2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @TheBirdintheCave Sorry you’ve both been poorly, hope you’re feeling better soon.

@Eirlys1986 Oh my word that sounds stressful! That’s dreadful I hope your Mum recovers soon.

@Un7breakable I’m in the opposite situation, I’ve had the bloods but have to wait until Sept for a scan! I would definitely do your own bloods if you can. Why won’t the docs do them, is it because you’ve not been TTC for long enough?

I’m on a day out with family today, only 4dpo so not at the overthinking stage yet, enjoying the moment before the later stage 2WW madness begins!

Just a thought on the home progesterone testing kits. I presume they are essentially checking the day(ish) 21 progesterone to confirm whether ovulation appears to have occurred or not. For those with a short luteal phase (of which I suspect I may be one- only on cycle 2 of tracking so waiting to see what happens ) - will a day 21 progesterone give an answer as to whether the progesterone is not maintained high enough to prolong the luteal phase adequately for implantation? I.e you could get a “normal” day 21 progesterone result as you did indeed ovulate but then perhaps not have enough continued progesterone present in the luteal phase to build up adequate lining for a pregnancy to implant.

Yes I believe so @Eirlys1986 . I know I ovulate as my scan said I do, the bloods are for progesterone levels, to try to find out if there is a deficiency and its effecting my LP cxx

TrudyProud · 10/04/2023 11:25

Hi ladies, I'm back! For those who've gotten their BFPs - congratulations! For those still waiting- 🤞🏾🤞🏾and baby dust.

I've just finished my period so this will be cycle 1 of TTC DC#2. Not expecting to get as much baby dancing done as we did with DD but thankfully DH and I overlap WFH 3 days a week so worse case scenario we'll definitely get some daytime 💃🏾 🤣. This time around we've decided No OPKs (I'm BF but confirmed last cycle I am ovulating the same as pre DC 🙌🏾) unless we've not got our BFP by the summer. Last time we conceived cycle one so 🤞🏾.

Let the games begin

@Eirlys1986 have you seen the doggy diapers! Maybe you need some for the stay. Also enzyme cleaner from pet store if does pee anywhere - totally kills biological smells I use it to clean my bin also or any child vomit 🤢

@Floralsandsmiles it is the worst part, the first day of period, or seeing a negative test. Makes you feel so despondent.

Re the progesterone testing, the advantage of a home test is being able to do it on the right day. With booking it via the Dr, some can be rigid on 21 days (when it should be 7 dpo) and you often have to book it in in advance and it might not be quite right for your cycle that month

Un7breakable · 10/04/2023 11:33

@vitahelp Drs investigating the spotting as health problem rather than fertility. Said as I have regular cycles it's unlikely to be hormonal.

Hope your scan results are good

Un7breakable · 10/04/2023 11:40

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Is it defo 7DPO? Superdrug website says 7 days before period. I'm going to order one but my period varies between 24-29 days whereas I know ovulation date. I have shorter LP if that makes a difference 10-13 days.

Agreed @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7! Feeling more positive today and not as tearful. I was a mess yesterday.
Aww OK, yes OK, agreed. Home test is better for this. I just caught the ovulation and booked the test 7 days later 😊 xxx

Muriel84 · 10/04/2023 13:26

@Eirlys1986 thanks for all the info that’s very handy to know! Maybe I just want to check my levels so I can continue to obsess over my own stats.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 very useful to know about the enzyme cleaner. The smell of cat wee is so pervasive. This group is useful for some many things!

@TrudyProud im also still BF once at night. Fairly sure it’s not effecting my cycles tho. Periods came back five months post partum when bubs was still feeding incessantly alllll day and allll night. Fun times. X

Bumblebee413 · 10/04/2023 15:37

Oh @AgeGapBbe and @TheBirdintheCave I'm so sorry, that's rubbish. And the absolute last thing you needed @AgeGapBbe xxx

@Eirlys1986 that is a super full house, how is your Mum doing with the pain from those injuries? They sound nasty. You are doing such a good job powering through all that you have on yiur plate at present.

Hello cycle buddies @Muriel84 and @vitahelp ! Sending you baby dust. I have a total of zero symptoms and a cracking cold to accompany that 😎

@Floralsandsmiles I'm glad you're feeling a little better. But also, it's just so ok to feel sad- this is such an emotional rollercoaster and so much healthier to allow yourself space to feel what you're feeling and accept them rather than just pushing through. You're right- the more you know the easier it is to take steps forward.

@VixFromThe6ix I think you're right- good to know where you are with his levels x

@BengalMama sending you love and hope that you managed to get some excellent gardening done xxx

Golaz · 10/04/2023 15:40

Hello all! Can I join? 39 and ttc #3. Not sure how many cycles I’ve been trying for as 1) I’m breastfeeding and cycles are all over the place, and 2) having 2 toddlers , and being permanently exhausted, definitely makes timing a challenge 😅.
Im possibly 11dpo but realistically I have no idea when I ovulated this month and we only DTD once so I’m not very hopeful for this round 🙃

Cirque1 · 10/04/2023 17:50

Hi, can I join, please?

I'm 36 and currently pregnant with our third. I'm only about 4 weeks and 6 days, so I am supernervous.

I already spent a fortune on tests and I tested again this afternoon.

Please see pic attached, does this look good to you?

I am a bit insecure because I never get a test line that's stronger than the control line on the Internet cheapies. They are either fainter than the control line or same colour as in attached pic.

With my daughter I had a strong dye stealer on an Internet cheapie a few days after my period was due.

I had a chemical between my son and my daughter, so I am terrified of it happening again. :(((((

Congratulations on your BFP.

As you are on baby 3 you know how destructive this POAS addiction can be. As you are nearly 5 weeks pregnant maybe take a CB digital so it can age your weeks (rapid response may be impacted by hook effects as your hormone levels will be much higher than that needed for a BFP on FRER) As long as it says 2-3 weeks or 3weeks + stop testing.

I mean this in the kindest way possible but POAS won't make an unviable pregnancy stick but it can add unnecessary stress in an already stressful time. TTC is a rollercoaster 💕

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 18:42

@Bumblebee413 thanks for the kind words and to everyone else who has been nice about my full house today! It is super tricky to manage everyone’s needs including my own at present but I plan to have some time alone with the I pad and the crown tonight whilst I batch cook our food for the week once toddler has gone to bed (I really enjoy doing this so do consider it a “treat” believe it or not) 😂
@Golaz 2 toddlers and BF! A lot on your plate. I’m on. Cycle number 2 of trying for baby numero 2; breastfeeding my 18 month old and only managed to get energy together to DTD once in cycle one so I feel you on that one!
@Cirque1 congratulations it’s looking good to me, from my medical perspective a positive is a positive no matter how it’s looking. It’s hard but in these early weeks we all just have to see how things pan out but I understand the anxiety relating to that is super tough xxx

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 19:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Ps thanks for the doggy diaper and enzyme cleaner ideas. Will have a look 👀

Cirque1 · 10/04/2023 19:11

@TrudyProud @Eirlys1986 Thank you :) You can drive yourself crazy with testing and it's so expensive.

I did a clearblue week test today as well and it dated me at 2-3 weeks. I secretly hoped it would date me at 3 + hehe.

I will stop testing now though as it will only worry me and give me anxiety.

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 19:17

@Cirque1 hopefully there is nothing to worry about and all will be well but as previously said by another poster it’s sad but true that us worrying about and retesting in these situations does affect the eventual outcome. Good luck to you ! X

BB2023 · 10/04/2023 20:26

Hi everyone. I'm 35 and just started TTC. I have a 11yr old daughter from a previous relationship but it's my husband's first.
Think TTC will be very different this time round, I was much younger previously and didn't track cycles or take ovulations tests so this feels like a new experience for me and I'm worried it may take some time or not happen at all.
Sending lots of positive vibes and good luck to everyone here x

VixFromThe6ix · 10/04/2023 22:02

Welcome @BB2023 !! Good luck to you as well with trying for baby #2!! Hope it won't be a tough road head for you 🤞🏻

@Golaz welcome!! Best of luck with your testing!!! I commend you for not testing at 11dpo yet ahahaha I'm terrible and test super early

VixFromThe6ix · 10/04/2023 22:06

Hi @Cirque1 , congratulations!!!
For what it's worth I never had a test line darker than control line in HCG tests, so long as you see progression i think it's looking good. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

It's always the first day I feel the worst, it's the loss of the hope for good news, finally... 😕 the next day I want AF over and done with, so I can start again. Lol how are you @Muriel84 ? Xxx

I’m good thanks. 3dpo so in the more chilled out half of the 2ww and have had a nice bank holiday weekend catching up with friends and family. Hope your af isn’t a bad one and you’re treating yourself to something nice xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/04/2023 07:06

@Eirlys1986 cooking and a box set sounds great!

@Golaz hello, hope you're okay

I'm 10dpo and haven't tested yet. Might just wait until either I start spotting or test on Thursday if I don't as I've a dinne rout with friends then

Freya8 · 11/04/2023 07:16

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 hey 10dpo too! Have u any symptoms? I think am out as abso nothin xx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/04/2023 07:27

@Freya8 no not really. Some cramps and stuff but I think that's being ill. I did realise I spotted at 9dpo last month but I was just giving up breastfeeding, so my cycle is bound to change this month 🤷‍♀️ When will you test?

Freya8 · 11/04/2023 07:30

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 trying to hold out to the weekend tho i hear so many ppl testing pos at 9/10dpo!
