Pfizer jab and delayed period anyone?

Hello!
We’ve been on and off TTC since Xmas. I had my jab last Thursday, was due on period on Saturday. Had chat with 3 nurses and a Dr before I went ahead with my jab who all were happy for me to have it (so was I, I did a lot of research before going!).

So now I’m 4ish days late. Obviously I tested on Sunday (haha) and it was a BFN. Tested again on Monday BFN again. Now I’m scared to do another test 😫. Normally I’m pretty regular, with a 26-29 day cycle. So this is not normal for me being on day 31 of cycle. I got a BFP with DD at 30 days...

After loads of Googling last night I found some research that suggests the jab can either bring on your period or in rare cases delay it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the delay? How long did it take to come back?

Xx

I've had the astra zeneca jag first one on mother's day and my period came as normal on 20th then my April period was 9 days late and now I'm 6 days late for mays period. I've also had nosebleeds when I've never had any before. These are the side effects that aren't mentioned in the patient information leaflet your given

Hayesdays · 02/06/2021 09:15

Oh no @ArrrMeHearties it’s so frustrating isn’t it!

And there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it. When is your second jab due? I’m wondering if these next 3 months of TTC are going to be right off...I guess it could be even longer after the second jab though...I’m gutted.

Hello. I have put a post up before but I had my pfzier cd12. It killed my ovulation that month. My period was late by 8 days and then I've not ovulated this month either and I'm cd22 now. Had my cd21 results and there barely any progesterone (suggesting no ovulation). I normally have a 28-31 day cycle until the last one. I've never not ovulated when ttc for 10 cycles now. My ovulation is usually cd15-17. I'm hoping this period isn't too late also because of all this as it makes the journey so much longer! I think the vaccine is to blame, which is sad but my friend had it roughly the same and the rest of her cycle and ovulation was fine. There's a chance it may affect you or it might not. I didn't and don't need the vaccine as it does not really affect me, my lifestyle or friends or family. I took it because I thought it would be OK but wish I hadn't. I won't be getting my 2nd one unless I have to wait fertility wise for something. I would suggest getting it if you are medically vulnerable or around those that may be. But it's your body so do as you please

Had my Pfizer jab on Sunday and was due to ovulate Tuesday/Wednesday but my LH is no where to be seen. Hoping it’s just delayed a bit but heard a lot of people saying they didn’t ovulate that month at all. Annoying but we’ve only been TTC for a few cycles so still very early. Just hope it only messes up this cycle and not the next couple

Hayesdays · 02/06/2021 09:37

Hi @Loops01 thanks for sharing your experience. I did so much research before getting the jab but never came across anything that suggested it affects fertility, in fact I read that it didn’t do anything! Which is worrying.
I’m in two minds whether to get the second one...
I’ll see how the next cycle goes and take it from there.

Hi @AllyCat31 I feel your frustration! I had already ovulated and was nearing AF time so didn’t think anything of it. Didn’t think it would delay a period.

I’m just frustrated (and angry for other women!) why isn’t this documented? It seems like a fairly common side affect doesn’t it! Grrrr

I think I’d probably still have had the jab as having Covid whilst pregnant is very dangerous. But I would have liked to have known that potentially I won’t be able to get preggers for 6 months or however long 😢

There's a website you can report it too. I did that with the late period and when I typed in 'lat...' it suggested late period as a cause so people are having it but just it isn't your typical symptom so it's not as common or people don't report it

AllyCat31 · 02/06/2021 09:48

Oh no, don’t say 6 months! I can’t cope with 6 months. I’m gonna pray it’s just this one cycle and we can hopefully just skip one month TTC 💔 @Hayesdays

Hayesdays · 02/06/2021 09:58

Oh @Loops01 do you have the link? I’d love to report mine - there’s nothing like people power!

Oh no I’m sorry @AllyCat31 I didn’t mean to upset you. I’m a prepare for the worst and hope for the best kind of girl! I’ll be keeping my fingers tightly crossed that all of our cycles get back to normal ASAP 😘

Brilliant thanks @Loops01 ☺️

Mine was a week late after first Pfizer jab but I’m not ttc and I’m on pro lactic suppressants for a microadenoma so wasn’t sure if it was related to that (if I get the dose wrong or stop taking it I dont get periods at all) - do I didn’t report.

ArrrMeHearties · 03/06/2021 08:54

hayesdays I had my 2nd jag on the 26th of May with no side effects this time but alas day 6 of period being MIA 🙄😂

Hayesdays · 03/06/2021 09:22

Did another PT this morning and BFN still so definitely writing that off as a reason for the delay now...unfortunately.

Fingers crossed we all get back to normal quickly!

Hi ladies, was v interested to read this thread. The time has come for me to get the jab and I'm in two minds, reading all your stories about delayed periods/no ovulation had got me scared. I'm already finding ttc so stressful and feel like I couldn't handle messed up cycles on top of everything rn. On the other hand I know getting the jab is the expected thing to do and would be safer when I do get pregnant. I guess I'm asking would you have not got the jab if you knew it might have had this effect? I can't decide!

Wishing everyone a speedy recovery with their cycles Thanks

GlamGiraffe · 03/06/2021 11:24

Completely regular normally. Compketely missedone after my Pfizer jab. Its the first and only time its ever happened. Wasnt affected by the second jab.

GlamGiraffe · 03/06/2021 11:24

Missed one* that should have said

AllyCat31 · 03/06/2021 11:36

Hey @suzy124 I totally understand! I knew it could happen and got it anyway because I’m vulnerable (but not enough to get the jab earlier) and cases are high here. I was just sick of living in fear. Was just coming on to say my LH is starting to go back up again so I’m hoping this means ovulation in the next week days. Will report back! Fingers crossed for everyone else too

Spinningaround21 · 03/06/2021 11:43

I had a delayed period the one after my first Pfizer jab in jab, so I went from a January period as normal to March ( 21 days late) however after my second vaccine I’ve had no issues at all.

I’m usually very regular between 24-27 days but occasionally like every couple of years have a delayed period so it may be that It could also be peri meno gearing up as I’m 42 .

This would not put me off at all if it was a known potential side effect. It was minimal and no issue. But I’ve worked with covid and don’t want the bugger after evading it for this long!

Spinningaround21 · 03/06/2021 11:44

I did report it to the yellow card as I’d seen another thread on here at the time. Maybe late feb/early March. Still unsure if it was though

TheFunBus · 03/06/2021 11:47

I can time clocks by how regular my period is

I had Covid and my period disappeared for 6 months ish - I didn't link the two and thought I had gone through menopause (I'm 48)

Came back after 6 months, back to being totally regular

Had the AZ jab and it arrived a week late (cue v worrying conversation with dp about me being potentially pregnant at 48 as I didn't link the AZ jab and the lateness Grin)

Now it's back to normal again

YorkshireSunshine · 04/06/2021 11:09

Glad I came across this thread!

My cycle is usually around 30 days, at an absolute AF has been CD33 on occasions, but always sore breasts/signs it’s coming a week or so before.

Had the Pfizer jab on CD13 and no sign of AF coming (now CD35) Hmm I’ve got some signs of ovulation today though, so maybe everything is super delayed this month!

Countingchicks · 04/06/2021 11:53

I had Pfizer jab last Tuesday and got my lh peak yesterday, never had such a strong reading as usually it's lower. Not delayed either

AllyCat31 · 04/06/2021 13:06

That’s great @Countingchicks I think the research suggests it’s affecting around 25% of women which is roughly the same as those that get covid as your body reacts in the same way. We’re just the unlucky ones!

SweattyYetti · 04/06/2021 13:19

Could just be stress as you're stressing about it xxx
