After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

Ladies already at the soiree:

@Tillybabs @MancMama39 thanks both.

I just had a delivery of a big bunch of flowers from my boss on behalf of all the team so that was nice, set me off again though 🤣 I really wish Monday would hurry up I keep second guessing my decision for the surgical management 😕

MancMama39 · 01/07/2021 12:55

@ChinChilly I don't have all the answers but I can speak from experience previously... I had medical management with my MMC in 2015 and it did not work for me personally. I stayed overnight in hospital in pain and I wish I had just gone surgical as ended up going that way anyway a few days later. After the EPRC I felt like I could start to process what had happened. Look after yourself Xx

ChinChilly · 01/07/2021 13:07

@MancMama39 the nurse did say the medical management doesn't always work out and can be abit of a drawn out process, she didn't push me into the surgical route at all but obviously had to explain all the options. I think because it's almost a weeks wait from when we found out until the surgery I'm overthinking it all

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/07/2021 13:24

@ChinChilly from my research - there is an equal risk of infection from surgical and medical management. 'natural' (eg waiting it out) for a MMC is more likely to result in infection than the others. Surgery has the lowest risk of needing it repeated (under 5%), medical next (about 1/5 to 1/3rd of people) and natural most (can take a v long time to resolve fully). Surgery has the highest patient satisfaction ratings afterwards.

Personally, I had surgery under GA. Obviously it was/is an awful experience all round but physically it was almost pain free, and I had barely any bleeding (more spotting for a couple of weeks). The medics were absolutely lovely throughout.

LauraT94 · 01/07/2021 13:49

@ChinChilly I'm SO sorry to hear your news 😢

FWIW I would go for surgical management again. However, I would be pushing for it under GA. I had to have mine under local anaesthetic due to Covid procedures and I'm still not over the trauma of it. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat anything over xx

ChinChilly · 01/07/2021 14:59

@TheDaydreamBelievers @LauraT94 thanks both for your replies..i think the lowest risk of having to have anything repeated makes it the lesser of 3 evils! At the moment I'm booked in to have it under local anesthetic, I've never had a GA before and having it booked in for a certain time and knowing that if it all goes to plan I will be walking back out half hour to an hour later seemed the easiest route, they did say i could change my mind at any point. There seems to be such mixed experiences of having it under local rather than general some people say it was super painful then others say it was a tiny bit more uncomfortable than a smear.

I can't fault the staff at Birmingham's womens EPU they were so all so compassionate and kind, the EPU there is also attached to a Tommy's research centre so I think that is where my referral will go.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/07/2021 08:06

I'm having one of those manic weeks where you convince yourself you are pregnant for no reason. Have had about 4 days of cramps, cant finish a meal without gagging, really tired, sore lower back, windy, itchy nipples, very emotional (cried at an advert). But... I think it might just be stress from my.work atm. Wasted a blooming FRER on it this morning. They do seem to get grey evap lines now (have seen people complaining about them recently) but that's maybe also cause I was peering too hard! Was definitely an evap 2nd line - almost invisible and no colour to it.

Thank you for listening to this stream of consciousness. 15 months trying to have a baby and no further forward

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/07/2021 08:08

(Fairer to say an indent than an evap - sorry FRER!)

Juno231 · 02/07/2021 08:11

@TheDaydreamBelievers it's unreal how much our bodies mess with us at a time when the only thing we want is a bfp... The indents I see people having make me laugh as I've never even had one of those - it's like I'm next level barren 🤣

Kay00 · 02/07/2021 08:15

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'm pretty sure I had one of those barely visible evap lines last month, I hope yours is more though! Do you know if/when you ovulated?

I'm CD15. I have been getting some EWCM for the last few days but OPKs are low and temps steady. It would be lovely to ovulate this month (esp. as its my first month trying after HyCoSy), but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I know its trivial but I weighed myself this morning, and the weight I lost whilst I had my poorly stomach earlier this year (only half a stone lost) I have put back on again! 3 months to loose it, 1 month to put it back on... meh!

@Juno231 its cruel isnt it! I promise outside these boards I'm a very normal person who does not post angry/emotional streams of consciousness! Just have to get through the next month then send myself private I guess

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/07/2021 08:19

@Kay00 I dont reckon i have ovulated, which is why I count myself as particularly nutso today. Temps are too low for a pregnancy anyways

Juno231 · 02/07/2021 09:40

@TheDaydreamBelievers that chart is so long :( I'm sorry. Vent away! That's what we're here for.

@Lovebug06 how are you?

@MintGreenLife you must be getting close to baba time no??

@Kay00 gah tell me about it. I have zero discipline to lose weight atm, even though I gave myself 6 months to lose a stone - well the 6 months are up in 3 weeks and I've lost maybe 3lbs!

Kay00 · 02/07/2021 10:21

@TheDaydreamBelievers That chart looks all too familiar. I would imagine when you do finally see someone at the fertility clinic they will assume you are not ovulating, and will prescribe you something to kickstart ovulation xx

@Juno231 I just seem to put weight on so easily! It took a chronic stomach condition, lots of pain, and several weeks of strong laxatives for me to loose that 6lb! Sad And a few weeks of eating normally and I'm back to square one. I don't even eat that badly, hardly any bread/pasta/potato, lots of fruit and veg, grains and pulses. My downfall is probably sugary treats though Grin Cake.

I have been learning a lot about PCOS and the relationship with Insulin Resistance. I am lean PCOS, but could still be IR or even diabetic! (although its less likely than if I was overweight), and I do urinate frequently (esp. at night) and have a podgy belly (despite being slim elsewhere) which are both signs of IR. Other signs include sugar cravings and being hungry all the time... which are both big parts of my daily life. I have a call with a GP on Monday to ask for some tests for IR. Hopefully i'm not, but it might explain a few things.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/07/2021 10:28

I hear you both @Juno231 @Kay00 - Im overweight and need to lose weight as I bet its the first thing the fertility clinics will say!

Kay00 · 02/07/2021 11:02

@TheDaydreamBelievers Its possible you have PCOS too given your long random cycles. Apparently 1/10 women has it! If you do then it can make loosing weight quite difficult (I think because of the IR, up to 80% of women with PCOS have IR!). Its definitely worth checking out, as overweight or not it could have implications for your future health xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/07/2021 11:45

@Kay00 hopefully the scans can clear that up... whenever I get to the top of that waitlist!

Moocher90 · 02/07/2021 12:18

I’ve been having ewcm the last few days but I technically didn’t have a proper period this cycle…. I had a few days of spotting last weekend and Monday and literally 1 drop of blood and my OPKs are getting dark again not positive my any stretch by my temp crazy dipped today 35.94 which is low for me…

Not sure whether the covid vaccine caused havoc with my cycle last month as last few cycles I’ve been relatively regular…maybe I am just having an extremely long cycle and might ovulate again before AF….

Kay00 · 02/07/2021 13:32

@Moocher90 hmm, that is all quite odd. Are you sure you ovulated previously? Do you have a chart to share?

MissM94 · 02/07/2021 13:34

Had my blood test, apparently everything is normal but still no AF.. effing sick of it now 😩 what the actual eff is going on with my body?! Got my scan on Tuesday so I can't wait for that to be "normal" too and I'm just sat here wondering why I've no period and what to do about it? Ahhhh the NHS and moody receptionists 🥰😍🥰😍

Happy Friday ladies, hope you're all having a better day than me 😂

Moocher90 · 02/07/2021 13:45

@kay00 I had a blood draw at supposed 7DPO which was when thought I had ovulated as had a few high temps but then they dropped. But my bloods suggested that I didn’t ovulate though

Cams50 · 03/07/2021 11:52

@ChinChilly I’m so so so sorry ❤️❤️❤️ Hope you’re doing ok. Sending you so much love xxx

@TheDaydreamBelievers @Moocher90 I feel your pain! I was referred to the gynae/ fertility in May and still haven’t heard anything and the gp said there was a six month wait. I’m on month 15 now so very frustrated as we all are. Xxx

Kay00 · 04/07/2021 10:41

Morning ladies!

I completed a 24 mile practice walk yesterday and I'm so proud of my body recovering! My feet were a mess, I was limping and had a painful stiff knee last night, but this morning I'm totally fine again. In 3 weeks time I'll be walking 30 miles (50k) two days in a row... and I'm bricking it a little 😬

Randomly FF thinks I ovulated on CD14, but I'm pretty sure I haven't 🤷‍♀️ im sure something like this happens every single cycle for me!

@Kay00 if you did, I think you gave it an excellent shot on the pre-ovulation DTD-ing!

MissC07 · 04/07/2021 19:24

@MissM94 what CD are you now? I'm on CD62 with no AF! The only thing other than stress I can think of is potentially my first covid vaccine I had. My acupuncturist said 3 of her clients have had missed cycles (some two cycles) post vaccine 😩
