@EvelynKatie I get that. Tbh I don't think I could tell you what normal is for me - I don't even know. I'm only on my first proper cycle (I say that because I came off the pill in June and didn't see AF until 1st Sept). I can guarantee even if sore nips are my normal they will always be a potential pregnancy symptom every month from now though .... even if I am only on 4DPO 🫣😂

EvelynKatie · 18/09/2023 18:06

@JustTrying1 It's definitely strange coming off the pill and experiencing normal hormones throughout my cycle again. The sore boobs thing was a surprise, and CM! I'd been on pill for pretty much 18 years maybe.

JustTrying1 · 18/09/2023 18:10

@EvelynKatie the CM is something I can confidently say that I've never noticed before! And I've come off the pill a few times just to give my body a break.

Are you taking any additional vitamins? I'm overweight (trying to lose) and my diet was shocking before TTC. It's improved massively now but to help I've also started taking conception plus. I'm also on folic acid (prescribed by the doc after my blood tests).

EvelynKatie · 18/09/2023 18:15

I've been taking folic acid since coming off the pill at end of June. I've always taken vitamins anyway, and I have a balanced diet but bloody love my treats so to try make up for it I do lots of exercise 😂 which I was worried would actually be harmful but did some reading and discovered it's helpful! I bought the newer apple watch and it's really interesting watching my basal temp change and showing me when ovulation likely occured.

CurlyWurly1991 · 18/09/2023 18:31

@Supertrooper101 welcome, so very sorry to hear about your loss. I also have symptoms like that after ovulation, I think they are often caused by high progesterone at that time. Which is what makes the two week wait so difficult!
like you I have been pregnant 10 years ago.
Day 2 tests definitely exist because my GP has ordered them for me, along with day 21, 28, 35 (depending on the length of my cycle on that occasion)
Is it the LH/FSH tests you are looking for on day 2?

Im having a very frustrating cycle. Day 49ish now and my body has attempted to ovulate 3 times and it hasn’t worked.
On the third attempt to ovulate I even had a peak OPK. It didn’t however go back down to baseline and continued to hover at 0.4-0.5. Temping has been very helpful, if I wasn’t doing that I would be even more in the dark.

Supertrooper101 · 18/09/2023 18:32

@JustTrying1 ive been reading about the time lines re age and nhs as at first she said 2yrs lol i was like no, am sure its a year so she just agreed. I made a back up appointment with a different gp for friday tho so going to have another chat and see what there opinion is. I know i dont qualify for ivf but surely theres another things.
@worldwidetravel2017 you seem to be clued up on what the nhs should/could be offering, have you any tips for me before i see the gp 🙂. Also the £150 bloods you had done. Did you say that was for 4 sets of bloods only or other stuff too?

VixFromThe6ix · 18/09/2023 18:40

@Supertrooper101 Sorry to hear about your bad news earlier in the year. I think at 41 it's safe to say you should be seen after 6 mos of trying. That goes for anyone over 35 so I would pressure your GP to do more testing if need be. Otherwise my fingers are crossed for you for some good news soon

The 150 gbp 4 hertility health - very worthwhile
You get an indepth report - not just in medical jargon form but also written so yoiu can understand
As a min - they look at- at least 8 cruical things ..
They picked up a pelvic issue on mine - nhs scans then found a small fibroid...

Honestly for 150 gbp - the HH money is very worth it - its done on day 3 of your cycle - amh - lh - thyroid some stuff , shbg etc - so much is looked at
I had one done this june
Also march last yr ..

Nhs wise its tricky

Did you ever have tsh and t4 - thyroid stuff checked ?
Tommys miscarriage support tool suggested that to me since my recent early miscarriage - ive just paid 65 gbp 2 get that done via boots...

I had scans done as suspected pcos but some other figures like my testosterone figures dont coralate / fit as pcos

Tommys are ace for advice. Tommys baby charity

I am over 35
And was told that gynae wait is min 66 weeks
And its often min a year wait now in some areas

(. Was told that b4 we tried 2 concieve and had early miscarriage)

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/09/2023 19:09

@Supertrooper101 def ask for full blood count
But additionally - ask 4 vit d - b12 - feretin

All 3 of those are important in conception and pregnancy

The book it starts with an egg is v good

Coq10 helps egg quality in over 35s - its in the egg book about it - friends of mine doing ivf take it - American fertility drs swear by it

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/09/2023 19:11

Superdrug offer private progesterone tests 4 40gbp - check progesterone 3 days after ovulation

I check ovulation twice a day am n pm

We were very lucky 2 conceive 2nd cycle trying

Just unlucky with early miscarriage
Early miscarriage is common for first pregnancy but that doesnt make it easier

narwhalsarereal · 18/09/2023 19:20

Hi all

I'm 36 & planning to start TTC during my October cycle.

I've been on vitamins with folic acid, iron vitamins b & d for months now and started coq10 last week.

I'm due on tomorrow, so I think ovulation should fall on 7th Oct according to the flo app, so will be trying specifically that weekend as currently myself & my partner don't live together (that is changing v soon).

I'm thinking of using pre-seed fertility lubricant when ttc as I've heard good things.

I'm hoping and hoping we manage to conceive quickly as we are so ready for a baby.

Supertrooper101 · 18/09/2023 19:49

@CurlyWurly1991 i never had those symptons after ovulation before the miscarrige though.. i get the shortness of breath too which makes sense with the progesterone...but...ive now spotted for 2 days before AF today so god knows lol...the day 2 from what i read gives a more accurate fsh and also estrodial, so a better idea of egg quantity and if your still in the fertility brackets or not. I knew they still did days 2, not sure why the gp had to lie, off course am going to get another opinion lol
@worldwidetravel2017
They did my tsh etc and was 1.5 so normal. Prolactin was normal. I have heamochromotosis so potentially iron overload so my ferritin is check every 3 mths.hsd my vit d and b12 done last year. Both higher than average. I do supplement alot tho and ubinquol is added in that. Just checked that blood site out. Looks good. Tweaked the answers tho as i want the bloods for dhea done along with the amh etc, but nhs wont do dhea

Supertrooper101 · 18/09/2023 19:56

@worldwidetravel2017 forgot to ask, you said with your bloods you got a detailed report too,dd you opt for the consulation with bloods too making it £188? Or did that report come standard with the £149? So plsd i saw your comment on that site, i was looking at medichecks and its soooo expensive! This one, £149 for all you get seems very fair. The progesteone test you are having from boots, is that just like a day 21 blood test then?

Report comes as part of the 150 gbp
Theres so much info and advice

Progesterone test - super drug - 3 days after ovulation - its hard 4 me 2 time with NHS n blood test slots - easier 2 do it that way 40 gbp

Boots - 65 gbp - thyroid test - due to recent early miscarriage

Supertrooper101 · 18/09/2023 20:17

@worldwidetravel2017 thanks for that. Defo gona book the blood set.. want a referal from the gp for a private saline scan so need to takle that 1st. Dont understand why i need a referral if were the ones paying for it 🤷‍♀️
After the mmc i was shocked and hurt. I called the drs and said the eau (where i had the d&c) said i should have a hormone panal done so she did the tsh prolactin fsh lh estradiol. Eau didnt actually say that but i needed to know what my body was doing so took my chance lol

MOGMOGMOG85 · 18/09/2023 20:53

Feeling knackered, hormonal and sad rn. Coming up to a year ttc, CD23 and I'm cramping. My cycles lately have been 26 days. They used to be 29 before my son, then 27 after him, now 26, and now I'm cramping on day 23. I looked it up and it can be a sign of perimenopause. I'm 38. I'm feeling really down.

On the plus side I fancied Pancakes so I just made some delicious ones...

Hope everyone else is doing a bit better..

Cressie2 · 18/09/2023 21:18

@SnookyPook I’m also gearing up to the same fertile week. Let’s do this!

@MOGMOGMOG85 all sorts of factors can influence your cycle. 38 years old is still young so don’t give up hope. I hope your GP can help you too though as sounds like a tough year 💕

CurlyWurly1991 · 18/09/2023 21:19

@MOGMOGMOG85 so sorry you are feeling that way.
It’s a hard old slog, isn’t it. I’ve been feeling pretty crap today too.
Like others I can’t concentrate on much else. Keep seeing babies everywhere and little kids. It really hurts!
Pancakes sound good and just what the doctor ordered. What are you having with them?

MOGMOGMOG85 · 18/09/2023 21:27

Thanks everyone. Sorry to hear you're feeling crap too @CurlyWurly1991 - I made a mexican-y bean dish with sour cream and cheese, spring onions and tomatoes. Then ate 3 and was too full to make pudding Pancakes which surely is the only point? V yummy though xxx

Eirlys1986 · 18/09/2023 22:09

@MOGMOGMOG85 sounds delicious! I’ve just eaten a mixed bean dish with some Greek yoghurt so very similar tea times for us! I’m so sorry you are feeling crappy, it is very wearing. 38 would be quite young for good going perimenopause since most women on average have menopause at 51 (of course some are much earlier but most are not), you should hopefully have some good years left in you yet for baby making! I know it’s just such a stressy panic when you are just waiting and waiting and feeling time ticking. Hope you get to enjoy pudding pancakes tomorrow xxx

spacewitch10 · 18/09/2023 22:53

Hello, I hope it's ok to jump on this thread!
I've just turned 37 and currently 1dpo cycle #1 of trying. We dtd 3 days before ovulation... so not sure I caught ovulation as dh has had to go away for a few days unexpectedly.
Never had a problem with getting pregnant before (both times very quick but I was 26 & 32)
Obviously age and timing of dtd has got me worried as to whether I'll be successful this time.
Has anyone in this group fallen pregnant 3 days before ovulation?!

Good luck to everyone ✨

Cressie2 · 19/09/2023 08:22

Welcome @spacewitch10
I fell pregnant with my first born from having sex on the day before and day of ovulation. You can still get pregnant 3 days before you ovulate though (even up to 5 days but the chances are much smaller):

🤞🏻for you

When Is Your Fertility Window? | babyMed.com

You only have 5-6 fertile days in your cycle to get pregnant.

@Cressie2 thank you! And thanks for the link. I guess only time will tell 🤞🏼
