2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

Definitely CD1 for me. Onwards and upwards

Yes I'm impatient to move onto the next cycle also! Just got faint brown spotting at the moment for the last couple of days....

I ordered ubiquinol and Proceive to try to help this cycle with egg and sperm quality. We've been pretty stressed- living with relatives, house renovation, full on for moth of us at work, lots of sickness and days off nurseries, and now a terribly jet lagged baby that has suddenly stopped sleeping through and is up all night

sounds pretty rubbishy on the stress front for you as you say! Great idea to do the proceive. With my first baby we had been trying 6 months or so then first month I took that we got pregnant. However, I think they do say taking it 3 months prior to conception may be needed but that’s likely a £££ ploy. Do you think the brown spotting could be implantation or too heavy for this?

vitahelp · 17/03/2023 12:58

@Eirlys1986 My DH had a wobble in the early stages of TTC. We already have a DD age 4 and both agreed we wanted another, but a few months into trying he went into a panic mode. I thought he had changed his mind about having 2 kids but thankfully after talking it through over the course of a few days he felt a lot better.

vitahelp · 17/03/2023 13:04

6 dpo here. this is my 12th cycle TTC (but only 10 months) so feels like a bit of a milestone as it sort of represents a year of trying. I'm not sure our timing was great this cycle so not really got my hopes up, but I always get a little buzz of excitement when I head towards week 2 of the 2ww and think that I could be getting a bfp this time next week.

Ahh it’s so exciting isn’t it?! I am only on cycle one of TTC number 2 but immediately on starting to try began to feel excited about buying tests and maybe getting a positive one day. My fingers and toes are crossed for you! Thanks so much for your earlier comment to me too and sharing about your husbands “wobble”! I just think I kind of know that once I hopefully do get pregnant with number two when we go through tough times with number one whilst I’m pregnant, my partner may be a bit prone to getting stressed out as to how we will cope with two!( not saying I also won’t do this, I’m sure I shall)

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/03/2023 13:57

@Eirlys1986 I think the issue is having had one already, we all know how tough it is !! Rather than going in naively.

No I don't think it's implantation, fairly sure my period is coming. Think spotting a little means my hormones are off, which they could be as I only gave up breastfeeding recently.

@vitahelp twelve cycles is a tough milestone, how're you feeling?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/03/2023 13:58

@Eirlys1986 thanks for the positive recommendation on the Proceive front also, that's great news!'

Eirlys1986 · 17/03/2023 14:33

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 thought given the price of the stuff it might be nice to know it may actually be helpful! 😂. Sorry to hear you are pretty certain AF is about to say hello. I am still BF my 17 month old now so who knows what effect that’s going to have on everything hormonally for me!

Mummyme87 · 17/03/2023 16:07

Fingers crossed @vitahelp I’m about cycle 21 or 22, lost count. Really disheartening

Similar here. We’re onto cycle 14 having started trying January 2022. I found 12 months a bit tricky. I guess I’m still surprised we’re struggling with this & assumed it would be easy.

I love 2DPO because you’ve done all you can and there’s that wonderful hope.

Bumblebee413 · 17/03/2023 22:17

So, DH is back in 2 weeks for two weeks. I'm on cycle day 28, hoping that this is one of my shorter cycles rather than a 6 week special. But then it won't change anything will it? The timing just is what it is. Looking forward to waiting with you ladies and joining in. Definitely moving from worry to anticipation. Sending lots of love to all x

vitahelp · 17/03/2023 22:20

@Eirlys1986 Our husbands sound quite similar in that respect, I’m definitely a lot more laid back when things get tough at home, whereas he does get a bit more stressed and worked up. So it makes sense why he felt a bit more hesitant than me about having baby 2!

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 It has felt a bit hard although a lot of it these days is like water off a ducks back, I’m definitely a lot more resilient than I was in the first 6 months.

@Mummyme87 I’m sorry you’ve been trying for so long. It a difficult journey isn’t it. Are you trying for your first child?

@FiddleLeaf I’m surprised by it too. We already have a child and fell pregnant first cycle then (5 years ago). Although we are older now we are very into health and fitness, I just didn’t think the 5 years would make such a difference for us. I realise I was being naive now and thinking the normal rules wouldn’t apply to me. I think I’m in the hopeful phase at the moment, I got a very sharp pain down there earlier out of nowhere and my mind went to implantation..dangerous thoughts!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/03/2023 22:52

@Mummyme87 and @FiddleLeaf really sorry, it is a difficult journey. Have you had any tests?

@vitahelp it is so hard to tell though if it's age or just luck each month. I fell pregnant first cycle at 36 and miscarried, then took months to get pregnant again. Even though I was pretty much the same age as I continued trying straight away. It's really rubbish seeing negative tests each month after hoping in the two weeks wait

Mummyme87 · 18/03/2023 00:59

@vitahelp no, this will be number 3. Had no issues either time

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes, scan normal, all bloods normal. Only thing that’s off is progesterone which would indicate I’m not ovulating. However that was last year. Since October I’ve had ovulation symptoms so think things may have kick started. I’m blaming covid infection and vaccine for ovulation being affected

wholerhubarbcustard · 18/03/2023 09:38

Hi ladies hope you are all well Smile. I'm out this month got af yesterday bang on 28days, I'm usually 30+ day cycles...is having all this regular sex making af more regular Shock

Thanks. Yes, we’ve had every test possible through private and NHS. I also had a hyfosy last month and the doc said that would improve our chances 🤞🏻 All tests are been average or above average (in a positive way).

We’ve decided to try for 2 more cycles and then we’ll try IVF privately. I’m too old in my area for NHS 😭

Muriel84 · 18/03/2023 19:37

Hi @Muriel84 well done for lasting to 8dpo before testing, I tested on 5 and 6dpo (this morning) like a totally crazy woman 🙄 😆. So pointless so I just don’t know why I can’t stop myself doing it. I felt very tired last night but that is likely life with a toddler as you say! 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 18/03/2023 21:16

@Muriel84 I'm 6dpo today and still feel normal. I'm trying to distract myself with chores and little projects around the house. Plus Saturday is toddler football day so that's always fun 😂 My son just likes the running part 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sounds like you've been having a tough time of it lately! My Dad was very ill when I was TTC my son, I'm convinced it took longer because of this.

It Starts With the Egg explains eggs take 3-4 months to develop, which is why companies recommend taking supplements at least 3 months in advance of TTC. This is why I'm popping pills already - just in case it helps egg quality.

I'm really intrigued by Proceive! I just take Pregnacare conception and a very low dose of Ubiquinol at the moment. Best of luck!!

TheBirdintheCave · 18/03/2023 21:53

@LeopardLover Sorry to hear your dad was ill :( Mine was too (relapsed Leukaemia) whilst we were TTC our son.

LeopardLover · 18/03/2023 21:58

@TheBirdintheCave Oh I'm sorry to hear about your Dad too! 😔 Thank you. It makes sense but there are just so many factors involved in conception other than just egg / sperm health. I also had a (physically) traumatic birth and my son needed to see the Osteopath weekly... I remember her asking lots of questions about stress during pregnancy - I guess there's a lot we don't understand (if you buy into that - which I do)!

Muriel84 · 19/03/2023 18:05

@Eirlys1986 oh that makes me feel better for poas! Thanks! 🤣

@TheBirdintheCave toddler football sounds amazing… I feel bad mine is missing out on this!

I think I must be out this month. Very crampy today and had some brown discharge. 9dpo I think. Felt quite nauseated this morning but often feel sick. My periods are usually 28 days to the day. I think it’s too much to be implantation tho and with my DS I had brown discharge way later like week 5/6. Ho hum. X

Eirlys1986 · 19/03/2023 18:35

@Muriel84 ….and I did it again this morning! 😂 not sure my bank balance can take this second pregnancy attempt

Muriel84 · 19/03/2023 18:39

@Eirlys1986 😂 so did I 🙈 what are you using? I’m using clear and simple early tests from savers so not spending too much… yet… x
