Anyone trying for a 3rd child?

We've started 3 cycles ago trying for our 3rd. I'm going to be 41 soon and both me and DH feel exactly the same about this, feels like going for a 3rd is a bit insane, with all the challenges in logistics, but at the same time it feels like we both really want it ❤️ We're sort of going for a leap of faith... is anyone in the same boat?

Also in the bit insane camp here going for a 3rd 🙋🏻‍♀️

I already have 2 DC from a different relationship so this will be my first with new DP.

We started off saying we'll be relaxed about it but 3rd cycle here too and I've started using OPKs!

Where are you in your cycle? I'm 5 DPO

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 06/08/2023 16:54

If you’re insane then I must be completely deranged - we’re trying for number 4!

Can I join you? I was on a buddy thread before but everyone except me got
pregnant 😭

Cycle 6 here, 7dpo today. Have used OPKs for all those cycles so I know we’re timing things right, but still no BFP.

We’ve just kicked off fertility investigations with the GP - I didn’t think we’d end up here but here we are!

HopefullMumto4 · 06/08/2023 17:09

Trying for no4 here 🙈

I really thought I was done after no3 but apparently not. I'm actually a bit scared to announce even before I've gotten pregnant because of peoples "you're insane" reactions

I'm only on cycle 1 (well came off contraception mid cycle last cycle so I guess 1.5)

I'm on CD10, I'm getting completely confused about my cycle. I might start taking by BBT to be able to pinpoint my ovulation, just because my cycles sometimes are 25 days and sometimes can be 29 days or more and then I think I'm pregnant 😣 (and I can't keep myself from POAS as I have lots of those cheap tests 😅).

My kids are 7 (almost 8) and 3 and a half, how old are your children ladies? Oh and I'm going to be 41 soon too 🙄 so I definitely feel like the clock is ticking...

Omg you made me laugh 🤣

I'm sorry you've been trying for 6 cycles with no success yet 😣 that's good that the GP is helping ❤️ I wonder if I should book an appointment too just to request some blood tests or something, due to my age 🤔

Hi there! I really hope this feeling of wanting one more disappears after my 3rd or else I'm damned 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

And yes, my own father's comment after I mentioned I might not be done after 2 kids was "I wouldn't do that if I were you!" gee thanks for the encouragement dad! 😖😖😖

Trying for our 3rd here, so would like to join! Glad I'm not the only one feeling a little insane 🙈 all my friends are stopping at 2! DH and I have always wanted 3 so we are just going for it, will be our last. I've a 3yo and a 15 month old so hoping for another 2 year gap 🤞

I'm currently 3 days 'late' (CD 33) but taking it with a pinch of salt as I've only recently had 2 periods since my last baby (still bf him) and my last cycle was 36 days so I'm not going to test until then in case AF shows. I did start OPKs this cycle just to see what was going on and so am technically 16 DPO today! We only DTD once and it was the day after my peak/strong ovulation pains so I figured was too late!! Will find out soon I suppose!! 😂

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 07/08/2023 06:12

@AnaReis my cycles are similar to yours - I used to be like clockwork, every 29 days, but the past year they’ve ranged from 23 to 29 days. I’m worried my luteal phase often isn’t long enough to get pregnant.

My children are the same age as yours too (with one in the middle) - I have 7 (nearly 8), 5 (nearly 6) and 3.5.

MacNut · 07/08/2023 08:43

I'm 36. My DC are 9 & 6 - even if I get pregnant in the next couple of cycles it'll be a 10 & 7yr age gap! Not exactly what I would've planned but I can definitely see some advantages.

I've been thinking about doing BBT as well. I did that with ttc #2 and it did help me to understand that I was ovulating earlier than 'average'. Will see how I feel after this cycle.

Have also spent a fortune on Proceive vitamins this month 🫣

Sorry for the negative comments some of you have received. People can be so unnecessarily rude 🙄 I haven't officially told anyone we're trying but lots of friends keep making jokes about it so they're clearly expecting it soon!

Welcome to our little corner of people who like big families and don't really care to chip away even more at their sanity 😅
Ooh good luck with the wait! I hope you get your BFP! I'm not a person to be able to wait so I admire you 💪🏻 but it does make me a bit insane trying to look at the test really hard to find a line that hasn't been there 🤪🤣
My husband is the oldest of 3 although he has a brother who is 4y younger than him and a sister who is 16y younger! That was nice for his parents as they did help a lot with her when she was little and maybe that's why he's so good with kids 🤔
I'm the oldest of 2 but somehow, don't know why, I've always wanted 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
I'm going to be 41 in October so it will be our last too (although I have friends who had kids well into their 40s so you never know 😅).

I worry the same about the luteal phase... I've began doing BTT today precisely because of that 🙄
Oh you have children the same age! Yeah I wasn't brave enough to go for one before I had a big age gap as my daughter was so demanding 🥴 although having 2 was demanding as well and that's why I waited 3 years again 😅

@GinAndBearIt90 forgot to say that I'm also breastfeeding my 3yo :) I was breastfeeding my daughter at 3yo when I got pregnant with my second. Been bf nonstop for almost 8y now lol 🥴

Mine are a similar age too! 8 (nearly 9), 7 and 5.5!

It's going to be so weird having such a big gap this time.

Funhouse8 · 07/08/2023 12:35

Me! I love a busy home and madness. Big age gap however, but I'm sure we will figure it all out!

Thanks! No AF yet today but I just don't feel pregnant at all so I'm guessing will show up in the next day or 2! I just don't like testing early because I'd rather not get a negative and I also don't want to spend much money on tests 🙈 so I've only done my positive pregnancy tests with my 2 sons after I knew AF wasn't coming. No squinting needed! But I know I'm in the minority and most test early and I understand why 😊

DH and I were both eldest of 3 so I think that feels right for us! We just feel like someone is missing.

Fingers crossed for you for this cycle!

Aww 8 years! So amazing!! I bf my eldest through half my second pregnancy and the first trimester was so tough 🤢🤢 I was so aversive to it! Chose to stop before 3rd trimester as I decided I wasn't going to tandem feed, and wanted a gap before baby started so he didn't feel the baby was stealing his milk away from him! I think I will do the same this time as it worked well for us 😊

MacNut · 07/08/2023 13:25

@GinAndBearIt90 I am envious of your resistance to testing! Keeping my fingers crossed for you as sounds positive 🤞

I tested early last cycle as we were going on holiday and I wanted to know before leaving. But I'm going to try to hold off until AF is due this time.... 😬

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 07/08/2023 13:30

I’m terrible for early testing. I’ve tested today and yesterday despite knowing it probably wouldn’t show that early even if I was pregnant!

HopefullMumto4 · 07/08/2023 14:26

I've already told myself I absolutely WILL NOT test until at least 9dpo because I know that's the earliest I have ever gotten a positive. I wonder how many DPO I'll last 🤣🤣

HappyValleyFan1 · 07/08/2023 14:34

@AnaReis could literally have written this word for word BUT I'd say we're a bit more half NTNP as in I'm not tracking ov strictly.
We never wanted to 'try' for a baby but DC2 came after multiple MCs and a lot of heartache so we're trying to be more chill this time. We went back and forth for a long time as we didn't know if we could face the further heartache if we were to keep miscarrying again but here we are.

I'm 32 so time is still on my side but have low AMH and the prev MCs working against us. Have DD whose 5 and DS 15months. Currently CD16 and don't think ov has happened yet. We're away on holiday so sleeping arrangements can be a bit precarious getting the small ones to sleep but hoping to DTD tonight 😁

GinAndBearIt90 · 07/08/2023 15:26

@MacNut it definitely makes sense to check before on holiday! See I'm currently on holiday and will be home on CD36 which was my last cycle length so I will buy a test if it hasn't shown by then. It makes it easier not to buy them when you are abroad I've found!! Also ignorantly enjoying some pate and wine while I still can 🙈😅 Will add some to my shopping delivery that evening!

I'm so sorry about the MCs 😔 did the Dr's give you any explanation about the MCs?
Having low AMH doesn't mean it's impossible, but I understand that it might make things more challenging.
Oh yes and hols can make DTD quite challenging 😅

Hello! Cycle 1 TTC baby 3 here! Also feel crazy and a bit scared. DH and I are both one of 3 and I just feel like there is someone missing, though I really had to persuade him into it and he’s only just agreed.

I’m 36 and kids are 5 and nearly 3 with a 2.5 year age gap, so looking at a 6 and 3.5 year age gap (minimum) this time. I was worried that would be too big so feel reassured that there are others here with the same or bigger!

HappyValleyFan1 · 07/08/2023 19:52

@GinAndBearIt90 that makes sense, anything to distract you I say!

@AnaReis I had private MC investigations (as was still on NHS waiting list) and nothing obvious so we were literally about to have egg collection for IVF so the embryos could be karyotyped when DS snuck in there the cycle before 🥰 I had quite a lot of meds throughout which I know I wouldn't get this time if it was to happen so it all feels a bit scary going it alone so to speak 😬
40 is still pretty average in the TTC world I think!

I don't know of anyone else finds this but I think people think we're done as we have 'one of each' it's never been about that for us though 😁

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 07/08/2023 20:15

Yes same @HappyValleyFan1 - we’ve also got one of each. After our DD was born so many people congratulated us as though we had somehow planned it like that 🤣.

I totally don’t mind about the sex of baby 3. If it’s a boy then I think DD might feel less like a middle child, as she’d be the only girl, but if it’s a girl then it might be logistically easier for stuff like room sharing. Basically would be absolutely delighted with either.
