Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

Hello everyone! So happy to have you all here - hopefully this can be a safe space to vent and moan as we deal with all the frustrations of TTC ❤️

Any recommendations on which brand of OPKs to use? I've been using the clearblue digital ones but they keep breaking and are so bloody expensive I'm not sure I can justify the ongoing cost 😕

I’ve been using both CB digital and Easy at Home cheapo strips. I find that the CB digital will give me a static smiley before my positive Easy at Home. It’ll go static when my cheapo strip is at a reading of about 0.5. So I might stop the CB digitals as they prompt a chain of a events that we can’t keep up with by the time we get a positive on the strips 😂

Hi all. 37 ttc #1
Pcos and one chemical in dec.
Currently 14dpo but negative test this month 👎😭

Stillwinston · 10/04/2023 20:22

@ttcat37 that's really helpful, think I'll give them a try this month - tbh, the clearblue ones have given me so many false peaks that I just don't trust them anymore. Plus they're so expensive I might as well have remortgaged my house with the amount I've spent over the past 2 years 😂

@MK85 welcome 🖐️ sorry to hear about your chemical in December ❤️ will keep my fingers crossed for you - you're not out until AF shows!

I know! They’re so expensive and it seems like such a waste that you can’t just buy refills, you have to buy a whole new stick!
I find the cheap strips a better measure as you can see with your eyes that they’re getting stronger.

Secondtimettc · 10/04/2023 21:43

Can I join please? Ttc number 2. Not technically geriatric until next month! But DS took 10 months so fear we could be in for a long haul. 90% sure I'm out this cycle (no. 4)😞

Stillwinston · 10/04/2023 21:50

Hi @Secondtimettc, welcome 😊 what cycle day are you on?

OP posts:
Secondtimettc · 10/04/2023 22:11

Thanks @Stillwinston I am around 11dpo if clearblue digital to be believed but I have a migraine which is usually a sign AF is on the way. I don't remember any symptoms with DS!

ttcat37 · 11/04/2023 10:33

Hi ladies. How are we all today? I’m 12dpo and faced facts that AF is en route.
However! I’ve bit the bullet and paid £220 for an appointment with a consultant gynaecologist who specialises in infertility. It must have been a cancellation as it’s on Thursday! (I really hope someone became pregnant and had to cancel their appointment 🥰)
So excited to get things started. I could have waited for my GP to start appointments again but our surgery is seriously feeling the strain at the moment so it’s hard to get to speak to anybody.
I don’t really know what to expect - has anyone does this before where they’ve spoken to someone privately and then been referred back to the nhs for treatment? What should I hope for on Thursday? Should I be asking for anything?

Redpanda21 · 11/04/2023 11:11

I’m only 4dpo today and had a huge drop in my temp today.

When I temped before I never had a big drop like this… 🤔

Hello fellow geriatrics waves I’m 37 DH is 38 and we’re ttc #1. AF turned up today bang on time, along with her usual ‘luggage’ of cramps and tears (I cried yesterday over married at first sight Australia 🤦🏻‍♀️).

I’ve been tracking bbt, using cb digital opk, taking conceive plus vitamins, using the fertilily cup (possibly incorrectly - so fiddly) and trying not stress, which is easier said than done as I am not patient and hate not being in control!

cornflakes86 · 11/04/2023 15:15

Hi I hope it’s ok if I join. Been trying for about a year and a half now for no.2. Conceived no. 1 who is nearly 3 easily. Had a mmc a few months ago at 11 weeks . I conceived that one same cycle as a HSG test which came back normal. No joy since. I am 36 I have had some basic fertility tests privately and my partner too and they haven’t found anything wrong . Wondering how much more time to keep trying naturally. Fertility treatment is so expensive but worrying time is not on my side . So sick of OPKs etc and AF arriving every month at this stage .

StevieNick · 11/04/2023 15:26

Hi all, first time poster, im 39 and been ttc number 1 since April 2020. Had 1 MMC and 1 CP in 3 years. due to start a ivf cycle imminently and just found out I’m pregnant (5 weeks according to online calculator) 🤯🤩So surprised and very apprehensive given my previous miscarriages. Over the last 5 months I’ve reduced night shifts working, had fertility focussed acupuncture, exercised more (high intensity) and lost a bit of weight. I really hope this one works out 🤞

Stillwinston · 11/04/2023 16:19

@ttcat37 I'm cd2 today, itching to get started again! Very interested to hear about your appointment as think I need to get the ball rolling and get some tests arranged - are they doing the tests on Thursday or is it just an initial consultation? Will keep my fingers crossed that AF doesn't arrive though 🤞

@Redpanda21 hopefully it's just a blip, you're still super early ❤️

OP posts:
Stillwinston · 11/04/2023 16:21

@AuntFlosmiserableniece hello! Love your username btw!

I'm cd2 so it looks like we're on a similar cycle 😊 which vitamins have you been taking?

OP posts:
Stillwinston · 11/04/2023 16:24

@cornflakes86 welcome 🖐️ sorry to hear about your mmc, I'm in a similar position and am trying to decide how long we keep trying for before possibly going down the IVF route - I just don't think we could afford it though 😕 and completely understand what you mean about getting sick of tracking, OPKs etc - this baby malarkey is bloody soul destroying at times xxx

OP posts:
Stillwinston · 11/04/2023 16:25

@StevieNick congratulations 🎉 that's such wonderful news 😊 how are you feeling? X

Kablea · 11/04/2023 16:35

Hi! Can I join too please? Also on CD2.

AuntFlosmiserableniece · 11/04/2023 16:46

@Stillwinston I've been taking Conceive Plus conception support and ovulation support since February as well as omega 3 and probiotics. I was taking starflower oil for the first half of my cycle, but I think it shortened my luteal phase so I’ve stopped now.

I’m also really looking forward to getting started on a new cycle. I’m determined not to behave like a crazy woman test early this month and to really focus on eating as healthily as possible and drinking more water.

Stillwinston · 11/04/2023 17:05

@Kablea welcome 😁 looks like a few of us will be in the TWW at the same time which is great 👍

Are you trying for dc1? X

OP posts:
Stillwinston · 11/04/2023 17:06

@AuntFlosmiserableniece lol, I say that every cycle and as soon as I reach 6dpo I become a crazed tester 😂

I’ve had my day 3 and day 21 tests through the GP, my DH has had his SA done too, and I’ve had an AMH test privately. So I’m hoping Thursday will give me an idea of the next steps, maybe a referral, omg maybe some magic medicine 🤩 😂😂 I don’t really know what to expect to be honest! I guess an ultrasound scan would be next?

Jellyfish1956 · 11/04/2023 17:17

Hi @ttcat37, I hope all goes well at the appointment on Thursday! Depending on what's covered in the appointment cost, they may to an internal scan to look at your antral follicle count and make sure it's in line with your AMH. The private clinics can't refer into the NHS - that can only be done through a GP, but if they give you a magic medicine please pass on the name 😅
It you have a copy of all your blood test results then take them with you 😊

AuntFlosmiserableniece · 11/04/2023 17:35

@Stillwinston lol, I’m sure I’ll be here symptom spotting and squinting at test strips 6dpo 😂
