Congrats @FiddleLeaf ! 🎉🎉🎉

I got my BFP on Saturday. Did three separate brands (one of which was the clearblue digital with the weeks one) and still having to resist the urge to keep testing just to double check I definitely am pregnant! I keep also thinking that I must be dreaming. It’s so surreal.

SnookyPook · 19/07/2023 00:20

@Scarletthoping ah congratulations! That's lovely news! 😊

@FiddleLeaf so glad you've had a nice strong line on your official testing day! Definitely enjoy this moment!! 🥳

Eirlys1986 · 19/07/2023 07:33

@Scarletthoping congratulations 🎉 xxxx

Scarletthoping · 19/07/2023 08:55

Thanks so much @FiddleLeaf and @Eirlys1986 !

Hope you all get to experience this really soon! Love and baby dust to all ✨

Bumblebee413 · 19/07/2023 08:57

Huge congratulations @FiddleLeaf and @Scarletthoping !

My DH has headed off this morning BUT I got a positive OPK this morning and we managed a cheeky session both this morning and last night. We might be in with a genuine chance this month- crazy!

I am a little puzzled about peaks and ovulation though. Is this 0DPO or -2DPO? 🤔

SnookyPook · 19/07/2023 09:22

@Bumblebee413 I believe once you get your peak it indicates that you will ovulate within 12-24hrs. But if course when you test your peak it could have already been peak for a few hours I guess... Normally safe to anticipate ovulation by the next day. The the egg lives I think another 12-24 hours. So possibly a maximum of two days after your peak you might be in luck. That's my understanding anyway! But sounds like you've given yourself a great chance managing it twice at peak time! 🤞🏻

Bumblebee413 · 19/07/2023 09:31

@SnookyPook thank you! Fingers crossed for unicorn tears during my super life window. Any valley or torment buddies? I’m going to work on not announcing a pregnancy to you guys before testing this time 😂

Eirlys1986 · 19/07/2023 11:25

@Bumblebee413 you’ve definitely given yourself a good chance, hopefully the swimmers shall be ready and waiting when eggy bounces down to meet them! 😂 👍🏻 xxx

Bumblebee413 · 19/07/2023 12:33

I’m so ridiculously chuffed that we in theory have been able to DTD around the right time, irrespective of whether it actually works this time. We’ve been trying for this since February 😂 Little things!

Eirlys1986 · 19/07/2023 12:49

😊 @Bumblebee413 its just really nice to have the hope and excitement of that in a cycle I think 😚 xx

RoseH36 · 19/07/2023 14:01

@Scarletthoping congratulations!

@Bumblebee413 I never know when to count from either 😂 I think last time I counted DPO from the day after what would have been my second peak day.

MOGMOGMOG85 · 20/07/2023 21:20

Hello - anyone just entering the 2ww now? Day 14 for me... thought I felt something pop on my left hand side in the shower, forced DH to dtd despite him being tired.

Is anyone else struggling with the actual dtd bit?? Dh has low sex drive and although he always manages i feel a bit disheartened that it seems more of a struggle than it used to! Over 30 months of trying (only 8 this time around so far) total plus 11 years together takes its toll I guess!

I just read having sex the day before ovulation is the best time... also read eggs are physically harder to fertilise at our age!

Feeling daunted and worried I'm gonna be really sad this time if it doesn't work xx

Eirlys1986 · 20/07/2023 21:27

@MOGMOGMOG85 omg you will find soooo many ladies on here have the same situation with their partners about difficulties doing enough deed! Lord knows I love my gentleman but it is hard work for both of us! 😂 We really would rather have a nice floop infront of the telly together. I’m day 7 now and we’ve just had a very business like chat over a cuppa in the kitchen about what the plan of action is with Dtd over next few days! 😆. We’ve been together 19 years now, have a 21 month old….sex is hard work 😂.
I really hope it works out for you this month, it’s difficult not to get hopes up very high when a lot of effort has gone into things and the timing is all right xxx

MOGMOGMOG85 · 20/07/2023 21:32

@Eirlys1986 thanks so much for your reply - it does make it better to know its not just us who don't have an absolutely fantastic time "trying"!!

If only flopping in front of the TV watching a true crime documentary could knock me up, my son would have a tonne of siblings! Xxx

Eirlys1986 · 20/07/2023 21:52

😂 @MOGMOGMOG85 making a murderer would result in triplets surely?! 😆

Bumblebee413 · 20/07/2023 21:52

@MOGMOGMOG85 I’ll be your valley of torment buddy :)

There is something so strange about DTD when you know you wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t a certain date or if a pee stick hadn’t told you it was a good idea. Definitely takes away a good chunk of romance/ spontaneity! And definitely a struggle when you’re shattered and already have one small person.

VixFromThe6ix · 21/07/2023 04:19

Congrats @Scarletthoping !

@MOGMOGMOG85 haha that's us. We used to hump like bunnies, up to 3 times a day. Now, if we do it 3 times a months it's an accomplishment. Planned sex is so not exciting. Plus with an 18mos old we are just tired all the time. I so rather do nothing in front of the tv for an hour after our son is asleep.

RoseH36 · 21/07/2023 07:39

Totally with you all, we only DTD on the two peak days, definitely takes a lot of the fun from it when you know it's planned but needs must. It is hard gearing yourself up for it though as you know it doesn't matter how tired you are you need to give it a go as that's the best chance of the month.

Day 1 of testing for ovulation for me today, time to see if the cheaper Easy@Home match up with Clearblue. Will let you all know.

Stephy1024 · 21/07/2023 18:59

I need some advice ladies. I had a mmc in April, had to go back to the hospital in May to have treatment for leftover tissue. I had my first proper period in June. But is it normal to just bleed randomly after a mmc? This might sound dumb but I really don't know. We notice I'm bleeding when we have sex or just after. I spotted for 3 days about a week after my period and can just randomly bleed at times. Today I was heavy bleeding for about 2 hours and now it's stopped. I'm due on my period in 5 days. This never happened to me before my mmc. I feel so disheartened that we're never going to get pregnant again because there is something wrong with me 😔.
Is this just my body and hormones settling down?

Eirlys1986 · 21/07/2023 20:11

@Stephy1024 I also had a MMC in June after trying for our second child and I’m so sorry you’ve also had to go through that, it is truely heartbreaking. It can be entirely normal for it to take a few cycles for things to settle back to normal after MMC with irregular bleeding but that doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant during those cycles. Actually data shows you have a higher chance of conceiving the first month or two after a miscarriage oddly (although I know a lot of ladies on here have found this to not be the case for themselves but we are all different). We are just about to start trying again this cycle as my period has returned and I know it is scary and all kinds of horrid thoughts go through your head as it’s so hard to trust your body again after something like this has happened.
The bleeding after sex can sometimes be related to hormonal changes in pregnancy making the cervix more irritable but I think at this amount of time after a MMC I would have expected that to settle. So if it continues it’s worth booking with your GP or nurse for swabs and an exam to rule out infection or any cervix polyps etc. I hope this is helpful. Xxxx

RoseH36 · 22/07/2023 11:49

@Stephy1024 2 hours of heavy bleeding sounds a lot. Can you call EPAU for some advice?

Day 2 of testing, Clearblue is showing high today! The Easy@Home is still showing low but the line is darker than yesterday. I'll try another later and see if that's any different..... I feel like I'm doing some kind of science experiment 😅

Eirlys1986 · 22/07/2023 12:07

Perhaps the clear blue is showing high as it compares things against a baseline for you I think from when you start testing whereas cheaper at home kits obviously do not? 🤔, good luck and good plan to retest again later

Mrsspoon3 · 22/07/2023 21:56

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing ok! I have a quick question for all you ladies who do the cheap strip OPKs. I’ve just started using these as can’t afford clearblue anymore! I got a dark positive one yesterday at 10pm after a couple of days of negatives that were getting darker. This morning I tested at 8am and it was lighter than last night. Does that mean I will have ovulated at some point between 10pm and 8am?
I wasn’t able to dtd until 9pm this evening due to work things and our toddler not sleeping, so I’m guessing that would mean it would be too late? But just wanted to check if anyone has more knowledge on this!

Also totally with you all on ttc sex often being a bit of a chore, and also would rather be watching tv haha 😂

Eirlys1986 · 22/07/2023 22:05

@Mrsspoon3 from what you describe your LH hormone surge will have happened around 10pm last night or thereabouts and after the surge levels drop off so that’s why the morning test is lighter most likely. You ovulate anywhere between 24-48 hours post surge but usually around 24 hours is my understanding. After the egg is released it will “live” for 24 hours and then if not fertilised it’s finished. So…..if surge was around last night then you may have ovulated sometime today most likely so it’s possible with fast swimmers you may be in with a chance 👍🏻, equally perhaps more of a chance if you ovulate closer to the 48 hour mark as then sperm should hopefully be in tubes ready and waiting. I shall keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!

Mrsspoon3 · 22/07/2023 22:16

Thanks so much @Eirlys1986, that’s really helpful! 😊 Praying we’re still in with a chance!
How are you getting on?
