2023 TTC 35+

VixFromThe6ix · 24/02/2023 01:42

Hi everyone!!
Wanted to start another group thread for those TTC that are 35+.
When I was first trying, this group helped me a lot. We bonded and went through pains and celebrations together. I had two MCs over 2yrs of trying and lots of crying as I was typing many of my posts. Support helped... Especially at this age.
I had my first baby Jan 2022 and here we are now trying for baby #2.
I'll be 40 this summer!!!
Join me and share your story ☺️

Welcome newcomers!

9DPO today and feel totally normal but caved on the weekly shop & got some cheapy supermarket early tests. Might give one a go tomorrow morn.

Poppy708 · 11/03/2023 14:54

Thank you @VixFromThe6ix I’m so pleased I’ve decided to join and share. Having read through the threats it all feels so supportive and such a safe space to be able to offload and be honest about how we feel. sending positive vibes to you all ✨

I’ve finally got a flashy smiley face on the clearblue ovulation test this morning after a good while of seeing the blank circle. Never sure how accurate they are but we’ll see.

Poppy708 · 11/03/2023 14:55

Fingers crossed for you @FiddleLeaf

Mummyme87 · 11/03/2023 15:10

7dpo, done progesterone bloods at work today but sent off as routine so probably won’t get a result gahhhh.
Just want to see if I’ve ovulated.

I'm 9dpo too! I've already tested lol I'm so weak Ugh. I got a positive in my last pregnancy at 9dpo but this one is stark white lol I also don't feel anything (just crankiness lol which is my main PMS symptom) so I'm likely out this cycle. But if course I'll try to test again cause I'm addicted 😹
Goodluck testing tomorrow!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Poppy708 one of the reasons I use easy at home sticks is because there is a clear visual. The whole blinking vs static smiley would drive me crazy 🤣

Aww @Freya8 I'm sorry! Leave a few days and do another? I have had spotting today and yesterday, not full on AF and only when I wipe, not on the pad. (Sorry too much info).
Either way this is what I normally get before AF, so assumed I'm out. However a small part of me, here about people having light periods and still being pregnant. I'm driving myself nuts!
I had mad cramping yesterday and nothing now. I just don't know what's going on. Xxx

Haha good luck on your next test too!

I might even have a glass of wine tonight I’m that sure I’m out.

When I was pregnant before I had very clear symptoms from 6DPO (heartburn, boobs up to my chin, breathlessness, clumsiness, knackered) so I’m expecting that again.

Am I stupid for hoping that its not AF? I even did a test this morning (10DPO) but stark white. Maybe I'm just stupid and need to face facts..
Researching fertility clinics near for IVF, worried about how long it all takes and not having age on side. I know nothing about IVF and sounds like a mindfield😔 xxx

Freya8 · 11/03/2023 17:26

@Floralsandsmiles i think your panicking as i would too and start jumping away ahead of urself. for the min i think we both need to take one day at a time. Not gonna lie seeing a stark white bfn is a tuff kick in the nads. Agree ivf is a minefield i dont know where ppl even begin. I know friends who have took some tabs before to kick ov off an got a scan to confirm but im truely clueless. I dont think its a thing me an my hubby will do jus as wen we discussed it all i think we would admit defeat however that all cud change on this journey. For now we arent out yet xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 11/03/2023 17:32

@Floralsandsmiles Once you choose a clinic it all goes really smoothly :) At least it has for us so far. The only things that have set us back are some delayed paperwork and my own body 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

@Freya8 yeah I know I probably am.. I just feel so low and don't understand what is going on!
I have my scan booked for next Wednesday and bloods I will book for 7 days after next ovulation. DH is booked in for semen analysis too.
Then I guess access when we know what's wrong.. whether that be meds, or IVF. Xxx

Hi, @TheBirdintheCave ! Thank you so much for your insight. If you wouldn't mind, I have a few questions?
I am getting the NHS to do my bloods and a scan and DH semen analysis. Then if its something medical, get medicine. If not will look at iVF, found one local.
The clinics website said that if tests have been done recently and they can have a copy, they won't have to do them again..
But have IVF down as £5-6k cost? Is that about normal? Say 3 eggs were extracted, is one round of IVF including 3 tries with the 3 eggs? Or is that each? Xxx

Welcome new people!

I don't think I'm pregnant but have had awful bloating from almost ovulation - look six months pregnant levels of bloating. I can only thing it's hormones being all over the place from stopping breastfeeding - has anyone else had this?

I really recommend the Alex Jones show on the UKTV tv app. I’ve been thinking if we’re not pregnant in 3 months we’ll be taking that route and it’s taken all the mystery out. Really hopeful but honest and interesting show.

I’m the same today. Really bloated but I can’t remember if it’s been since ovulation. I’ve eaten a very gut friendly dinner & have similar planned for breakfast to see if that helps

TheBirdintheCave · 11/03/2023 20:53

@Floralsandsmiles It depends on the clinic. Some offer packages which include one fresh cycle and as many frozen cycles as are possible following that. My clinic charges £4k (not including meds, the cost of which varies per person) for one fresh cycle only which includes egg collection and one embryo transfer. The full list of what the price includes should be on the price breakdown list :)

@FiddleLeaf just found them. Making babies? The special? Or all of them? Xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 11/03/2023 20:54

@FiddleLeaf @Floralsandsmiles That's filmed at King's which is the clinic we go to :)

Making Babies first. I’ve just watched the special and it’s an update on the couples.

Enjoy! I’m so pleased I found it.

I was thinking of using that clinic because they seem fantastic. Love the main doc.

How have you found them?

OK thank you @TheBirdintheCave ! What do you do with the other eggs? Have you frozen them? And then I'm assuming a cost for that and then for any IVF attempt after that with one of your frozen eggs? Which hospital is this? Amazing it's the same hospital as the show! Xxx
