After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

Ladies already at the soiree:

@Tillybabs possible the Hycosy then, I don't know much about them so not sure if they can have that effect.

Kay00 · 14/07/2021 10:37

@tillybabs as mentioned in our other post, I'm 13dpo and AF due today but not arrived yet. I could have arguably ovulated a few days later though, what do you ladies think?

Tillybabs · 14/07/2021 10:46

@Kay00 possibly by an extra day I would say.

I use Femometer for temping and Premom for the opks. Fem says AF is due tomorrow and Premom says today!

I guess the temping is more accurate so will go by that.

MissC07 · 14/07/2021 20:32

@Kay00 Happy Belated birthday!! Fingers crossed for a BFP for you this month.

@Tillybabs Sorry AF is being so unpredictable! Fingers crossed something happens in the next few days for you.

@Lovebug06 Sending you virtual hugs. I'm sorry you're going through that. I hope the funding in your area picks up soon.

CD72 for me today and not a hint of Ovulation! My acupuncturist has also now said she won't treat me anymore as she's not seeing any results. Which upset me a bit but I guess at least I'll save money now. It's my last day at my toxic hellhole of a workplace on Friday and then I have 2 weeks off before starting my new job. So trying to stay positive and look forward to that. Oh and also had my bloods done this morning so hopefully will get those results next week. Chart below just for absolute LOLs.

@missc07 urgh, that's a very frustrating chart. Also... a bit rubbish of your acupuncturist?? Maybe she's worried she's making the situation worse? Here's hoping a week or two off work will help you de stress, and get your cycles back on track 🤞

Kay00 · 15/07/2021 08:33

FYI all, my period started yesterday so I'm CD2.

CharWils · 15/07/2021 09:17

Morning all, hope you are all doing okay?
My Dr is calling me back this morn and I'm gonna request some bloods as I have a very short LP (8 days) have realised both before and after conceiving Jack. I have only had 3 periods since loosing him and 2 before him after coming off the pill. All are about 29 days and I ovulate on around days 20.
Any advice on what I can ask for test wise and also anything else I should be asking to take or for advice on at the same time?
I know hormones after pregnancy can be messed up so I want to sound like I know what I'm talking about so I can at least get the tests needed and not just put down to that!
Thankyou xx

ChinChilly · 15/07/2021 09:23

@MissC07 yikes that's a long chart! I wonder if your crappy workplace may be effecting your cycles?

@Kay00 Dam, sorry AF arrived

@CharWils I'm not sure what causes shorter LP's...progesterone maybe?

I keep getting random period pains, I'm hoping the bleeding following the MVA doesn't start back up again, I think I got off lightly on the bleeding front so I wouldn't be surprised 🙄

CharWils · 15/07/2021 13:39

Thanks @ChinChilly has anyone tried proceive? I've read good reviews on the max one so have just bought to switch from pregnacare as nearly out. Expensive but just got in boots on 3 for 2 so 3 months worth at £100 and with £31 back in points xx

Theosmommy2011 · 15/07/2021 15:08

Hi all, was wondering if anyone had any advice on coming off the cerazette pill? I have been on it since January and had the mirena before that. I want to come off asap but trying to hold off as I'm away next week and don't want a period to start whilst I'm there. I know it's different for everyone but not sure what to expect.
Many thanks 😁 xx

ChinChilly · 15/07/2021 15:27

@CharWils I haven't tried them but I've just looked up the reviews and they do look good. £31 in points is good aswell, I like to hold on to my boots card points then feel guilty for spending them. I've gone back to normal folic acid and vit d for now seen as we're not ttc at the mo, will probs chuck some omega in there.

@Theosmommy2011 Hi, my period took about 4 weeks to return but I was really crampy, sore boobs and generally felt like my period was going to come at any moment from a few days after i stopped taking it

Theosmommy2011 · 15/07/2021 16:02

@ChinChilly Hi, thanks for the reply. I still have my periods, they have just gotten lighter. I don't know whether they will just stay regular or I will have some kind of withdrawal bleed or earlier period once I have stopped taking it. Next week should be my fertlie window, I have bought some OPK's although I've never used them. Just wanting to see if ovulation occurs or returns. I may stop a few days before then, hopefully it will hold off while I'm away and can start getting my regular period back (although I'm scared of the increased pain and heaviness lol ). I have endometriosis and adenomyosis so the pill I think helps to reduce my pain xx

Juno231 · 15/07/2021 16:33

@kay00 sorry AF showed :/ I'm glad you got the ball rolling on metformin though and your cycles seem so much better lately!

@CharWils low progesterone for short LPs but I have yet to hear of a doctor willing to do anything to prolong it. At most they seem okay with prescribing progesterone to start with once you have had your bfp in case it's causing early miscarriages but that wasn't a problem with Jack :/

@Tillybabs the only thing I can think of is that femometer is wrong in its calcs? I find it a lot less reliable than FF personally.

I'm campervaning the NC500 ladies so am being a bit quiet atm :) I've attached a pic of my current location!

Tillybabs · 15/07/2021 16:44

@Juno231 AF arrived today so I get a had a longer LP?

Where are you? That beach looks beautiful 😍

Carolinesturn · 15/07/2021 17:03

I'm having a MAJOR melt down, I just ordered an opk and temp kit from ebay and it came with an FSH test, I've never even heard of this test but apparently it's to test to see if you are peri menopausal. Anyway I'm 1dpo and it came back positive!!! What does this mean, I'm 32 and it didn't cross my mind I could be peri menopausal

Tillybabs · 15/07/2021 18:27

@Carolinesturn I don't know much about the fsh home tests but this might help. It advised not to use the home ones.

Carolinesturn · 15/07/2021 20:32

@Tillybabs
Thank you, I didn't even want the bloody tests but they came free with the temp thing so I thought what the hell. I'm only 7 weeks off the pill and have had a period but had brown spotting 4 days before so I know that's a sign. I also get v little Ewcm. I'm very upset about this result, going to try and speak to gp tomorrow

Juno231 · 15/07/2021 20:44

@Carolinesturn did it not come with any instructions? Everyone has fsh in their system so it being positive sounds... Useless? Hopefully it's just a crap test. Also I'm pretty sure you're mean to test it at CD 2-3 as it needs to be baseline.

@Tillybabs you didn't have a jab this cycle did you? But yeah I get the odd longer LP sometimes, I still haven't figured that one out. I'm in Northern Scotland - that beach is Sango sands and I'm sleeping at Balnakeil Beach tonight - pic attached!

ChinChilly · 15/07/2021 20:45

@Carolinesturn I'm not sure about the FSH, I've had mine checked but I can't remeber what the number was. I think seen as your only 7 weeks off the pill i would take it all with a pinch of salt, it takes soo long for everything to settle down. I didn't get much EWCM for a few months after stopping the people some people have success with more ewcm by drinking grapefruit juice or taking evening primrose oil, only take thw epo upto ovulation though.

ChinChilly · 15/07/2021 20:46

@Juno231 views are amazing, hope you're having a fab time!

WhirlingD · 15/07/2021 21:31

@Carolinesturn it would be positive mid-cycle. Nothing to worry about. They go positive at about 40 and that's normal mid cycle levels. It's only accurate as a menopause test on day 2-3 as follicular phase levels should be lower.

Unfortunately I know a fair bit about this as I am perimenopausal at 38 Sad

Tillybabs · 15/07/2021 22:02

@Juno231 do you mean the Covid jab? No I had that in May. I had the Hycosy so wondering if that affected it.

That beach looks stunning!

@Carolinesturn I wouldn't worry about it too much as it seems they aren't very accurate but speak to your gp to put your mind at rest.

Carolinesturn · 15/07/2021 22:03

Thank you @WhirlingD for that, it's put my mind at ease a bit, there was no mention of a day on the test just that I should try again in a week to 'confirm' my results.
I'm sorry to hear about your early menopause, do you have children? We all wish we started younger. I'm really angry at myself for not starting younger and irrationally angry at my DP too for not finding me sooner... how crazy is that.
Got a gp call booked for tomorrow's maybe they will put my mind at ease further!

ChinChilly · 15/07/2021 22:19

@Carolinesturn I certainly wish I had started earlier, I'm 30 next month and have been with OH for 13 years this year so I'm not entirely sure what we have been waiting for

WhirlingD · 15/07/2021 23:29

@Carolinesturn unfortunately I found out I was going through premature menopause when I came off the pill at the start of the year to try for my first child. It has been a heartbreaking couple of months but I’m trying not to have regrets. I simply wasn’t in the right place to try for children earlier. I have appointments booked with various specialists over the next month or so and then I expect I’ll go straight to donor egg IVF, which I am actually OK with. I just desperately want the opportunity to carry and raise a child and hopefully this will enable me to do that.
