After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

@Cams50 we’ve been trying since September but when you are 40 and over they reduce the time you most be trying down to 6 months I believe.

I would try as you never know.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 22/05/2021 08:33

@Cams50 my healthboard and others in scotland are 1+ year trying for under 35s and 6mo+ for over 35s. They then do fertility testing. If they find nothing wrong (aka unexplained) they ask you to wait another year before ivf.

So for me I have been trying to have a baby since March 2020 but since I conceievd in sept would need to wait until sept 2021 for nhs testing

Charliecircle11 · 22/05/2021 09:15

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow my withdrawal bleed has started today. There goes my idea that I will be one of those super fertile women that catch in the first few days is stopping it! Now the fun begins are trying to track my cycle

Cams50 · 22/05/2021 10:30

@Tillybabs thanks! Best of luck with it all xxx

@TheDaydreamBelievers thanks! Yeah I’ve gotten the ball rolling with tests as we’ve been trying over a year now but it feels so unfair that it’s a postcode lottery. Where I live there is no IVF on the NHS but the gp seemed to think we could still try. My DH spoke to the doctor as it was about his SA results and this is a quote from what he text me “He’s referring us to the gynaecology place and they will decide which tests they would like to do or not like to do and also he said we could be in with a chance of IVF on the NHS. When he said that I asked because obviously you’ve said about the area thing and he said as we’ve not been pregnant before and we’ve lived in the area for over a year that’s the kind of quota but he said it’s a grey area and then said about the last two things again so I’m not sure if he’s out of touch and doesn’t know or if they pick and choose a bit dependent on budgets” so who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess I’ll find out more when I finally see someone in the fertility/ gynaecology department. The internet seems to show mixed results. When I Google it immediately says it offers none but then some articles seem to think it’s being reinstated. 🤔

Sorry that you have to wait longer due to your MMC. That shouldn’t be the rule. It should be since a birth because so many women have miscarriages so restarting the waiting every time must be heart breaking.

AllyCat31 · 23/05/2021 10:28

Morning everyone. I hope everyone is doing well. CD7 here and nothing to report.

I did wonder if everyone got crazy hormonal break outs since coming off the pill? And if any one who have been off the pill for 6months+ could give me some hope that it might settle down soon?
I got really greasy skin and hair when I first came off the pill in October which has settled ( I still have more blackheads than I did but i don’t need to wash my hair everyday anymore) but the hormonal painful spots I get when I ovulate and when on my period aren’t reducing. If anything they’re getting worse 😩 I know it’s a sign that my body is working so I shouldn’t complain really

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/05/2021 11:42

@AllyCat31 I get awful cystic-y spots around attempted ovulation. For me, I clearly have hormonal irregularities. Hopefully for you they'll calm down over time!

CD72/9DPO here. Chart moved estimated ovulation today, and we had DTD O, O-1 and O-2 so great coverage if this is true. A super high temp of 36.77C this morning.

Just doing a cheapie each morning so I can get on with my day without too much preggo hope building! I say this but I am clearly building up some hope... silly woman that i am!

AllyCat31 · 23/05/2021 11:49

How long have you been off the pill @TheDaydreamBelievers also that sounds like a good plan. I’m sure you’re covered. So frustrating talking about TTC with anyone that has a regular cycle. They just don’t understand at all!

feliznavidad2 · 23/05/2021 11:53

In 2WW wait here but started spotting late Friday night and now some red blood, it's lighter than a normal period so far though - feel like I'm clutching at straws.

Plan to test tomorrow when I'll be 11dpo. Not convinced though, I think it may well be an earlier than expected period.

@AllyCat31 I get awful cystic acne when AF is due, they never come to a head (annoyingly) Confused but always occur in the same areas. 😒

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/05/2021 12:09

@AllyCat31 since March 2020 so well over a year. This isn't the pill that's impacting me anymore, its clearly an underlying ovulation disorder! Is the acne the classic U shape on the chin? Mine is!

I agree, no offence to anyone that does have a nice normal cycle, but its very frustrating indeed. Even GPs and maternity services (when I was pregnant) don't seem to think/understand - when I conceived in sept they insisted on booking me in for a scan at 10 weeks because of my date of last period, even after I explained. As I said above, Im finding this thread a bit tough sometimes as people are having 3 or 4 TWWs for every 1 of mine (again, no shade to all you lovely lot, its no ones fault, just my own frustrations!)

feliznavidad2 · 23/05/2021 12:13

@TheDaydreamBelievers I didn't realise that's a classic place for cystic acne, mine is always in the exact same areas on my chin. Thanks for sharing.

And sorry to hear about your really long cycles, it must be massively frustrating. Thanks

Juno231 · 23/05/2021 12:30

@AllyCat31 I had really yucky post pill acne. I came off the pill in Sep 2019 and it wasn't until this Christmas 2020 that it disappeared almost over night. Saying that, lots of women have it regardless of post pill effect so I can't guarantee it will go away...

@feliznavidad2 yep hormonal acne related to your cycle loves the chin!

Gracie2021 · 23/05/2021 15:52

@AllyCat31 super spotting around AF then dry skin for start of cycle. Like being a teenager again. Like you I try find the positive that it means the hormones are doing something but one thing I do miss about the pill was the nice skin (jasmin is known for it according to my doctor).

@TheDaydreamBelievers I’m really sorry it so challenging for you. It sucks and it’s really not fair. Fingers crossed that this is your cycle though and coverage sounds great.

@Cams50 that IVF system sounds so unfair. Really hope ye get lucky with it. No one is covered over for anything free here so obviously that sucks but at least everyone is on the same playing field.

Start of cycle. Not sure what day tbh as trying to switch off from it all for a couple weeks. Tried calling about our referral last week but because our health system has been hacked I’ve to try calling this week and hope they’re back up and running. What kind of lowlife do you have to be to hack a country’s medical system in the middle of a pandemic?! Apparently they’re holding cancer patients files hostage and all. Hope karma finds them.

Cams50 · 23/05/2021 16:09

@Gracie2021 I’m actually Irish but living over here for 7 years now! So yeah I should appreciate there’s anything available. I’m being a diva 😂 but I agree just make one rule for the whole country. That’s much more fair. Yeah the hacking is crazy. Of all things to hack, terrible! Ah sorry it’s the start of the cycle. 😔 I try to switch off then AF arrives too. Hope the HSE is up and running for you this week to find out about your referral. Hope you’ve had a nice relaxing weekend x

CaptainGT · 23/05/2021 16:28

Hey all, feels like it's been an age since I last posted. While in the 2ww I've just really been trying to keep my mind of things and not worry/speculate too much. AF due anyday here but I only came off in March/April so could just be fluctuating on a longer cycle.

My partner and I aren't trying exactly but I know certainly for me it's impossible not to be "trying" actively. We've just pulled the goalie and will be delighted if it happens.

Do you think women can't help obsessing?

Charliecircle11 · 23/05/2021 16:44

I only stopped taking the pill on Tuesday and already obsessed! Need to calm down a bit haha

Lovebug06 · 23/05/2021 18:51

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow thankyou for that message, I was having a wobble but I'm okay now ❤️
@Cams50 it's so hard isn't it. I'm not sure if you saw my messages about DH first SA but it has to be re done to double check the results. It's being done in just under 2 weeks. So that has also meant being reffered will take even longer. But at least it's in sight and hopefully we will see if the first test was right or not
@allycat31 I have had this! It does get better it really does. It took about a year for me, I found the bad skin horrendous but it really calmed down after a year. I still get a few, it's not like it used to be but it's so much better. My hair got slightly better but I would say gets greasy a lot quicker than it used to still. Hoping that goes away soon 😂 I do have thin hair though, might depend on what kind of hair you have.

So it's great the rules mean people can now come in our houses as yesterday evening my mum turned up with flowers for me ❤️
I have realised DH SA retest is at the end of the fertile window this month. Not good. He's going to ring and see about moving it as this month will be a write off otherwise. Although I'm also not keen on moving it further away as that makes the referral further. But will see what they say.

Hope you've all had a nice weekend

CaptainGT · 23/05/2021 20:26

@Charliecircle11 haha! Are you trying at all or just "casually" removing the boundaries?

Charliecircle11 · 23/05/2021 20:35

Well I’ve gone from trying not to put too much pressure on ourselves, to ordering a thermometer, downloading natural cycles and ordering ovulation tests in 4 days 😂😂😂

feliznavidad2 · 23/05/2021 20:36

We've all been there @Charliecircle11 🥴

Charliecircle11 · 23/05/2021 20:45

But I think it’s going to be a little bit of time whilst I figure out when I am ovulating and then trying. My Husband thinks I’ve gone slightly mad haha my emotions are all over the place since I came off the pill. What will be will be I am sure ❤️

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/05/2021 21:13

So, AF showed. So I'm pissed off Haha.

@Lovebug06 I'm in Glasgow, literally only place in the country where you cant travel or go in someone else's house

AllyCat31 · 23/05/2021 21:44

@TheDaydreamBelievers I’m in Glasgow too so depressing!

Thank you @Lovebug06 @Gracie2021 @Juno231 and anyone else that’s replied about the skin acne issue. It really got me down today but I’ve done a face steam and a good cleanse (not that skincare will help but it’ll make me feel better) and I’m gonna keep my camera off tomorrow so I can be make up free all day and hope it all heals. I’m thinking it might be the vitamin c supplements too cause I’ve heard that can break you out. Just need to stay patient and hope it gets better and not let myself get down when it’s bad!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 23/05/2021 21:53

@AllyCat31 the worsttttttttt 😭 I'm so sick of it all

Kay00 · 24/05/2021 09:06

Morning ladies! Happy Monday 😊

@thedaydreambelievers so sorry AF showed! We're you 9dpo? It's odd that you had that temp spike just before AF started!? Is AF in full flow?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/05/2021 09:40

@Kay00 not full flow but my temperature dropped like a stone today - 36.77 yesterday, 36.19 today!

Ladies, I think I'm going to take a bit of time away now. This is now when our little one should have been due and Im struggling a bit mentally. Its also my bday and I keep thinking "I was meant to be a mum before xyrs". Anyways, I'll probably be back at some point
