Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

@Rusticanella i think we all feel that disappointment every time we see a negative test but keep in mind that the absolute earliest you’re likely to see a positive is 5 days or so before AF and even then they’re likely to be weak if they show up at all! There’s still hope…

Thanks- appreciated.

Funnily enough I was trying to find that information and google kept contradicting its self.

Even the packaging was referring to HGC levels rather than days....so good to know!

Stillwinston · 01/06/2023 08:59

I'm officially back on the TTC train yet again - AF arrived in full force this morning 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm surprisingly not feeling as sad as I did last month so that's a positive. Hubby and I have an expensive couple of months coming up so we had a chat and agreed to go for tests in August and just relax things for June & July and see what happens.

@Downtherabbithole83 will keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻 how are you feeling? Any promising symptoms? X

Stillwinston · 01/06/2023 09:05

@Rusticanella both my pregnancies didn't show up on a test until I was 13dpo. One was successful and the line progressed as expected and the other ended in mc and the line never really darkened. As hard as it is (and I'm aware that I'm being completely contradictory as I'm a POAS addict now 😂) I would try and hold off testing until at least 12dpo to try and avoid the disappointment/anxiety that early testing brings x

@Stillwinston relaxing sounds like a good plan. I’ll continue to send lucky thoughts your way for those cycles, just in case 😉

No symptoms at all here. Feeling a bit irritated to be honest. Concerned that it’s not happening this time either because of my age or because of stress from work - neither of which I can do anything about at the moment. I’m doing a lot of therapeutic swearing 😂🤬

MK85 · 01/06/2023 13:03

@ttcat37 congrats! I reckon that's a positive. Ah see , the magic following a hsg

MK85 · 01/06/2023 13:11

@JumpinJellyfish i definitely feel alot more stressed in recent months since i started monitoring for ovulation but id be completely lost without opks or tempting as I don't really get much ecwm, some months not at all.

MK85 · 01/06/2023 13:22

Alot of posts in recent days. I've alot of catch up on.
I'm currently cd16. Have a feeling clomid isn't working for me this month as I don't even feel close to ovulating yet, or if I'll even ovulate this month at all. If I do , I think its going to be another very late ovulation. I don't have a twinge of pain, any increase in cm , nothing, and my temps are extremely erratic. I don't know what's going on but i feel like something is very off with me and has been since just before my period. I'm still suffering with light headedness every morning and wondering if my hormones have gone wonky again 😫

MK85 · 01/06/2023 13:22

@suz2285 that's great news. Hopefully you can start to relax a bit more. I know it's easier said than done.

cornflakes86 · 01/06/2023 13:30

@Stillwinston sorry to hear that. Onwards and upwards for the next cycle. Honestly I don’t trust those blue line clearblue tests at all now they seem to be just dreadful for evaps

PollyDarton1 · 01/06/2023 14:16

Hi all, hoping I can join! I'm 38 (and a half) and looking to TTC with #2 - I have a 7 year old DS (not my partners son) so would be a large age gap and my DP's first.

I've got a history of PCOS with erratic periods, although I've not long got my results back from a Hertility test that suggests the PCOS is very marginal (all my results bar a slight elevation in AMH came back within range). I've barely had any periods this year but had very normal one last cycle with clear ovulation/PMS symptoms and have been tracking PMS symptoms etc for about a year beforehand with Clu. Am now using Natural Cycle and Premom with OPK and BBT to see if there is any clues, although I suspect I have a long cycle (32 days). Am currently on CD18, with projected ovulation tomorrow - I've had a few tell tale cramps. I always get PMS symptoms before I'm 'due' but this year until the last cycle I was only having very very light periods.

This would be the first cycle we are properly trying although we DTD unprotected last cycle (no BFP). I'm guessing if we don't conceive by Christmas I'll make an appointment with the GP but as this would be #2 IVF (on the NHS) isn't an option.

Wishing you all the best and look forward to chatting with you!

Un7breakable · 01/06/2023 14:36

I'm back in the TWW. Had lots of EWCM which I don't usually get, as I've been taking cough syrup. Feeling really neutral about things this month after being really teary at the start of the cycle.

MK85 · 01/06/2023 15:40

@Un7breakable I've seen alot of women posting about cough syrup. Do you think it's helped with ecwm?

Un7breakable · 01/06/2023 18:04

@MK85 100%. I actually started taking it for a cough but am now going to do it before ovulation. Usually I get no EWCM and this month there was loads.

MK85 · 01/06/2023 18:17

@Un7breakable oh really ? That's interesting.
I'm not usually one for taking cough syrups, even when I'm sick but I think I'll give anything a shot at this point. I think the clomid has definitely dried my cm up.
What one did you take ?
I think I recall a thread about this before and they said it needed to contain the ingredient guaifenesin to work

Un7breakable · 01/06/2023 18:39

That's the ingredient. I took the boots own that contains it.

Downtherabbithole83 · 01/06/2023 21:22

Urgh… AF has arrived a day early.

CD1, here we go again!

40andtrying1 · 01/06/2023 21:43

Does anyone have tummy issues post ovulation?mine started 2dpo - I’m now 6dpo
woke up in the night feeling awful tummy making loud noises, then this morning upset tummy.
I’ve been Feeling nauseous since 2dpo, and every time I eat something my stomach goes mad, gurgling, bubbling.
I mentioned this may be a pregnancy symptom to my husband and he said “here we go again” 😒
I think he’s fed up with me talking about it.
anyone had this symptom with previous pregnancies?

MK85 · 01/06/2023 22:24

@40andtrying1 I had a positive test in dec and had zero symptoms other than a lot of tummy trouble and pain. I just remember feeling alot of pain that I thought was coming from my bowels as it felt deeper than period pain. Mine started around 6dpo, but didn't test positive til 14dpo. I've never had that before other than my bfp month

MK85 · 01/06/2023 22:26

@Downtherabbithole83 Ah 🙉 sorry.
Mother nature is a little bitch

Downtherabbithole83 · 01/06/2023 22:29

@MK85 - couldn’t have said it better myself!

40andtrying1 · 01/06/2023 22:40

Oh maybe there is hope! Thank you
Isnt the usual cm meant to change by now…6dpo. Still dry, sticky sorry! TMI.
like it always is posts ovulation.

40andtrying1 · 01/06/2023 22:42

aww hope it happens for you very soon. 💕

Downtherabbithole83 · 01/06/2023 23:09

@40andtrying1 my understanding is that no pregnancy symptoms are likely (or even really possible) before around 6dpo because of how long it takes the egg to travel and then implant. Until it implants the body doesn’t know that anything different is happening that month so it won’t respond differently (if that makes sense… as you can tell, I’m no scientist! 🤦‍♀️)

I think the problem is that our bodies are so weird and affected by so many different things at different points of our cycles - the particularly cruel part is that pre-AF symptoms are almost exactly the same as pregnancy. Many of us on here have been caught out by those ‘symptoms’.

Stillwinston · 02/06/2023 01:19

@Downtherabbithole83 oh no 😩 sorry to hear AF arrived. Hope you're doing ok ❤️

Think I might get @MK85 statement printed on a t-shirt as it's perfect 😂

Welcome @PollyDarton1!

@Downtherabbithole83 sorry to hear about AF 😔

I'm still waiting for my AF (3 days late now) and had what is possibly the faintest line ever this morning- what do you all think?? It also took nearly 10 mins to show up with me staring at it the whole time 😆
