Pfizer jab and delayed period anyone?

Hello!
We’ve been on and off TTC since Xmas. I had my jab last Thursday, was due on period on Saturday. Had chat with 3 nurses and a Dr before I went ahead with my jab who all were happy for me to have it (so was I, I did a lot of research before going!).

So now I’m 4ish days late. Obviously I tested on Sunday (haha) and it was a BFN. Tested again on Monday BFN again. Now I’m scared to do another test 😫. Normally I’m pretty regular, with a 26-29 day cycle. So this is not normal for me being on day 31 of cycle. I got a BFP with DD at 30 days...

After loads of Googling last night I found some research that suggests the jab can either bring on your period or in rare cases delay it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the delay? How long did it take to come back?

Xx

Hi @suzy124 I would still have gone through with getting the jab. I believe it’s more dangerous to get Covid being pregnant and that for me is way worse a thought than having a messed up cycle for a bit. I was just shocked it isn’t widely reported...and a bit upset for womankind!

Is it really 25% @AllyCat31 ? If so that’s even more shocking that it isn’t a listed well known side affect!

I had my first Pfizer jab on Monday and AF is due next Wednesday so will update you then. I’ve also read things about Covid jabs delaying periods or making them heavier on the next cycle. Fingers crossed it hasn’t messed up my cycle too much! Would be good to hear anyone else’s experiences! X

ELM7 · 04/06/2021 19:17

I had my Pfizer jab and Ovulated as normal and AF arrived today so has been a completely normal cycle for me.

Only side effect I had from the jab was feeling like I had jet lag the next day.

AllyCat31 · 04/06/2021 19:40

@Hayesdays yeah there’s been studies in America for women who had the vaccine and they compared the data to women who caught covid. Roughly the same. Shocking it’s not listed.

LH coming and going for me as if my body is trying to ovulate but isn’t getting there. Really not like me. Usually have one really strong LH surge and then temp spikes.

Hi,

Just to add my experience to the thread, I had Covid in Jan 2021, my like clockwork period was 6 days late, never late normally, then the second month if was 3 days late. i had the first jab and though timings were normal, my period was so heavy!
Just had my 2nd vaccine again pzifer in early May and although period was on time, I don't think I've ovulated this month...now I'm having a 6 day early period and zero cramps, it's also super light for me....honestly I'm so confused!

That being said I listened to a podcast about 2 doctors in the US researching this side effect on periods and all of their research has suggested that the vaccine effects will only last a couple of months, whereas having covid itself the effects on our bodies is so unknown!

I think I'm going to have a TTC break this month and hope some sense of normality returns to my periods and then get back on it and pray baby number 2 arrives before my first born leaves for uni!

Hayesdays · 04/06/2021 20:58

@FrannyBooBoo was it this podcast? open.spotify.com/episode/1H7f7UCfhcaChJ5x6mGknK?si=_GAJ0kP8QZa7InZ3BBJoeA

If so I thought it was pretty informative and I’m keeping my fingers crossed my cycle gets back to normal quickly like they suggest it will 🤞

Quick update, for all those following! AF has arrived today - hurrah! Never thought I’d write that sentence especially on a TTC forum haha! Feels like normal cramps and normal flow at the moment. I’ll update all those that are interested on how it affects ovulation and next month AF (although hopefully I’ll have happier news!)

Thanks to everyone who’s shared their experiences xx

Had Pfizer on 27th here and period came on today. Not sure if late or not as it's my first one since stopping Cerelle on 17th May, but it's within a few days of the last few regular bleeds I've had so don't think it's affected me in this sense.

DaffodilSunshine · 04/06/2021 21:20

I was a week late in the cycle I had my Pfizer jab. I had the jab right at the start of my cycle and I don't think I ovulated

That's the podcast, it was really informative and reassuring I thought!

It's so hard to know what to prioritise, however having had Covid I never want to get it again, and at least with the vaccine I'm reducing my chances of getting it and the effect!

Thanks for the update, I'm so ready for bb#2 now....sending good luck to everyone for some positive results soon xx

princessandthebaby · 04/06/2021 22:19

Gosh I can't believe this!

I had the jab on CD 8 in February- 2nd month of ttc and I had no peak and barely high LH and didn't think of the jab having any effect but maybe it did!

My perfect 28 day cycle, that month was 24 days.

Same following month.

Thankfully back to normal and ovulating with peaks since.

2nd vaccine has had no impact at all that I'm aware of.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 04/06/2021 22:21

I had AZ at the beginning of May and my period was a week late (usually v regular) - I had decided to nip down to Boots to get a pregnancy test when it finally decided to grace me with its presence Confused

cauliflowersqueeze · 04/06/2021 22:26

@GlamGiraffe

Completely regular normally. Compketely missedone after my Pfizer jab. Its the first and only time its ever happened. Wasnt affected by the second jab.
Exactly the same with me. Never realised it was due to the Pfizer before reading it. Normally totally regular.
20viona · 04/06/2021 22:26

I was 6 weeks late after my second Pfizer jab!

caracola · 05/06/2021 09:27

Hi all
It’s very interesting to read your experiences, and I’ve had similar going on.
I had the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine a day before my period was due. Since stopping the pill last November my period has been really regular, 24/25 day cycle. My period is now 14 days late. I’ve done three pregnancy tests which all turned out negative. All quite strange and confusing!
I’ve got an appointment booked with a doctor, so will see what they think.

There’s a survey open online for some research being done by some researchers at a college in the US. Here’s the link if anyone’s interested to share their experience:

redcap.healthinstitute.illinois.edu/surveys/index.php?s=LL8TKKC8DP

Hope we all get back to normal soon!

CornishTiger · 05/06/2021 09:34

Late Jan and had period not long after. Then nothing til mid May. This was unusual for me.

poppet131 · 05/06/2021 10:42

I also had the first dose of the Pfizer jab a couple of weeks ago and I have ovulated on CD 14 (typically 27-29 day cycle) this month. Side effects were minimal - just a very sore arm for a day or so! X

Lebe14 · 08/06/2021 12:51

Hi all. So I had my Pfizer jab a week last Monday on CD19 and AF arrived today, actually one day early! Will let you know if it's any different to normal (e.g heavier) and if it affects ovulation next cycle.

incywincyspiders · 08/06/2021 21:31

Thought I'd add to this: I had my Pfizer vaccine on Saturday (5th) I was due on my period on Sunday (6th). It still isn't here, taken a test and it was negative so pretty sure it is due to the vaccine as I'm very rarely this late. I've been crampy but no sign other than that.

AllyCat31 · 09/06/2021 08:16

Quick update: had the vaccine a week and a half ago now and LH is still really up and down and no sign of ovulation on my BBT. Over a week late ovulating now. Going to stop tracking LH, DTD when we fancy and just see when AF turns up. Will make sure to report my symptoms on the gov website too. Hoping it’s only messed up this cycle!

YorkshireSunshine · 09/06/2021 08:37

Thought I’d do an update too, still no AF on CD40 (usually CD29/30). But I had my usual ovulation signs & positive OPK on CD37.

Snowdonia · 09/06/2021 18:31

My cycle changed after coming off the pill in November. My regular 28 day cycle went up to 40 days at the beginning of the year. The last 2 months they came down to 30 so thought thing were getting back on track. Now I'm on day 35 and wondering if it's because of the vaccine which I had about 3 weeks ago. I'm holding off on doing a test for now to avoid the disappointment of a negative result. I don't feel AF coming on at all and feel no different in myself at all so would be surprised if I were pregnant. Reading this thread makes me think it must be the vaccine. Hopefully it'll show up soon!

adrianmolesmole · 09/06/2021 19:10

I've literally just started a thread on that on the corona board. I'm 35 days, still waiting for my period to start. Am very bloated and have a migraine. This happening to me for months since i got my first pfizer in Feb. It's so odd! And scary. I'm peri though but all the same my period's usually on the clock.

incywincyspiders · 09/06/2021 20:51

I'm on CD 30 now, occasional pink tinged CM when I wipe. I'm not crampy at all after cramping so intensely yesterday. I'm 1000% sure it's the vaccine and I'm not pregnant but it's so frustrating as I thought it wouldn't delay it due to being having it so close to my period being due 😥

I had the same though, my 2nd jab was on the 6th May then had a normal period...but this 2nd period was 6 days early and I had no cramps at all...and 8 days on I'm still getting streaks of brown blood when I wipe, also my boobs are still sore as I'd my period is due. It's utterly exhausting, I'm so emotional I did another test just in case but it's negative. Just really hoping that next month's period is "normal"...ha can't believe I want to see my period....oh and I'm tracking bbt this month as I don't think I ovulated last month 😩
Dollywilde · 10/06/2021 10:30

Opposite problem here, I had Pfizer on Friday and came on on Sunday, 10 days early Confused Not currently TTC but would have been very very annoyed if that had happened (I’m pretty sure I ovulated a few days beforehand, I tried for DD for nearly a year and so got pretty canny at spotting it).

As I said to DH it’s scandalous that this sort of thing isn’t even mentioned when it’s a well known side effect of the jab. If it affected sperm production for a couple of months or caused irregular bleeding from the penis you can damn well bet they’d have let people know (or, more likely, not released the jab until it was sorted.) Yet more ‘women’s health being thrown under the bus’ news.
