TTC after early miscarriage

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

Sorry to dump it on you all like that, I just know you’ll get it xx

RaisingCornishWildlings · 06/12/2023 20:56

Oh @Blueskies4 I'm heartbroken for you. Be super kind to yourself- favourite music, hot bath and early night if you can - and comfort food! Sending a lot of hugs your way xx

bluebunny2 · 06/12/2023 21:52

@Blueskies4 Ah no, so sorry to hear this. 😢.

Claudiasaz · 06/12/2023 22:00

@Blueskies4 oh no I'm so sorry. Sending you lots of love 😘

mumsince2021 · 07/12/2023 08:41

Sorry to hear you're going through this again @Blueskies4 it's horrible when you're bleeding but still seeing a positive. We're all here if you need to talk so no need to apologise about dumping anything on us!

Claudiasaz · 07/12/2023 09:48

@mumsince2021 absolutely agree. Even in my Xmas break 😂 here for any one of you.

@Blueskies4 how are you feeling? X

Claudiasaz · 07/12/2023 09:52

I'm actually having a weird experience. I've been spotting very light pink for a couple of days in the morning but nothing else. Having really bad pain that comes and goes as well. I've this morning had a light watery brown and again nothing. Does this sound like something sinister or am I paranoid. I can't say what's normal for period anymore as I clearly don't know... 😬

Feel like we have a wealth of experience here so any thoughts welcome

ThelastRolo20 · 07/12/2023 11:23

@Claudiasaz bless you this sounds so confusing! Firstly, have you taken another test? Sounds like potential implantation bleeding?

Otherwise just a very weird dodgy cycle 😔

Blueskies4 · 07/12/2023 11:35

Thanks ladies, it’s such a good place for support!

@Claudiasaz that does sound confusing.. I’ve seen the weird and wonderful over the last few years it’s so hard to tell.. hopefully you get some clarity asap. It’s so frustrating being in limbo.

I’m a bit bummed out today.. I don’t mean to sound heartless but after all the unusual cycle stuff I’ve had over the last few months, I had a really good appointment with the gynaecologist and had what felt like a good action plan for moving forward, and should have been ovulating this weekend - so it feels like a set back more than anything else. Because I bled for a few days and then got a positive on a hunch it’s not the same upset, but still means my bodies up in the air so I’m feeling sorry for myself! Also Christmas party tomorrow and because I wouldn’t have been in the TWW I was going to let my hair down, but I have a tiny voice that’s like “what if by some miracle there’s a baby in there, and you have 242 baileys because you think you’ve had a chemical..” interested in your thoughts on whether I should have a drink or no..

Hope you’re all doing ok xx

bluebunny2 · 07/12/2023 11:46

@Claudiasaz No advice but if it is implantation bleeding it won’t be surprising that you’re not testing positive yet as the hcg needs time to rise. Fingers crossed for some good news or at least some clarity for you.
@Blueskies4 could you take a couple of cheapie tests and if the lines are looking fainter you’ll know it’s definitely over and ok to have a drink. If they don’t look fainter maybe don’t risk it. How heavy was your bleed?

miamiamia869 · 07/12/2023 11:49

@Blueskies4 so sorry to hear you have has a chemical. Hope you can take care of yourself today and manage to do something nice over the weekend to keep your mind of things and to have something nice for yourself. You will need and deserve it at this time. Thinking of you xx

@Claudiasaz that is such a hard one because when you have even the tiniest ounz of hope u don't want to do anything wrong. However loads of people wouldn't even know at this point and would unknowingly go about drinking and no harm comes of it. My friend had a few heavy nights while she was pregnant and didn't know = very healthy and abosoloutly hansom baby boy. I think you should have a drink if you feel like it. Maybe do some final tests to see if it's got stronger as could be implantation bleeding and also know a lady who is pregnant at the moment, around 7 months and she bled alot through the early weeks but all has been fine. Its a hard one xx

Claudiasaz · 07/12/2023 12:46

@Blueskies4 aw it honestly it so s£## ! I think go with how you feel tomorrow, if you fancy a couple go for it. At the early stage I wonder how much these things make a difference in my personal experience but I'm not a Dr of course! And agree with the others maybe a test in the morning? Hugs to you xx

Thanks for the advice ladies. I tested at the weekend. I did have IB with my second but I think it's too late for that. I guess no harm in doing a test anyway. Will go for a cheap one though 😂 Given the pain I don't think it would be a good outcome if it was positive to be honest! I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes x

miamiamia869 · 07/12/2023 12:53

@Claudiasaz and @Blueskies4 I got the messages mixed up with who wrote what. Sorry xx

mumsince2021 · 07/12/2023 13:59

@Blueskies4 I felt the same with my last loss as I was bleeding but still testing positive with obvious lines (just not progressing to a dye stealer) and I held off drinking. However this was not a Christmas party so it was easy for me to skip a drink then. I agree with the others and would simply take another test before the party and if it's not progressed and/or you are still bleeding with pain then I would say it's fine for you to have a few drinks as you deserve to enjoy the night as best you can given the circumstances. Even in the chance that it's a successful pregnancy, as long as you've not overdone it all will be fine. Loads of people don't know they are pregnant in the first month or so and it's done no harm.

I'm going to be at about 9 DPO at my Christmas work do tomorrow and it's too early to test and get a clear answer so I'll be having drinks with a (tiny) chance that I could be pregnant and I'm going to just go easy and only have a few but not restricting myself when it's something I should enjoy while I'm not pregnant!

Claudiasaz · 07/12/2023 20:06

@mumsince2021 I have to agree enjoy yourself! Hope you have a good night 🎉

Claudiasaz · 08/12/2023 10:11

My update more bleeding overnight and a negative test. Thank goodness. Now I can get in the Christmas spirit after a dreadful couple of weeks 😂

Claudiasaz · 08/12/2023 10:33

Ps going to have a couple of proseccos myself this weekend as have some social things going on. So hope you all enjoy your parties and events! We deserve it 💖

ThelastRolo20 · 08/12/2023 10:35

@Claudiasaz I know it's not the outcome you necessarily wanted but I'm so happy things have moved on! Enjoy the prosecco - absolutely deserved. I have my Christmas party tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to not having TTC on my mind for a few hours x

Claudiasaz · 08/12/2023 10:53

@ThelastRolo20 Exactly! I'm so happy I can relax now. Not going to lie is worrying me a little something is not right the fact we're trying trying and nothing is happening. And then the random weird period stuff. I guess maybe I'm still not ready to fall pregnant despite wanting to-like we spoke about before!

Enjoy yourself! 🎉🎉

Cat2022 · 09/12/2023 07:28

AF arrived this morning :( feeling disheartened but not much I can do other than move on to the next cycle. I guess I will have a few drinks at my Christmas party too

Blueskies4 · 09/12/2023 19:17

@Claudiasaz I’m glad you know where you are with it now and have a fresh slate. Enjoy your Proseccos they’re definitely deserved!

@Cat2022 ah I’m sorry it’s arrived.. hope you manage to enjoy the party x

Thanks for the advice ladies…. I had a few drinks and thoroughly enjoyed them! Good choice because my boobs have gone down a bit today.. think I’ll get a negative within the next few days and hoping ovulation follows 🤞🏻

mumsince2021 · 10/12/2023 09:59

Sorry to hear it's looking like negatives for most of us so for but glad everyone is enjoying some Christmas party drinks! I took my first test this cycle this morning at estimated 10 DPO and not a hint of a line so pretty sure I'm out for this cycle too. At least we all have Christmas to soften the blow.

Holly0609 · 10/12/2023 13:12

Sorry that everyone’s had negatives this month 😭
I’m just over here still waiting to ovulate 🫠
6 weeks tomorrow since surgical management… day 9 of flashing smileys 🥹
longest 6 weeks ever!

ThelastRolo20 · 10/12/2023 14:47

So my plan to not test early went out the window 😂 I have the will power of a gnat. Issue is the test flooded but there's a line with colour - not fully trusting it though due to the flooding so will see what tomorrow morning brings
