Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

Thanks @Toucs - I feel like I’m used to it now! 5 mins of sadness and then I’m alright…

As far as the line goes, if you’re 3 days late I would expect a much, much darker line and as it took so long for the line to come up it’s unlikely to be a true positive but you never know…

Endomummy · 02/06/2023 11:58

Hey ladies please can I join? I’m 35 and feeling past it, mainly because I also have numerous gynae issues (endometriosis, adenomyosis, thickened lining…and had polypectomy 18 months ago). Feeling really rubbish right now as it’s been over 2 years… if I don’t count the time before surgery it was 11 cycles to get a BFP but that ended as a chemical just before Christmas. Now it’s been 6 months and nothing. All I see are people conceiving right after chemicals and it’s not happened for me. I’m 9DPO and BFN, shouldn’t have tested 🤡 but I want to know if I have another chemical. Sorry don’t want to be a Debbie downer but I feel like this whole situation is consuming my life and every day I’m aware of which cycle day it is… maybe I need to be more patient but it’s very frustrating and I just feel like my eggs must be damaged from the endo etc, definitely feeling geriatric as been dealing with this for far too long 🤣🤣🤣

Toucs · 02/06/2023 12:00

@Downtherabbithole83 I think you are probably right! I'm never this late so am driving myself mad!

MK85 · 02/06/2023 14:10

@Toucs I agree , at 3 days late I would be expecting a much darker line , but then again you could have implanted late ( ive read its possible to test positive as late as 18dpo) or could you have misjudged your true ovulation date ?

Stillwinston · 02/06/2023 14:38

@Endomummy welcome! Sorry to hear you've had such a rough time of it but you're in good company here 🙂 I'm also past the 2 year TTC mark now so I totally understand what you mean about it being all consuming - it's so bloody disheartening at times 👎🏻 however, will keep my fingers crossed for you for this cycle ❤️ x

Stillwinston · 02/06/2023 14:40

@Toucs could you get a more sensitive test - maybe you implanted quite late? I agree though with the others that I would expect a much darker line if you're 3 days late but there's still a chance until AF shows 🤞🏻

@Endomummy Welcome! xx Your eggs won't have been damaged from the endometriosis, but I see what you mean. After so long and so many obstacles getting in the way, it's bloody hard work. As others have said, you're in supportive hands here. If you need to vent, we will listen xx

Toucs · 02/06/2023 16:55

@MK85 and @Stillwinston I'm thinking it could be due to late implantation as I've been taking Pregnacare and wonder if it delayed my cycle....arghhhh

Going to test again in a day or two!

Endomummy · 02/06/2023 17:41

@Stillwinston @SarahShorty thank you for the warm welcome! I do hope you are right @SarahShorty strangely I conceived DD before endo surgery and when I was really unhealthy, drinking and smoking (she was a total surprise and we weren’t ttc). I am very grateful to have her but she’s 6 now and asking for a sibling all the time. I feel guilty but all I can do is keep trying.

last month I started proceive and doubled my ubiquinol dose. Also tried cough syrup and it defo worked with the ewcm… next month I am going to add low dose aspirin as I’ve read it can help with chronic inflammation caused by endo.

I know I shouldn’t count myself out at 9DPO and I’m probably hormonal but I did have a cry earlier. I’m sick of the stress!!

@Stillwinston sorry to hear you’ve been trying for so long too. It is very draining but we must be strong AF to be dealing with this for so long and keeping on going!

ttcat37 · 02/06/2023 18:42

Hi all, hope you’re ok. Thanks @MK85 🙂

Welcome to all the new ladies this month 💐

Still getting BFPs here and the strips seem to be getting stronger. Only symptoms are having nightmares most nights 😑 and so being tired. That might also be going cold turkey off caffeine though. No sickness yet. Really hoping this is my sticky one!

40andtrying1 · 02/06/2023 18:50

Ladies I am 6dpo just did an ovulation test.
there is a faint line- I know this is negative.
but isn’t it meant to be stark white now?

Un7breakable · 02/06/2023 19:04

@40andtrying1 you'll have some LH in your urine most of the time. Sorry.

MK85 · 02/06/2023 19:39

@40andtrying1 LH in always present in the urine throughout the month but it's just more diluted. During ovulation it's alot more concentrated

Kablea · 02/06/2023 19:45

Hi! I’m back again, hid the chat for a bit as sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming! We bit the bullet and got private testing done (we’d had some 5yrs ago on the NHS, and was fine but thought we would see how we stand now). Get the results and consultation this month! We only had sex twice this month so not holding out much hope, period due Monday but have no symptoms at all.

40andtrying1 · 02/06/2023 20:16

thank you 🙂

Butterfly2000 · 02/06/2023 21:58

Ugh I'm trying so hard not to symptom spot. I've had a lot of twitches, pulling, cramps and back ache over the last 48hrs and vivid dreams. Pretty early for AF symptoms for me. Any suggestions on relaxation tonight minus hitting the bottle?! 🙈

40andtrying1 · 02/06/2023 22:20

The time is dragging isn’t it. I don’t feel pregnant, though I have been feeling low and in a terrible mood for days.
how many dpo are you now? Xx

FirstTim3Mummy · 02/06/2023 22:38

I'm 39. I had my son back in 2020, he's 3 now.
I had two missed miscarriages last year, which I'm still not fully gotten over emotionally.
I really want to try one last time. I have a feeling it's just my eggs aren't any good anymore. My husband says we are "past it" now and doesn't want to go through another traumatic loss.

Any success stories on here for a 39+ year old managing to have their second child after miscarriages?

Sorry for depressing post. One would have been born November 2022 and the second would have been due now so I'm really feeling quite down and emotional.

Feel like I'm running out of time and guilty that I want a second child. X

Butterfly2000 · 02/06/2023 23:14

@40andtrying1 I was doing quite well, compared to last month when I went into overdrive. I'm 6dpo. Just went to try on some new clothes only to find almost none of them fit which hasn't made me feel any better. I feel so bloated and larger lately too. Might just have a little cathartic cry and a swear. Tomorrow's another day

@FirstTim3Mummy Don't feel guilty for wanting another child. Is it an absolute no from your hubby? I can understand that he's afraid of another loss as you may well be too. Maybe have another chat about it

Stillwinston · 05/06/2023 07:26

@FirstTim3Mummy only just seen your message, so sorry! You should absolutely not feel guilty for wanting a 2nd child; my son is the exact same age as yours and given that lockdown was such a shit time to have a kid I think it only natural to want to experience it again but in a normal world. Plus, at 3 they're really desperate for play-mates and so it makes that wearing even more intense. You still have plenty of time, there's quite a few ladies on here that are 40+ and have had successful pregnancies. Sending you lots of positive vibes ❤️

I'd been having lots of hopeful twinges for a couple of days but now 9dpo and it looks like AF is making an appearance today :(
How are you getting in?

Rusticanella · 05/06/2023 12:16

Hi all,

Officially on to cycle 4. Although, probably shouldn't count first cycle as stopping contraception was all a bit post ovulation etc.

Going to try and track ovulation this month,

Hope everyone else is okay.

40andtrying1 · 05/06/2023 14:00

Hi! I am 9dpo don’t feel a thing, no twinges or cramps. Only bubbles in my tummy (stomach not uterus) since 2dpo - I am 9dpo now. Probably not related to pregnancy at all!
Oh my cervix is very low and hard, impending period I presume.

how are you? Any symptoms?
