Pfizer jab and delayed period anyone?

Hello!
We’ve been on and off TTC since Xmas. I had my jab last Thursday, was due on period on Saturday. Had chat with 3 nurses and a Dr before I went ahead with my jab who all were happy for me to have it (so was I, I did a lot of research before going!).

So now I’m 4ish days late. Obviously I tested on Sunday (haha) and it was a BFN. Tested again on Monday BFN again. Now I’m scared to do another test 😫. Normally I’m pretty regular, with a 26-29 day cycle. So this is not normal for me being on day 31 of cycle. I got a BFP with DD at 30 days...

After loads of Googling last night I found some research that suggests the jab can either bring on your period or in rare cases delay it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the delay? How long did it take to come back?

Xx

Hi Ladies, thought i would share my story..
I had my first pfizer jab on 13th may which was the day after my period finished. I have a regular 28-29 cycle. My period was due 5-6th June and it never arrived.. done 8 tests, all negative! These where all done from day 1 of missed period up to 15 days later. I had read loads about women saying the vaccines had messed up there cycles, some never had periods for months, i assumed this happened to me. Had random dreams i was pregnant, decided to do another test at 19 days passed AF and there was a line appearing straight away on a first response test which was super strong! Shocked because me and the hubby decided to start trying for our second from September, (we usually just avoid DTF around ovulation). I dine clearblue weeks test and it came 2-3 weeks and a few days later 3+! So i assumed i was 8 weeks pregnant ( counted from 8th may which was my first day of last period)

Had to go for a scan yesterday due to pains, and it turns out there was a yolk sac, 3mm fetal pole but no heartbeat. I have another scan due next friday to see if there is a heartbeat. Fingers crossed!

I explained to the midwife that i only had my first positive a week and 2 days ago. We think i may have ovulated around 2 weeks later than expected, which is why i only tested positive a week ago which would make me around 6 weeks pregnant which tallys up to what was found on my scan! She also said the vaccine messed her cycle up too!

Hi @Loops01, I am having EXACTLY the same issue. pfizer vaccine cd 11, and no ovulation so far. On cd 16 now, and no bbt rise, I usually ovulate cd12-15, so annoyed! Really hoping next cycle will be ok, how are your cycles a month on? have they returned to normal yet?

Loops01 · 08/07/2021 10:41

@Katie567 keep testing. I stopped testing that month due to travel with work but the month after my peak was cd25! It's 2 cycles it ruined for me. Went from 28-31 day cycle to 33-36 day. Doesn't seem like a lot but it is because my partner and I work shifts and don't have much time off in a month (3 days) so it was very stressful knowing that I've had no issues to then having no clue what was going on. I'm cycle 3 since vaccine and I took soy isoflavones and my peak was Cd15! May not have much of a chance this cycle due to not really bd-ing on the lead up since I wasnt expecting it 10 days earlier than the month before! But I am glad it is back to normal. I missed my 2nd vaccine due to being away but I'm in no rush to get it for the next few cycles. Maybe once we are seen by fertility 🤷‍♀️. Good luck, keep testing and hopefully it won't last month than a couple of cycles!

Katie567 · 08/07/2021 10:49

@Loops01 thanks for this, will continue testing this month. the thought of it messing up another cycle after this one is very depressing, glad yours is now back to normal. Why soy isoflavones? not heard of that before? if you could tell me how you took it too that would be amazing, thanks! did you start from cd1?

And fyi this was my second jab for me. my first one was actually ok - i had it the day before my period (after bfn), and my period was fine etc. so i think it depends on which point in your cycle to get it, which is hard to plan as it's normally booked in advance!

Loops01 · 08/07/2021 12:18

@Katie567 I was tempted to get it at the end of a cycle or the very very start but was worried. Interesting how it's your second though! At least you're all covered ☺.

Soy isoflavones are good for irregular cycles. They basically attach to estrogen receptors to force your body to produce more estrogen. I've heard of 2 other women trying them and it made no difference but I definitely think they helped me. I bought osteocare tabs from amazon that had the soy isoflavones as a seperate tablet. The other tabs are zinc, vid d and magnesium so no going wrong there really as they aren't too strong. I took 1 soy tablets cd3, 4, 5 and then 2 tabs cd6 and cd7 then that's it! I'll continue using them for the next cycle or 2 then see how my normal cycle gets on. Its meant to mimic clomid slightly. Not recommended for regular cycles but 2 cycles irregular fir me so thought might as well!

My AF is 3 days late. I know I ovulated before I got the vaccine as did opk.

Got my vaccine (PZ) 10 days ago

Katie567 · 12/07/2021 17:39

@Loops01 thanks for this, I'm going to see what next cycle is like and then give it a try! thanks!

FoxAndHedgehog · 12/07/2021 20:20

We got a bfp in the first jab cycle! 5w 1d today. Now the question is, do I keep my original 2nd jab appointment and get it when I'm about 9 weeks, or do I delay it till I'm 12? Has anyone else had the dilemma? Had a miscarriage in May so anything concerns me lol.

Conundrum12345 · 13/07/2021 08:34

I got my period this morning. 8 days late

onedream · 14/07/2021 07:34

I had my first jab on 14th of may, I was on my period when having it. We ttc so obviously I did track ovulation. Two cycles passed and no ovulation detected. Never had a problem with ovulation beforehand. I'm now due to period next week and unfortunately haven't ovulated this cycle again.. due to second jab this Saturday..all these reported side effects and the lack of letting women know before just makes me doubt this vaccines..women should be informed of this to make the right decision for themselves..I am 38 now time is not on my side so definitely don't appreciate this info not to be disclosed especially as so many women reporting this every day..

Cassy4321 · 19/07/2021 21:38

Hi All, hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread. I'm a newbie to this and this is my first post. Still trying to get used to the abbreviations Grin. So we have been ttc for 4 cycles now. I'm 35 and he's 33. This would be our first. I got my first Pfizer vaccine on 6th July and got a solid smiley approximately a week after the jab so dtd 4 days in a row and used the fertalily. For reference my cycle is usually 26-27 days long. I started feeling cramps 3 days ago and feeling naseus all day today. I did a test yesterday on CD26 , BFN. Period didn't arrive today either but I decided not to test today and leave it another few days. I'm trying to not get my hopes up but it's so hard not to! Has anyone experienced nausea this early on?? I'm 9 days PO today. Really hoping the vaccine hasn't messed with my cycle. But after reading your stories I'm getting worried and less hopeful 😔 finding the whole experience of ttc so stressful and lonely as I don't feel like I can talk to friends about it, we are in different life stages etc.

Hayesdays · 19/07/2021 22:51

Hi @Cassy4321 sorry to hear you’re feeling lonely. I totally get it. I felt exactly the same when TTC my first.
I had 3 of my best friends announce their pregnancies whilst TTC. I finally talked to my friend about how I was struggling after I was invited to a lunch with all 4 of us. And basically I had to confess the reason why I really didn’t want to go. I just couldn’t face being the only non pregnant person in the room.
Anyway, she totally got it. So I’d highly recommend talking to your friends about it. You never know they might be in a similar situation or have been through what you are going through.
Also…on a TTC note, it’s my second cycle after jab 1 and I’m pretty sure I’ve ovulated hoorah! I haven’t bothered testing this month as I’m booked for second jab at the end of the month. But I’ve had ewcm and cramps. Which I didnt have last month. So hopefully things are returning to normal…however I’ll report back in a few weeks once I’ve had the 2nd jab! So if it does mess you up hopefully it won’t last for long.
and also…the lovely people on mumsnet helped me get through TTC baby number 1. They are a fantastic support network and are always here for you, including me!

My period was 4 days late after first Pfizer dose. When af came, it was the worst period pain I've experienced, I was awake most of the night wailing in pain, had to call in sick the next day.

Just had my second jab and now we wait... I've taken a break ttc whilst I'm taking Covid doses. X

Hayesdays · 28/07/2021 12:36

Hello everyone!
How are you all doing?

Just wondered if anyone that had a reaction to the jab has had their BFP yet? I had my second jab on Monday and am due AF on Friday…trying not to get my hopes up as I expect it is highly unlikely but any words of hope would be lovely to hear! Xx

SaraKitty · 28/07/2021 20:25

Has anyone seen any stories of anyone conceiving on a vaccine cycle ? I’ve my second dose on Monday on the day I ovulate (usually!) 😐

Hayesdays · 06/08/2021 18:51

Hi all,

I find it really annoying when I try and research something and find a thread that doesn’t complete, so just to update anyone that’s interested…I’m pregnant! Hurrah!

I had written off July to be honest as I had my 2nd vaccine booked…but we must have got our timings right and the 2nd vaccine doesn’t seem to have upset anything. I got it the Monday before my period was due on the Friday. Of course I tested on the Friday and got a BFN so I assumed the jab had delayed it again. I told myself I wouldn’t test again for a week. My boobs started hurting big time a couple of days later and I told myself I was imagining it. I then tested when my app said I was 9 days late and I got an instant BFP. I can’t quite believe it!

Super excited and a bit nervous now. Think I might pay for an early scan just to check everything is ok.

So there you go, pregnant after having the 2nd Pfizer vaccine. It does happen ❤️ And best of all, I feel safer knowing me and the jelly bean are a bit more protected from COVID.

@Hayesdays amazing news, congratulations!! I'm having my second Pfizer vaccine tomorrow and still ttc! 🤞🏻

NigellasMicrowave · 06/08/2021 21:13

Congratulations @Hayesdays that’s a really great outcome and will reassure lots of people, I’m sure.

My period was 5 days late last month, a day early this month and I’m due to get my second vaccine soon. I’ve signed up to the study at Imperial College run by Dr Viki Male and I’m keeping a period diary - find it quite exciting to be part of a study that focuses on women’s health!

Twobirdsinatree · 06/08/2021 21:15

I've had both Pfizer jabs and my period came like clockwork. I did bleed for longer than usual after my second jab and I was due my period just a couple of days after I had the jab.. it came on time but I bled for 6 days rather than 4....
But other than that its been completely fine. Wasnt in pain or particularly heavy flow or anything.

Twobirdsinatree · 06/08/2021 21:15

oh lol I shouldve read the update!!
Congratulations 🎉

SaraKitty · 06/08/2021 22:32

@Hayesdays I do hate those threads that are incomplete so annoying , that’s amazing !! So you think you conceived prior to the vaccine right ? I had my second dose on Monday and pretty sure I ovulated on the Sunday . So that makes me about 5dpo now so yet to see but so far no bleeding 🙏🏻 Congratulations such exciting times for you know ! X

Hayesdays · 06/08/2021 23:04

Thanks everyone!
@SaraKitty yes I’m pretty sure I must have ovulated about 1 week before the second jab.
Good luck with yours and TTC

Glad to have found this thread.
The 1st jab I came on a day early, the 2nd I had at 8 dpo. I'm now 18dpo and no sign.

AllyCat31 · 30/08/2021 07:27

Hey, I know this thread is quiet now but just to update you all. I had my second jab 6 weeks ago and I ovulated during the same cycle and got a BFP yesterday. Gonna keep an eye on it and not get too excited yet but at least I know my eggs/system are working fine if we’ve at least got to this stage!
