Pfizer jab and delayed period anyone?

Hello!
We’ve been on and off TTC since Xmas. I had my jab last Thursday, was due on period on Saturday. Had chat with 3 nurses and a Dr before I went ahead with my jab who all were happy for me to have it (so was I, I did a lot of research before going!).

So now I’m 4ish days late. Obviously I tested on Sunday (haha) and it was a BFN. Tested again on Monday BFN again. Now I’m scared to do another test 😫. Normally I’m pretty regular, with a 26-29 day cycle. So this is not normal for me being on day 31 of cycle. I got a BFP with DD at 30 days...

After loads of Googling last night I found some research that suggests the jab can either bring on your period or in rare cases delay it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the delay? How long did it take to come back?

Xx

Mine finally arrived today at CD 31. My cycles have been between 26-28 days the past six months so while my app tells me I'm five days late, I'm pretty sure I'm only 3 days late. Just relieved it's here. I will track ovulation this month to see if I do ovulate and keep you all updated if anyone is interested?

catinthewindow · 10/06/2021 11:28

Same story here ... two periods now, both 5 ish early (when usually 28 day cycle) and very light. No sign of ovulation and symptoms of peri menopause which I didn’t have before the vaccine and am only 38 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also furious it’s being labelled as stress or just a side effect that doesn’t matter. Cannot imagine male symptoms being treated this way.

FrannyBooBoo · 10/06/2021 18:35

I'm so glad you said signs of peri menopause as when I stupidly searched sore breasts after period that was the first thing that came up!

Honestly as you've both said @catinthewindow @Dollywilde if this were something that effect men it would be head line news and there would be a discussion about it, but women are just over looked.

I think it's wrong to say you can start Ttc conceive straight away, it's caused me pretty much 5 months of unnecessary stress 😔

I've done an econsult with my GP, just for a bit of reassurance, if that's possible!!

Keep strong ladies... hopefully our cycles will get back to normal soon

ArrrMeHearties · 10/06/2021 21:23

I found out why af was late and it wasn't quite all astrazenecas fault... I'm 6wks pregnant as I found out yesterday 🥰

Lebe14 · 11/06/2021 17:24

Hey all. Just to update. My AF is coming to an end now, day 4, which is normal for me. I've definitely had less cramps this month though. So nothing out of the norm so far after having first Pfizer dose on 31st May. Will update if anything is out of the norm during ovulation! X

JLQ1020 · 11/06/2021 17:27

Don't know if this helps but I had my Pfizer 1st dose and I conceived that same cycle.

FoxAndHedgehog · 11/06/2021 17:35

Congratulations, and I'm praying the same will happen to me lol! We're planning a wedding abroad next year so this month is our last shot before we have to stop ttc. Going for the vaccine tomorrow.

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 11/06/2021 19:11

@JLQ1020 that's encouraging, im due my first vaccine tomorrow and have been so worried that it's going to mess up my cycles as we're TTC and haven't had any luck since my miscarriage in Feb. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 11/06/2021 19:13

@FoxAndHedgehog sounds like you're in a similar boat to me. I have my my first vaccine tomorrow and I'm getting worried about how long it will take us before our wedding next October. But we're so desperate to have a baby

shinyblackdog · 11/06/2021 19:25

Yep, period 22 days late after first Pfizer jab.

Lebe14 · 11/06/2021 19:32

@JLQ1020 that's really good to know. Where were you in your cycle when you had the vaccine? X

Hayesdays · 11/06/2021 19:33

YIPPEEE!! Congratulations on the BFP!! That’s great to hear that it didn’t affect you guys too much…I’ll remain optimistic for this month now!

My period was normal for me too after being 8 days late. Will do ovulation tests mid next week…Flo estimates that ovulation is due on Father’s Day…could it be a sign?! Fingers crossed!!

Hi all,

Just wanted to give you a little update, had a reply from my GP...they had absolutely no interest in my linking of the delayed period and the vaccine...said it's more likely to be a combination for me of having covid and stress/anxiety.

I get that they can't say it's a definite link, but it's a bit disheartening!

Their advice was to try and relax and focus on my health...and then ttc in a couple of months... :(

Hayesdays · 11/06/2021 22:45

@FrannyBooBoo ugh. This sort of ‘advice’ really grinds my gears. It’s obviously from someone who has never TTC before.

A doctor actually said to me once “I only had to look at my wife and got her pregnant 3 times”… thanks for that mate. Really helpful.

Try not to let the buggers get you down and if you feel up to it keep on trying. After all you’ve got to be in it to win it :)

@Dollywilde your comment made me chuckle! Funny, because it’s true!

Same, I also had a mc on 1st May. We were so happy thinking it was the perfect timing and everything. Just finished my pmfirst period since so we were gonna start trying again but here comes the jab so will see Blush these stories here are quite reassuring and I'm trying not to read the ones that are not so positive to save myself from going insane Grin

Mel0Dram4 · 11/06/2021 23:36

I had the Pfizer and my very regular period arrived two weeks early. It was very heavy I remember thinking wow I've never bled so much on my period. It was only a few days later that I connected the two things.

imforourfreedomback · 14/06/2021 13:24

@riveted1 😂😂

FrannyBooBoo · 15/06/2021 21:30

Hi all...someone sent me this today and it's so reassuring...finally a GP telling us what to expect!

AstraZeneca for me and my periods have completely stopped after having it.

NeonMist · 18/06/2021 01:22

I have noticed that my periods have become much lighter since I had my Pfizer jabs. They are present, but it's as if they don't 'come on' properly.. I've had about 3 periods like that, I will see about the next one..

Yes! I don’t get the signs they’re coming either so mood is fine and no sore boobs but period just turns up
Goodmorninglights · 18/06/2021 13:37

One week late after the first jab, three weeks late after the second. Pfizer here. As regular as clockwork prior to that!
I’m in favour of vaccines but will definitely think twice and not rush to vaccinate the children until we know more.

kblue1 · 18/06/2021 13:46

Just for some reassurance...I had my 1st Pfizer on 19th May and got my BFF 3 days ago x

Sunfl0wer20 · 18/06/2021 20:40

Wish I had come across this thread earlier. I had my pfizer jab on 5th of May and have completely missed my period, cue days of convincing myself I was pregnant and the heartache of multiple negative tests.
I’m relieved to be able to have some kind of explanation, guess I just have to wait this out.
