2023 TTC 35+

1000 replies

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@overthinkersanonnymus you are very brave, it's such a rubbish thing to happen.
Onwards and upwards indeed 😊

Bumblebee413 · 28/03/2023 20:57

How is everyone doing? X

AgeGapBbe · 28/03/2023 21:28

I counted up, 9 months of monitoring ovulation and dtd at the right time- and nothing. All the current focus in my family is my sister’s new baby and all I’ve got to look forward to is a fibroid removal which I’m terrified about.

I’ve been better.

Bumblebee413 · 28/03/2023 21:46

I'm sorry @AgeGapBbe, that sounds incredibly tough. Do you have a date for the removal? Are they causing you any pain?

AgeGapBbe · 28/03/2023 21:57

Thanks. No, no date yet, they only found it about 3 weeks ago. It’s not even causing me any grief- I went to the doctor because I had 2 months of mid cycle bleeding but that was all. The procedure sounds really unpleasant, they don’t even know if it’s stopping us conceiving. But you have to abstain from unprotected sex for the month before the op, then there’s the recovery… it’s all just a bit shit.

FiddleLeaf · 28/03/2023 22:40

Hey everyone, CD11 here so testing and waiting for a flashing or static smiley then onto cycle 15 🤞🏻

Found out a close relative and two friends are pregnant in the past week. Delighted for them but it feels like a little punch to the stomach each time 😔

Mummyme87 · 29/03/2023 07:04

@FiddleLeaf i get that feeling. It will be your turn soon.

CD13 and no positive opk yet!! I usually get one on CD11/12. They are sitting between 0.2-0.4 on premom, very odd and unusual for me

Aww I'm sorry @AgeGapBbe! Sending you hugs and thinking of you! Xxx

Bumblebee413 · 29/03/2023 12:29

@AgeGapBbe that is pretty shit, I'm sorry. Plenty of babies are conceived with fibroids in place, but it'll be nice to know it's gone I guess.

@FiddleLeaf we had a nephew/ niece announced a few weeks ago and it is such a crazy mix of feelings

@Mummyme87 fingers crossed something turns up soon! X

Eirlys1986 · 29/03/2023 21:22

Hey everyone 👋, hope you are all well this evening. CD 8 for me and doing my OPK awaiting the flashies and fixed smileys. Found my 18 month old wandering around the living room chewing one of the digital ovulation test sticks this morning that he had obviously fished out of the bathroom bin 🤢…. Remind me why I want another one again? 😆

TheBirdintheCave · 29/03/2023 23:17

@Eirlys1986 My two year old licked a dried patch of bird poo on a slide today 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Toddlers are fabulous 😂

VixFromThe6ix · 30/03/2023 02:35

Hi everyone!! What did I miss :)

My 14mos old was sick with a bad cold so I haven't been very active on here.

I think I had my peak today and ovulation is tomorrow. Here comes the waiting game....

@AgeGapBbe I hope the removal procedure is not too terrible. 🤞🏻

@FiddleLeaf I can also relate. You're happy for them but inside you ask why not me. My husband's best friend and his wife announced both pregnancies at the exact same time I was going through a miscarriage. Definitely felt like a punch in the stomach on top of how terrible I already felt. But you can only hang in there and be strong and be positive that soon it will be you announcing your happy news 💌

@Eirlys1986 that made me laugh!!! This is why you want another one.... They make life worth living.

@vitahelp I use easy@home and had this tonight. I know this is an evap again as I had one just like it a couple of months ago.

I'm only 8/9dpo so it's far too dark to be real! I'll be retesting in the morning obviously to confirm but it's still frustrating!!

Wow I'd be absolutely doing a happy dance if I saw that line! Crazy. I used easy at home and never had this happen before. It caught all 3 pregnancies super early at like 8dpo. I applaud you for being so strong and positive. I'd be pretty crushed. But I guess if you had this before, you know it can happen. It's just so.... There. And in colour. I'm sorry

Similar here but I got a static smile this evening on Clearblue (day13) after a negative this morning and ov pain on my RHS. Let this be the night 🤞🏻

Oh my love, that’s so tough.

I’m trying to frame everyone else getting pregnant as if there’s a queue and I’m working my way up it.

Mummyme87 · 30/03/2023 22:58

@FiddleLeaf I’ve had my positive OPK today, was positive at 10am and got darker as the day went on. CD14 today! So ovulation must be tomorrow meaning AF would be due 13th April. Fingers crossed she doesn’t turn up!

Ah good news! Such a relief to get the peak.

fingers crossed AF leaves us alone! It’s due on the 15th for me but keeping everything crossed and feeling positive this month!

Eirlys1986 · 31/03/2023 08:49

@FiddleLeaf and @Mummyme87 good luck to you both this cycle! Fingers crossed 🤞.
Have reluctantly decided to rule myself out this cycle, flashy smileys started yesterday on CD9 but then made (the perhaps!) mistake of calculating a due date based on LMP and it would be Boxing Day. Spoke to DH about it and his immediate reaction was he really doesn’t want that if we can prevent it. Complicating factor is we have my elderly mother who lives far away to stay with us periodically as my dad passed away last May and I have no siblings, so having Xmas baby would also potentially leave her without us over Xmas too as we would struggle to manage everything at once over the holiday period I think.
I am acutely aware that there are so many on here who would dearly love to get pregnant regardless of due date and I apologise if this seems insensitive to anyone reading this who feels that way . I am also aware things could not work out so quickly for us this time as it did with first child and I’ll be looking back on this feeling very silly but hey ho.
I will continue to test as I’ve started and it will give me more info about my cycle now as this is only 2nd cycle of trying for me.

FiddleLeaf · 31/03/2023 09:00

That’s fair enough @Eirlys1986. If you fell you don’t need the stress leading up to it.

If we’re lucky this month due date would be around 23rd Dec 🎅🏻 I was hoping for a quiet one at home this year so it would work out beautifully.

Eirlys1986 · 31/03/2023 09:16

@FiddleLeaf here’s hoping you get the quiet xmas (and additonal xmas gift!) you want this year! ❤️ 🎅 x
I shall look forward (impatiently) to starting to try again next month !

Mummyme87 · 31/03/2023 09:26

@Eirlys1986 I totally get that, particularly if you’re early on in TTC process. I had two months break Jan and Feb because we are going to Rhodes for my sisters wedding in October so there’s a period of time I couldn’t be more than 36wks pregnant nor have a less than 2weeks old baby. If this was our cycle EDF would be 2nd week of December, like 18th ish. Far from what I would have ever wanted but I’m now 18months in and there’s an appeal of a Christmas baby. Next cycle is a different matter however, my birthday is 15th Jan and DS2 is 14th Jan. I’m really not feeling another January baby 😏 but do I hold out next cycle, I’m not sure. Maybe we will keep trying but I will be less OTT about it. Not sure.

so have done another OPK and it’s more positive than yesterdays!! Got my first positive yesterday morning at 10am, it got darker as the day went on. Assumed today I would ovulate… and now have a darker test line. Does ovulation still occur 12-24hrs after first positive (so when the LH surge has started) or from the darkest positive?

Eirlys1986 · 31/03/2023 09:32

@Mummyme87 , thanks for your message and sharing about when you’ve put TTC on hold. If it were me I would assume ovulation 24 hours after the darkest line as that would surely represent biggest surge and therefore the “peak” in LH?

Bumblebee413 · 31/03/2023 11:08

I know what you mean. Our due date would be the 25th, which, if I'm honest i don't really want for a child, even just around the Christmas period. So it has given me some pause for thought. But I figure it could come a week early or late or... you just don't know. I also have no guarantee we would conceive this time and with DH being away for 6 weeks at a time, I think we just need to press on.

But I do think it's wise to look at the whole picture. You just never know do you? No certainties with conception, pregnancy or children 😂

My DH is back tomorrow and I'm so excited to see him. I'm on CD 10 today, so fingers crossed the stars align. Although I am pretty convinced my DD was conceived at the end of my period... so who knows.

LeopardLover · 31/03/2023 11:50

@Eirlys1986 This all makes perfect sense! Part of the reason I'm delaying TTC now is because I want to avoid a Dec/Jan birthday if possible. I'd definitely feel differently if I'd been trying for a while! I'd love another Spring baby but appreciate we can't time these things 😊
