i can really relate @JustTrying1
the first cycle I felt pregnant and told DH that much… regretted it afterwards when I got the bfns
ive tried to be really careful what I share with him since, but it’s really difficult when they are going through it by your side.
in general my impression from MN is that a lot of partners are super positive whereas it’s the mother to be that is more hesitant and cautious. I am trying to be realistic with DH and tell him it might not happen, various factors are against us, etc. That doesn’t mean there isn’t hope that it will succeed , just some realism.
I was convinced first time that it would never happen and it did, I think many people have that experience. But I was over 10 years younger…

Exactly this! I worry my DH thinks I've got no hope or excitement about it but it's not that at all, it's just being realistic because I know how difficult and emotional it can be - and that's by my own past experience too.

He does understand but I think deep down there's also the worry for me that if he's THIS excited and it doesn't happen, what next? We've already discussed adoption and that'll come if we exhaust all other options.

We've gone from 1 extreme to another too - we both agreed we didn't want children and he's always known about my past. But now we have settled in our forever home we decided we did want to try. It's weird seeing him so excited by something that once wasn't even something we would entertain 😆

Despite the realistic approach I STILL find myself symptom spotting. Own. Worst. Enemy. 🫣

VixFromThe6ix · 17/09/2023 17:38

@JustTrying1 I think being realistic is better than being overly optimistic. I maybe shouldn't, but I share it all with my partner. I show him every little squinter and he's usually the one that doesn't show excitement early because we've been here before. But he understands why I get excited. I told him once he's stuck with a stick peeing obsessed crazy. And he said you're not crazy, you are doing so much for us because you really want this baby. So it's nice to know he understands what we go through. Even if theory.
Also, symptom spotting is terrible. It literally gives you hop and takes it away several times a day depending on whether I feel something or I don't lol I'm usually a headstrong and strong willed person, except when it comes to symptom spotting and testing super early.

I woke up to a super high LH reading. I panicked because my IUI is scheduled for tomorrow. I called the clinic to see if maybe we should come in today instead. I was told because I told ovidrel last night is the reason. But last cycle we took ovidrel too and I didn't have a surging line the next day. So I'm a little worried that I'm ovulating tomorrow and as a result might miss my window if the IUI procedure happens after my eggs are released. I was told not to worry about it but it's just hard. I want to trust that these nurses and doctors know what they are doing. But if I wake up tomorrow and I have a lighter line than I did today, I'd feel like I may have missed my window as insemination should be done before ovulation. Gah.

@VixFromThe6ix it is really difficult! I'm the same, I'm normally very head strong. Although I don't want DH to lose his optimistic approach and I am happy that he is excited, I try to be head strong in front of him but inside my head.... LOL completely different story 🫣

I know it's hard but try not to worry what tomorrow will bring. You've spoken to them and they had the opportunity to tell you if it would be an issue. Out of curiosity what is IUI - is that another form of IVF?

Cressie2 · 17/09/2023 18:13

A belated welcome @JustTrying13DPO… keeping fingers and toes crossed for you.

@MixedCoupleI’m so sorry to hear this. I’m hopeful that this is your month.

I’ve been following all of your messages and finally finished AF. @CurlyWurly1991 , seconded, your link was really helpful.

@MrsBP15 i have never checked my cervix and not going to add it to my list either! I’m going to just try and enjoy the process of trying this month and eat super healthily (after having reallllly enjoyed myself over the past 10 days of AF.- Wine and cheese helped!)

IUI is insemination basically. I come for bloods and ultrasound to measure my hormone levels , number of mature follicles and uterine wall thickness, take some meds that make me ovulate and help develop a mature egg, my partner provides his sample. They clean it up and inject it into my cervix before I ovulate. It's not as expensive as IVF but also not as effective. They can't tell me if I released an egg, for example. It's a step we are taking while we wait for IVF.

@Cressie2 thank you 🥰

@VixFromThe6ix ah thank you for explaining! I'll have to look at that option too I think. We want to exhaust all options before we entertain adoption really (just so we can say we tried everything to conceive naturally).

@CurlyWurly1991 I actually missed the link you shared but I've just been back to it. Like everyone else I thank you - very insightful!

BB2023 · 17/09/2023 19:03

Hi ladies - just catching up. I've been keeping a bit of a low profile as not much to report. My AF finished and I'm now CD11. Low readings on OV tests currently but would expect to move to high in the next few days then hopefully a peak by Fri/Sat🤞🤞🤞

@MrsBP15 I’ve never tracked CM, I tried once on my app but it felt like it was different every day and I couldn’t understand what I was really looking for! 🫣

@SouthwestSis Good luck for this cycle - I usually OV around CD17 so keep testing. I normally start using Clearblue OV tests about CD8 which is a bit early but I like to see it go from low to high to peak then it makes me feel like it’s going in order! 🤣

@VixFromThe6ix Sorry if this is a stupid question but could you DTD tonight and still do IUI tomorrow?

MOGMOGMOG85 · 17/09/2023 19:36

Hi everyone, I've dipped out of this thread for a couple of months now - also nothing to report. I'm day 22 of my cycle today, have been super irritable this weekend which is normal for me but I can't help wondering if its a bit more intense this time? Have also felt a bit dizzy and tired. Saw more discharge than usual. But also hate myself for symptom spotting.

This cycle will be a year trying. I turned 38 a few months ago - 1 son who took 22 cycles to conceive with 1 early miscarriage at the 16 month mark.

As soon as I get paid I'm buying proceive max and will give that a go for a few months.

Listening to 28ish days later podcast and learned that men's testosterone takes a nosedive for years after marriage and kids so kinda feeling like my partners sperm might be in worse shape than it was first time around which is not very inspiring!

In other news (to lighten it up) I farted in my yoga class last week and now I don't want to go back!!!

Sorry I've probably missed loads of updates on here - I really hope there's been some success stories! Xxx

VixFromThe6ix · 17/09/2023 19:53

@JustTrying1 ah yes try researching this option, see if it's for you. I really am dreading Ivf so I hope and pray this one works for us.

@BB2023 they say not to ejaculate for 2-5 days prior to giving the sample. So unfortunately we can't DTD. It's one big downside. We basically can't DTD during this process around my ovulation. We can potentially DTD tomorrow but I have a feeling that tomorrow is my ovulation based on my opk reading.

@MOGMOGMOG85 welcome back!!! Sorry to hear it's been a year already for you. I had my first at 38, so fingers crossed proceive helps and you get your BFP.
I only tried yoga once, but I'm under the impression that many people fart at yoga. So much stretching!!!! I farted when I drank too much wine with another couple we had over, so if I managed to face them again, you can definitely face a bunch of strangers who probably forgot it even happened hehe

So zi just started spotting / bleeding. It is red so pretty sure it is AF. But she has come very early. I am only CD23. And although I didn't track religiously when we weren't TTC, everything I did it was pretty much bang on CD28 that AF came.

SouthwestSis · 18/09/2023 07:06

Eugh do you ever have days where you can't even be bothers to do ovulation tests cos you're not in the mood for sex even if it was a raging positive!?
Feeling very Monday blues this morning, and working the weekend too so not even got that to look forward to :(

El1988 · 18/09/2023 08:20

Hi hi! Just catching up a bit here!

@CurlyWurly1991 yes, AMH is relevant for IVF because it helps the dr get a rough idea of how many eggs you might get per IVF cycle. However it’s also relevant generally, as it kind of gives you an idea of how many eggs you have left, I.e. until menopause. (Said with the caveat that I am not an expert or medically trained in any way, I am just an obsessive researcher).

@VixFromThe6ix really hoping your IUI goes/went well! 🤞🤞🤞 that this is the one that works for you!

@MOGMOGMOG85 I think we are all our own worst enemies with the symptom spotting, I’m looking at the high temperatures on my graph being like ooooh I wonder 👀 walking around the apartment squeezing my boobs to see if they’re sore or feel bigger (6/7 DPO today). I mean I doubt it this month, but part of me can’t stop hoping.

Also, I wouldn’t worry about farting in the yoga class! We’ve all been there, but just brazen it out, I say! Everyone will have been too caught up in their own stuff, they’ll have forgotten all about it by next week!

going to go to try and focus on work now even though all I can think about is “am I pregnant? Probably not, but wouldn’t be wonderful if I was! But be realistic, you’re more than likely not pregnant. So if you’re not pregnant this cycle, when will the next ovulation be? Ok and when would a baby that was conceived then be due?” Like literally this is my brain going round and round in a circle now, and meanwhile work keeps piling up 😔 does anyone know of a way to just function normally while TTC and not be completely consumed by it?

ironically I have been finding knitting a baby set for my best friend a good distraction, but I need to be able to focus on work again… all tips and tricks very welcome!

JustTrying1 · 18/09/2023 09:51

@El1988 "squeezing my boobs to see if they are sore or feel bigger" 😂 Exactly me!! I had sore nips yesterday at 3DPO but eventually I realised that's probably because I kept poking them 😆

Unfortunately I don't know how anyone functions normally while TTC! I've tried, that only ever last on average two weeks but as soon as I reach TWW it all goes out the window and before I know it I'm questioning EVERYTHING as a pregnancy symptom! Equally keen for advice on how to possibly 'park' the thoughts when at work! 🫣

SnookyPook · 18/09/2023 12:05

Ahahaha those farting in yoga comments have really cheered me up - thank you! (Also this is why I just do Yoga with Adrienne at home 😂)

Oof... joining you in crap employee solidarity. I just can't focus. What with TTC and then two losses in the space of 8 months my mind is just everywhere except work. TTC sabbaticals should be a thing! I feel awful but not awful enough to Just Concentrate.

Gearing up for fertile week again... does anyone know if it's likely to be shifted after a CP? Hope you're all ok. X

I had a chemical pregnancy last month and this month i am pregnant again by some miracle :) my fertile window was the same xx

FigandHoney · 18/09/2023 13:02

@SnookyPook Totally get the being distracted at work. Thankfully I have been mostly on holiday this first month TTC. But tomorrow I will go back and know I will be completely distracted.
Can't help you with your question about the fertile week. Do you use OPKs?
@El1988 I totally do the squeezing of the boobs 😅
@SouthwestSis I can totally relate to just not being in the mood. That's why this second time I really want to avoid TTC becoming a chore. But I know it will be easier said then done
@MOGMOGMOG85 Oh that's not great about men's testosterone taking a nosedive.
Hilarious about the fact though. Must be all the relaxing of the muscles. Surely you can't be the first.
@VixFromThe6ix Fingers Xed the IUI does the trick and you fall pregnant this cycle.

Woke up to no spotting and another high BBT temperature. Got hopeful. But then the spotting started up again. It was only light brown. But just has gone rust coloured again.
I did use to spot for a few days pre period before having my son. But since I had my son AF usually comes in hot ans heavy. As in I usually wake up drenched in blood.
But if this is an early AF I wish it would just properly start already. So I know for sure and can start focusing and starting again in the next cycle.
I did not have implantation bleeding with my first baby either. In fact the lack of spotting was my main indicator it finally happened.
So I know I am probably just kidding myself Holding on to hope that this is implantation bleeding and that by some miracle we conceived in the first month.

SnookyPook · 18/09/2023 13:32

@Twdfn123 ah this fills me with hope, thank you! 🥰 How are you doing so far? Think I remember you contemplating booking an early scan in?

@FigandHoney yeah using opks so we shall see what this cycle brings... Hope you get a definitive answer on AF soon - being in limbo is awful!

Supertrooper101 · 18/09/2023 16:33

Hello :) i have just caught up on your thread. Basically......my story..... 41yrs, started ttc january and caught straight away 🙂...12wk scan earlyer april confirmed heartbewt had stopped around 8wk 3days 🙁... had a d&c a couple of days later. Periods have been a little different since, bleeding 7days, or 3 or 5. Biggest problem for me was 5/6 days after ovulation i would get implantation symptons, backache, bloating, nausea, headache, cramps, mood swings etc....then be fine for several days then get AF, very confusing. So 6mths on still no postive and thinking...well whats wrong lol... had an internal scan as i was convinced the d&c had scarred me 🤷‍♀️ came back fine. Had bloods done mid cycle, they were fine. Just asked for day 2 & 21 bloods done and gp said they dont do day 2 anymore? Booked day 21 tho but its the day 2 i wanted more. Gp dosent seem very interested anymore lol think she feels like, well shes had a scan, shes hsd bloods, come back nxt april after a year of trying and we will look again. Seems abit unfair given my age and its also 10yrs since i was pregnant with my son. So theres my little rant and to say hello x

EvelynKatie · 18/09/2023 16:51

I'm 7DPO and had the usual sore boobs, otherwise just feel normal. Already feeling like it'll be a BFN month!

JustTrying1 · 18/09/2023 17:22

Welcome @Supertrooper101
So sorry to hear of your heartache earlier this year. Your GP should be doing more about it now if you have been TTC for 6+ months as to my knowledge you don't have to wait a year when you reach a certain age. I'd push them to do more if you wish to go down the IVF route.

@EvelynKatie I'm going through the sore nips stage right now (4DPO). Its very rare I get anything like that and I've never been pregnant so I don't even know what to expect from my body... trying not to read too much into it but it is SO hard. Why do you think it will be a BFN this month?

I've never had the sore nips, just feeling like my boobs in general are a bit sore/tender, but nothing major.
I don't know, I guess just because I feel so 'normal' that it won't be my month! I'm only on cycle 3 so prepared for it to take much longer.

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/09/2023 17:57

Had very sore / sensitive nips when i was pregnant 4 a short time but not everyone does
