2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

39 and have been trying for 6 months. Am worried I've missed the boat.

BengalMama · 28/02/2023 20:30

@Floralsandsmiles Yes ❤ so good to hear!! Us being poas addicts is a good thing, means we catch that surge!! Yours is looking great, what a spike 💪xx

@Freya8 It will come, don't lose heart! What CD are you on? I know its so frustrating when it's late but keep testing, tomorrow is a new day and like Florals tomorrow you might spike in one day! Xx

I've been staring at my temp chart all day, new to temping and fertility friend so trying to learn about the analysis tools!

@VixFromThe6ix I think I need to get some of those ovulation tests. I can't quite bring myself to temp and go to all that faff again, but it's not like we're having anywhere near as much sex as we used to, especially as we're living with relatives at the moment while renovating 🙈

That's why I like the opk sticks.... We definitely aren't having as much sex either just cause we are so tired and I cosleep with our son so finding time is difficult. With opks at least I know it has to happen to we both make it work.

@BengalMama im only off the pill there on 21st feb lolll so ive no clue about my cycle as i never had a period on it maybe like a few random ones! So been off the pill a week now so was shocked to see a flashing smiley so so soon there on saturday. Maybe i shudnt have tested so soon its jus my dd was conceived straight away after i came off pill last time and i foolishly thought now would be the same! Still early days but inwardly i am making up all this stuff before its even happened!

Thank you @BengalMama 😊 yes absolutely! Can you imagine! It went up that much between 1pm and 6.30pm! I almost missed it! Plus I was ready to give up on day 11 of flashing face! Lol soooo glad I didn't!
If its that strong does it mean I'm in for a good chance?

Temp chart honey? Meaning bbt? Xxx

BengalMama · 28/02/2023 20:45

@Floralsandsmiles I'm no expert but I would say a strong surge is a great sign, although I know that it's just an indication that the body is preparing to ovulate and temping is recommended to really confirm ovulation took place but absolutely 1000s of people only use OPKs and get pregnant fine! Time to get busy and in a few days you'll be in the tww ❤!

Yep, I'm using fertility friend for recording my temp, it's new to me but really interesting! Just seems like lots to learn. Have you ever done it before? Xx

@Freya8 it's good that got your flashing face so quick after coming off the pill! I think CB tests use a baseline reading to then find your surge, so it could be that it was a bit soon if you only came off the pill a week ago but if you have the tests I would keep going! Thr flashing face has to mean something otherwise it would have been a blank circle! Xx

@BengalMama I have tracked my bbt, that is the blue line on my graph. I need to track that going up and then back down. I use premom app for all of this tracking.. xxx

@Freya8 I agree with @BengalMama, a flashing smile means the other hormone is present. So this is good and keep going! Xxx

VixFromThe6ix · 28/02/2023 20:55

Crossing fingers I'm getting that spike soon. Cd17 and still low 🫤 is this late to ovulate?

Hi! 6mos isn't a long time. Are you tracking ovulation or just listening to your body? And 39 is not too late!! 🙂 I think we all had those thoughts but are not giving up 💪

OP posts:
Mummys · 28/02/2023 21:09

No I've not been tracking because I diddnt want to put too much pressure on us but I think if nothing happens this month, I need to start.

DP has a child already, so must be me that's not working.

How long is your cycle normally? Pre DD I had an 11 day luteal phase which I think is on the shorter side but was fine for me.

It's not over till AF so try to remain positive

VixFromThe6ix · 28/02/2023 21:31

@Mummys don't say that!! Start tracking, just so you know when you're ovulating. It's tedious and takes the fun out but honestly I doubt I'd get pregnant if I didn't because my ovulation was not in the CD14-16 day range as would be ideal.

We are trying again and I'm CD17 today and still not ovulating. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pre baby#1 I had weird cycles...29 days in length on average...but lots of pre period spotting... (Low progesterone)
So after my period came back post pregnancy, it was 7 days in length about every 28 days. I was so happy to have regular period.
But my period last month (January) came a whole week early and my last period (February) was kind of weird because I had the spotting for 3 days before heavy day and heavy day wasnt really heavy compared to normal and it lasted 9 days.
So I dunno... It's been a little strange. Like I need to spike today in order to ovulate tomorrow to keep my luteal phase at 10-11 days. Sounds like I'd be cutting it close.
I don't think we should TTC if luteal phase is any shorter. It just brings back all the traumatic experiences with my two MCs which were a result of low progesterone/short luteal phase 😫

Sorry I rambled....

Sorry to hear this @VixFromThe6ix ! How did you over come low progesterone/ short luteal phase, to conceive your DC? Xx

I was prescribed progesterone to be taken vaginally. It regulated my period by getting the spotting to stop and that in turn has extended the luteal phase. I'm not joking, 3 most after starting progesterone we got pregnant and stayed pregnant. I just wish I knew this before we started trying. Could have avoided the heartache

Really needed to see this tonight. Had my first DS when I was 26 with no problems (6 weeks after coming off the pill) 9 years later, I've turned 35, 6 losses later and beginning to wonder what's wrong with me. I'm under Tommy's miscarriage clinic. Wondering if my bodies just had enough 😢 X

Aww OK gotcha. Did you have any symptoms of low progesterone? Or just diagnosed via blood work? Xxx

I'm so sorry to hear your journey has been so challenging. You're strong and resilient for having it in you to keep trying. Truly. After 2, I said if one more I'm done.
Have you done any tests? After 6, I reckon they must try to see if there is anything that's stopping the little bean from sticking?

@Floralsandsmiles So sorry, I have line eyes from staring at too many charts and completely missed your bbt line! Ive been using premom as well as fertility friend this month, it is super interesting doing bbt! I'll attach my bbt chart as well 😊

@Mummys Please don't get so worried! Try tracking for a month and see if it gives you any additional insights to your cycle, sometimes we ovulate late, sometimes early, @VixFromThe6ix is so right, it's good to track just so you know where you are, it might take some worry out your mind.

@VixFromThe6ix definitely not too late, it will come don't worry! 💪❤

We've just gone for genetic testing but that said it could take up to 2 months to get the results. Had hormone panel, thyroid and the Resus D one (not sure how it's spelt) they said for me to take progesterone from when I get a positive but I have a 10 day luteal phase. X

So brown spotting before your heavy days usually means low progesterone. I'm talking upwards of 7 days of spotting before!!
I didn't know that's what it was and my family doctor has told me for years that spotting is fine. Turns out it's not.
Fertility clinic took 18 viles of blood and somehow progesterone wasn't one of them.
I ended up digging more into spotting and found an article about low progesterone so during one of the consultations, I brought it up to the doctor who said, let's try putting you on progesterone. It worked.
