Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

@mommabear64 fingers crossed for you and for a Father’s Day surprise!!

@MK85 I really hope the appointment goes well for you! Let us know what they say. Maybe they’ll do another prog test to see if you’ve ovulated?
Little sticky bean is still there!
I think sometimes your body can try to ovulate but not manage to, then tries again and succeeds. I think this is why the Drs all say have sex throughout the whole month not just around ovulation (as tedious as that is 🙃). I didn’t really peak last time- usually I get over 1 and got 0.8 or something and I was testing at least twice a day.

Hi @Rusticanella, I’m ok thank you, feel really tired some days, I’m 4w5d today. I found the ovulation tests really helpful but a guideline not a rule! I think my ovulation is about 2 days after a peak, other people might be same day or 1 day after.

mommabear64 · 13/06/2023 11:56

Oh gosh. Feel really nauseous today. But not ill. Just feeling sick. Really trying to hold off testing til friday morning though

MK85 · 13/06/2023 15:15

@mommabear64 it's so hard to resist 😆
Well I don't think I'm going to have to worry about testing this month.
I thought after I started to surge a little yesterday that I was for sure going to ovulate but its another fail. I started feeling a little wet last night and had cramps and really hoped I'd finally get a positive opk today but tested my lh this and yet again its slumped back down to 0.17 😞 can't understand what's going on in my body that it keeps failing over and over this month

mommabear64 · 14/06/2023 09:51

So i was supposed to ovulate last tuesday but i got ewcm on friday so i think my app was out. However its now the following wednesday and still getting ewcm. Is this a good sign? I've been reading about discharge and that it should be drying up after ovulation if not pregnant. Mine very definitely not drying up.

deliwoman1 · 15/06/2023 08:51

Hi ladies, I hope it's okay to join. I turned 40 back in Feb, and next month will begin ttc no.2. DD will be 12 months in a fortnight!

It took a year of losses before DD stuck. Two miscarriages and one ectopic. Up to now I've conceived easily but have trouble holding on. A doc told me I might have an 'unfussy womb' which implants non-viable pregnancies when it shouldn't, and it's likely age-related too.

I'm pretty nervous about ttc again. So many 'what-ifs.' After all the trouble, I had a textbook pregnancy with DD but I feel like I won't get that lucky again, if indeed I am able to conceive a second time. Sometimes I wish I had a crystal ball!

Endomummy · 15/06/2023 17:19

@cornflakes86 hey how did you get on at your appt? Hope it went well and you are feeling more positive.

im entering the fertile window in a couple of days. Stocked up on cough syrup as last month it defo made a difference.

cornflakes86 · 15/06/2023 17:31

@Endomummy appointment went ok thanks. The dr has recommended I have ovulation induction with gonal f injections and a trigger shot next cycle so we are going to try that. I don’t think it has a high success rate but I do feel it’s worth a try and they are going to do scans to monitor my lining during it. Which is something I was a bit concerned about with my light periods . Next thing will be ivf if it doesn’t work!

Endomummy · 15/06/2023 19:59

@cornflakes86 oh that’s brilliant! Good to have a plan. Was this nhs or private if you don’t mind me asking. I was told at my nhs appt I couldn’t have ovulation induction because I already ovulate and that I could only do ivf (but privately as already have a child).

I have a private appt in a months time but I’m not holding out much hope.

cornflakes86 · 15/06/2023 20:36

@Endomummy i am going privately .I am pretty sure I do ovulate regularly. But the consultant said it’s worth a try before ivf . I already have a child too and ivf is just so expensive ! That’s good that you have a private appointment coming up, hopefully you will have a plan going forward as well.

Endomummy · 15/06/2023 21:04

@cornflakes86 oh wow maybe I should try that first then. My appt is for a scan and the consultant does ivf which I’m not quite ready for. I will have to do some more research, feels like such a gamble as you have to pay for the consultation before knowing what their protocol is and if they are just going to say ivf then it’s a waste of time for me.

MK85 · 16/06/2023 00:18

Hi ladies. Is everyone enjoying the weather?
We had our appointment with fertility clinic today. All went well and we've been approved for one round of ivf.
I literally just made the bmi limit , I was under it by 1lb.
They said the list for ivf is around 3 or 4 months but they are flexible and if we want to postpone to finish with clomid they are happy to wait for us to be ready.
Do any of you have experience with egg collection?
He said my amh is high ( I believe he said 64) and said that means I'm a high risk for over stimulating.
The plan is that they will do the egg collection and freeze my eggs and allow my body a couple of months to recover before transferring.
Just wondering is that normal process? I didn't think one round would take months to complete.

Butterfly2000 · 16/06/2023 00:54

That sounds like a positive appt! @MK85 I didn't realise there was a bmi limit. I better up the ante with getting healthier and weight loss! My pcos makes it harder I think though.
How are you and your other half feeling about it all?

MK85 · 16/06/2023 01:38

@Butterfly2000 I'm kinda nervous to be honest. Going under full anesthesia really makes me anxious . I know this sounds absolutely bizarre but I've always been petrified that I'll be one of those people who are put under but aren't really knocked out, just paralysed and feel everything thats going on. I know that's mental to think like that.

I wanted to mention, had alot of pain this morning and just before i left i took a easyathome opk and it had risen again to 0.53, then I did a clearblue and it had a static smiley.
I mentioned this to the Dr and he scanned me and said he could see something but wasn't sure it was a follicle or not as it was an abnormal shape so he actually thinks it might have popped or else it's a corpus luteum.
Has anyone else had a positive clearblue after the egg has popped? I usually stop using them after I get the positive.
Kicking myself if that's the case as we last dtd on Monday. OH was pestering me last night to do it aswell ( strangely the only time he mentions dtd is when I'm ovulating ) he must be bloody psychic.
I couldn't be arsed tho as we got to bed late and I knew id be knackered getting up early to travel to the appointment.
I feel like we keep missing ovulation every month. Why is it so bloody hard to time 😩

cornflakes86 · 16/06/2023 06:48

@MK85 delighted for you. That is great news ! Maybe we will be ivf buddies…fingers crossed we get bfps before that happens though! Tbh I’ve always stopped with opks as soon as I get a peak so I don’t know sorry .

How are you and your other half feeling about it all?

I have PCOS and I've found that intermittent fasting works wonders for me when I need to lose weight. I think it has to do with insulin resistance. Definitely worth a try!

MK85 · 16/06/2023 08:23

@MrsLully Intermittent fasting definitely works for me too . I've lost 16lbs now since February, although Ive only stuck to the diet February and June 😆 for around two weeks at a time but I'd still lost a considerable amount during those few weeks. If I had stuck at it for months I'd probably be in top shape by now

cornflakes86 · 16/06/2023 08:57

@deliwoman1 welcome and I know what you mean about the crystal ball. It’s the not knowing part that is really difficult I think.

Well done you! I lost around 12kg last year and I've managed to keep them off with the occasional 16h fast here and there and no snacking. I hate not snacking, snacks are life 🤣

MK85 · 16/06/2023 13:00

@cornflakes86 ah wouldn't that be great . have you decided that ivf is next chapter for you then? Sorry if you've already mentioned it. There's been alot of posts lately and I haven't got properly catching up on them all

cornflakes86 · 16/06/2023 13:07

@MK85 its ovulation induction for me next for a couple of cycles with injections hopefully starting at the end of July then will go for the ivf if that doesn’t work. That’s if I don’t get pregnant naturally in the meantime which I just can’t see happening at all at this stage !

MK85 · 16/06/2023 13:16

So.. i had to pee around 2am and decided to take a test . The curiosity of weather my lh would increase or fall was killing me. Premom was then positive and It had actually risen to 0.83, so lh had definitely increased during the day, after my appointment. I'm kinda really confused now as if the egg has already popped how come it would be secreting higher amounts of lh afterwards ? I thought it was the surge of lh that made it pop. So I'm getting a positive after the eggs already released? No wonder were not getting pregnant using opks 😆
It's dropped this morning again down til 0.70 but clearblue is still positive.
I'm clueless now when I actually ovulated. Temp hasn't risen yet either, although my temperature is being a little temperamental this month anyway, weather thats hormones or heat.
No cm this month at all . Its probably too late but I may gulp down the cough medicine and grapefruit juice today anyway and just hope for the best

MK85 · 16/06/2023 13:22

@cornflakes86 I wish they would offer me timed OI with injection so that at least we could prepare for and control when the egg is released. Its a minefield with my unpredictable cycles. You just have to pluck a test everyday and hope today's the day. I'm currently CD31 and completely fed up peeing on sticks for this long.

mommabear64 · 16/06/2023 16:19

AF today. So thats me out this month.

mommabear64 · 16/06/2023 17:33

Or maybe not argh. It seems to have been mild spotting. It does your head in all the guessing! Will just have to wait and see if it progresses.

cornflakes86 · 17/06/2023 07:26

@MK85 that must be very frustrating. How many cycles will you be taking the clomid for in total ?
