May I join?

Been trying for 2+ years. Today is another failure (AF decided to show her ugly face).
I can't say I've tried religiously as my partner and I have conflicting schedules and some months we don't try at all.

Still though, I'm fed up of not getting anywhere so I'll be making an appointment with the doctor to see if there's anything more going on and see what options we have.

Wishing baby dust to all x 👶🏼✨

Tinkerbell098 · 05/04/2022 11:29

@Carla2601 amazing! Well done for getting through them all. How many days in total were you on stims? Enjoy the jab free day and all the best for tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you xx

Carla2601 · 05/04/2022 13:38

@Tinkerbell098 so in total 12 days so not too bad at all! I’ll be in the office till 10 in order to quietly be missing tomorrow so not quite the fun night of freedom I had planned haha.

How are you?

NatW2021 · 05/04/2022 13:41

@Carla2601 - thats great news! I am glad you are finding the process is going smoothly, what are your next steps?

@Pineappletarts - great news on you LP, hopefully will help things along 😊 hope the Hycosy goes well next week.

I am 9dpo and starting to get twinges and my BBT is looking pretty standard to all the other months so no doubt another cycle on the bed post! I suppose on a positive note i got my appointment through foe the NHS fertility clinic today, its in 3 weeks time, not sure what will happen initially but hoping i can get booked in for some repeat/further bloods tests/hycosy but just got a feeling they will tell me to lose weight which i am really going to try now im in the system

Pineappletarts · 05/04/2022 13:51

Thanks @Carla2601 and well done on your injections so far 💪 Thank you @NatW2021 too! I also have an NHS referral at end of month but as I already have a DC they are unlikely to do much I think :-/ Best of luck with yours and yes being proactive and trying to get into shape can only help us I think, plus good mentally too x

Tinkerbell098 · 05/04/2022 13:58

@Carla2601 12 days don't seem bad at all! Hope work is not too stressful and will help keep things off your mind for a bit. Are you taking the whole day off tomorrow?

@NatW2021 that's great news your appointment has come through. How long have you had to wait to hear back? I wonder if it's just my area that is extremely bad in terms of backlogs and giving appointments. I can't even ring the clinic as the phone number is either always busy or puts me through to voicemail and they never call back even if you leave messages. So annoying!

NatW2021 · 05/04/2022 14:12

@Pineappletarts - thanks 😊 they maybe able to do everything other than ivf so definitely worth a go.

@Tinkerbell098 - 4 months - not long, i was expecting longer so a nice surprise this morning. I think i am glad to just get some specialist advice and support as i haven't really done that yet and also just to get in the system and get the ball rolling. Hopefully this will give me the kick up the bum to lose this weight, if AF shows on monday i am booking my holiday so at least there is something to look forward to! X

Tinkerbell098 · 05/04/2022 14:22

@NatW2021 4 months isn't bad at all. It's now been 8 months since referral for me and still nothing! I was told it'll take a year. I'm also in the process of trying to lose some weight. The pandemic hasn't been good for me as I've been WFH for over two years now, so very limited movement. I've started gym now so have been going about 3-4 times a week. At least it's something else to focus on other than TTC. We've also booked a holiday in just over two weeks time and really looking forward to it :)

NatW2021 · 05/04/2022 18:36

@Tinkerbell098 - i know i was shocked just hope its not long waiting times for consultation as the first appointment is with.a nurse. A year seems a long time, so frustrating! Are you waiting on a follow up for IVF?

How is the gym going? I WFH aswell but actually been eating better as there isnt a vending machine to hand but also put weight on over lockdown.

Bet you cant wait for your hols! I am really looking forward to lying on a beach for two weeks x

lemons44 · 05/04/2022 19:42

Hope your collection goes well @Carla2601

Glad you're feeling better today @BritInNZ

In my fertile window here. Keeping everything crossed that cycle number 12 is our lucky one.

For the ladies who have had scans done as part of the initial fertility tests, can I please ask some questions?

We have our fertility tests booked the day before my AF arrives. I'm a bit worried I may be spotting by then.. or even have AF if it arrives a day early. Do you think this would cause an issue (aside from me feeling a bit embarrassed?)

Also I have booked this initial fertility testing package but to be honest I don't really understand what the scan is for 😂 is it just checking for cysts?

lemons44 · 05/04/2022 19:43

And welcome @KatieLooLa Smile

lemons44 · 05/04/2022 19:44

Sorry I really didn't make it clear in my post that I am referring to the scan 🙈 the receptionist said it's an internal one

Carla2601 · 05/04/2022 20:17

@lemons44 my understanding (which is limited) is that it doesn’t matter where in your cycle you are - I had to have mine on cycle day 2 (grim!!) they just want to see baseline number of follicles (it’s similar to AMH) which I guess are there the whole time because they just grow whenever - don’t get FSH then go to waste because they aren’t the chosen egg that month (you produce loads all the time but your body picks one).

I’ve had 6 of them as part of my treatment and it doesn’t hurt or anything so try not to worry too much on that front - less bad than a smear for sure

Carla2601 · 05/04/2022 20:19

@Tinkerbell098 with the NHS contact PALS from the hospital you’ve been referred to and complain - also send emails and be clear the mental toll it’s taking on you. Mines also really slow but those things have helped.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. The harvest festival (as I’m calling it to make it sound jolly) is the next step and I’ll be up at 5am making my way through London so send me good vibes over brekkie 😂

NatW2021 · 05/04/2022 20:31

@Carla2601 - sorry misses your earlier post! Good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you 💗 xx

BritInNZ · 06/04/2022 05:13

@Carla2601 is 4.10pm here so 5.10am there - hope you're enjoying your brekky and good luck for the harvest festival!!! Let us know how it goes!

@Carla2601 THINKING OF YOU TODAY! Hoping everything goes well. 💕

Carla2601 · 06/04/2022 07:13

@BritInNZ @FlyOnTheWall89 @NatW2021

TYSM for your lovely messages - just at the hospital waiting to go on. I’ll send you and update on the process later….hopefully it’s as smooth as the other bits have been.

Hope you all have lovely days. Baby dust as always x

lemons44 · 06/04/2022 08:17

Hope all is going well @Carla2601

Also the Harvest Festival really made me laugh! I have this image of you wearing a stereotypical farmers check shirt and straw hat whilst it's being done

Let us know how it goes

Tinkerbell098 · 06/04/2022 13:11

@Carla2601 thinking of you lovely!! Hope it all went smoothly and you've got a nice relaxing evening planned xxx

Carla2601 · 06/04/2022 14:52

@lemons44 haha ikr! I didn’t wake up to lots of tinned goods and baked bread but you can’t win them all! 😂.

@Tinkerbell098 tysm!

All it was totally fine - I have no pain, no bleeding and no drowsiness, honestly felt like I could have gone to the office (don’t worry I didn’t) but wanted to share in case anyone else goes this route, hoping to reduce some of the anxiety around it. And I PROMISE I’m not sugar coating I’m being completely honest. To now it’s been really straightforward and not even a tenth as bad as I was expecting.

In other good news, I got 15 eggs!!! So many more than I was hoping for. So I had a relieved cry about that and I feel really happy with the result. Of course they might not be mature/fertilise/make it to day 5 so there’s a long way to go but it’s absolutely the best outcome I could have hoped for so I’m relaxing on the sofa watching MAFS Australia and Below Deck and sending positive fertilisation dust to my little crew in the lab.

Thank you all again - you’ve really really helped me and your messages really made me feel good and made me less nervous x

Tinkerbell098 · 06/04/2022 14:56

@Carla2601 woo! Such amazing news! 15 is like the perfect number. Are you transferring this cycle? When is the next update? So pleased for you and enjoy the rest of the day. Well done you!!

Carla2601 · 06/04/2022 15:27

@Tinkerbell098 I read that but they told me I only had two big follicles on my left ovary….and 7 on my right. Turned out there were 8 on the left! So I didn’t dare to hope for more than 10. I really don’t think I did anything (my nurse said it really doesn’t matter it’s down to the drugs and how your body reacts so if it didn’t go well for anyone it wouldn’t be anything they did or didn’t do).

So tomorrow I find out how many are mature and how many fertilised and then they incubate till Saturday and I get an update on how many made it to day 3 then hopefully transfer on Monday if any of the team can make it till then (hoping more than anything that at least one will stick around for us!).

I’ll give you progress updates and also report back on the pessaries (the bit I’m dreading the most 😂😂)

FlyOnTheWall89 · 06/04/2022 15:53

Omg @Carla2601 this is the best news. How exciting for you. I am thrilled. What a great number and I'll keep everything crossed that you get a good fertilisation rate. So pleased it's not painful. Rest and relax. You've done amazingly.

We saw Dr Ramsay! He was actually very positive which was nice to hear. He said plenty of people get pregnant with our numbers. He will help us build a suitable timeline. Debriefing with my OH tonight as he had to dash back to work. He suggested what I presume he suggests to everyone: ultrasound, various other tests etc. He said we need more info before planning a timeline because we need to balance the waiting with my AMH and the fact this is only baby #1. Hoping that maybe maybe the HSG might help. It's booked for the beginning of next cycle.

Carla2601 · 06/04/2022 16:18

@FlyOnTheWall89 that’s brilliant! I’m so glad it went well - he’s great isn’t he. He’s also really honest I think so if he says it it will be right I’m sure which is really exciting for you! Are you feeling positive? Sounds like a really sensible set of next steps and look forward to hearing more about your plan.

Tysm - I’m so thrilled, I still can’t believe it. I’m glad they’re all in there together I feel weirdly attached already and keep thinking i hope they’re doing ok! Haha.
