TTC after early miscarriage

RaisingCornishWildlings · 24/10/2023 09:59

Morning!
So I sadly suffered an early miscarriage at 5w just over a fortnight ago.

We have 3 children already (6,4 and 19m) and I'm 40, hubby 47.

Lovely staff at EPU said crack on again as soon as I'm ready- and not to worry about having a period first.

I've always had pretty irregular cycles anyway and have never tracked ovulation (we have been very lucky and fallen pregnant super easily- and this was my first MC).

I think I have just ovulated (Sunday) which was 14 days since spotting (main bleed from miscarriage was Tues 11, Weds 12 Oct).

My symptoms were bloating on Fri and Saturday, and real drop in mood over the weekend (I've noticed this has happened a few times a couple of weeks before period since cycles started after DD was born), by yesterday my mood was much more stable again. On Sunday I had mild nausea and very mild cramping (more like little twinges).
We DTD Sunday night.

So have fingers crossed that something might have happened!

I noticed yesterday evening and today I'm peeing more than usual but apparently that can be a sign of ovulation too.

I'm going to be a crazy lady symptom
spotting for a fortnight now! Have a cervical screening booked for a week today (wondering if I should cancel it?!)

What's the earliest anyone has had symptoms after DTD that turned out to be early pregnancy? And how many DPO have you got a positive?

Yeah I thought maybe I should test but I'll wait and see if I have more EW today. And feel like what's the point in wasting pee sticks if he's not even here 😂😂

@Roxystar23 thats greats news! Delighted for you 💕 x

@RaisingCornishWildlings sorry to hear your husband won’t be back next week, I can’t imagine how frustrating that is.

Cat2022 · 25/11/2023 14:09

I haven’t been very consistent at using OPKs as I don’t want to put too much pressure on it. I’m on CD13 and normally would ovulate CD16/17 but am feeling crampy today so who knows.

Claudiasaz · 25/11/2023 17:38

Awesome! @Roxystar23 Great news. Hopefully you are the start of a rainbow of good news for us all 🌈

@RaisingCornishWildlings noooo! I'm sorry but fingers crossed it changes.

@ThelastRolo20 I am good thank you! Had such a busy day with my little ones and I have given up the ov tests now which feels good 😂😂 I have period pains though so who knows. How are you feeling?

@Holly0609 hope you're feeling better today! X

ThelastRolo20 · 25/11/2023 17:46

@Claudiasaz I'm glad you had a nice day with the little ones 😊 hopefully you get an answer about this cycle soon!

I'm okay, cd12 and low on OPKs but I have a rise and decline in a day around day 15 and pretty much nothing before hand so this is usual! Trying not to be too impatient - I've booked my husband in for tomorrow night regardless 😂

mumsince2021 · 25/11/2023 19:09

@Roxystar23 glad it's still positive. Can you remind us how long ago was your MC? We need some info to give us more hope 😅

I'm reaching the end of AF so back to trying will likely ovulate mid next week if my body behaves as it should🤞

Hopefully more good news to come for the next cycles here and keep us posted on how it's going @Roxystar23

Claudiasaz · 25/11/2023 19:23

@ThelastRolo20 Good luck with the tests!
@mumsince2021 @Roxystar23 yes would be good to know! It is really hopeful one of us finally has some good news. I can imagine it's tricky but take it day by day 🌈❤️

bluebunny2 · 25/11/2023 19:44

AF arrived on schedule for me today. Was totally expecting it and feel pretty good about moving on to the next cycle. I feel like my body really needed a break after the MC then a chemical in the last 3 cycles. Glad to hear positive news and hopefully lots more to come with lots of you hitting ovulation and the tww soon 🤞

Claudiasaz · 25/11/2023 20:20

@bluebunny2 ah crap food and TV cure?

Funny you say this, was having this exact conversation with a therapist I'm speaking to about my mmc and she said your body has been through so much, your mind is ahead of your body. I never thought of it like that, just assumed ovulation / period resumes all is well when actually it probably needs a bit more time. Hopefully not too long 🫠😂

Absolutely! Had a glass of wine last night and I’m drinking a nice coffee this morning before I go back to doing it all properly again next month.

ThelastRolo20 · 26/11/2023 09:18

@bluebunny2 glass of wine yesterday and coffee this morning is a great idea. Hope this month works out for you. @Claudiasaz I think your therapist is totally right, our minds and body can be disconnected after a MC and move at completely different rates

Claudiasaz · 26/11/2023 10:03

@bluebunny2 That's how you do it!! How are you feeling today

@ThelastRolo20 absolutely that's why I thought oh let me share that as it's definitely resonated with me. I know we all have an overwhelming urge to get pregnant which makes it so much harder. She's been amazing I'd recommend it. I thought I was okay but when I have my little sessions I realise I took it all a lot harder than I thought!

Let's hope for some more good news soon here.x

Blueskies4 · 26/11/2023 22:44

@Claudiasaz that’s a really good way of putting it and food for thought, especially since my cycles have been dodgy and it’s been so frustrating too! You just want a clean page but sometimes need a break don’t you..

Positive I haven’t started spotting yet this cycle and I’m the furthest I’ve been in with no spotting since July (cd19) so 🤞🏻they return to normal on their own!

Roxystar23 · 27/11/2023 10:02

Good Morning Everyone.

@mumsince2021 Sure - Here’s my timeline of events – Hope it helps a little:
16th August – Natural MC – I was just over 10 weeks.
W/C 4th October – I finally got my negative pregnancy test. It took 7 weeks for it to leave my system.
17th October – First period following MC.
17th November – Negative Pregnancy Test.
24th November – Positive Pregnancy Test.

@bluebunny2 – Great news that your cycles seem on track!
@Blueskies4 – Crossing everything for you that your cycles return to normal in the near future too!

I’m still processing the news, I'm terrified every time I wipe when I go to the toilet. I’m also scared as I think I might have a UTI and I know I need to get this sorted ASAP as I read that this can cause a MC – I need to stop googling really as I keep scaring myself silly. I'm really hoping this one sticks...

Rose2108 · 27/11/2023 10:19

Hi all, I've been lurking on this forum since having an early miscarriage last month. Im sorry to read about what you have all been going through. It's odd how it makes you feel better just reading that others have experienced the same thing as you!

At what would have been 7 weeks I started bleeding, went to EPU and they scanned me and said they found nothing. I then had the bloods taken and they called me to say they were "negative" and no further tests were needed. I assumed this meant my hcg was zero. I am annoyed at myself for not taking a pregnancy test in the following weeks. I only bled for 5 days and it was just like a period really, no pain. I reckon it probably stopped growing shortly after conception.

That was about four weeks ago and I assumed I would be on my period now. We haven't been actively TTC and with various illnesses and my bleeding we've only dtd twice, and i don't know when I ovulated (or if i did!). As I am now a few days late, I took a test this morning which showed a faint positive. I don't really know what on earth to think!

Im thinking surely I wouldn't still have any hcg in my system, I started the bleeding on 30 Oct and the bloods on 31st were "negative". I know the logical thing to do is call the gp and ask for blood tests but instead I am writing a post on mumsnet, such is life!!! I also can't fathom that im actually pregnant.

Help, opinions, handhold, slap around the face welcome x

Blueskies4 · 27/11/2023 12:05

@Roxystar23 bless you, pregnancy after miscarriage is really tough. Please get booked in with your GP so they can do a test and get some antibiotics sorted if you do and then that’s one less thing to worry about.

It’s also so much easier said than done but the Googling can be the worst can’t it!

Hi @Rose2108 welcome to the group. I’m really sorry to hear about your miscarriage, hoping it’s a gentle congratulations for you on your positive. I’ve never had my bloods taken by the doctors to check my hcg, but it may be worth taking a test in a few days time to see if it’s getting darker? (Definite best bet is the docs though!) xx

Claudiasaz · 27/11/2023 13:11

@Roxystar23 I think you can tell by our reactions that were all rooting for you! Completely understandable how you feel but the odds are good for pregnancy after MC. Take it day by day. Xx

@Rose2108 So sorry about your miscarriage. I had a faint positive a month later I don't know if that helps. If I was in your position I'd probably ask for a blood test or something to put my mind at rest to know if it's a new pregnancy? Hoping for you that it is if the time is right for you ❤️

ThelastRolo20 · 27/11/2023 17:22

So I'm having ovulation signs, loads of EWCM but my OPKs are still very blank. I know it's unlikely but I'm convincing myself I'm not going to ovulate. There's barely a hint of a line on OPK and I should be ovulating tomorrow 😞 if I wasn't testing I'd be convinced I was in my fertile window! So frustrating

Rose2108 · 27/11/2023 20:11

Thank you. I've just had a bit of spotting so think I'm coming on my period. Testing positive at 8am and having a period at 8pm 🤣 the joys of TTC! It would be really really lucky if it was a positive! I think I'll have to test again in a few days.

@ThelastRolo20 I could never get those things to work. I had to ditch them in the end as they made me crazy!

Cat2022 · 27/11/2023 20:27

@ThelastRolo20 i am the exact same lots of EWCM and due to ovulate within the next day or so but very faint OPKs

ThelastRolo20 · 27/11/2023 20:34

@Rose2108 what a rollercoaster! I won't give an opinion either way as could be period, could be pregnancy - hope you get an answer soon @Cat2022 so frustrating isn't it. What brand are you using?

Claudiasaz · 27/11/2023 20:40

Ladies can't say I trust the ov tests after my experience. If you see the egg whites go for it x

Cat2022 · 27/11/2023 22:33

@ThelastRolo20 One step just cheap ones off Amazon, which are you using?

@Claudiasaz yeah I definitely think listening to your body is the best way, been trying to keep up every other day this month just in case 😂

ThelastRolo20 · 28/11/2023 05:56

@Cat2022 same, if it doesn't work out this month I might ditch them next month @Claudiasaz we did have sex Sunday and will attempt tonight if colds allow - without a positive OPK not feeling hopeful but I guess you never know!

Cat2022 · 28/11/2023 09:34

I used bbt tracking with my daughter but the trouble this time is I’m still not getting consistent sleep so not sure how accurate it would be but I preferred that to OPKs
