@BellaBella1984 thank you, I just read that a fever can lower sperm count for up to six months so it worried me and also the changes to people’s cycles that have been reported worry me. I think I’m just a worrier though! Xxx

Loulou237 · 19/05/2021 07:27

@feliznavidad2 @bez91 @SLCxxxthank you for your opinions too! I’m totally torn but I agree it would be worse to have covid when pregnant for example. Xxx

Heya ladies,

I'd like to join this thread!

I'm on cycle 4 of TTC, though I recently got a new job in an organisation I work for and as I'm very career driven I was wondering whether or not we should put TTC on hold. I was at first going to go back on the pill but we decided against it as I have endometriosis. Though, surprisingly my periods have not been horrendous. I do get terrible bloating and pain at times, but they are rather regular and last 5 days.

I came off the pill in December after being on them continually for 12 years and have had 4 periods since. I am using clear blue advance digital ovulation kits.

I tend to go from not fertile to peak and it tends to be happening around the same time of my cycle. I've bought a thermometer to start temping.

We DTD Sunday evening and I took an ovulation test which showed peak.. I then took a cheapy on Monday and it was 2 strong lines. We DTD last night too..

Do you think we covered my fertile window?

Even though I'm looking forward to starting this new job, a family is my priority.

Baby dust to all you wonderful women 💫

@bez91 great news about ovulation!

For those not sure about the vax ive had my first one amd second on Saturday, it didn't effect my cycle at all and I've seen lots of ladies get their bfp after having it. Spoke to gp as well as it's right around ov that mine is booked and she said no reason not to have it at all, the effects of having Covid on pregnant women and their babies are far worse than any side effects of having the jab

Hi @Capricorn8990 I'd say you've covered your fw ok. I too have suspected endometriosis but it took a fair while after coming off the pill (over 3 years ago) for it to start getting bad. I have managed to get pregnant but had 2 x mc and 2 x cp that I know of so they're not sticking!

Capricorn8990 · 19/05/2021 09:31

@Marvellouslymadmum I am sorry to hear about your losses. I hope the next one sticks for you. Endometriosis is cruel. For me, it makes me question how good I am at being a woman.. I have stage 1 but with coming off the pill it can get worse so I fear that it may have got worse already. Xxx

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/05/2021 09:35

@Capricorn8990 thank you, I didn't have a clue about the endo before, though looking back now I had terrible af after my daughter (now 15) and they just took my implant out and stuck me on the pill and I was on it for 12 ish years so I think it just covered it up! I've got a gynaecologist appt at the end of august so hopefully they'll agree to a lap and check properly. There's so many women who have it, definitely not bad at being a woman! Xx

Capricorn8990 · 19/05/2021 09:49

@Marvellouslymadmum always feels like the only option we have is being put on the pill. I hope you get your laparoscopy. If you'd like to talk about it please feel free to message me. I got mine in April 2018 after 9-10 years of going back and forth to the doctor who said I had IBS. I have endo on my bowel and bladder so it presents as IBS and I get recurring water infections too.

Fingers crossed they identify it and can see where it may be! Xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/05/2021 10:16

@Capricorn8990 thank you, I've seen so many stories of people being misdiagnosed and stuck on the pill! I also get water infections a lot it drives me crazy! Xx

davidrosejumper · 19/05/2021 12:37

@Loulou237, I yesterday had a chat with the OBGYN consultant about it. I was there for another reason, but thought to ask anyway, as I am due AZ second jab in a week or two. I asked whether I should postpone TTC for a while after that to ensure the foetus' health. She said there is a lot more evidence out there nowadays of the vaccine's effects on TTC and pregnancy, and was adamant about the need to be vaccinated. (I am in one of the locations where the Indian variant is rapidly gaining ground, so this may have played into it as well.) She suggested I only needed to wait a week or so with TTC after having had my second jab. I am just going ahead with the second one now, and will hopefully TTC from next cycle onwards.

If you fall pregnant and have not received any vaccine yet, they suggest Pfizer after 12 weeks, I believe. My friend in the US has received hers recently at 20 weeks pregnant. She felt comfortable doing it after two failed pregnancies, and being desperate for this one to work.

Canadadarlingg · 19/05/2021 14:41

I have been having cramping today (9dpo) and noticed a very small amount of light brown discharge when I wiped earlier (sorry TMI) which seems to be gone now. AF is due in 5/6 days according to both my apps and it never comes early for me, I also never have spotting before my period. This is my 1st cycle after mc so I'm aware my cycle may be messed up so I'm not getting my hopes up too high. If this was implantation bleeding when could I test with a FRER? I don't want to test too early and still be unsure about the results

Capricorn8990 · 19/05/2021 15:02

@Canadadarlingg I would wait a couple more days as if you're pregnant the hormone levels may not be strong enough to detect it in a home pregnancy test, though FRERs are very good. I hope this is implantation for you xx

Canadadarlingg · 19/05/2021 15:16

@Capricorn8990 do you think 12dpo would be too early (3 days)? I know the best thing to do would probably be wait till my expected period...Really hoping this could be implantation but feels like that would be too perfect! 🤞🏻

Capricorn8990 · 19/05/2021 15:38

@Canadadarlingg it's sooo hard to wait but I think 12 DPO would be more reliable than now 🤞🏼🤞🏼xxx

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/05/2021 15:55

@Canadadarlingg 12dpo should be ok to test 🤞🏻🤞🏻 for you

Loulou237 · 19/05/2021 16:03

@davidrosejumper and @Marvellouslymadmum thanks so much for all the information. I think I will be going for it, eek xxx

Canadadarlingg · 19/05/2021 16:05

@Capricorn8990 @Marvellouslymadmum thank you I'm going to hold off till Saturday and hopefully a FRER should pick it up by then! Will update once I have don't it :)

Marvellouslymadmum · 19/05/2021 16:17

@Loulou237 hope it goes well

@Canadadarlingg ooh good luck!!

Capricorn8990 · 19/05/2021 16:35

@Canadadarlingg best of luck! Xx

susiebluebell · 19/05/2021 19:07

Welcome @Capricorn8990! Interested to hear your thoughts around career and TTC. What industry are you in, if it's not too personal?

I'm 30 and currently at uni. Before now I've just had 'job jobs' and moved countries a couple of times, so I'm really just starting in my industry. We've discussed it and think, on balance, TTC now while I'm a student would be better than when I'm newly qualified and need to put everything towards my work. We recently found out that my OH has been accepted to study a one-year thing from September as well, so in some ways it would be ideal to have a baby in the next year. We'd both be studying, but have very flexible schedules and be at home most of the time.

(All this to say that I'm on cd45, still no period, still no call back from the GP 🙄)

Capricorn8990 · 19/05/2021 19:38

@susiebluebell I work for the Police! Waiting for my vetting to come back for the move but it's taking a while..

I think you've got to do what's best for you guys and don't put off having a family if the time feels right xxx

Acebobase · 19/05/2021 21:22

@Lollipop25 I really feel for you - my B and SIL have just announced they are expecting twins when my second loss would have been due and just a week and a half after my third mc
I'm over the moon for them but as it's so close to home it just emphasises our loss and will be a constant reminder

Thanks! I think it will work for us.

So interesting that you work for the police! So many questions I want to ask 😛

susiebluebell · 19/05/2021 22:58

@Lollipop25 Can I join the others in sympathising so much with you. I've had a horrible time dealing with my feelings around other pregnancies and babies. It does get easier over time, and you learn to distance yourself. But it can be very hard.

Lollipop25 · 19/05/2021 23:19

Thank you @Twinkles18 @bez91 @SLCxxx @Acebobase and @susiebluebell , it's difficult for all of us who have had a loss
Not feeling as emotional today about it, I'm would hate for her to think I wasn't happy for her. I rem after my first mc, my SIL who was pregnant at the time had her scan and discovered it was twins, still to this day she thinks I was overcome with happy tears, in fairness I kept both mcs private so they didn't know. Anyway 🤞for a few more BFPs for us 🤗

subbysammiexoxo · 20/05/2021 01:46
