VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@TheBirdintheCave I read on the premom app that some people's peaks could still be peaks but have lower readings, maybe that's the case with you. But you're doing the right thing by measuring BBT, it's an even better indicator. I'm a mouth breather so for me unfortunately that's not going to work. 🫠
Have you tried the one with the flashing smiley?

Do you test more than once a day?

TheBirdintheCave · 02/03/2023 08:11

@VixFromThe6ix Yeah years ago and gave up after a row of 10 flashing smilies.

@Un7breakable Yes, once around 9am and then again at 6pm.

Why wouldn't this work for you @VixFromThe6ix ? I will be honest and can't get the handle on bbt and my readings are all over the place! Lol xx

To measure correctly it has to be done every day at the same time and it has to be before you speak or open your mouth when you first wake up. Since I'm a mouth breather my mouth isn't closed all night so it won't give the correct reading. It's a lot of effort, I find. I did it one cycle and that was enough for me to not wanna do it again 😂

Wow! Maybe this is my problem too and why it doesn't work for me either! My readings are all over the place, it all makes perfect sense now! Lol thank you @VixFromThe6ix 😊'xx

TheFanciestPants · 02/03/2023 10:12

Please can I join?

I'm 35 and TTC #1. I had some issues with my cycle (couple of anovulatery cycles) following month 1 TTC in August, not sure what caused it. GP said most likely early miscarriage given I had symptoms. Gynaecologist confirmed I was ovulating again after a couple months and that everything looks in good order. I had some spotting around my periods at this point but this resolved a couple of months later.
Unfortunately I have just had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. Sudden incredibly heavy bleed and A&E trip later, I am now hoping my cycles don't go crazy and I can try again this month.
After my experience in the autumn, I use an Ovusense to confirm ovulation. I don't think it gets the ovulation date perfectly, but after a few months the patterns are quite consistent and I find it easier than OPKs and thermometer usage (although I completely get if it's not for everyone!).
Sorry for the long message and well done if you read to the end 😊

@TheFanciestPants so sorry to hear about your loss ❤ hope that your cycle comes back quickly for you, a fresh start.

I'm 11 DPO and feel like I'm catching a cold. Hope everyone else is hanging in there!

TheBirdintheCave · 02/03/2023 10:28

@TheFanciestPants Sorry for your loss :( Welcome to the group and also, excellent name 😂

I've been thinking of you @BengalMama ! Are you OK? Other than cold coming? Xx

@BengalMama sorry if I missed it...did you test yet? Sorry you're getting a cold!!

I live in Canada so everyone is pretty much sick on and off from December till now 🫠 I can't wait for the warmer weather.

@VixFromThe6ix You are in Canada! That is awesome, I'm in Scotland. I've always wanted to visit Canada 😊.

Not tested yet, nearly did this morning but I'm going to hold off until AF is either due or late, the chances of us conceiving naturally are so small, we waited 2 years and IVF to conceive our boy we lost at Christmas so I'm going to give myself a few more days of positive thinking before doing the test! My temp is staying up so I think that's a good sign? Xx

Haha let's switch!! I want to see Scotland 💕

You're so strong to wait. I'm weak and start testing at like 8-9dpo 😂😂😂 it's terrible but so irresistible because those easy at home pregnancy tests are just there looking at me from the box.

I told myself I'll try to hold off this time but I won't put my money on it 😂

@VixFromThe6ix Canada is super cool. Also on my bucket list! BBT isn’t for me either due to some mouth breathing, waking at different times and not sleeping more long enough periods

CD10 today, OPK 0.32 on premom, due to ovulate on Sunday

BengalMama · 02/03/2023 16:40

@VixFromThe6ix I wish I was brave enough to test! I spent 2 years testing non stop every month, I'll get back there no doubt at the moment I'm just going to cling to hope for a few more days! I will be here to support you with any tests you do though 💕

Baby dust to all those in the tww ans ovulation dust for all those waiting on that peak!! Xx

TrudyProud · 03/03/2023 08:00

Thanks @BengalMama @Floralsandsmiles @Freya8 .
Took the time to wallow in my self pity - between the damaged OPK holder and finishing mat leave I was ready to cry but onwards and upwards 🤣.
At around 6am this morning I started feeling aches on my abdominal LHS. I think these may be ovary pains (I made the same note when TTC). Hopefully that is the case as would suggest a CB surge yesterday (had it not broken).
I've taken note and will start testing once my next cycle starts.

Morning Girls,

I'm 35 (36 in April). I have 3 amazing DC, ages 12, 10 and 7 and i've been with my new partner for almost 2 years and because of my age we have decided to let nature take its course.

I'm new to being a more mature mum as i had my DC's when i was 24/25/28 - its been a while 😂

Hoping for an easy ride but im not naive - so here goes!

Wishing all you lots of sticky baby dust! ✨❤

Italiandreams87 · 03/03/2023 09:50

Current situation, just in case I have any beautiful ladies that are in the same boat.

I have cycles that range from 33-40 day cycles and so as you can it imagine its pot luck with my ovulation at the moment - but i ovulated on the 7th feb and I've experienced cramping (quite intense for 2 days), mild stomach pains, tender belly, tender breasts but not sore, feeling bloated and groin ache.

I'm not due my AF until 22nd march so i have a long wait to see if she shows up, and if not i'm unwell, Because i feel double rough lol.

Any advice from anyone who's been in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated! I haven't tested even though i think i am 21 dpo - I just had a few BFN's with symptoms past few months and i don't want to see it again. LOL xx

TheBirdintheCave · 03/03/2023 10:23

@Italiandreams87 That doesn't make sense 🤔 If you know for sure that you ovulated on the 7th of February then your period would be due around the 21st of Feb. You should definitely test.

Good morning @Italiandreams87 ! I'm 35 and 36 in july. I also have a near 13 year old. So I'm new to all this as I was so very young when I had my DC.
All this tracking and temping and vitamin taking is a mindfield! Lol its whether we are doing the right thing and constantly researching if there is more we could do.. we want another DC so much! Sending everyone tonnes of baby dust!! Xxxx

BengalMama · 03/03/2023 11:21

Morning everyone 🥰

@TrudyProud I'm sorry its been tough! The pains are a good sign though and hopefully next cycle will be easier with a working opk reader!! You never know what could happen this cycle though ❤

@Italiandreams87 Welcome! Sending positive vibes to you! I know how scary it is to test and how devastating it is to see a bfn but end of march does seem like a long time if you ovulated at the start of Feb?

12dpo today for me and temp is still up, fertility friend has said potentially triphastic but since its my first month temping I'm not sure I can put any weight into it since I have nothing to compare it against. Xx

Mummyme87 · 03/03/2023 12:03

CD11 today and did an OPK earlier and it’s looked positive! I really wasn’t expecting it today as usually get one on CD12! Hoping it maybe gets stronger. Premom only put it down as a 0.91

TheFanciestPants · 03/03/2023 13:36

Thanks for being so welcoming! I am still spotting at the moment (it's been a pretty horrid few days) and had to cancel my appointments which felt pretty final. I am going to start temping again when the spotting stops.

@TheBirdintheCave - ha! My husband calls me fancypants when I wear my sweaty betty leggings (I am a pilates enthusiast) but that was taken so I went a step further!

@Italiandreams87 - I would definitely test, sounds very promising.

@BengalMama - triphasic sounds very exciting. Will keep my fingers crossed for you. I have never had a triphasic one and it seems very aspirational in temping circles.

Hi lovely, that wasn't my peak ovulation day and i have 40 day cycles. Hence why my period is due the 21st March, i have been tracking my periods and ovulation for just over 12 months on two different apps. So im sure its right, but who knows!!😂
