Hey everyone,

My husband and I have been TTC for 5 years and have recently been put on clomid - we're on our second cycle at the moment.
Ive had bloods done and they came back with high prolactin results so the doctors prescribed me with bromocriptine which has been working to normalise my levels. My DH has had his swimmers tested and the results came back with slightly low count but the doctor told us it's nothing to worry about.
Our official diagnosis is 'unexplained infertility' and we've been sent away with 6 months worth of clomid.

Just wanted to know if anyone is in a similar boat or if anyone else is on clomid at the moment?

I have 2 dc thanks to clomid now aged 6 and 9. My first go was successful on round three, and second time on round one.

Marvellouslymadmum · 20/10/2021 16:29

@PCOSWarrior yes I've heard that! I can never work out which day is cd1 if af arrived later on in the day so I think for me if it arrives evening time I'll take them the next evening and if it arrives in the day I'll take it the next day and hope for the best!

@Bimblybomeyelash that's amazing to know thank you! Do you mind me asking the reason for you being given the clomid? (Trying to give myself hope that it'll work for me lol)

PCOSWarrior · 20/10/2021 16:35

@Marvellouslymadmum when the nurse explained it to me, she said that day one is the first day you have proper flow, not just spotting or trace bleeding. Because mine came on very heavy at around 11pm on 29th September and I only tend to bleed for 3-4 days, I still counted that as CD1 and began taking Clomid at around 11pm on 30th.
I don't think it has to be perfect, just our best effort 🙂 xx

My clomid success story is nearly 4 now. It took 6 cycles to get pregnant, luckily I didn’t experience much by way of side effects. For me I didn’t ovulate due to PCOS, clomid forced ovulation so that I could get pregnant. Good luck to you all.

Marvellouslymadmum · 20/10/2021 17:06

@PCOSWarrior that sounds similar to mine only a few days but super heavy so that's what my plan was too!

@RobinPenguins that's lovely to hear! Thank you so much for sharing

Bimblybomeyelash · 20/10/2021 23:07

@Marvellouslymadmum. I was prescribed clomid due to PCOS. I wasn’t really ovulating without it.

Kay00 · 21/10/2021 20:46

Hi ladies!

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Clomid. My first was 50mg days 2-6, but I over stimulated (3 x large follicles). We were advised not to try, but we did anyway but didn't get pregnant anyway.

This time I'm taking 25mg days 2-6. I'm currently on CD10 and have my scan on Monday (CD14).

I was prescribed Clomid because my AMH levels were super high and my consultant assumed that meant I haven't been ovulating 😑🙃

katienana · 21/10/2021 20:50

My mum took Clomid to have me back in 1983. Fingers crossed for you all Flowers

Marvellouslymadmum · 21/10/2021 21:15

@Bimblybomeyelash ahh that makes sense, thank you

@Kay00 hi! I would've had a go anyway too! Seems a bit lazy to just assume you weren't ovulating, didn't they check anything? I know a high amh can indicate pcos but still

Marvellouslymadmum · 21/10/2021 21:17

@katienana thank you for sharing!

Af arrived tonight at 8pm so I'm thinking if I take my clomid tomorrow evening that should be cd2 what do you guys think?

PCOSWarrior · 21/10/2021 22:04

@Kay00 Ah! I have very high AMH levels too (97.2 or something crazy like that!) Has your doctor prescribed Metformin and Clomid? I think some studies have shown that Metformin can help aleviate high AMH - especially if it is linked to PCOS.

@Marvellouslymadmum I think that sounds like the perfect plan! Good luck!!! I don't know how to do the baby dust emoji, but here are some flowers! Flowers

Kay00 · 21/10/2021 22:21

@pcosWarrior ooh that's interesting. Yes, I have been prescribed Metformin too, I've been on it for a few months now and it isn't has bad as I was expecting 😊

@marvellouslymadmum the consultant said to me that cycle day 1 was the 1st day where you bleed before midday. So if AF started this afternoon/evening then tomorrow will be CD1.

Marvellouslymadmum · 21/10/2021 22:21

@PCOSWarrior I think I'll go with that plan! Have to call tomorrow to get my scan booked in too! Thanks for the flowers I've no idea about the baby dust emoji lol

Herewiththepopcorn · 26/10/2021 22:14

For me I was prescribed Clomid 50mg, worked amazing the first time one nice big follicle, but no pregnancy that month, 2nd round a lot of tracking and ups and downs with potential leading follicles but in the end it was a write off as non were big enough. Then the 3rd cycle I was upped to 100mg and worked very similar to the 1st cycle and again no pregnancy. Was advised to come off it for a couple of months while I wait for my next appointment and discuss adding in a trigger shot to my final 3 attempts and while waiting for that appointment I’ve just had a positive on a natural cycle after 3 years trying!

Kay00 · 27/10/2021 07:00

@herewiththepopcorn congratulations!! Thank you for sharing your story.

PCOSWarrior · 27/10/2021 07:47

@Herewiththepopcorn that is wonderful! Congratulations! Wishing you a happy, safe, healthy pregnancy xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 27/10/2021 12:39

@Herewiththepopcorn ooh that's amazing congratulations! I hope it all goes well for you

PCOSWarrior · 29/10/2021 14:36

Update:
After a bonkers two weeks of symptom spotting and spending waaaaaaay too long on this forum and others, AF showed up today so round one of Clomid was not the one for us.
However a couple of positives:
I definitely ovulated! This in itself is quite a big deal for me. BUT I think it maybe happened Thursday instead of Tuesday when the nurse predicted it would happen so I don't think my partner and I timed things quite right.
Also, my poor boyfriend did get quite overwhelmed by the pressure of it all and so we didn't DTD anywhere near as much as we should have done that week. We only managed 2 out of the 7 days recommended. So we learned some lessons about how to approach it. I had been so fixated on my body doing what it needed to do, I didn't really even consider his and tbh I don't think I could have an orgasm if someone was coming at me waving a tube of fertility lube and a OPK strip yelling "C'MON! NOW! NOW! NOW!" Grin Grin Grin
I'll start round two of Clomid 50mg tomorrow and keep taking my 1g of Metformin and keep everything crossed for an August Bambino!

How is everyone else getting on?

Marvellouslymadmum · 31/10/2021 20:28

@PCOSWarrior that did make me lol we don't really consider how demanding we are on our partners in all this I guess!

I am in my fw having up and down opk which is usual for me, but we haven't dtd for the last two days and probably won't tonight either because the oh has had a three day migraine! 🤦🏼‍♀️ typical with the timing, I can't afford to waste the clomid months so I'm hoping I don't ovulate until about Wednesday which will still give us a chance 🤞🏻

PCOSWarrior · 01/11/2021 07:39

@Marvellouslymadmum oh that is the worst luck! I am sending positive vibes across the ether for ovulation to just wait a few more days and for OH to feel much better soon! Good luck! Xx

Kay00 · 01/11/2021 16:26

@Marvellouslymadmum I hope your body holds off a couple more days too. Do you think you could sneak in DTD tonight?

I'm on 6dpo (2md Clomid cycle) and did my progesterone test today. I will call the clinic in a couple of days to ask them to chase up the results.

This month I had 1 x 27mm follicle on CD14, which was very large. I ovulated on CD15 so that follicle may have grown a couple of mm more... increasing the chances of it becoming a duff egg. So I think my chances this month are quite low.

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/11/2021 18:47

@PCOSWarrior @Kay00 he has been feeling a bit better today so we did have a sneaky dtd this afternoon, I'm hoping to get another on one tonight and have my scan tomorrow to find out what's occurring in there!
You never know @Kay00 you may be ok as they don't always grow lots every day

Kay00 · 02/11/2021 08:28

@Marvellouslymadmum that's true, I just need to wait and see if this cycle was successful, and if not then try try and try again! Well done getting some DTD in Grin

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/11/2021 08:42

@Kay00 that's it, just keep trying lol I have my scan today to see what clomid is doing for me - I feel like very little as I have no symptoms but we will see!

Kay00 · 02/11/2021 08:57

@Marvellouslymadmum I had no symptoms and over-stimulated the first time! So, I don't think that means too much. Good luck today. Please update us after your scan Smile
