Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

11dpo and still negative. I kind of want my period to come now so I can have a cry and move on.

😞 that sucks, I'm sorry! Hopefully you'll get a BFP or your period tomorrow. I was like that last cycle when I got to cd31 but I came on midday

I’m CD13 today and just posted on another thread about this…is anyone using clearblue digital opks? My holder malfunctioned today after I’d already flushed my wee so the instructions said to retest in 4 hours. Has anyone had this and are the results reliable? I really need to know when I’ve ovulated as I can only start my medication after ovulation.

And if the tests don’t work, is there any other way I can tell? (Assuming it’s too late for me to check my temperature?)

Hi all I'm absolutely not TTC as our family is complete but we have 4 children and it's so lovely to hear other people wanted large families sometimes we feel a bit like the odd ones out 😂

I'm 9 DPO today. Have been obsessively symptom spotting but also very aware that lots of my symptoms could mean absolutely nothing! 🫣

I'm determined not to test until AF is due which is Wednesday but we'll see if I can hold off that long.

Sorry it's still not positive 😔 I got a negative result at 12dpo with DD2 and then positive on day of AF a couple of days later so there's still a chance 🙏

I'm using CB OPKs. I messed up one of the tests this cycle and so did a hold then test & it seemed to work ok as I still got my smiley face on the day I'd expect. To be extra sure though, I'd maybe just DTD today as well. How long are your cycles?

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow Im sorry I can’t help you much with the clear blue as I only ever use the cheapies… could you not retest sooner? I have read it can last a while.. I got my positive last night and I will check soon to see if it’s still positive around lunch 😊

My husband only agreed to have three if I agreed to have 4 if he wanted to hahah.. I sort of understand his logic because 3 you become a big family and the only reason for us not having a very big family is for financial reasons.

@MacNut That’s so good you haven’t tested yet it is crazy testing so early but I did it last cycle so I’m crazy too 😂 most ladies don’t get a positive anyway until around AF but we will still text early 🤦‍♀️

Thanks @MacNut - good to know. My cycles are 29 days and when I conceived my other kids I tended to ovulate on the slightly later side (so cd16/17), but not sure anymore! This is our first cycle ttc no 3 and my first time tracking in years. I’m CD13 so I think it is probably too early to see a peak yet.

The issue is that I have to take steroids from ovulation (because I had recurrent mcs). If I start them too early they can prevent ovulation, and if I start them too late it can mean I mc, so timing is crucial. Definitely planning to try to DTD every day for the rest of this week 🤣.
Feeling annoyed with myself that I wasn’t doing cheapies alongside CB. Will do that next month.

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow ah that's interesting on the steroids. Do you have to take them anyway or just because TTC? I also had recurrent MCs between no1 and no2 but obviously this time I'm not under the recurrent MC clinic so feeling a bit arggggh about it if I do get a BFP. I also ovulate later so we sound quite similar. Your OPK should be fine on a 4 hour hold though!

@HappyValleyFan1 no the steroids are for ttc - I had 3 mcs, had the treatment then had DC1, accidentally conceived again and started the steroids late (bfp instead of ovulation) and miscarried again, then back on the steroids and had DC2.

I take prednisolone from ovulation for the first trimester. From what I understand it suppresses the immune system - without it my body essentially rejects the pregnancy as an intruder! After I had DC1 I almost wondered if the success of the pregnant was a fluke, but when I had the 4th mc between DCs 1 and 2 it confirmed to me that it worked and was necessary. I was treated by Mr Shehata at the CRP clinic (various threads about his protocol on the boards) but this time my GP has agreed to prescribe the same protocol which is great as don’t have to pay the eye watering costs, but also means I can’t access all the scans and add ons etc. And I feel like I’ve basically forgotten all the tracking etc as last time we ttc was Feb 2020!

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I’ve attached my ovulation chart it’s still showing positive but my peak was last night.. but if I hadn’t of tested last night todays one would of still shown positive

i’m 38 and DH is 42. I have 2 DC from a previous relationship who are 7&5. I didn’t think I wanted any more but DH was very broody and I’ve decided this is our last chance so fully on board now! DH doesn’t have any DC but is fantastic with my DC

we’ve been trying for 6 months now and it’s getting me down. We DTD so much this month that I convinced myself it would be our month but I’m now getting cramps and think I’m out. I’m so devastated and think the boat has probably sailed on us. My period is due in about 5 days but my cycle has been all over the place lately too ☹️

Ive just retested and got flashing smiley (ie negative) which is what I expected for today as not really any EWCM yet. (And now starting to get stressed about that 🤣).

For anyone using the digital opks, how many flashing days do you typically get? This is day 3 for me.

Your position sounds similar to mine - I have 2DC (6 & 9) from a previous relationship so this would be the first baby with new DP (although he has an older DC already from a previous relationship as well!).

We're also due AF on the same day so fingers crossed we both get good news. You're not out yet!

welcome to the group @AFeastForCrows cramps around this time could also be a good sign, try not to get to dishearten, you still have to go get your BFP.
when will you test or will you wait until AF is due?

Thanks for the encouragement! I I’m usually quite chill but for some reason this month has got to me.

I can’t even remember my symptoms with my older DC as one only took the first month and the other was while I was on the pill 🤦🏻‍♀️

@AFeastForCrows I also can’t really remember too.. I know it was sore boobs but that happens before AF too 🤦‍♀️ are you going to hold off testing?
