Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

Oh I'm sorry there are so many of us struggling with it. It's hard to know if it's something else or what seems to be the obvious thing going on, which is certainly discouraging and sad.

I believe they do look for specific things to diagnose peri menopause, so they have to be looking for it if that makes sense. I did have chemo and radio when I was a kid and I've always wondered if those treatments could shorten my fertile lifespan. Are any of you in the same boat?

mommabear64 · 10/06/2023 10:48

So my last period was just spotting and no blood. So i thought i had already ovulated this month now coz its all mixed up. However this morning i was getting sllll the signs of ovulation so we dtd. Looks like i'm back to starting again eith the tww. But lets see. Clear ovulation signs gives me hope i'm not quite in meno.

Endomummy · 10/06/2023 11:43

i did worry about peri before but had blood tests and I think they look at the ratio of fsh to lh as this changes when approaching meno. Have any of you had the day 3 and day 21 blood tests?

I also had my amh checked and it was 26 which I was told is really good for my age. Not that anything seems to be working, which is why I’m suspecting egg quality could be the problem. Or endo causing a hostile environment as the consultant mentioned chronic inflammation… this is why I’m going to try baby aspirin.

cornflakes86 · 10/06/2023 13:29

@Endomummy i haven’t had those tests . I’ve had amh and I was told it was good for my age. I suspect poor egg quality in my case too but who knows. I’m constantly self diagnosing myself with different things!

Endomummy · 10/06/2023 13:36

@cornflakes86 oh I totally get that, it’s rough when there are no answers! How long have you been trying?x

Butterfly2000 · 10/06/2023 14:41

Peri worries here too. My last 2 periods have been 5+ days early and much lighter. I have PCOS so don't know if it's that. Fsh and lh bloods were normal but 21day progesterone was low last month. Feeling pretty crappy at the mo. I'm 38 so really hope it's just the PCOS and nothing else. Can't imagine not having a child

MK85 · 10/06/2023 16:21

@Butterfly2000 I also have pcos , and while it could totally be related to that, it seems kinda odd to me that it's a new thing. My cycles have never been this short and light in my lifespan and I've struggled with pcos since my teens. It's just started the past few months. I don't know how quickly peri can creep up but I had my fsh/Lh tested one year ago and it was fine then

MrsLully · 10/06/2023 16:25

@MK85 @Butterfly2000 I have PCOS as well. Funnily enough, it was pretty bad before I had my first (which I was told I would probably never conceive naturally and ended up being a complete surprise), got much better after her and then fantastic after my second, whom I conceived on our first cycle of trying when I was 32.
My period got super regular and almost pain free for a good two years, and all of a sudden they've started to get crappy and unpredictable again.

It's strange but I'm keeping everything tightly crossed that I'm back to normal month! I had my lh and fsh done in April and they were fine. My periods were erratic before I went on the pill but ways pretty heavy. Hmm we'll see what the next few weeks/tests bring

@MrsLully Did yours ever get lighter or more frequent? It's nice not being crippled by the cramps but the change is still worrying

cornflakes86 · 11/06/2023 06:54

@Endomummy been trying over a year and a half had a missed miscarriage at the end of last year no luck since

mommabear64 · 11/06/2023 07:37

Are bad nightmares and weird dreams an early pregnancy symptom? Lawd i keep getting these horrible dreams that wake me up. Like they're normal dreams but then peoples faces suddenly turn into monster faces for no reason! Horrid. Never had this before.

MrsLully · 11/06/2023 13:50

@Butterfly2000 they got shorter and less heavy, specially after the section with my second. Super regular though, every 28 days. Textbook periods like I'd never experienced before.
Lately they are all over the place like I said. Some months I don't bleed at all, other I bleed around ovulation, sometimes I'll be crappy randomly and nothing will happen. Definitely need to get an appt and see what's going on. Right now I'm 4 days late for AF, my boobs are sore, I'm nauseous but BFNs so definitely not pregnant

MrsLully · 11/06/2023 13:51

@mommabear64 they were for me! Had really vivid dreams with my two kids, particularly during the first trimester

ttcat37 · 11/06/2023 15:30

Hi ladies. Just wanted to pop my head in and see how everyone is getting on. What dpo is everyone at? Anyone symptom spotting yet?

I don't know coz i only had spotting and no period last month 🙄 thought i was 5dpo now but i had all the signs friday of ovulation so don't know now. Doing my head in. We go to cornwall next Saturday so testing friday. Still a slim chance of a fathers day surprise for the hubby.

mommabear64 · 11/06/2023 16:11

Constantly symptom spotting plus anxious due to last months missed period and worrying its meno which hasn't helped. Current symptoms are left ovary twinge, tiredness and lower back ache out the blue yesterday like i've never had before.

Un7breakable · 11/06/2023 16:32

No idea how many days dpo I am. FF has changed from CD17 to CD19 to CD14 🤷 I think it was between CD15 and 17. So I'm somewhere between 7 and 12 dpo. I'm guessing 7 or 8 as I usually get a lot of spotting between 8 and 12 dpo and none yet.

MK85 · 11/06/2023 17:07

@mommabear64 not sure, I pretty much dream of monsters or someone chasing me every night 😆

MK85 · 11/06/2023 17:19

@Butterfly2000 my periods were always eraric but nothing to the extent of the last few years. I had a complete cease in periods a few years ago ( for around 2 years) and gp offered no help during that time. I was left for 3 years before getting a referral to see a gynae . When they did return I was only having 1 or 2 periods a year. Since December I've had alot more regular periods and have ovulated a few times but I still feel utterly shit about it as its now June and I've only had 3 cycles so far this year. If I was having a period every month I'd feel alot less stressed out as every month, however low is still a chance. I've had 3 chances in 7 months. I can't understand why clomid worked for me last month and now this month its not working. I've felt really off now for weeks and part of me is wondering if it's my hormones and my cycles are going to completely stop again.

MK85 · 11/06/2023 17:24

@ttcat37 cd26 and still nowhere near ovulation. I have an appointment with fertility clinic on Thursday so I'll have a chat with them but I think next weekend I'm just going to cancel this cycle and take a provera to induce a bleed. I can't be fucking arsed waiting until day 30+ 40+ or god knows when to ovulate.
I felt fine all month, hadn't thought too much about ttc but now that I'm this far Into my cycle and nothings happened the anxiety is all building up again.

How are you doing? Hope alls going well with your little sticky bean

Endomummy · 11/06/2023 18:41

@cornflakes86 sorry to hear that :( how awful. It’s definitely a difficult process, tbh I am sick of it all. I’m CD5 now and I always feel better mentally in the first part of my cycle. After ovulation it all goes to shit!

cornflakes86 · 11/06/2023 20:39

@Endomummy yes so sick of it too. I didn’t even dtd much this cycle as so fed up . Think I ovulated a few days ago . I have an appointment with a fertility specialist on Wednesday. It’s hard to stay hopeful

Rusticanella · 11/06/2023 20:50

Hi @ttcat37 hope you are getting on well? How many weeks are you now?

I am just starting cycle 4. No luck last month after dtd several time around ovulation time. But wasn't actively tracking ovulation. Have some ovulation tests for this month.

Toucs · 12/06/2023 17:31

Do you mind if I ask what age peri-menopause symptoms started for everyone?

I'm at CD10 so hoping I will ovulate this week. I'm using ovulation tests for the first time this month but not much showing up yet.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you all!

MK85 · 12/06/2023 17:55

I'm going to ask for a full hormone blood test as my last test was dated June last year.

Does anyone ever feel like they are trying to surge but just not ?
Its the third time this month I've had a reading above .50 ( thats always a sign I'm going to ovulate in the next day or two) but then it slumps back down again. I had a 0.50+ reading three times in the last week. The first time I did have the usual ovulation type pain.
I know levels fluctuate throughout the month but I've been using the tests for about 8 months now and ive never seen mine rise above a 50 unless ov is coming . Its like my body continues to try and surge again but fails. Anyone felt like that before ?
