Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

I have 2 DDs already and love having 2 girls. My DP has a DS from a previous relationship (he's a teenager now). So we do have at least one of each between us. I'd be more than happy with either this time.... would be nice for me to experience being a mum of a boy but would also love to add to my girl gang ❤️

Is anyone else a spreadsheet geek? Feel like I'm losing track of where you all are in your cycles and want to track it 😆

I'm now 6 DPO

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 07/08/2023 21:09

I’m pretty sure I’m out this month - the dreaded period feeling has started. It looks like this is another 23/24 day cycle 😭

HopefullMumto4 · 07/08/2023 21:19

I'm cd12 with a positive opk today 😬 so almost in the TWW.

@Clettercletterthatsbetter not all cramps are bad cramps 🤞🤞

That’s true, but it feels remarkably like every other month… I’ll keep hoping! And in the meantime DH has an appointment to wank in a cup tomorrow!

GinAndBearIt90 · 07/08/2023 21:36

@HappyValleyFan1 the sex thing annoys me too!! We have 2 boys so everyone will assume we are probably just trying again for a girl...but we've always wanted 3 regardless of who we have! I think I'd be a little sad if I never experienced both, but now that our 2 boys are a bit older and interacting more I keep thinking how I'd love another son! We've decided we won't find out until birth again this final time round. A healthy baby is all we want ultimately and I love the surprise 🥰

AnaReis · 07/08/2023 23:17

HappyValleyFan1 · 07/08/2023 19:52

@GinAndBearIt90 that makes sense, anything to distract you I say!

@AnaReis I had private MC investigations (as was still on NHS waiting list) and nothing obvious so we were literally about to have egg collection for IVF so the embryos could be karyotyped when DS snuck in there the cycle before 🥰 I had quite a lot of meds throughout which I know I wouldn't get this time if it was to happen so it all feels a bit scary going it alone so to speak 😬
40 is still pretty average in the TTC world I think!

I don't know of anyone else finds this but I think people think we're done as we have 'one of each' it's never been about that for us though 😁

Omg in Portugal they say "you have a couple now" as in, one of each! Right, and then there comes the third to mess things up 🤣

Oh spreadsheet away! 😅 I'm on CD11, not sure if I have fertile mucous yet 🤔 I have to pay more attention tomorrow.... Although we've been DTD 😅

Oh no! I know what you mean... But even there there's always hope! I almost always have spotting before AF shows up, but with my second I had 1 day of spotting, cramping and no period... You're not out until AF shows up!

In my case, even when I'm spotting I'm always hopeful it might be the same as when I got pregnant with my 2nd 🤦🏻‍♀️I've started taking my BBT which will help since if the temp drops twords the end of the cycle I'll know AF is about to show up 🙄

I have a question for the mums of 3+. What happens usually when your kids are ill? I ask this because I'm slightly traumatised after the last 2 Autumns/Winters post lockdowns 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ we had "virusmageddon" as a friend put it and it was absolutely draining. Literally every week someone was ill!... I wonder if with 3 those weeks might be extended even more 🥴 I have to create an isolation room in the house 🤣 but seriously I'm already dreading Autumn 😱😭

It’s…interesting. In our house it means a lot of juggling sick kids, working from home and taking time off of it’s the little one who’s ill. We don’t have any family nearby to help so it can cause chaos. Luckily I have an understanding boss as it’s usually me who has to take the time off. Right now I’m living in blissful ignorance of the fact winter (and it’s associated viruses) is around the corner!

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 08/08/2023 17:44

@AnaReis i don’t think it can ever be as bad as that post lockdown winter because everyone’s immune system had taken a battering! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Rightnow1245 · 08/08/2023 18:23

Hi everyone can I join?
I am also a little insane and feel like it’s a big jump going for number 3.. my husband has finally accepted defeat and agreed to have a 3rd 😝
I’m 33 and on cycle number 2, last month I didn’t use opk and totally missed ovulation.. I’m due to ovulate any day really but the opks are still showing negative.. what day is everyone on? I’m on CD12 x

It's the same here.... when someone is ill they only want me!.... We don't have family nearby and we're starting to build our network of friends (we moved up North 1y ago), so when they're ill it's all on us!......

Oh I hope not! The 1st winter both me and DH had to be on antibiotics because of a hellish cold we all got (wasn't even COVID!). I got a bad UTI from the cold and had to go to A&E on my own (lovely experience!... NOT! fortunately the male nurse tending to me was quite hot 😅at least there was something to cheer me up lols).
This last winter we had to take my youngest to A&E because of croup and I was so drained that I think I got depressed.... Also because my mum died in Jan 2022 and all together it was just too much....
Anyway, I really hope this Autumn/Winter is a little gentler... pretty pleeease!!...

Hi there! Welcome to the boat of insane people! 😅Poor men, they don't really stand a chance do they? 😅🤦🏻‍♀️ How old are your kiddies?

I'm on CD 12 too funnily enough! I'm trying to take my BBT, not sure if I'm doing it right because my youngest has a cold and a stuffy nose, meaning that he wakes up about 103298923410 times per night 😵so I'm not sure if the temp will show anything... I also can't see fertile mucous, but I've been so busy that I don't even have time to notice.... I'm feeling heightened libido, which I usually have around ovulation and we've been DTD every night, which is keeping DH very happy 😅
Oh well.... fingers crossed! 😅

Hi @AnaReis.. That good we are on the same day of our cycle.. when day do you normally ovulate? Oh yeah bet he is hahaha.. I’m only doing every other day as that’s what we did leading up to ovulation and worked with my two boys.. we normally make sure we DtD on the day of positive opk and day after.. we will see 🥰
my boys are almost 6 and 3.5 so I wanna get pregnant asap as this gap with be bigger than I wanted 😊wish he said yes earlier tbh!!!

how old are your kids? X

HopefullMumto4 · 08/08/2023 19:03

Yeah that winter post lockdown was brutal! It felt like we were all constantly unwell for like 6 months.

Ordinarily as long as I can somewhat seperate the three of them they don't all get sick at the same time anymore which is a small mercy! Usually it's just two of them at once and I can split myself in two better than three lol

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 08/08/2023 19:54

@AnaReis I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. I lost my dad in December 2020 so I can imagine how you feel 😥

It varies, usually it's around the 14th, but if the cycle is longer it can be later. At the moment I have absolutely no fertile mucous whatsoever, I managed to check lool not sure what's going to happen this month 🤷🏻‍♀️

My kids are 7 (will be 8 in October) and 3.5, so the gap between our youngest will be the same!

I really like the 4y in between. It gave me time to dedicate myself to my eldest and she was a bit more independent when her younger brother was born, she'd help me by doing small stuff like bringing me nappies and wipes and I feel like she understood things better (although in the first months she wanted to hold him all the time, she kept trying to kiss him especially when he was asleep 😅 sometimes would make noise on purpose 😭).
On the other hand they now have very different interests which can be a challenge, but even if they were closer in age they still have very different personalities so that would always be tricky. Sometimes one wants to go out and the other wants to stay home, one wants to go left and the other wants to go right 😖 🥴😵‍💫
We also home educate, which is in itself yet another challenge 😅😅

oh Wow yeah home ed must be hard with the age gap@AnaReis .. I am just worried because my 2 boys are so close they like and do the same stuff.. they also fight so much 😂😂
I feel like the age gap would be nice as both my boys will be at school in September 24 so it would give me time with the baby.
