I can see lots of TWW threads for end of April but I thought I’d start one for any of us who are 1dpo in early May.

I’m 1dpo today. Fourth cycle of trying for second baby. Ovulation day came a week early for us this week, but we DTD 3 times in the fertile window so I’m hopeful.

I don’t remember getting any early symptoms with my last pregnancy.

I usually test waaaay too much. So get ready to see loads of iffy faint lines -ha!

What about you?

I'm in my window, flashing smiley again today for the 3rd day in a row so expecting peak over the next couple of days. Feeling so nervous about DTD knowing I can get pregnant, I know it's what me and DH want but I'm a terrible overthinker and it's such a HUGE decision and massive life change. Last month when I got AF though I was annoyed and disappointed. Anyone else feel like this at all?

HavinKittens · 30/05/2023 10:44

I can understand having mixed feelings, @CinderRosie , it is a huge life changing decision!

I am keen to have a second child, but I am scared of going back to those early baby days, and not particularly keen to be pregnant again (the physical side of things IYSWIM) although at this stage I will be so grateful if we manage to have a healthy pregnancy as I am beginning to worry about secondary infertility.

Your first is 18, right?

@CinderRosie this is also me. Not sure of your history as I haven't read back but I am contemplating/trying for number 3, but still a little unsure. When AF turned up last month I felt disappointed though!

fleur89 · 30/05/2023 11:33

Thank you ladies. Thinking I was out I drank wine over the weekend as I mentioned I would - whoops!!

Will keep you all posted. If EPU don't see me tomorrow then I'll go private. I'm wasting just as much money peeing on sticks so may as well.

CinderRosie · 30/05/2023 11:52

@HavinKittens yep he is 18 and I was 18 when I had him so it was a huge adjustment... I know I would cope better this time round for a million different reasons but also remember how much hard work everything is. DH has no kids though, and cannot wait to be a Dad. I think I am just overthinking things!
@Unicorn25 glad it is not just me feeling these mixed emotions.

CinderRosie · 30/05/2023 11:59

And fingers crossed for you @fleur89 x

fleur89 · 30/05/2023 14:59

Thank you 💗
A nurse at EPU called me back and took note of my symptoms. I've been told to do a walk-in tomorrow for a scan to check all is okay. Hopefully I'll get some answers tomorrow.

They said they'll only do bloods if they can't see anything on the scan. If the scan looks okay then I'll get bloods done privately for peace of mind that hcg is rising on track.

Just had a really dark OPK! Can’t believe I’m ovulating as early in my cycle as this. Thankfully we DTD today and a couple days ago, so hopefully in with a chance even though ovulation has totally snuck up on me.

can someone explain why clearblue early tests promise to give a result 6 days before missed period but everything I read online about testing 9dpo says it’s very early.

period due on Sunday / Monday. Today is Tuesday (ie period due in 5/6 days) and negative test this morning. Pic of the test pack attached

Ah @fleur89 we cross posted. Good to hear from you. Really hope you get some good news at epau. Will be thinking of you!

@HavinKittens when do you usually ovulate? Think we were really similar last cycle.

I've tried to have a mental break from sticks, reading forums etc im on CD13 but as im getting closer, im getting the itch to test. Think im going to give in!

Does anyone else find the whole TTC stressful? Who are these people that say it is fun?

Wish you luck this cycle!

DmcinT · 30/05/2023 17:33

@Kat4257 so it kinda depends on when u implant, some ppl implant as early as 6 dpo so can detect hcg at 9 dpo and get a positive test result. Others (most ppl) implant day 8/9/10 so you wouldn’t get a positive until 2/3 days after this, maybe longer

@HavinKittens i got peak today too🎉 we dtd Sunday and today and will tomorrow now too🤞🏽 Everything crossed for u too xx

@Optimistic66 I can’t believe how stressful the whole thing is tbh.. we had a MMC end of March though so that’s thrown me all off but please god this is our month (&urs) for a healthy pregnancy xx

fleur89 · 30/05/2023 17:36

@Kat4257 I used this exact test 2-3 days before my period was due and it was negative. They have a higher threshold than FRER and cheapies such as Easy@Home.
I didn't bother testing on a digital again until 3-4 days after my period and it was then positive.
I'm not a great case study though as I'm having a very weird time of it all this month!
But I would say it's probably better to test on high sensitivity cheapies until you're more confident of lines, then do a digital for reassurance and confirmation. Otherwise you may just be testing too early for your body to respond as we're all different. Could lead to a false negative and also those digitals cost a fortune. Easy@home is like 40p per pee which is easier to swallow.
Wishing you lots of luck!

Kat4257 · 30/05/2023 17:42

@fleur89 @DmcinT thank you so much for the detailled responses!!

so why does clear blue advertise the 78%?! If it’s not actually 78% then how is it legal?

fleur89 · 30/05/2023 17:56

I guess it could be 78% and a bunch of us are in the 22%.

With the digitals you can't see line progression/ very faint positive - it's very black and white.

I actually took last week's negative test apart 😂 Unfortunately it doesn't work like strip tests inside, there were 3 lines on my negative digital test inside which confused me so I threw it all in the bin.

Kat4257 · 30/05/2023 18:00

That test made me so sad!! Considering I’ve been trying for only this one month and I’ve got a healthy 16mo baby… but still can’t help letting my mind run off and persuade me this is the start of a very long road ahead

Kat4257 · 30/05/2023 18:10

Basically I’m not sure to what extent I should give up hope for this month

Definitely in with a chance. Isn't it today and then next 2 days?

Don't give up hope for this month yet. Test again closer to the weekend.

HavinKittens · 30/05/2023 18:42

@Optimistic66 I had been ovulating cd21-22. Then last month it was cd16 and this time it seems like cd15. I thought the last month was a fluke and it might average out but seems like my cycle is shortening. I’m hoping that’s a good thing?!

I’m happy to know I have you, @DmcinT and @CinderRosie as company for the 2ww though

I am finding ttc pretty stressful. I think partly because I’m a control freak, but also I have close relatives who needed IVF and I am scared of needing to go down the route.

FindMyRainbow · 30/05/2023 19:38

Wow @fleur89 quite the journey, hope its smooth sailing after your scan tomorrow and you get good news.

@HavinKittens good luck!! What CD was that for you?

I'm going to be waaay behind all of you now! I had an extra long cycle at 34 days and AF arrived yesterday after some real confusion and 2 BFNs. Looking back I wonder if I ovulated later than I thought...I'd got to day 8 of flashing smileys so had stopped but who knows, just trying to evaluate for better knowledge next cycle. Can't believe we're nearly into June. Bit upsetting really when the months disappear on us.

@Optimistic66 I'm with you. I think the problem is over thinking it all though which can't be helped sometimes...

SoItGoesAgain · 31/05/2023 07:38

@FindMyRainbow not that far behind. I think there's a big mix on this group now.
I'm CD 13 but haven't ovulated yet.
How long is your period usually?

HavinKittens · 31/05/2023 08:29

@FindMyRainbow I’m CD15 today and had my peak yesterday afternoon, so probably ovulating today if I haven’t already. There is a whole mix of stages in the thread though.

Hope your scan goes okay today @fleur89 x

OP posts:
PollyDarton1 · 31/05/2023 09:13

Hey all, @fleur89 I hope the scan goes okay Flowers

I'm CD 17, still not peaking on OPK but estimated ovulation date is CD19 so will dtd tonight and tomorrow, I've not felt 100% last couple of days (just think I'm burnt out) so not hopeful for this cycle really!

I had the results back from my Hertility tests which were really positive. All my results were inside the range that was normal apart from my AMH which was slightly elevated - I have PCOS though so was to be expected, but even I was surprised it wasn't as high as it could have been and looking around the internet it seemed the pmol/L of 29 was pretty well within the normal range. It means at 38 I have a good egg reserve still which was great news as I really wasn't sure.

Me and DP are considering this month as the first real TTC month (so cycle 1) and if by December we've not conceived will go to the doctors. I already have a 7 year old DS so won't be eligible for IVF though.

I just became an aunty for the first time too this weekend so the broodiness is unreal Smile

fleur89 · 31/05/2023 09:18

Thank you everyone, sitting in the waiting room now. My bbt is really low at 36.3, it's dropped from 37.1 before I started bleeding. Not really feeling that hopeful but lines are getting stronger. If things look viable on the scan I'll push for progesterone supplements.

CinderRosie · 31/05/2023 09:59

Thinking of you @fleur89 , hopefully you are being scanned as I type x
