Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

I'm 36. Been trying for number two for 15 months with two MMCs in that time. I just got my peak on an OPK for this month so it's battle stations here 😂 This is our last go as we're starting IVF if AF comes on the 25th.

suz2285 · 10/04/2023 13:55

Me please! I'm 37, almost 38 (next month) husband is 41 (42 next month) TTC number 1.... feels like doom and gloom everywhere you go! After catching on the first go in late December, we had a miscarriage at 8 weeks end of Feb and back TTC again

Obviously my age is a concern for the TTC and health of any pregnancy! Didn't think i'd be the one to have any issues but you just never know. BUT in the September babies group I was in, most of them are 35-40 age group and all seem to be going well for all of them so far!

ttcat37 · 10/04/2023 14:07

37 here and TTC number 1. Had a few chemicals, done the GP tests plus AMH and everything normal. We’re about 8 months of trying now. I’m a few days away from AF, convincing myself I can see shadows on tests when they’re not there, some of you might know the drill! Glad there’s a few of us going through this- especially those TTC their first. Tired of friends and family telling me to ‘get on with it’. WE’RE TRYING!!!

knobheadex · 10/04/2023 14:19

43 here, currently hoping I manage to continue with this pregnancy. I'm 7 weeks but spotting and cramping now.

Freya8 · 10/04/2023 14:48

Same here! One more month and we’re going for IVF.

I’m 38 and TTC #1. We’ve been trying for 15 months too. I had a hycosy a couple of months back & felt optimistic that would have done the job but alas! All tests are normal so it’s unexplained… and annoying!

Haha same and telling me stress & overthinking it preventing it. Yeah, cheers for the advice 👍

Omg, the ‘just relax’ crew… 🙄🙄🙄 my GP is one of them! If stress was actually a factor then abortions wouldn’t be a thing! People could just worry themselves out of a pregnancy!
The thing that I find stressful is people saying stuff like just relax, it’ll happen, when the time’s right, etc etc. I know they mean well but it just makes me give a big old withering sigh now.

37, almost 38 here and TTC #2 (#1 for DH). On cycle 3 now and about 6DPO, but for some reason, don't think anything has happened this month. Thankfully, DH and I are enjoying the actual process of trying - we were both worried it would become a chore.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/04/2023 16:30

I was almost 44 when I gave birth to my first

I wanted to be 32/33 but Mother Nature didn't play ball

10yrs ttc and 5 private ivf and finally my one and only bfp !!!

All over my Notes it said I was geriatric and doctors mentioned it lots

Tbh it didn't really bother me.went o got extra scans as was consultant led

Dd is now is just 6. I'm almost 50

Redpanda21 · 10/04/2023 16:30

38 here, TTC #4. Spent 2 years, 4 early mc and a mmc to conceive no3 who’s one now. My AF disappeared for 4.5 months after the mmc as well.

First cycle of the pill and I’m 3dpo according to my temps.

Hoping for better luck this time!

Feliciacat · 10/04/2023 16:37

Hi everyone! I’ll be on cycle 5 starting April 15th. I got a BFN today and I’m 11dpo so cycle 4 is a wash. I’m 35 and ttc number 1. I’d like two children. Been trying for four months now.

Sending love to all of you; it is indeed frustrating when people say ‘it takes time’ and ‘just relax’. Nice to hear that @Blondeshavemorefun got her wish at age 44. So glad for you!

dodgypodgy · 10/04/2023 16:39

Hey all 👋🏻 38 TTC #2 for 2.5 years now after a second cycle bfp with DD now 5. Been through all the fertility testing and nothing amiss so unexplained secondary infertility... if one more person tells me to relax and don't think about it and it will happen, I'll scream 😂 Reckon it's IVF for us next, but would have to find the money somewhere...

OtterlyDreaming · 10/04/2023 16:51

Hey fellow "geriatrics"!
I'm 38, ttc #2 and at the end point of cycle 4 waiting for af. We had a CP second cycle, and I think any hope of an easier time than #1 (DD conceived after 15 cycles and a MC), ended after CP. Totally convinced myself that I'd felt sharp implantation pain at 9dpo this cycle but feels like af on her way and should be here tomorrow.

We were thinking about whether to jump straight to IVF given my age (it was recommended before we got lucky with DD), but I think we'll wait to get tests done with GP after 6 months trying.

Thanks for sharing your journey @Blondeshavemorefun 😀

Hope we can help to keep each other relatively sane in this thread. TTC can be so tough xx

TheBirdintheCave · 10/04/2023 17:44

@FiddleLeaf Ah yes I remember you from the other thread 😊

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/04/2023 17:50

Yes the relax. It will happen. Etx is not helpful

TypingaThesis · 10/04/2023 18:02

Hiya Ladies!

I would love to join!

I'm 39 and TTC #1

Looking forward to chatting more with you all! 😀

Stillwinston · 10/04/2023 18:47

Hello everyone! So happy to have you all here - hopefully this can be a safe space to vent and moan as we deal with all the frustrations of TTC ❤️

Any recommendations on which brand of OPKs to use? I've been using the clearblue digital ones but they keep breaking and are so bloody expensive I'm not sure I can justify the ongoing cost 😕

@Stillwinston I use the Easy@Home ones which have worked so far :)

CAJIE · 10/04/2023 18:57

Why are u colluding with misogyny and ageism by calling yourself geriatric? You are 36 ffs
If a doc calls you that report him
Do u read nothing?

Stillwinston · 10/04/2023 19:01

It's just meant to be a lighthearted thread @CAJIE, apologies if you think I'm being insulting. Not sure you need to be so rude about it tbh!
