Clomid success stories

Hey everyone,

My husband and I have been TTC for 5 years and have recently been put on clomid - we're on our second cycle at the moment.
Ive had bloods done and they came back with high prolactin results so the doctors prescribed me with bromocriptine which has been working to normalise my levels. My DH has had his swimmers tested and the results came back with slightly low count but the doctor told us it's nothing to worry about.
Our official diagnosis is 'unexplained infertility' and we've been sent away with 6 months worth of clomid.

Just wanted to know if anyone is in a similar boat or if anyone else is on clomid at the moment?

@Kay00 well I've had my scan and I'm
None the wiser 😂 my ovaries are once again playing a game of hide and seek and though she just managed to locate the right one (which wasn't easy and in a very awkward position) she could just about make out one follicle 12mm she said there could be others but she couldn't see and couldn't see the left at all so it's just a guessing game as to if it's working or not!

My clomid success story turns 24 later this month - I can't quite believe it after all that upset he caused us way back then. We were in a similar situation - months of trying then to be told I had PCOS and DH's sperm had low motility was very difficult to deal with. I got pregnant on my 6th attempt, thankfully.
Good luck to everyone trying - it's not an easy time I know.

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 16:45

@SirChenjins thank you so much for sharing. It's lovely to hear the success stories

SirChenjins · 02/11/2021 17:57

You’re welcome Smile I’m aware success stories are not always what you want to hear when you’re going through fertility treatment so I’m sorry if I’ve upset anyone, and I wish you all positive outcomes.

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 18:21

@SirChenjins it definitely give me hope so thank you

PCOSWarrior · 02/11/2021 18:26

@SirChenjins That is so lovely and definitely encourages me to keep trying right through the full six cycles! Xx

SirChenjins · 02/11/2021 19:25

Ahh I’m glad Smile Fingers crossed for all of you!

Kay00 · 02/11/2021 22:11

@sirchenjins I love hearing the success stories. Esp that you were successful on a later Clomid cycle, as failing the first one has made me feel like none of them will work (ever the optimist lol).

@marvellouslymadmum oh! So they don't have a scanny machine that can find them? Have they moved or were they hidden previously? 🤔 hopefully you have responded perfectly to the Clomid, even if you can't tell xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/11/2021 09:07

@Kay00 I had an ultrasound and tv ultrasound and she couldn't find them properly on either, this is the second scan I've had and last time they couldn't find them at all, said I have very excess bowel gas - bloating which I always get due to the endo so I've got to try and get rid of that somehow. But that was my only scan so it's just guess work 🤷🏼‍♀️

Kay00 · 03/11/2021 14:56

@Marvellouslymadmum madness! Did they give you any idea how you get rid of the bloating? Is your bloating effected by foods you eat, or just by the endo?

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/11/2021 20:56

@Kay00 not really I did try talking to her and said is it just peppermint tea to help and she said yes 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I've been drinking that and just trying to cut down on any food and drink that may cause it but I don't really know what causes it apart from the endo there's no way to tell!

PCOSWarrior · 13/11/2021 11:18

Hi all, I hope you're having good luck and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for BFPs!
I'd really like some advise if you have any, surrounding DTD at the right time.
My OH is an incredibly anxious person and we're really struggling to have successful sex at the right times.
Last month I put it down to first time nerves and my own excitement pressuring him a bit. So this month I have deliberately played it cool, but we're having the same issue again. He knows this is the fertile window and even though I'm not making a big deal of it, his anxiety is causing havoc with his body and we're just not getting there.
And the awful thing is I am so angry. I'm so so angry with him. I know it isn't his fault and I'm trying to be kind and gentle but we really don't have time for this shit and I don't know what else I can do.
I've been keeping it fun and light and not talking about baby making.
I've tried different times of day and been encouraging and patient.
Has anyone else's partner been through this? Any tips on how he can overcome it? We've wasted two cycles and I'm really worried. Currently having a little secret cry because I'm so frustrated.
He is such a good guy, he doesn't deserve this stress and heartache and I don't either. I'm just at a loss for how to help us.

Kay00 · 13/11/2021 12:10

My OH never knows when my fertile period is. I keep it on the low down because he finds thinking about TTC off-putting. We talk about baby stuff at other times but I tend to keep my cycle stuff to myself.

Instead when the time is near I exaggerate how turned on I am/tell him I'm wet or something as that tends to get him in the right mood. So far we haven't missed a month of trying in 17 months! 😁Unfortunately not pregnant yet though 😒

Marvellouslymadmum · 13/11/2021 22:40

@PCOSWarrior my oh is also very anxious all the time, so I rarely tell him anything about when is the fw and just make sure I'm getting him in the mood at the right times particularly as well as other times so it throws him off the scent 😂 works though!

PCOSWarrior · 15/11/2021 14:17

@Kay00 and @Marvellouslymadmum
Thanks so much guys Smile
I think I was experiencing the perfect storm of hormones and feeling panicked by the date and the symptoms of ovulation and probably made a bigger deal of it than I needed too.
I do tend to tell my OH everything, and even when I speifically don't, he is pretty atuned so can figure it out. I just don't think I have any game face! haha! I think I'm being really slick and discrete but I'm probably not.

Last month I had no emotional side-effects at all but this month I've been all over the place pretty much since the second day of taking Clomid.

Fingers crossed for a gentler month next month!!

How are you both getting on? xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 17/11/2021 10:32

@PCOSWarrior our hormones wreak havoc as well as the clomid! I think im about to ovulate now cd26 and the consultants secretary has given me an extra blood form so I can get a proper day 21 done. I think hot flushes are in full swing the last week or so I get all boiling all of a sudden then it's gone and I'm cold again then hot again 😂 apart from that and bloating no real side effects here

PCOSWarrior · 17/11/2021 10:48

@Marvellouslymadmum Oh! Yay!! C'mon little follicle - you can do it!! I'm glad they're willing to offer you another blood test too.

Ugh! Hot flushes are grim! I didn't have so many this month but when they strike, the sweatiness is real!! Haha!

I was such a raging ball of hormones and angst on Saturday - everything felt like it was falling apart and terrible and the end of the world. Since Sunday I've been back to my usual self and feeling optimistic and relaxed about stuff. CD 3/4 and determined not to test until CD 14/15 this month.

I might take a month off in December if this month is another BFN. I don't want to risk feeling so low and anxious over Christmas. It's our first one in our new house and I don't want to accidentally spoil it.

Marvellouslymadmum · 17/11/2021 11:09

@PCOSWarrior I'm not really hopeful for this month as I'm ovulating so late but hey ho. I thought the hot flushes would come when I was taking the tablets not after lol

Good luck for this month!

PCOSWarrior · 26/11/2021 07:52

Hi all, how are you getting on?

I have news ... This morning I got my BFP! Well ... It's more like a LFP (Little Faint Positive) but it is definitely there! It is still early, I am 12dpo, so perhaps too early to get my hopes up but I am hoping the line will get darker over the next few days and little bean will hang on in there.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 26/11/2021 08:16

@PCOSWarrior Congratulations! Were you on clomid?

Can I ask, what were the general reasons / tests pre being put on clomid? My understanding is that it is when you are not regularly ovulating but how did they doctors come to that conclusion? I am thinking maybe I don't regularly ovulate.

PCOSWarrior · 26/11/2021 08:32

Hi @FlyOnTheWall89 yes, it was my second month of 50mg Clomid and 1g Metformin.
I have PCOS and don't ovulate regularly on my own. The doctors came to that conclusion because my cycles fluctuated so much (31 - 1111) days. Also my AMH level is very high at 97.2 which can be an indicator of anovulation.

Marvellouslymadmum · 26/11/2021 08:35

@PCOSWarrior that's great news congratulations!! So pleased someone on clomid is getting a positive result

Noshowlomo · 26/11/2021 08:57

My clomid success is 3 in March!
Happened on my second round. DTD every other day and also used pre-seed.
Clomid has huge successes ☺️

Kay00 · 26/11/2021 13:17

@PCOSWarrior and @Noshowlomo huge congratulations!!

Its so good to hear positive stories! @pcoswarrior, I had very irregular cycles and a high AML level, so your success is giving me hope.

I'm about to ovulate (CD15) on my 3rd cycle of Clomid. I have DTD every other day, and used Pre-seed today. I'm away from my OH for the next few days, so I hope I ovulate today/tomorrow. My OPK was 65% this morning. Hope we don't have a wasted cycle on our hands!

PCOSWarrior · 26/11/2021 14:31

@Kay00 Thank you 🤞🤞

Ah! Good luck! I hope this is a successful month for you! I used pre-Seed too and maybe that is what made the difference this month!?
