2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

Hi can I join this thread? Currently CD21 and ovulated around CD15/16. Cycles usually 27/28 days. Got a horrible headache today and feel off. Food doesn’t taste like it usually does and having cramping on and off with a bit of heartburn too. I’m 44 years old and ttc number 4 for me and first for my OH. Trying to stop symptom spotting! And have frer coming today via Amazon.

Eirlys1986 · 09/04/2023 12:19

@Floralsandsmiles so sorry to hear you’re out, sending luck for next cycle x

@LeopardLover how are you getting on?

@VixFromThe6ix the tests sound good, think it's worth it just to double check

@TTCnumberfour welcome

@Floralsandsmiles I'm sorry that's so rubbish. I hesitate to write this, but in case it's useful, I had spotting at a similar time to you for a few cycles after my miscarriage before my first. The dr said it can be indicative of low progesterone (even though my basic hormone tests came back within range). I saw an acupuncturist who said its a sign of unbalanced hormones, of which progesterone is one. I think the acupuncture really helped rebalance me (eliminated the spotting) but I also did the other stuff meant to boost progesterone such as taking liposomal vitamin C, B vitamins, Mediterranean diet etc.

VixFromThe6ix · 09/04/2023 12:32

@Floralsandsmiles I double what @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 said about progesterone. I had this where I spotted for almost a week prior to my period actually coming. I was being told by my family doctor it's normal for as long as I can remember till I went to a fertility clinic after my MCs and they said it's likely low progesterone that's causing the spotting. I went on to take progesterone vaginally and low and behold, two cycles later we got pregnant with my son. My doctor explained that the spotting doesn't allow the uterus lining to be thick enough to hold the egg which is why I miscarried. So I'm not sure if you looked into this, but it might be worth your while. Sorry you're out this cycle, let's get ready for the next cycle 🤞🏻I'm waiting for my period to come in the next couple days. Also worth noting, after giving birth, my periods are normal whereas I don't have that long lasting spotting. Hoping that means my progesterone has regulated itself....

@TTCnumberfour welcome!!! Symptom spotting is so easy to do when we are so full of hope haha this cycle I had none which is weird... Wishing you a bfp when you get your frer and test!!

@Floralsandsmiles I’m sorry to read your update, so frustrating isn’t it. I hope you can find a solution and lengthen your luteal phase.

Thank you @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @VixFromThe6ix . I have an incling that it could be low progesterone too, so the docs have done cd3 and cd21 bloods, I'm waiting on the results. I'm worries incase it doesn't get found as low and then they won't prescribe me any progesterone 😔 xxxx

Floralsandsmiles · 09/04/2023 19:50

Thank you to you all for your kind words and best wishes, I really appreciate them all! Xxx

@Floralsandsmiles do you have regular cycles? I asked for my bloods to be done as have week long spotting starting 7/8 dpo and mid cycle but GP said if my periods were regular it wasn't low progesterone so wouldnt test. Although she did send me for a scan. Tempted to do one of those mail order blood tests.

Hi @Un7breakable , yes my periods are regular. I had a scan too. The spotting has been the last 4 months xxx

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/04/2023 08:15

Ugh well I either had food poisoning or a vomiting bug last night 😩 and not just me it has struck down our house. Feeling so miserable

TheBirdintheCave · 10/04/2023 08:56

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Me too! It was horrible. I feel much better this morning thankfully. Hope you are at least a little better too!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/04/2023 08:57

Oh gosh so sorry @TheBirdintheCave really not fun. There must be something going around. Hope you're feeling a lot better soon also

Muriel84 · 10/04/2023 09:03

@Floralsandsmiles im so sorry this happened. How are you feeling today? I had a similar thing last cycle when I spotted 9dpo for a few days then my period started. I also felt horrendous, so exhausted, nauseous and light headed. Was so gutted with repeated bfn even tho chances of pregnancy were so slim. Never spotted like that tho I was on the mini pill for six months coming off in January and spotted loads on that for the first few months. was really surprised how devastated I was.

@Un7breakable im also tempted to get one of those Mail order tests. I’d never heard of them but saw someone mentioned them on another thread. They’re not too expensive?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @TheBirdintheCave so sorry you’re both sick, especially over the bank hols! Wishing you and your families a speedy recovery. Hope you got to enjoy the sun before this crappy weather hit xx

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 09:04

@TheBirdintheCave and @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 …hope you both feel better soon. Definitely something going round, other half has it and I was intensely nauseous the other day and bloated but thought it was ovulation related 😂. I’ve also got an elderly mother staying with us having tripped over her dog and broken her shoulder and back, her Westie who has alzheimers, our cockapoo and my 18 month old with ear infection/teething whining the place down….so yeh, really living the dream this Easter 😆

Un7breakable · 10/04/2023 09:14

@Floralsandsmiles Thanks. After the scan I might go back to GP and push for bloods.

@Muriel84 the cheapest I've found is £40 for thryroid and £60 for progesterone from superdrug. Most others are about £160.

I just worry the GP won't accept the mail order test results.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/04/2023 09:29

@Eirlys1986 that's a very full house! Hope your poor mother recovers soon! But yep not the relaxing Easter you might have been envisaging 😅

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 09:48

Thanks @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 , at present I am trying my best to lean into the chaos and not lose my mind during the weeks she is staying with us. Looking forward to going to work tomorrow for a nice rest 😆 xxx

Thanks @Muriel84 . Bowels opened today and more red blood. So definitely AF on the way. Feeling disappointed but more positive than yesterday and just want AF to arrive now, so can start again.

I would love one of the tests too, which one do you guys think are the moat reliable and I will get one of those..

Sorry to hear you were sick @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 and @TheBirdintheCave xxxx

I would @Un7breakable ! I'm really hoping that my bloods come back with low progesterone as that can be fixed! Xxx

Muriel84 · 10/04/2023 10:11

@Eirlys1986 wow your poor mum! They sound like awful injuries. And poor you too! We have a very badly behaved cat I can barely cope with. Pees everywhere.

@Un7breakable thank you! Had no idea Superdrug do them. Will look them up. Amazing what you can just order your self. I don’t have any thyroid concerns but would consider the progesterone test if I spot again.

@Floralsandsmiles glad you’re feeling more positive. It’s such a rollercoaster of emotions. Xx

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 10:13

@Muriel84 your cat sounds like mums dog, we literally stalk him around the house to make sure he isn’t peeing all over our things 😂 not ideal.

It's always the first day I feel the worst, it's the loss of the hope for good news, finally... 😕 the next day I want AF over and done with, so I can start again. Lol how are you @Muriel84 ? Xxx

Eirlys1986 · 10/04/2023 10:22

Just a thought on the home progesterone testing kits. I presume they are essentially checking the day(ish) 21 progesterone to confirm whether ovulation appears to have occurred or not. For those with a short luteal phase (of which I suspect I may be one- only on cycle 2 of tracking so waiting to see what happens ) - will a day 21 progesterone give an answer as to whether the progesterone is not maintained high enough to prolong the luteal phase adequately for implantation? I.e you could get a “normal” day 21 progesterone result as you did indeed ovulate but then perhaps not have enough continued progesterone present in the luteal phase to build up adequate lining for a pregnancy to implant.
