Everything crossed for you following your IUI @VixFromThe6ix 🤍

good luck if you decide to test today @El1988 !! Let us know how you get on 🥰

still hoping you’re not out this cycle @JustTrying1 🤞🏻 I went out for pizza last night and everything tasted sour..so bizarre but obviously I’m putting it down to symptom spotting and it being all in my head 😂

when are you thinking of testing @EvelynKatie ?

El1988 · 20/09/2023 07:50

Negative this morning, but I guess that’s not too weird for 8/9DPO… I’ll wait a few more days now to see how I get on…

JustTrying1 · 20/09/2023 07:57

Thanks @H0pefull, me too but I guess I'm just in one of those negative mind frames today 😩 You never know with the sour taste, sensitivity to certain tastes and smells is a symptom isn't it? 🤞

Aww I'm sorry @El1988 - like you say its early days so fingers crossed for a few days time 🤞

It feels like most of us are due to test over the course of the next week! 🤞

H0pefull · 20/09/2023 08:01

Ahh sorry to hear that @El1988 , but like you say it’s still early so not out yet 🤞🏻
completely know what you mean @JustTrying1 , it’s so hard to get out of that frame of mine too isn’t it once you’re in it. We should get time off work for TWW😂😂

SouthwestSis · 20/09/2023 08:04

Oh flip @H0pefull I hope you don't have covid!

I managed to get a positive OPK for the first time yesterday on CD16 which was exciting.
Going to focus on reducing stress levels over the next week and also keeping my caffeine intake down. Best of luck for a calm rest of the week for all of you

El1988 · 20/09/2023 08:44

@H0pefull and @JustTrying1 thank you for the kind words… I kind of have the feeling that I’m out for this month regardless - no sore boobs, nothing really… although with my MMC my boobs weren’t constantly sore when I was “pregnant” - and I didn’t test positive until 12DPO…

help, this is taking over my life… I’m feeling so tired and low, and I really didn’t think I would still be doing my job for at least another 9 -10 months… I started this job thinking (naively) that I would get pregnant straight away, and then they couldn’t fire me (in Germany it’s insanely difficult to fire a pregnant woman) and then I would only have to work for like 9-10 months and be “off” for a year… instead I have another year or more of this super stressful work which is also really not helping my cause 😩

Now I’m feeling like an idiot for putting off trying for so long… anyways, I’m sorry, rant over now… thank you for listening/reading…

EvelynKatie · 20/09/2023 08:48

@JustTrying1 Thankfully my bad mood seems to have ended, although might change after a full day at work 😂 yes it doesn't help me and DH both WFH, I lock myself away in one room when in a particularly grumpy mood!

9DPO now and my temp actually went back up a bit this morning. But otherwise still feel completely normal so just thinking not this cycle. I've got the biggest hormonal spot ever on my chin, it's very angry and sore, my hormonal breakouts have to be the worst thing about the TWW!

El1988 · 20/09/2023 08:49

And to add insult to injury I just cut my finger on the foil of the package of my prenatal vitamins 😩

EvelynKatie · 20/09/2023 08:50

Work is quite stressful at the moment, and it will be even more so this time next year. I keep mentioning to DH it would really be great if I was starting on maternity leave this time next year!

JustTrying1 · 20/09/2023 09:08

Completely agree with having time off to endure the TWW @H0pefull but at the same time I think I'd drive myself more potty!! 😂 Can't win! 😂

That sounds like a good plan @SouthwestSis !

@El1988 that is the ironic thing - you might not have any symptoms at all, with the only one being late AF! We sit here reading every twinge or difference in our bodies over this TWW but realistically there may not be any and get the BFP 🤞

Rant all you want here though! Don't be sorry for that! I'm in a similar situation - tried with my ex and we nearly went for IVF (split up just before) and with my DH we said for 7 years that we didn't want children and earlier this year our mentalities changed and I sometimes think "what if we'd have done this sooner...". But you can't dwell on it too much because it is what it is and life / situations change. You know when you are ready.

@EvelynKatie I've already pre-warned my DH of my mood... he just shrugged and went to his study. I'm sat in the kitchen today so I can watch TV (our systems are down so I can't work!). Might do some studying if they aren't back this afternoon.... take my mind off TTC!
Yay for the temp increase! Hoping mine does that tomorrow because I think the drop is contributing to my sulky mood... although it was the DH that reminded me that temp drop happens at implantation 😂

El1988 · 20/09/2023 11:09

@JustTrying1 thank you… I will just go for a walk at lunch time now I think, and try to listen to a funny podcast, and not one of my 5 million fertility/TTC podcasts 🙈

I did hear something last night about if you have a retroverted uterus/cervix (like if you’ve been for the cervical check and the nurse has said that your cervix is in an awkward place to get at) that you’re supposed to do 10 mins on your front after DTD and 10 mins on your back, to bathe the cervix in semen (lol sorry for the turn of phrase!)

we’re booked in to the fertility clinic later this month if I’m not pregnant this month (which I doubt I am) so I’ll ask the dr about the retroverted uterus thing and if there’s anything to rotating yourself like a kebab after DTD 🙈

CurlyWurly1991 · 20/09/2023 11:40

@El1988 haha ! I can definitely see myself rotating like a kebab after dtd. I have one of those tilted uteruses. Gah, the glamour of TTC eh?

@VixFromThe6ix good to hear that you are on the other side of IUI, although sorry to learn your partner’s swimmers didn’t get a 5* rating. Hopefully the procedure gives them the best chance, they only need to get themselves up the Fallopian tube. Interesting about the HCG trigger, I guess it could be good to have a very good reason not to test early. It will certainly save some heartache and £££ too.

I’m looking forward to hearing about some BFPs here soon…

I think I have finally ovulated this cycle, two high temps in a row following setting an alarm for 6.30 and taking temp then. However these don’t quite match up with my positive Opk so either my temps didn’t rise straight after ovulation/had a fallback rise (making me 5dpo) or I missed the Opk peak and I’m 2dpo. Unfortunately if it’s the latter we didn’t dtd at the right time so no chance of pregnancy. Either way, I’m just looking forward to this cycle coming to an end soon at cd50 !

SnookyPook · 20/09/2023 11:46

@CurlyWurly1991 you trooper! A 50 day cycle doesn't sound fun at all!!

@El1988 that's interesting! I know from my first pregnancy and then from my scan when I miscarried that I have a retroverted uterus. No-one has made a big thing of it or alluded to it being problematic. I have also managed to conceive 3 times without rotating like a kebab (!! Haha) but who knows... maybe it would speed the process up!

H0pefull · 20/09/2023 12:17

@El1988 sorry you’re having such a bad day and feeling low, but please don’t apologise for ranting here! We are all going through it together and can lift eachother up in times like this.
it’s all consuming isn’t it especially when you’re not necessarily happy at work, you can’t even use it as a positive distraction / focus. I hope your day picks up a bit, be kind to yourself tonight xxx

FigandHoney · 20/09/2023 14:53

@El1988 Sorry you are feeling sad at the moment. I can massively relate as it is exactly what I went through when we were TTC our first.
If you can at all, I would try not to put off the rest of your life (changing jobs, etc) until you have conceived. It's what I did and in the end we conceived after I made positive changes to make my life happier. I definitely know that's easier said then done.

@SnookyPook That's interesting about your retroverted uterus. I always wondered if I have that, but nobody ever mentioned it to me.

@CurlyWurly1991 I think it is sometimes possible to have a bit of a delay in the rising BBT. Not entirely sure. Also sperm can survive for 5 days inside of you.

@JustTrying1 Not sure how old you are. But most people in my NCT group were 40 or over. And several of them just had their second babies too.

@Aintthatthetooth Everything crossed this IUI works for you

So my spotting seems to stop in the mornings. And then I get some spotting in the early afternoon. This has now gone on for almost 4 days. The whole situation is just weird.
AF is due on Saturday. But we are going to the parents in law for the weekend on Friday.
I am tempted to test. I am waiting for some first response to arrive from amazon tomorrow. But I snagged a digital early response one from clear blue today. Just not sure if I am simply kidding myself. Maybe I should just wait for AF.

Do you test with your partners or alone?

EvelynKatie · 20/09/2023 15:09

@FigandHoney Personally I just test alone, although only ever done 1 pregnancy test which was last cycle. This cycle I'm only going to test when AF is due, which should be Friday/Saturday.

Mostly feel normal, just slightly sore/tender right boob, which always seems to be that one boob! Also got some light cramps/light stabbing pains going down so definitely think AF is on it's way anyway. Will see how my temp is tomorrow morning and if it comes back down. It does seem to slowly come down 2-3 days before AF going off my previous 2 cycles.

MOGMOGMOG85 · 20/09/2023 15:13

@VixFromThe6ix I didn't see your update but I'm crossing everything for you this cycle xxx

@El1988 when i tried for my son (it took 2 years!!!) It took over my life, it was horrendous. This time I've been remarkably chilled (with the odd wobble) but I must admit this 12 month mark is stinging... would you recommend any of your podcasts?

I'm wondering if I should be temping and ovulation testing as a lot of you are. I tested 1 cycle to check for a surge. I've had the blood tests whilst trying for my son and my cycles have always been very regular, which all leads me to believe I'm ovulating?? I don't want to get too obsessed with this but at the same time I do want to be pregnant.

Given my age I'm planning to get onto proceive max this month. I'm also thinking of trying preseed? We used it for around 6 months when trying for my son and it did Nada, but maybe I'm willing to give it another go?

Does anyone have any tips for partners sperm quality? I bought him some "my expert midwife" supplements but am considering proceive for men...

FigandHoney · 20/09/2023 15:17

@EvelynKatie I made my husband dip it last time we fell pregnant. Cause I couldn't cope with the BFNs anymore.

What I would say is that it is normal for BBT temperatures to fluctuate even if you are pregnant. Whilst BBT cam be an indicator, really it only serves to confirm ovulation. Nothing else.

MOGMOGMOG85 · 20/09/2023 15:21

CD25 and although at CD23 I was convinced I was out, and I'm trying to tell myself I still believe that, deep down my mind is doing the typical thing of "oh that was a weird dream - PREGNANT! You look a bit glow-y - PREGNANT! You cramped at 8DPO OMG PREGNANT!!!" ugh its exhausting :,(

EvelynKatie · 20/09/2023 15:26

@MOGMOGMOG85 I just used Clearblue advanced this month for OPKs to see how it goes. Not sure of I want to go down the route of the cheapies and taking photos etc. I have enough CB tests for next month too so will use them again then consider.

I have an Apple watch which takes your temp throughout the night whilst you're asleep, and it does seem to follow the pattern well of increasing after the my positive OPK then staying higher etc. It feeds into fertility friend app too which also displays my resting heart rate and sleep hours from my watch. It's interesting to see how my resting heart rate rises in the luteal phase.

MOGMOGMOG85 · 20/09/2023 15:30

@EvelynKatie wow I feel like a luddite over here trying to work out where my thermometer has gone xD

Cressie2 · 20/09/2023 17:48

@Angelsrose congratulations! So happy for you.

FigandHoney · 20/09/2023 18:19

Well the cheap easy@home test strips I ordered from amazon were on the doorstep when I arrived. So I cracked and did a rest. Starck negative. So not going to bother with the clear blue digital I got.
Not sure if I should mention the fact I spotted for a week before AF to my GP. This has never happened before.
Anyone know what other reasons there might be for spotting like that?

Eirlys1986 · 20/09/2023 18:30

@Angelsrose congratulations! Just saw your wonderful news on checking up on the thread! Xxxx

MrsBP15 · 20/09/2023 18:37

Hi all congratulations @Angelsrose 🎉 great news!! To those in TWW or getting period, good luck!

I’m CD26 and period due tomorrow, almost certainly on the way what with spotting and cramps so I’m out. This is cycle 7 for us.

the doctor called about my day 21 tests and I was on the train which is annoying. However, everything is normal (not sure what everything covers but hey ho) she said that in terms of progesterone I was at about 45? She mentioned something about not wanting to be below 25 so I feel 45 is pretty good?

any thoughts or musings on this very welcome! Next step is going private to look into a laparoscopy for possible endo…
