After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

@Kay00 @Sunshinedaisybuttermellow @AllyCat31@Gracie2021

We got this! I’m on CD5 now. Sending lots of positive vibes and baby dust 💫

This month I’m going to cut down my workouts around ovulation and implantation time (which I currently do 6 days a week) and see if that makes a difference.

Juno231 · 18/05/2021 10:52

@kay00 ah exciting to get all those balls rolling! Kinda hoping you have something wrong that is easy to fix - isn't that nuts lol. I hate having unexplained infertility.

CD14 and my temp hasn't risen yet after my peak OPK on CD12 so I guess today is the day lol? I'm just surprised cause most cycles I seem to ovulate the same day as my peak, a few the day after but I think it's rare for me to ovulate 2 days after an LH surge. Didn't manage to BD last night as OH was knackered but got some this morning before work so we're still maintaining every other day at least!

AllyCat31 · 18/05/2021 11:13

CD2 as well @Kay00 hoping we can all get some luck!

Do you think reducing exercise helps @Tillybabs I already had massively reduced mine in general but was still doing walks, jogs and light weights during LP ..wondering if I should cut the jogging and weights entirely?

Tillybabs · 18/05/2021 11:22

@AllyCat31 I’m not sure to be honest but I just want to try it.

I do some intense workouts (max an hour a day) and so not sure if it’s having an impact.

I’ve read a bit about it online and studies differ. But one thing I noted if that during an IVF cycle, women are told not to exercise.

Exercise generally is good for our mind and general health so I wouldn’t give up the walking, jogs and light weights as these are moderate.

I’m just going to cut down the intense ones at certain times in the cycle and see if this helps. Also I keep getting recovering thrush since taking antibiotics in Feb and I’ve been reading that exercise doesn’t help! So that’s another reason for me to cut it down.

Juno231 · 18/05/2021 11:26

@AllyCat31 I don't think you need to worry - it's really just hardcore HIIT that perhaps could get in the way - and even then I know lots of women that did crossfit/HIIT whilst TTC all the way through to giving birth!

Juno231 · 18/05/2021 11:27

@Tillybabs oh and no exercise during IVF is due to risk of ovarian torsion! It's because all the stims really mess with your ovaries and make them enlarged. Not a risk during normal TTC.

Tillybabs · 18/05/2021 11:29

@Juno231ah ok that’s good to know thanks.

For me personally it’s this thrush issue I have and plus I thought I would try something new and see if it makes a difference.

Lovebug06 · 18/05/2021 11:29

My dog I think has a uti its come on suddenly in like a day or so, and is crying out this morning😢. Been a nightmare trying to get in the vets. Ive been in tears as I feel so awful for him. I'm probably being ridiculous but it's horrible when you can't help! I wonder what I'd be like with a baby 😂

12dpo. Boobs slightest bit tender. Nothing else. The vaccine may have affected things but I've had this before anyway.

Hope you all have a good day!

AllyCat31 · 18/05/2021 13:33

Yeah, that’s the thing I do powerlifting and weightlifting normally but basically given than you except the first two weeks of my cycle (really enjoyed yesterday’s session) but wondering if I should just still to walks and yoga during the TWW next time. I guess you never know what helps/hinders really

ChinChilly · 18/05/2021 14:01

@AllyCat31 @Tillybabs I stopped going to they gym about 2 weeks ago mainly because I am exhausted and I couldn't think of anything worse. I would say just do what feels best for you.

@Lovebug06 hope your poor pup is ok, I hate seeing my dog in pain, breaks my heart.

I had my booking appointment this morning, felt very strange to have it so early, but it was actually really uneventful, not sure what I expected to be honest 🤣

Juno231 · 18/05/2021 14:09

@ChinChilly haha how anticlimactic are we talking? Did they arrange for you to come in and have bloods taken? When's your first scan?

@Lovebug06 ouchie I hope the pupperito is okay!

The dog I'm dog sitting is so badly trained lol! It can't walk on a lead to save its life, barks often but otherwise is a sweetie... Just wish it didnt wake us at 1 am barking at foxes in the street or at 6 am when it heard the neighbours up and about lol. Or barked at the neighbour's daughter, their cat, at our other neighbours over the fence...

Maybe if i get a dog I'll need a basenji!

Tillybabs · 18/05/2021 14:11

@AllyCat31 I think it’s fine as your body is used to being active. I think it would only possibly matter if you weren’t normally active and then were putting added stress on the body that it’s not used to.

I’m just going to give it a try and see if it helps. But of course I won’t know for sure lol unless something happens. And even then, it could just be a viable egg, timing right etc.

Just do what you think feels right for your body.

@ChinChilly what happens in the booking appointment?

ChinChilly · 18/05/2021 14:16

@Juno231 she said they will do the blood tests at the same time they do my first scan, seems late to me. I have to go in, in a couple of weeks time to have my height and weight measured and do a urine sample. She said the scan will be towards the end of June but the hospital will write to me. It was more about mine and my family's health history

My dog is abit of a pain on the lead although he's not a barky dog, thank goodness!

ChinChilly · 18/05/2021 14:19

@Tillybabs they just took all my details the date of the LMP, occupation, next of kin, my health history, OHs health and family, they check you're taking the correct vitamins. I had to choose a hospital aswell as there are two options around here, one is a shithole and the other is miles away, I opted for the one miles away 🤣

Tillybabs · 18/05/2021 14:22

@ChinChilly don’t blame you for choosing the one miles away 😂 How exciting! Countdown now to your first scan 😃

ChinChilly · 18/05/2021 14:30

@Tillybabs my friend gave birth at the one I referred to as a shithole and she said it was filthy, cigarette ends on the on floor in the waiting room and all sorts. I know the end of June doesn't seem too far away but I think I will go for a private early scan in a few weeks

Juno231 · 18/05/2021 14:36

@ChinChilly gosh I'd take the one miles away as well! Did they ask you if you and OH are related? That one always makes me laugh. My local hospital has def been in the news for excess deaths (in relation to heart surgery mind you) and has a bad rep in general so I'm tempted to see if I can deliver in one half an hour away instead. All hypothetical atm anyway!

pineapple2021 · 18/05/2021 14:43

@Juno231 @ChinChilly haha I got asked the "is he your cousin" question.....so funny.

Well I had my 12 week scan yest and today made an official complaint to the nhs. Awful awful treatment.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 18/05/2021 14:44

What happened @pineapple2021? Hope you are okay

ChinChilly · 18/05/2021 14:47

@Juno231 @pineapple2021 they didn't ask me that, that's hilarious. They did give me the option, not sure if that is standard.

@pineapple2021 oh no, what happened?

pineapple2021 · 18/05/2021 15:00

Thanks all. Okay now....

So I opted for a NIPT blood test to check deformities as more accurate than nhs so turned up yesterday snd got asked why I was there.... so I said nhs scan to date pregnancy as private don't count on notes or record. Got tutted, rolled eyes. Partner sat down and she goes "better sit here if you wanna see" then said "get on the bed, trousers down". She scanned me and obviously I am anxious about scans and she was mute..... partner luckily saw the heartbeat but still 24 hours later no medical professional has confirmed the heartbeat. She did her measuring in silence, chucked blue roll at me and said "try your belly I'll send your notes out"..... and that was my first ever nhs pregnancy appointment.

Kay00 · 18/05/2021 15:02

@ChinChilly That sounds super exciting! I'd for sure get an early private scan and aaaaabsolutely would have chosen the better hospital! I'm quite lucky, here in Exeter, we have a really great hospital Smile

@pinapple2021 oh no! I hope you are OK? xx

@Juno231 that puppy sounds cute Grin my doggo's are pretty silent (they are greyhounds). I have only heard my boy bark x3 in the past 4 years! My girl growls a lot at other dogs at the moment... but I think that's because she's in season!

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 18/05/2021 15:12

@Kay00 hope you get the answer you want with the bloods, whether that's a problem so it can be fixed or all clear 🤞

@Juno231 🤞🤞🤞 that this is your month

@AllyCat31 I think @Tillybabs is right, it's exercise your body isn't used to that could be a problem. In general it shouldn't be, but no harm in cutting down if you think it might help.

@lovebug06 poor doggy! Hope he's OK soon.

@chinchilly definitely sounds like the further away hospital is a better choice! Is it still near enough to get to in labour and everything?

@pineapple2021 oh no, what happened? Hope you are OK Flowers

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 18/05/2021 15:15

@pineapple2021 sorry, I cross posted!
That sounds awful, I'm so sorry. So unprofessional and rude of the sonographer. I think they do usually keep quite quiet while they scan so they can concentrate, but it's hardly difficult to say everything looks OK! And they should let you listen to the heartbeat definitely.
Hopefully you get a good response from your complaint Flowers

Lovebug06 · 18/05/2021 15:52

He has cystitis and they said a lot of blood in his urine so will be in quite a lot of pain 😢 I didn't see any blood but apparently you can't always see it. She said it may go really pink before it goes. I've got some medicine. He's all droopy poor boy. I think the medicine has made him sleepy for a bit. Horrible to think they're in pain but can't tell anyone. Thanks for the dog love 🥰
