After a chilled garden soiree, it's time to shake things up and head to the cocktail club. Let's get into the spirit(s) - it's a whiskey business TTC so if you're feeling pretty fly grab a Mai Tai and have yourself some Sex on the Beach. Fingers crossed we get some BFP's and keep the Bloody Mary's away. Let the celebrations be-Gin!! Time flys when your having Rum!

Welcome to the 11th (!) post pill party thread for women who have recently come off the pill. Where we can all come and discuss the highs and lows of TTC.

Oh wow! I am learning so much, I don’t know how I got to 33 and not know all of this stuff about my own body!!!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/05/2021 10:28

@Charliecircle11 I was the same! On the pill for 13 years and noooo idea that it worked by stopping ovulation. Thought that my cycles would be normal cause I had a bleed each month on the pill. How wrong I was!

Charliecircle11 · 21/05/2021 10:38

Looking forward to knowing me again! It’s all exciting though

Tillybabs · 21/05/2021 13:12

Hi ladies

So I had my first fertility appt this morning. Annoyingly they called me at 9.15am to say we could go in person but the appointment was at 10 so we said no will do it online.

So she asked us both questions about our history and lifestyle etc. And said we fit the criteria for IVF on the nhs so she will get the ball rolling but it will be dependant on my egg reserves.

So when I have my next period, I have to call them to go straight in for a scan and bloods. They will then do another test after to see if my tubes are blocked.

OH has to give a SA and then depending on the results of my egg reserves, I will start IVF.

I’m not getting my hopes up yet but I’m glad We are having the tests which will hopefully give some answers.

Charliecircle11 · 21/05/2021 13:46

Glad you have made a step forward, wishing you lots of luck and sending positive thoughts x

mrsmacmc · 21/05/2021 16:11

Hey ladies sorry been very quiet from me at the cocktail club. Scan results discussion today with GP and nothing showing - very frustrating! Booked in for 'day 21' bloods 🩸 and DH to book in for a consultation so they can raise a 💦 analysis check. Referral going into the hospital too for the clinic but she couldn't tell me how long the wait would be 😩 feeling rather deflated

Baby dust ✨ and love to all ❤️❤️

FlyingGiraffe · 21/05/2021 17:04

Hi ladies, how's everyone doing?

@mrsmacmc Hopefully your bloods/DH's check shows up something they can work with. How long have you been trying again? Is the referral for fertility? I have been referred to gynaecology but given no time frame either so I get the frustration.

@Tillybabs Sounds positive that you're a good candidate for IVF. Fingers crossed for you! Do you know when they may start treatment?

@Charliecircle11 Welcome! Hope in the best possible way that you don't have to stay at the party too long! Haha!

@Juno231 That's really weird it's changed it to cross hairs?! What happens if you put in a higher temp tomorrow? Do you get any ovulation pain at all?

@ChinChilly Congrats on the 3+ test!

I had my first acupuncture appointment this morning. I'm 4dpo today and so after talking about my history and taking my pulse/looking at my tongue(!) etc. he used needles in my feet, stomach, wrists and ears. He then used an infrared light and electric current over the ones on my stomach which was bizarre. It's felt strange ever since so I think it's doing something?! Whether that's good or not, we'll have to wait and see! @MissC07 @Gracie2021 How many sessions have you had? How often are you going? I'm booked back in for next week and looking forward to it. I'm hoping I can get to that appointment at 9dpo without spotting (but that's probably unrealistic after one session!)

mrsmacmc · 21/05/2021 17:47

@FlyingGiraffe acupuncture sounds interesting!

14 months so well over the 12 months TTC for being an old burd of 35 😆 it's a referral to the 'sub fertility' clinic. My referral to gynae & scan took 8 weeks if that helps you out - I did have to chase though - GP told me to hassle them if I hadn't heard anything in 2 weeks.

It's a weird feeling as it's good to know they couldn't see anything but feel deflated too as they didn't go aha! here is an issue 😩

Hope everyone has a R&R weekend. I've got leave on Monday so that's a bonus ❤️❤️

Juno231 · 21/05/2021 18:31

@FlyingGiraffe ooh can I ask how much it costs? I see so many ladies on MN do acupuncture but the ones near me are like £70 per session so I don't know how OH would feel about that when he thinks its all hocus pocus anyway!

I used to get ovulation pain the first few months after coming off the pill but now it's very sporadic. I will say though - I don't trust it one bit since I had a pelvic ultrasound once where they confirmed I had ovulated from my left and I had felt "ovulation" pain on my right! Consultant said the pain can be just large follicles rubbing and not necessarily ovulation at all...

If I put a high temp in tomorrow it stays dotted! But if I remove the EWCM from CD11 it becomes solid... Which is weird cause I can def get EWCM quite a few days before OD normally. Thanks for helping me figure it out!

@mrsmacmc I completely get it, I keep wishing they'd found something with us as well - it feels pretty crappy not to know why it's not working. It also means we have to stupidly wait until the 2 year mark for IVF whereas if there had been something tangibly wrong they could have gotten the ball rolling much sooner.

@Tillybabs so happy it went well and that there's a game plan in place! Did she say if you're gonna have a hycosy or HSG? Remember to try and book it for before ovulation as you can't TTC in the run up to it. Fingers crossed your AMH is good x

Tillybabs · 21/05/2021 18:46

@FlyingGiraffe no start date yet and it will be dependant on my egg reserves.

I’ve got to now wait until AF comes before I can have the first lot of tests and I’m CD 8 now.

@Juno231 thanks yes it’s great to have a plan in place. It will be a HSG. I didn’t realise you can’t TTC in the run up so will try and book it to coincidence before ovulation thanks.

Tillybabs · 21/05/2021 18:50

@Charliecircle11 welcome to the party!

@Kat668 I had my first Pfizer jab yesterday too! I feel fine so far

Juno231 · 21/05/2021 18:56

@tillybabs yes it's cause they don't want to risk you being pregnant as the tube flush would flush out any embryo. Mine was super strict about it and if you said you'd BD'd when they asked they'd cancel the whole thing.

Speaking of jabs - I'm 33 and went on the NHS website today and manage to book one in for Tuesday! Rather excited but also a bit worried as I'll be 7DPO then.

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 21/05/2021 19:02

@Charliecircle11 we will be able to compare cycles then! What pill were you on?

@chinchilly congrats on your 3+!!

@Juno231 do you only get cross hairs if you temp? That's really interesting about ovulation pains, I guess it isn't something worth paying too much attention to then.

@tillybabs that sounds positive! Good luck. Hopefully you can start treatment soon, did they give you any idea of timescales?

@mrsmacmc sorry you're feeling deflated. Hopefully something shows up that can be dealt with there, I understand what you mean about being glad there isn't an issue but also being irritated there isn't something to fix. And hopefully you don't wait too long for the appointment.

@FlyingGiraffe ooh the acupuncture sounds good! I love things like that. Is it meant to help implantation or just fertility in general? I've got some Chinese ear seeds, they're basically little seeds that stimulate acupressure points in your ears. I've only used them for appetite and anxiety but they seem to help (possibly just placebo effect but I'm not complaining)

Charliecircle11 · 21/05/2021 19:37

I was on Yasmin, when did you stop? I’ve got a few low pains that feels like ovulation but may just be in my head!

Tillybabs · 21/05/2021 19:56

@Juno231 Ok that makes total sense. I’m sure they will tell me that when it comes to it.

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow no they didn’t and I didn’t even think to ask. But she did say the HSG wound happen shortly after the initial tests. OH has to give his sample as soon as possible

feliznavidad2 · 21/05/2021 20:11

Congrats on the 3+ @ChinChilly 😊 lovely news!

8dpo here, feeling really sicky and gassy so did a FRER this eve and surprise surprise, it was negative. Don't know whether to test tomorrow or try and hold out until Saturday.

Been feeling not right since about 3dpo (which I know is ridiculous!) 😖

FlyingGiraffe · 21/05/2021 21:21

@mrsmacmc Have you had bloods before now or will the day 21 be the first set you've had done? Yeah, I hear you on being an 'old burd!' - I'm kind of wishing we started trying earlier but we didn't feel it was the right time until last year! Hope you enjoy your extra day off on Monday!

@Juno231 No, I don't mind at all! I paid £45 for today which was about 1hr15 (but he did run over...too much talking I think!) and went over problems and history first. Next time he said it will be an hour but I think maybe less and that will be £40. From what I've seen on the acupuncture thread, that's pretty cheap. I am in Wales so I think where you are may have an influence on price. My DH is a bit sceptical but honestly, I'm still feeling like a dull ache around my ovaries and liver where he put the needles so I do (maybe naively!) feel like it's doing something. In the leaflet I took it mentions it's usually around 6 sessions so i'll let you know how I get on. Glad your chart is looking to make a bit more sense!

@Sunshinedaisybuttermellow It's meant to help fertility in general but they focus on different areas at different times of the month. The Chinese ear seeds sound interesting! He mentioned about Chinese herbs and said to think about whether I wanted to try them. I don't think I will but it's good to know its an option!

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 21/05/2021 21:56

@Charliecircle11 I was on cilique, I think it was a cheap cillest. I last took one on the 12th, and started bleeding on 17th so treating that as cd1. Stopped bleeding now, so just waiting for ovulation. I'm hoping I have a "normal" cycle straight away, because it would mean ovulating just after the bank holiday weekend which we happen to be child free for 🤞🤞

Oh I like the sound of that @FlyingGiraffe. I'm quite into alternative medicine and therapies. A friend of mine does reiki and crystal healing. I'm not sure how much of it I believe, but I find it very therapeutic and relaxing.

mrsmacmc · 21/05/2021 22:11

@FlyingGiraffe they wouldn't entertain bloods 🩸 until they were doing the referral 🤷‍♀️

I did do the AMH test through Superdrug Dr service and it came back within normal parameters and no indication of PCOS which again is good but doesn't help demystify what's going on.

I don't have a lot of faith in the local dept as the gynae dept missed a plum sized cyst a few years ago.

My biggest concern is they will focus on weight as they are obsessed with pinning everything on being overweight in my local healthboard Hmmand dismiss me until my BMI is lower. I have checked info on the healthboard website and I'm under their criteria of a BMI of 35 or less for initial referral but not for IVF which isn't something we would look unless we really need too where BMI needs to be 29 which would make me look like skelator!

Very much looking forward to my wee extra day off on Monday - kitchen refit starts then - finally Grin

Lovebug06 · 21/05/2021 22:34

I was 14dpo yesterday but the last two cycles I've been a day late. As expected its come, but literally just has, so I've waited all day. This is now cycle 18.(with a year of doctors help before that so it feels like forever) I have kept upbeat and positive and I'm sure in a couple of days I will be again. But there is only so long I can keep this up. I feel like I realistically am not just going to get pregnant now. I'm probably being emotional but however positive I try to be, the absolute heartache I feel every month is getting worse. I truly wouldn't wish this pain on anyone.
I know there are others far worse off, but right now my heart hurts so so badly.

Sunshinedaisybuttermellow · 21/05/2021 23:26

Oh @Lovebug06 I'm so sorry Flowers

MissC07 · 21/05/2021 23:39

Hi ladies, sorry I've been a bit quiet the last few days. I've had a horrendous week at work. And after a very very long and hard decision, I'm going to hand my resignation in next week (I have a 2 month notice period) as it's really an awful place to work and affecting me mentally. I don't have another job yet but I'm hoping I find one. We've decided to put TTC off for a year although that's also been weighing heavily on my mind as I'm 33 this year and OH is 39. I'm definitely not going back on the pill though!! I hope everyone is doing ok ❤️

Cams50 · 22/05/2021 07:06

@Lovebug06 I’m sorry. It really does get harder every month. I’m on month 13 but more cycles than that as some have been short so I really do get it. You’re not alone in these feelings ❤️❤️❤️ What’s the latest with your DH’s SA? Mine had his results back this week so he said he’ll refer us now so hoping I here something soon.

@MissC07 well done that’s very brave! Totally sounds like you did the right thing leaving. I hope you find a new job quickly. Sorry that you have to take a break from ttc but you have to do what’s right for you!

@FlyingGiraffe your acupuncture sounds great! So many people have said how good it is now. I’d love to try but the thought of the needles scares me a bit!!

Cams50 · 22/05/2021 07:06

*hear

Cams50 · 22/05/2021 07:12

@Tillybabs also that’s good news about the investigations and potential IVF. Do you mind me asking how long you’ve been trying? They don’t offer IVF on the NHS in my area but our GP seemed to think we could still potentially apply and they might but I’m not sure how likely that is.
