Pfizer jab and delayed period anyone?

Hello!
We’ve been on and off TTC since Xmas. I had my jab last Thursday, was due on period on Saturday. Had chat with 3 nurses and a Dr before I went ahead with my jab who all were happy for me to have it (so was I, I did a lot of research before going!).

So now I’m 4ish days late. Obviously I tested on Sunday (haha) and it was a BFN. Tested again on Monday BFN again. Now I’m scared to do another test 😫. Normally I’m pretty regular, with a 26-29 day cycle. So this is not normal for me being on day 31 of cycle. I got a BFP with DD at 30 days...

After loads of Googling last night I found some research that suggests the jab can either bring on your period or in rare cases delay it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the delay? How long did it take to come back?

Xx

This is really interesting, and I am so glad I’ve come across this thread.

I had my first AZ vaccine in March, a week after being treated for a MMC. I had a lot of spotting issues that were associated with the miscarriage, and I do believe that, but after a normal period, my last cycle, during which I had the second jab, was 40 days. When I called my GP, the day before it started, she tried to convince me that I must be pregnant and that the tests weren’t detecting it yet (which caused a whole load of false hope and upset). Like many of you said, it’s now being put down to stress and apparently relaxing is the answer, but I don’t feel particularly stressed, and have had regular period when in a far worse state.

birdbybird · 22/06/2021 15:32

I’m just panicking as this is unusual. I’m sorry but I’m not sure I would have had the jab if this was a side effect.

Folklore13 · 22/06/2021 19:32

I’m not late yet (due on Sunday). I had Pfizer CD7 and I’ve not had any of my usual luteal phase symptoms - worried my normally clockwork cycles have been skewed!

Robin17 · 22/06/2021 20:24

@ArrrMeHearties - just read your post about your late cycle after second jab, did it come in the end and how late? Just having a meltdown about whether or not to have the jab tomorrow as don't want it messing up my cycles.

@AllyCat31, did you LH levels come back ok? Can I ask how you measure your levels as I'd be interested in doing this but not sure how.

AllyCat31 · 22/06/2021 20:49

Hey @Robin17 I use OPKs and input them into the Femometer app. It scans them and tells you a % between 0-200%. 200 is the peak and normally I don’t go over 20% until my peak then it goes from 20-200 within 24 hours so really clear and obvious ovulation.
The day of my vaccine I got a 27% first thing then 60% at lunch time so thought I was going to ovulate but then it went back down to 0 a few hours after I got the vaccine. It’s never happened before.
I tracked for two weeks after and got nothing over 20% again so stopped bothering and wrote off the cycle. I BBT track too and no temp spike either. Just waiting for af now and hoping it will reset but been pretty upset as several weeks late, no ovulation and BFN every time I’ve checked (just in case)

AllyCat31 · 22/06/2021 20:53

Oh just to add @Robin17 if I had the choice now knowing what I know, I wouldn’t of got the vaccine. I would get it eventually but I would tell anyone TTC to wait unless they’re happy to wait several months for cycle to go back to normal. I am dreading getting the second dose, knowing it’ll probably happen again and we will have lost 3-4 months of trying 😩

Imisscoffee2021 · 22/06/2021 21:51

My period came 3 or 4 days early this month after the pfizer and I had spotting every single day between ovulation and AF this month, never usually spot that much so have a phonecall with gp booked in to discuss it. Hope it doesn't mess up cycle 3 TTC!

birdbybird · 23/06/2021 05:41

My period has thankfully arrived. Perhaps I ovulated a couple days later than usual and the luteal phase was a day or so longer than usual.

FoxAndHedgehog · 23/06/2021 15:39

Oookay to give some reassurance, I'm on cd 17 after my first period dafter a miscarriage in May. Had the Pfizer jab on 12th June which was cd 6 and my lh test is peaking like never before. This is our last shot ttc before we have to stop trying for about a year so lord give me strength 💪

YorkshireSunshine · 23/06/2021 17:02

Got a blazing BFP today (1st Vaccine 23th May, no AF since) - so despite a very late ovulation, the vaccine doesn’t appear to have impacted things any further!

Hayesdays · 23/06/2021 19:37

Congratulations @YorkshireSunshine lovely news!

I’m in the two week wait now… why does it go so slowly.

Obviously my mind is wondering about the possibility that I could be pregnant (think positive right!) what would you guys do if you found out you were early pregnant and due for the 2nd jab at around 10 weeks? Would you still go? Just looking for opinions…

This is our 8th cycle TTC and I'm due my first vaccine next week. I'm going to have it but I'm a bit nervous about it messing with my cycle! We're taking a break after July so I really don't want to waste this cycle 🤞

Hayesdays · 23/06/2021 19:47

@thebattleofschrutefarms great username!

Good luck TTC

Thank you! I'm wondering now if I should delay it just until after ovulation. Some thinking to do!
Hope you get your BFP 🤞

Dalmxo · 25/06/2021 06:58

Hey, I'm now on day 48 of my cycle! I came off the pill last December and cycles have been up to 34 but not 48! I have no signs of starting soon either and I had the jab end of May- and should of had AF after.. but miffed xx

Dalmxo · 25/06/2021 06:59

Pfizer jab ** x

NigellasMicrowave · 25/06/2021 10:48

By my calculations, my ovulation is about five or six days late. I had my jab on CD6 (Pfizer). It will be interesting to see if my period is as late…

NeonMist · 26/06/2021 09:37

I'm coming back to this thread to say that after 3 periods with minuscule flow after the jabs (it felt like the period didn't start properly) - my 4th period has now come on with a normal flow !

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 26/06/2021 10:44

@NeonMist that's good to hear your cycle is back to normal. My cycle has been all over the place since miscarriage in feb and I had my Pfizer jab at beginning of June but I think I ovulated on Monday so hopefully my cycle will still be fairly normal this cycle (even though they have been irregular the past few months!)

Veronika13 · 26/06/2021 10:50

Hi girls, I got the first jab yesterday, I'm stopping TTC for a few months as that is the advice here in Australia. Second dose in 3 weeks but we've been using condoms already.

Seems to be stricter in Aus. It sucks to put ttc on hold but there's nothing I can do x

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 26/06/2021 10:57

@Veronika13 that's interesting which vaccines do you have Pfizer and AstraZeneca? What is the reason behind them asking couples to delay ttc?

I've had my 1st vaccine and tbh ttc is taking us longer than expected anyway!

Veronika13 · 26/06/2021 10:58

Wow reading the responses and am
Pretty mind blown people got the jab and continue to ttc, ovulate a few days after the vaccine etc., maybe it's safe then? Our GPs' advise here is that we absolutely cannot get pregnant 2 months before and after the jab, they've put the fear into us that the foetus will have complications! Confused maybe I should continue ttc....

Veronika13 · 26/06/2021 11:00

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter I had Pfizer, young people are not given AZ.

They say no research is sufficient yet, and if you get measles vaccine and get pregnant - there's a huge risk of foetus being deformed. So they're treating Covid vaccine with the same risks until the get confirmation it's competent safe. X

ButterscotchBabe · 26/06/2021 11:01

I had the Pfizer vaccine (1st dose) on day of ovulation, period was 1-2 days later than normal, so nothing significant. But it was much more painful than any other period I've had in a long time and slightly heavier.

Hayesdays · 30/06/2021 20:35

Evening all! Just thought I’d update you all for those following my story!

So good news and bad news for me today.

Good news is that my cycle is back to a normal length, but bad news is that it’s cycle day 1 for me today boooo!

So my cycle returned to 28 days so that’s great. But I’m not 100% sure I ovulated. I got high opks but no peaks.

I know I said I wouldn’t temp, but I’m thinking of trying it this cycle. Just to see if this month I get a temp spike.

However, I think we will take TTC break during July. I’ve managed to bring my 2nd vaccine forward a few weeks and will be getting it at the end of this month. Also it’s my birthday in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to drowning my sorrows with my friends! So I’ll temp and hopefully be in a good place for august.

It’s been really interesting hearing all your stories. Thanks for sharing them with me.

And if you haven’t already please report your experiences to yellow card coronavirus-yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

Xxx
