Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

Hello everyone!
Would you mind if I join you? I'm on another thread but it's pretty dead and I need some company! I'll be 35 this year and had an oopsy around ovulation this month. I'm 3 days away from my period. So far I've tested negative, so pretty sure im out, but I'd appreciate your company and experiences for these las 5 days or so wondering!

Welcome @PollyDarton1!

@Downtherabbithole83 sorry to hear about AF 😔

I'm still waiting for my AF (3 days late now) and had what is possibly the faintest line ever this morning- what do you all think?? It also took nearly 10 mins to show up with me staring at it the whole time 😆

How exciting! I can definitely see a line. You might have ovulated late? Did you test again over the weekend? Trying to get all the second hand joy here 🤣

Stillwinston · 05/06/2023 16:10

@MrsLully welcome! Many a baby has come from an oopsie so here's keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻😀

@Butterfly2000 oh no, sorry to hear that 😩 will keep optimistic for you until AF shows though 🤞🏻 I'm doing ok thanks, AF finished yesterday so going to try and keep it relaxed this cycle and not go down the OPK route - I'm already itching to test though 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

@MrsLully welcome! Did you do another test or just waiting to see what happens?

No joy from me unfortunately, AF eventually turned up 5 days late (which never happens) so no idea what was going on. Think I will try to track ovulation this month!

Jaystarlight · 06/06/2023 10:08

I keep checking on this thread and keeping everything crossed for you all. I am 5 weeks tomorrow but trying to keep on top of my anxiety after many loses and not many symptoms. Doesn’t feel real.
Is anyone testing this week ?

Oh I'm so sorry! That's so frustrating, those extra 5 days of wondering.
My period has been all over the place lately, to the point where I'm thinking it might be peri menopause. I think this month is the first I ovulated in a while, so that might explain some of my symptoms.
I haven't tested again, maybe I'll try later on or if I can wait I'll do it tomorrow. That's when my AF is due, so just waiting for it now really

MK85 · 06/06/2023 13:56

Well ladies , i hope everyone has enjoyed a few great days of sunshine.
I'm feeling a bit meh 😕 currently cd21
My temp is rising past 3 days and FF has now calculated that I ovulated on Saturday, however I didn't have an lh surge, no cm, no pain. Nothing.
I did get a slight increase in opk on friday, only 0.44.. usually once I get above 40+ the following day I'll rise higher and eventually get a positive but my test the following day was lower so I just assumed it wasn't going to lead to ovulation but now I'm wondering if I've ovulated but completely missed my LH surge 😞 had a huge temp drop Saturday and had some super mild cramping on Sunday for a few moments.

I'll be devastated if that's the case and we just wasted a month of clomid as we last dtd on Wednesday and its saying i ovulated Saturday. We didn't dtd again til Sunday as he was working all Sat and didn't get home til 4am and I just felt too tired. I don't think his swimmers would have lasted to be honest. They're a little 'special'
I've been tracking LH for months and never missed a surge. Its usually visble over 2 days. Unless the heat is playing some kind of fuckery with my bbt or making my urine less concentrated

Butterfly2000 · 06/06/2023 17:18

@Stillwinston Thank you. AF has definitely arrived now. Lighter than normal and 5 days early which is a bit worrying. However I'm relaxing on the ttc front for the next few weeks. I've got a hen do and a wedding so I'm just gonna enjoy them, get sloshed, have some self care time and crack on again in July. How are you going with the testing so far? I tell you it's exciting when I need to pee so I can test again! 😂🙈 I'm gonna try and test less too. Good luck!

@Jaystarlight Keeping everything tightly crossed for you. Hope your anxiety fades and you get to enjoy pregnancy x

@MK85 You never know his swimmers might have lasted till Saturday🤞🏽How many times a day are you testing? Do you normally have a rapid surge?

MK85 · 06/06/2023 18:18

@Butterfly2000 ah wishful thinking. I really doubt it. We've been recommended ivf because of his semen results.
I usually test once a day up until I think I'm close to ovulating ( if i have any cm or if im close to 50 on premom ) Then I'll test twice a day, or often even 3. I usually see a high for 2 full days so I don't know , If I have ovulated then it must have been a random super fast surge this month

@Butterfly2000 could that be implantation bleeding? 5 days early sounds definitely suspicious. Is it still going?

Butterfly2000 · 06/06/2023 21:40

@MK85 Ah ok. I've seen a few ladies mention wonky cycles on mumsnet this last few weeks maybe the change of weather or season does have something to do with it. How many dpo are you? Still keeping my fingers crossed for you lovely

@MrsLully I did wonder when I started spotting late Sunday night but the flow has picked now and is bright red. AF was really early last month too. I'm worried something terrible is wrong now and waiting for test results. My gp thinks my pcos is messing my cycles again. I'm not sure I believe her yet (denial 😂) After 20ish years I came off the pull in Jan. And have had a 26 day cycle ever since, don't know what's suddenly gone wrong

MK85 · 06/06/2023 22:40

@Butterfly2000 temps are indicating 3dpo. In the months ive had confirmed ovulation( dec and last month) ovulation did take place around cd19 which was the weekend also. Quite the coincidental temp rise🤔 hmm.
i hope that's not the case as otherwise we'll have completely wasted a clomid cycle . I've only had 3 cycles this year so far ( pcos) so feel like the opportunity to conceive is rare to come by

whatnots2015 · 06/06/2023 23:07

Hello everyone!
I've just been catching up with messages.
I have another blood test next week followed by a chat with my GP who sounds keen to refer us on to the most appropriate people.
It's daunting and exciting at the same time so I'm just trying to look after myself, I think I need to do more of this.
Thinking of everyone x

ballanj · 07/06/2023 11:26

Hi ladies! It's taken me 4 whole days to read through this thread from start to finish but I'm so glad I've found you all.

A little about me, I'm 38 (39 in September), my DH is 46 and we are TTC no.2. I have a son (my first and only successful pregnancy) who was born in 2019. Complete textbook pregnancy. I've had 4 miscarriages (blighted ovums, mmcs and 2 losses we know were chromosomally abnormal). I've had 3 D&Cs and most recently a hysteroscopy for retained products (what a crap expression) in February of this year. We are back on the horse since April so this is cycle 3 for us. We have fallen pregnant relatively quickly each time, but on our last go before the last loss, and this one have been in the 3-4 month mark. I know that is nothing at all compared to some others on here. No reason other than the chromosomal abnormalities has been found for why we've had recurrent losses, so we are still hopeful that we just need to crack a good egg! I apparently enter my 'fertile window' this weekend and reading all the stuff on here, has really given me hope. Have told DH that we should just have sex every other day over the next two weeks (he's not complaining and thankfully both have a high drive) I used to track ovulation but that stressed me out too much and I was getting upset that it wasn't happening knowing full well I'd ovulated so not bothering with it now. It's so tough and I'm relieved I can share with some women who understand how shit it all is, unless you're going through it you really have no idea. And getting so fed up of seeing pregnant women and bumps. It's like they've been hibernating in the winter and are now emerging as the weather gets better! Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading and giving me some hope that we might get there in the end xxx

MK85 · 07/06/2023 14:40

@ballanj haha well done , its 37 pages👏 it takes alot of patience to read through this thread.
Welcome . It's truly a really supportive thread and I've found it great knowing there's lots of women around my age group still trying for a baby

niknaks37 · 08/06/2023 10:58

Hey to all the lovely ladies on here. I'm back after a small break. Took a bit of time catching up on the thread.

Currently on cycle day 2, once again last cycle ended with AF instead of the BFP I crave. I have now come full circle, it has been a year since DH and I first started TTC journey.
Last time I was on here I really thought I saw BFP on both HCG tests, turns out it was the cruel evap lines! Been using easy at home LH and HCG tests, they have been really reliable up until then. Phoning the doctors tomorrow to check all is ok fertility wise.

Question.. What is a good LH rating? My last 2 cycles LH were not that high, had to manually select my own peak! (Images attached)
The only thing I am doing different is exercising at the gym 3 times a week.
Trying to lose a stone in weight, I'm not overweight but certainly not the right weight for my height.

Hi there! How long have you been trying?
i am due on any day, hopefully it doesn't appear!

Endomummy · 08/06/2023 14:08

@niknaks37 I gave up on those tests as I have a short LH surge (it varies amongst women) and how diluted your pee is. I have been drinking a lot of water to increase ewcm and generally help with fertility so I swapped to the clear blue digital ovulation tests and they are fab. You just get a flashing smiley for high fertility and a static smiley for peak LH. Have you tried them? Might reassure you, I was getting stressed with the Premom app and trying to catch the surge, take photos in same lighting, etc etc.

how is everyone else doing? I am on CD2, dosed up on painkillers with heat pads and hot water bottles. Endo SUCKS!! I have just booked a private scan to check all ok, have an antral follicle count and rule out polyps etc. I will be using cough syrup again this cycle and probably add in aspirin but will see what the consultant recommends at the scan appt.

I thought I'd share this incase anyone finds it helpful

Morning ladies!
I have a query. Have any of you suspected peri menopause symptoms on your ttc journey? I'm getting quite worried now as my periods have been out of whack for a while. I'm currently 3 days late for AF, my boobs are killing me and I'm nauseous and feeling yucky, so there's definitely something hormonal going on.
BFNs so definitely not pregnant. Maybe cysts?

Yep. Missed my last period all together and not pregnant. Just hoping i can stave meno off just long enough.

cornflakes86 · 10/06/2023 09:16

I started using the easy at home tests this month and I find them great. Had no issues so far with using them and they are so much cheaper than clearblue . I seem to always get a peak on day 15 of my cycle on both so I don’t know why I bother really!

cornflakes86 · 10/06/2023 09:17

@mommabear64 i have really light periods since having my dc 3 years ago. Read that it can be a symptom of peri so had a bit of a freak out about that.

MK85 · 10/06/2023 10:30

@MrsLully
Interesting post. I was actually freaking myself out last night googling. These last few months ive had very short super light periods and I've felt very off now for a few weeks, like something hormonal is very wrong with me. Ive woke up every morning for the last few weeks feeling light headed and can't seem to shift it.i think it's affecting my cycle this month too. I thought I'd missed ovulation ( but I think it was the hot weather throwing my temp out ) now I actually think I'm not going to ovulate at all this cycle. I'd been looking it up and it was saying it could be peri menopause. It's left me quite stressed thinking about it as we have enough problems that are interfering with conceiving without throwing peri in the midst of things. Can a blood test diagnose peri?
