2023 TTC 35+

1000 replies

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

@Muriel84 I used clear blue early ones 😬, so really do need to stop now. I was like this with my first pregnancy and hate to think what I must’ve spent. To be honest I am fully aware I am doing it almost for the fun of doing them regardless of knowing it will be negative, it’s that slim possibility of getting an early positive that makes me keep doing it…. Addicted?! Moi? 😂 I have no more tests in house and will be busy in work next two days so hopefully this should stop my crazed peeing till Wednesday 😆. I shall keep my fingers crossed for you (and all of us)

vitahelp · 19/03/2023 21:35

Hi everyone, hope you’ve all had a good weekend. I’m 8dpo today and feeling very odd this evening. I’ve got a weird ache in my middle radiating to my back. It’s not quite as bad as period pain but I can’t ignore it either. I had a similar thing when I was pregnant with my daughter so obviously getting my hopes up. It’s not like me to symptom spot these days now I’m 12 cycles in, as I’ve experienced pretty much every “symptom” going while TTC this time and it’s never been pregnancy.
The rational part of me is remembering that it could be a multitude of other things causing this ache and that it’s probably too early to feel pregnancy symptoms anyway at 8dpo..

@Eirlys1986 @Muriel84 I’ve no tests in the house, I managed not to test at all last cycle so hoping I can do that again this time but we’ll see!

Eirlys1986 · 19/03/2023 22:38

@vitahelp fingers crossed your aching portends something good! 🤞 well done for having the self control I evidently do not possess to avoid testing for an entire cycle! 😂. I also have some lower tummy ache tonight but it could be early period (last cycle was off and early) or related to the curry I made for dinner 😂

LeopardLover · 19/03/2023 23:03

@vitahelp Best of luck - I really hope these twinges are the sign of something positive! :)

I can't wait to symptom spot with you all, even the POAS early gang ha ha.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 20/03/2023 04:15

@LeopardLover and @TheBirdintheCave so sorry to hear about your Dads, and I really hope they're both doing okay. I lost mine a couple of years ago to a fast cancer, and the stress of hoping and trying to find a treatment while watching them suffer and get so sick is horrific.

Good luck to all of you with possibly symptoms, aches, spotting etc and hope it turns up something fruitful!

TheBirdintheCave · 20/03/2023 07:02

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 Mine had a stem cell transplant from my brother in October 2020 (very scary time what with Covid and me also being eight months pregnant) which was successful :) He has a few issues with platelet levels now and sore leg muscles but overall is doing well.

TheBirdintheCave · 20/03/2023 07:04

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm really sorry about yours 😢 Cancer is just horrible and unfair. I hope they find a suitable cure for all cancers in our lifetime.

vitahelp · 20/03/2023 08:02

Well the aching seems to have gone today (9dpo) and feel quite normal, so my hopes have dropped again. Probably for the best as there is less chance of disappointment that way, and if I do turn out to be pregnant it will be a nice surprise!

@Eirlys1986 Haha in the early days I was a nightmare for early testing! I've definitely calmed a lot now I'm further into TTC and was also starting to struggle with the disappointment of seeing BFNs. I'm not sure how long I would wait to test if AF ended up being late, I'm almost scared of ever testing again!

Muriel84 · 20/03/2023 13:31

I’m 10dpo today. Still feeling a bit sick but not as bad. Had a bright red bleed this morning very light. No idea what’s going on. Feel like my period is about to start still a bit crampy. I don’t know if this is now cd1 for me. I’ve been on the pill most my life but when I’ve not been I’ve had very regular periods. Feeling a bit lost and miserable. X

Muriel84 · 20/03/2023 13:34

@vitahelp not testing at all sounds sensible! I’ve just been trying to work out what’s going on I hate not knowing. I could understand if this bleeding was some sort of chemical (had two early losses before conceived DS and have a condition where im more like to miscarry). Used boots early test earlier and bfn. X

TurnLeftAtTheBakery · 20/03/2023 14:36

I've no idea what's going on with my cycle. I've been tracking it with an app for years and the app says its a normal cycle with 26 day cycle however last Saturday was supposed to be ovulation day. I tested days before it and continued after it but nothing. I'm starting to think I'm not ovulating as I had issues last few cycles. The first one I thought I just missed it as didn't track every day but i've been using a variety of tests and it doesn't seem like i'm getting a LH rise - I'm getting estrogen rise though.

vitahelp · 20/03/2023 14:37

@Muriel84 That sounds confusing, has the bleeding stopped now? How long has it been since you stopped taking the pill? I'm sorry you're not feeling good about things. Hopefully you will have some clarity soon.

My cycles are regular 27 days, but when I first stopped taking the pill in May my cycles went like this: 24, 26, 27, 29, 24! Then after that finally went to 27 and stayed there.

It could also be an implantation bleed, in which case you wouldn't get a positive test for 2-4 days after today.

vitahelp · 20/03/2023 14:39

@TurnLeftAtTheBakery Are you testing with OPKs? Do you see any line progression at all? Are you also temp charting?
If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been TTC? I'm only asking, because at a certain point you would be entitled to blood tests via NHS which would help confirm if you are ovulating by checking progesterone levels at approx CD21.

TurnLeftAtTheBakery · 20/03/2023 14:44

@vitahelp thanks for the reply. I am going to be temping but hadn't before. My basal thermometer arrives today. We've been trying for 4 months, which isn't long but obviously, if there's no ovulation there's no chance so I might try another month with temp charting and more tests - yes been using OPKs. If there's another month with no ovulation detected then I'll contact the GP.

vitahelp · 20/03/2023 15:14

@TurnLeftAtTheBakery That's good that you're going to start temping, hopefully that will help confirm if ovulation is happening as there should be a pattern in your cycle.

Muriel84 · 20/03/2023 17:36

@vitahelp thanks for replying! I just had one episode of light bleeding this morning. Now just slight brown tinge to discharge. I have issues with implantation cos my uterus is heart shaped. Maybe that’s what’s going on.

I just took the mini pill for 6 months to try and make my periods lighter. I came off it in January so not long ago at all. I was very lucky when I came off it 3 years ago I went straight into regular cycles. I’d been on it for 20 years! But yeah I’m 38 now so maybe it is the pill making things weird. Who knows! Glad your cycles have settled now xxx

Eirlys1986 · 20/03/2023 18:11

@Muriel84 I’m also thinking could be an implantation bleed for you? Testing in 2-3 days will tell if no proper bleed now comes! Fingers crossed

Eirlys1986 · 20/03/2023 20:00

@vitahelp , I imagine if I have to wait a long time for a positive result I shall also calm on the testing front. I’m sorry that trying for the 12 months has somewhat taken the joy out of testing for you though 😔

vitahelp · 21/03/2023 07:46

10dpo today and feel very normal. The achy feeling I had is gone now and I've just got a feeling I'm not pregnant. Basically waiting for AF to arrive now...due Saturday.

@Muriel84 How are you feeling today? Have you had any more bleeding?

@Eirlys1986 I do miss the days when it was exciting to test, now it feels more like a negative thing that I try to avoid. Hopefully you will get pregnant way before you get to the point I'm at. How are you feeling today?

Eirlys1986 · 21/03/2023 07:59

@vitahelp ok thanks, quite crampy last 24 hours. Unsure if just period on the way or IBS or hopefully something else! Time will tell

Muriel84 · 21/03/2023 08:10

@vitahelp i had another episode of dark red when I wiped last night (soz tmi) otherwise just brown tinge to discharge. God knows. Thanks for asking tho. I can’t face talking about ttc with friends/family, so it’s really nice being able
to chat here.

is AF due this weekend? Mines due Friday. I still feel a bit nauseated but with all three pregnancies I’ve had this weird indigestion by now which I don’t have today. Must be a few of us due on the same time… xxx

CaffeineAndCrochet · 21/03/2023 10:40

I've never been so happy as to see AF. A very confused DH heard me shout 'yay!' in the bathroom this morning. My cycle had got messed up thanks to the Pregnacare vitamins but it seems to be back to normal now - the Premom app predicted today as CD1 based on BBT and some LH testing.

This will technically be cycle 3, but I feel like I didn't get a fair go of things in the first two so it feels like the first real cycle.

overthinkersanonnymus · 21/03/2023 10:58

Hey girls, please can I join?

I'm 4dpo on cycle number 7 but only managed to DTD once in my window so I'm not really counting this cycle as a real one 😂

I'm 35 (very soon to be 36 😕) DP is 34, ttc baby number 1

It is nice to have people on here to discuss ttc with isn’t it? I definitely never discuss with friends or family. I am due AF Saturday Sunday so similar time to yourself. Managed to resist a test today so far 😂 ….only because I have none and am trapped in work

Eirlys1986 · 21/03/2023 11:38

@overthinkersanonnymus hello 👋, I have also only DTD once in fertile window this month but once is all it takes I say so fingers crossed! You never know!
