Just a lighthearted thread for those of us now considered to be geriatric by the NHS 😂 looking to meet other women TTC who may also be feeling past their prime!

A little bit about me - I'm 36 and TTC dc no.2. Been trying for over 2 years now and depressingly started AF today so am yet again starting CD1. Hubby doesn't quite understand how upsetting this is each month so it'd be great to chat with ladies who get how I'm feeling ❤️

@Infinitebows my DH is keen to dtd all the time but he doesn't know his own limits 😂 usual frequency is every 2-3 days for us and that's fine, however on fertile week we try to do 4-5 days in a row

This last cycle he'd just started a new job and was totally exhausted, it took ages to try and get to the part where we could actually dtd if you know what I mean 😂 it was a mission, we managed 3 days in a row, but the 4th day I was so fed up and felt so much like he didn't want to and I didn't want to and there was nothing remotely fun about it that we didn't bother and I went to bed upset

It's so difficult! Literally there's only like a few days a month where it's really important to dtd but there's too many variables and pressure around that time also!

I see a lot of posts on here about seducing them and making it more sexy for them etc but jeez I'm already doing opk, temping, tracking my cm and all my symptoms and taking enough tablets to rattle but I'm also then supposed to 'make it easier for him to enjoy it' 🙈

suz2285 · 14/04/2023 08:44

@Secondtimettc snap, AF arrived today! I'm also back on the eating better and exercising more wagon cos I've been eating badly and being lazy and it's affecting my weight and my MH!

Having a grumpy and fed up morning with AF arriving 😂

cornflakes86 · 14/04/2023 08:46

@MK85 i don’t know much about clomid but I would give it a shot if it was offered to me. Same thing happened to me with hsg got pregnant same cycle as the test but unfortunately miscarried. I’ve had no luck since and was trying for almost a year before the hsg . I sometimes wonder if I need another hsg to get pregnant again

cornflakes86 · 14/04/2023 08:54

@ttcat37 thank you for this information about the hospital appointment. It is reassuring what they said about trying for two years ! I asked my fertility consultant should I go for ivf ASAP cos i am 36 and she said “there is no rush” which I also found reassuring !

cornflakes86 · 14/04/2023 08:58

@Downtherabbithole83 so sorry about your tmfr that’s really tough . hope you are doing ok and get a rainbow bfp soon.

mrsed1987 · 14/04/2023 09:15

Morning everyone. I've started taking ovulation support tablets this morning thanks to advice on here so fingers crossed it helps sort my cycle out a bit!

Infinitebows · 14/04/2023 09:20

@suz2285 @Secondtimettc sorry AF has arrived - that disappointed after waiting really does knock the mood into low gear 😞

@suz2285 4-5 days in a row! I can only dream, I'd have no chance! Usual is every 5 days 🤦🏼‍♀️ fertile week we manage every 2 - 3 days. He's on the tubby side and I tell myself that could be why. Im tempted to put a ban on it until I get my smiley CB in the hope the swimmers have built up loads by then. Not sure if that's how it works but worth a try??

Stillwinston · 14/04/2023 10:21

Morning everyone, how are you all doing today? I'm

Posted too soon!

I'm cd5 today, this week seems to have dragged so much 😩 got a load of OPKs delivered yesterday though so I'm going to start testing this weekend.

@Secondtimettc it took 2 years to conceive our first, we were literally due to start IVF and then I discovered I was pregnant. It only takes 1 sperm after all so it really is down to luck at the end of the day x

@Secondtimettc @suz2285 sorry to hear AF arrived but at least now you can focus on this new cycle - I'm really hopeful that we'll see some BFPs here this month 😊🤞

@Infinitebows the advice is generally you need to "release" the sperm every few days (at least a couple of times a week) to keep them ticking over making new healthy ones... otherwise they die and then take the healthy ones down with them. So no saving them i'm afraid. 4-5 days in a row is too much for me though, I see peoples charts with DTD every day, i'd actually hate poor DH if we did it that much! 😂

Totally get that with the tubby side bit, my DH is a rake but I notice when I'm a bit bigger my inclination to DTD is lower, I do think I feel more healthy and better at a lower weight so it could well be something to do with it. But everyone is different.

Infinitebows · 14/04/2023 11:03

@Stillwinston I've got my OPK deliveries coming tomorrow, I'm taking a leaf out of your book and starting early this time 🤞🏼😁

Thanks @suz2285 armed with this new evidence about swimmers I've got my work cut out - super seductive mode is the only way to go!

MK85 · 14/04/2023 12:30

@cornflakes86 ive definitely been considering a repeat hsg later this year. Apparently some women do more than one due to its therapeutic effects .
While I haven't been able to get pregnant again, I will it seems to have had a lasting boost to my ovaries over these past 6 months. I went from having 1 to 2 periods a year and not ovulating and after the hsg straight away had regular periods and ovulated every month. Although I definitely think it's wearing off as past two cycles and ovulation are getting longer. My last cycle ended up being 58 days

MK85 · 14/04/2023 12:35

@Infinitebows I wouldn't recommend trying to save them up as they start to detoriate in quality

Secondtimettc · 14/04/2023 12:39

@suz2285 sorry about AF. I was grumpy earlier in the week when I got my first pms symptoms but onwards and upwards now. My periods always seem much worse when TTC though!

@Infinitebows maybe prioritise the days you think are closest to ovulation. It only takes one time! Last month I think we started too soon and ran out of steam and DH had some late work nights around that time.

cornflakes86 · 14/04/2023 12:42

@MK85 thats interesting I didn’t realise the test boosted ovaries , I asked the fertility consultant about it recently and she was quite vague about it but did mention it can unblock the Fallopian tubes. I was hoping there was a blockage unblocked and that I would get pregnant again quickly after the miscarriage but no such luck unfortunately. Considering trying out iui with ovulation induction later this year, but wondering if it will be a waste of time at my age!

MK85 · 14/04/2023 12:45

@Stillwinston just had a delivery of opks today aswell. I use the easy@homes ones then when I feel I'm close to ovulation if I get above 0.50 or if I question a result I'll stick in a clearblue as I just couldn't afford to use clearblue all the time considering my cycle length has become erratic again. Last cycle didn't ovulate until day 43

MK85 · 14/04/2023 12:57

@cornflakes86 there seems to be alot of different theories regarding it.
Some reckon it can stimulate your ovaries , while others think it clears out any goo that might be blocking the tubes and preventing them meeting. There's also been some specialists who say it improves the uterine lining so who knows

EdithGrantham · 14/04/2023 13:00

Can I join please? 36 and TTC no.2 I fell pregnant straight away for DD, only started TTC last cycle but was really disappointed when AF arrived.
Can I ask what some of the acronyms are? Specifically CD and SMEP?

MK85 · 14/04/2023 13:10

@EdithGrantham CD = cycle day
SMEP = sperm meets egg plan

Mountainview8 · 14/04/2023 13:18

Hi all, I'm 37 and TTC no1 after 2 miscarriages in the last year. I'm 7dpo of my first proper cycle since the last miscarriage 🤞🤞

EdithGrantham · 14/04/2023 13:24

MK85 · 14/04/2023 13:10

@EdithGrantham CD = cycle day
SMEP = sperm meets egg plan

Thanks, just looked up SMEP, sounds a simple enough idea but last cycle AF lasted 5 days, stopped for 2 days then came back for another 2 so are we meant to DTD when I'm still on my period 😬

Stillwinston · 14/04/2023 14:29

@EdithGrantham welcome 😁 apologies for all the acronyms, I actually hate it when people use them constantly and now I'm guilty of it 😂

@Mountainview8 hi 😀 glad to have you in the group! Sorry to hear about your losses, are you using OPKs to track ovulation or just going with it? X

@MK85 woohoo! We can be serial testers together 😂
