After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

Ladies already at the soiree:

I feel similar to @ChinChilly. We have been together over a decade and 32yrs old. Turns out getting and staying pregnant much harder than we thought.

Carolinesturn · 16/07/2021 06:54

@WhirlingD I'm so sorry to hear that, that's frustrating for you as you've been together for so many years but try not to regret... how could you possibly know. Did your mum go through early menopause?
I'm going to speak to my GP today but I'm almost a little frightened to, I only can find bad things online except for one article that says FSH can be elevated after sustained pill use... but that's just one article. I have no other symptoms apart from lack of ewcm and brown spotting 3/4 days before my proper period.
Thanks for your help

@Juno231 totally unrelated to the thread but saw your pics..... we're doing the same in a camper in 4 weeks for our honeymooon. Any beach or anything recommendations?!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 16/07/2021 07:58

@pineapple2021 I've done parts of the NC500 too (v jealous of @Juno231 being there in this weather!).

We were at applecross last year. The bealach na ba is spectacular but you'll need to be a relatively confident campervan driver for it. If you like a hike theres a 2 hr corbett at the top of it that has spectacular views.

Kay00 · 16/07/2021 08:17

@juno231 amazing pics!! So beautiful 😍 we are camping in the Mendips, which has been lovely. Last day today though.

You're right, my cycles have been much better but I'm attributing that to the Conceive plus ovulation support which contains CoQ10 etc. Unfortunately Amazon were unable to fulfil my order so I have run out... and I'm already on CD3 without them. Not sure it this cycle will play ball.

I also feel the same as @chinchilly and @thedaydreambelievers. My OH and I have been together for nearly 18 years and I'm 36 now. We left it way too long and I'm annoyed about that (I mention it too him far too regularly 😅), but we lived in a tiny 1 bed flat before we moved into our current 4 bed, and before that we lived in different cities for a few years, so we just weren't in the position to try until now. Ah well!

@TheDaydreamBelievers @Kay00 I came off the pill 3 years ago to ttc then had a wobble and went back on it for 1-1 1/2 years, totally kicking myself for that now. Ahh that's annoying with amazon not being able to fulfil your order, can you get them from anywhere else?

I jealous of all your beautiful views!

WhirlingD · 16/07/2021 11:39

@Carolinesturn yes I read that article too! 100 days after coming off microgynon, I miraculously had a period. My day 3 FSH was 13 which wasn't terrible. After another 50 days with no period, my FSH tested at 77 (!!!) with an AMH of 0.36 to seal the deal
of premature menopause. I'm a month on from that, with no period. I had my bloods re-done a couple of days ago. Scared to see what they'll be!!

Everything I read told me that the pill is out of your system quickly and that it only masks underlying problems. I ignored that and was convinced I was messed up by the pill and that all would be fine. But knowing what I know now, I do think it was just masking a problem!

Loving all the camping pics. I am also camping in Northern Ireland this summer!

Carolinesturn · 16/07/2021 12:34

@WhirlingD
I'm so sorry to hear about you fsh levels. Did you have any other symptoms other than missed periods?
It's very easy to be lulled into a false sense of security by people saying 'just give it time, it'll happen'!!
Where are you going for looking into egg donors?
So I phoned the GP a couple of hours ago and she told me that my hormones were settling after the pill, however it's like you say, the pill should be out our system in days not weeks/months so what is it that makes our hormones sky high?
Have you been diagnosed with POF or are you in perimenapouse?
My GP left me with the following advice which is
Bin the tests... all of them
Stop googling
Chart my periods
Breathing exercises
Wait....
Not really helping my mental state but I'll try.

WhirlingD · 16/07/2021 13:05

@Carolinesturn I had terrible hot flushes and night sweats when I first came off the pill. I feel really well now and my oestrogen is now through the roof high (just called docs) so perhaps I've got into some sort of hormonal rebound!

I feel happier since I've cut down on googling.

It looks like POF (as I'm 38 and have autoimmune diseases in the family) but diagnosis requires 2 elevated FSH levels and it looks like mine are still fluctuating. My mum died pre-40 and was really ill beforehand so we can't use that as a predictor of menopausal age.

I favour going abroad for donor eggs since there is virtually no waiting list. I'm sick of waiting.

Carolinesturn · 16/07/2021 13:16

@WhirlingD I'm so sorry you lost your mum when she was so young.
Do you have any sisters that have had an ok time conceiving? I don't know the genetics of it apparently POF is more bad luck than genetics though.
How are you coping with your partner? Is he supportive with your decisions.
Well that's good news that maybe your hormones have had a reboot. There still apparently is a 10% chance of conceiving naturally with actual POF and yours sounds very much like a question mark just now
