609 · 14/12/2023 21:02

Hi @humanwinginglife
Sorry for your loss 😞❤️

I can’t really help. It’s 6 1/2 weeks since surgical management of retained products for me (had MMC 3 weeks before that) and I still haven’t ovulated or got my period ☹️. Longest 9 weeks of my life.

I’ve had some dark lines on OPK’s this week but never hit my peak so wondering if I have ovulated but I’m doubtful coz I never got my peak.
I had an ultrasound scan a week ago and was told I would be ovulating in the next 1-2 days, so it’s really frustrating.

Did anyone else take absolutely ages to ovulate? I normally have regular cycles pre miscarriage
I’m debating going to my GP but not sure if it’s a waste of time, as I have read that most people ovulate within 2-4 weeks but can take 6-8 weeks ☹️

Holly0609 · 14/12/2023 21:05

@humanwinginglife Also, my sister had a cyst on her ovary when she had an early pregnancy scan, and was told it was normal in early pregnancy also ❤️. She’s currently 21 weeks, so it hasn’t been an issue x

Holly0609 · 14/12/2023 21:09

Sorry I’m spamming now 🙈.
Does anyone else think I could have possibly ovulated here..?
I did get a static smiley on clearblue 2 days ago, and had a darker line 2 days ago too, but the app is detecting it as low!
(it’s not cycle day 11, it’s cycle day 42 ☹️)
