Really fed up of AF showing up month after month now 🤦🏼‍♀️ we've been taking the see what happens but dtd lots approach. But now going into month 7 so We've decided to use the clear blue opk's to see if it gives us a better chance. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Now to just wait for AF to disappear 😀

Any one else ttc #1? 😀

Yeah you're probably right @Amy259. Period has almost gone now. Not been too bad this cycle again. Only 2nd day medium flow otherwise it's all light. Put on a bit of weight recently so not feeling the best. It's just from the month off of eating strict and enjoying annual leave so need to get back to that. It's fine but just don't like feeling rubbish then feeling fat on top of it 😂.

How did your scan go??

How are things with you @AZ1992X? Same old AF?

Amy259 · 15/08/2021 14:00

@Loops01 yeah I always enjoy a wee break from healthy eating but then hate feeling a bit sluggish and bloated afterwards!

Scan was fine - she was a consultant gynae so it was brilliant because I could ask her all my questions! Lining was thick, ovaries fine, tubes looked fine but obv she can’t tell 100%. She advised me to pay for a HyCoSy privately and then just wait for NHS referral because she’s pretty sure everything else is grand. She said it’s really common to fall preg after the procedure because it can flush out any kinks etc.

Loops01 · 15/08/2021 15:34

@Amy259 that's great then! Some reassurance in some way! Do you have anywhere that does the hycosy privately as I couldn't find. If you do - let me know how much as I have heard about the flushing out and the pregnancy! Tried everything else eh?!

Amy259 · 15/08/2021 15:41

@Loops01 there are loads near me, just because we’re in the central belt. What about the Aberdeen Fertility Clinic, surely they’ll do it??

Everywhere here is around the £500 mark. I’m not sure if you can do it without a consultation though, which is another £200 on top.. so it’s not cheap. But I can’t ignore that a consultant advised us to try it… so I might phone a couple of the clinics and enquire.

Loops01 · 15/08/2021 20:55

Just looked and yeah they have for £350 which is better price I guess. A lot more than I thought really. Don't think there are clinics that do it though. Just them or maybe like private private but I do not have the insurance or money for that! Even just seeing 1 round of private ivf is crazy. I don't understand why they make it so expensive. Such a shame.

AZ1992X · 16/08/2021 07:44

Morning all 😌

Glad your scan went ok @Amy259
How are you feeling at the minute? Are you still testing?

AF has gone back to my usual - last cycle was different as my period was really short and v light which I think may be why I ovulated earlier so not sure when it’ll come this month now 😂🙈.

Amy259 · 16/08/2021 08:03

@Loops01 I think it’s unlikely they’d scan without consult so I’m probably looking at the £200 on top too. Sadly private health insurance doesn’t cover fertility, so even if you had it it wouldn’t matter - which seems crazy to me. It is a fair whack of money but at the same time there’s nothing I’d rather spend money on, so I think it’s likely I’ll book one - I’ll see what GP says at 8:30 when she calls.

@AZ1992X that’s good that af is back on track - hopefully that means your lining is back to normal, so your bleed is back normal too. Yeah I’ll probably test each morning now, I don’t have the patience to just wait 😂

Loops01 · 16/08/2021 09:34

Let us know how it goes if you decide to pay for it. What's your gp call about?

AF gone now. Day 5 now but day 4 was barely any bleeding which is pretty normal for me. Another waiting game. Not going to begin testing for another 5 or 6 days at least. Might just wait til cm changes. Such a faff it all is!

Also had another pregnancy announcement last night! Got pretty down and to save myself from crying again or taking it out on DH I just went to bed. I don't even like or know many people (😂) but they just all seem to be pregnant. I've started to get the 'itll be you next' now. What because there's no1 left...?! If only it was that easy.

What day are you @AZ1992X cd5 too?

Amy259 · 16/08/2021 20:53

@Loops01 call with gp was to talk about the waiting times etc and I wanted to know if I paid for diagnostics could I skip gynae referral and go straight to fertility. The problem with Glasgow is that there’s no fertility clinic for simply talking it out and making plans etc (like there are in Dundee, Falkirk, Aberdeen, Edinburgh) - so after gynae it’s straight to assisted conception. Which is a big jump! You literally see no one as a couple before the point of offering you IUI/IVF, it’s just women’s health, men’s health, onto assisted.

So I’m weighing up moving health board so we can be under the care of a fertility doctor without that meaning we must be undergoing assisted. Where we live now has an NHS fertility clinic that take you under their care before advising tests and next step etc, which just seems more logical to me. I hope that all made sense? A lot to think about.

I didn’t realise you were opking again this month - is this you just using them up?

We had another one on Saturday too, brutal. Feels like we may actually be the only ones left!

Loops01 · 16/08/2021 21:51

@Amy259 yeah testing to use up also because I think my cycle is back to normal now but we can't always bd every second day or so because of work so just makes sense.

Last cycle of isos, evening primrose and all other vits though. Got them all in a pink tub. I'm pretty much rattling where ever I go haha.

See that's weird that Glasgow doesn't have but then I would also prefer to go straight to assisted but I'm really impatient and get fed up!

God I already feel like we are. I genuinely don't know anyone else who could apart from you two! Where are you in your cycle now or you just waiting for AF to arrive?

AZ1992X · 17/08/2021 07:53

Morning all!

@Loops01 yes was cd5 yday so now cd6 so AF pretty much over.

Debating if to opk this cycle now just as I’ll be worrying if my cycle is back to normal or early ovulation again. Will probably wait and see how I get on and what will cause less stress.

That sounds like a lot to think about @Amy259 , how are you feeling today?

Amy259 · 17/08/2021 08:04

@Loops01 you’d think it would be faster but it actually means it takes a lot longer to get any help, so it’s not great.

@AZ1992X I’m okay, another bfn this morning so I think it’s safe to say I’m out again - feel quite pre-af like too 💔 brutal.

I think I’ve definitely binned the OPKs for good going forward though. So much less stressful and my body is so obviously in fw/ovulating that I’ve probably been wasting money all this time. We’ll struggle this cycle though as we’re going on a walking-camping holiday in the outer Hebrides over fw, and I don’t want to ruin the trip by feeling we have to DTD every two days in a tent with our dogs. So may have a month off, see what DH thinks.

Loops01 · 17/08/2021 15:26

@Amy259 sorry to hear that it's the same again this month. It is horrible.

Yeah @AZ1992X we are the same! I'm hoping that I'll have a 28 day cycle since this last one was 30. Normally a lesser one after the 30 but we will see. So likely peak won't be until cd17 or so. 10 days to go.

AZ1992X · 17/08/2021 15:26

@Amy259 I hope it isn’t but I think by now we can tell if AF is on its way. Have you been carrying on with your bbt?

Ah, that might be difficult! Let us know what you decide.

I booked a nice romantic getaway early September but because this cycle was much earlier AF is due the day we go unless I get a bfp this cycle 😂 actually sums my luck.

Amy259 · 18/08/2021 16:49

@Loops01 @AZ1992X update…

So the private sector of the Glasgow Royal clinic don’t offer stand alone testing - you need to sign up to a full (assisted conception) treatment plan.

GCRM are currently the same, but do offer it normally, they’re just closed to outpatients because they have a backlog. So they put me on the waiting list and it would be £500 for the hycosy on its own. Waiting list only opened today so they basically said they’ll call if they get cancellations or have space etc.

Ross Hall are £500 for the scan and £200-250 for a consult, because they won’t do it on a GP referral so I’d need to see one of their consultants first. They’re also keen for a full treatment plan but will do just the consult + hycosy if I push for it.

So not quite as simple as just booking somewhere it turns out!

How are you both doing? AZ that’s absolutely our luck too 😂 of course our fw this time falls in the one week we’ll be living out a tent! But hopefully you’ll get your bfp and it’ll be the best romantic getaway ever!

Loops01 · 18/08/2021 20:06

@AZ1992X bloody typical in the literal sense! Hopefully it's not... Do you think maybe the cycle will be later? I had that 26 day cycle so early then the usual 30 day. Wonder how the body decides how long it'll be!

@Amy259 that's very confusing! Sounds like so much effort. I mean would you go for the treatment alongside as a just in case or a try or just scan only?

Had a friend today that I was speaking to about it and she said that he friend had pcos and really irregular cycles and is trying for a 2nd but is onto some injections as apparently she hasn't had a proper cycle since his birth or something. It took her under a year to get pregnant with her first. I was just a bit like ffs this doesn't help. Totally fed up still. I hoped this feeling would pass but nope. I'm not giving up in trying but just really don't think this is going to work and I don't know why because I don't think there's any real issues.

AZ1992X · 18/08/2021 20:44

@Amy259 yes defo doesn’t seem straight forward! Let us know how you get on.

It’s so hard trying to plan ttc isn’t it - can imagine it would be hard whilst away camping!

Part of me is hoping my cycles back to normal which would hopefully mean AF wouldn’t be during the break/getaway but I enjoyed the shorter cycle this month too. A bfp would defo make it even better but not getting my hopes up too much.

NewMumHopeful · 19/08/2021 14:33

Afternoon ladies ☺️ Been a while since I’ve been on here (2 cycles and yet another friend falling pregnant first try long to be exact ha ha☹️) how are we all?
Just skimmed through and seen a few talk of throwing away the OPKs and various scans, on a similar wavelength tbh ha was so tempted to just give myself a break this month as I get so neurotic over it all. Also paid for a private gynae scan (not down with waiting up to 12 weeks on NHS list argh) and apparently looked all good down there, lining nice and thick for the time of cycle no cysts or polyps. She did say my left ovary showing typical signs of PCOS however right one looked normal, any PCOS gals in here? Makes sense as to why my cycles are so long I guess but would be nice if anyone has any tips or success stories to cheer me up ☹️
Baby dust to you all ✨

Amy259 · 19/08/2021 15:52

@Loops01 I don’t really want to start down the assisted conception route yet - nor do I want to part with £6k a cycle when we’d get 3 on the nhs if we needed it. That’s why I just want the hycosy on its own, so I think I’ll just mull it over for a few weeks then decide what to do.

@AZ1992X husband seems keen to give it a go in the tent so we’ll see 😂😂

@NewMumHopeful 12 weeks on the NHS?! I’ve been told 12 months in Glasgow so I’d bite their hand off for 12 weeks to see a gynae consultant 😂

Loops01 · 19/08/2021 16:00

@Amy259 yeah that's a good point. So much money for something that should be so natural. Shame. Well if you feel like it would put your mind at ease and potentially increase the chances then you have my backing!

@NewMumHopeful Yeah 12 weeks isn't too bad. Effectively 2 or 3 cycles but it is horrible having to wait in general. How many cycles in are you again? Sorry I don't think any of us 3 left have pcos symptoms or diagnosis. Myself and Amy had a private scan and nothing showed up on either of that sort so sorry can't help you there. How long are your cycles again?

Amy259 · 19/08/2021 22:03

@Loops01 it’s so frustrating isn’t it? I’m aware I’m preaching to the choir and don’t have to tell you how I feel - I would just love for it to happen naturally rather than go through the pressure/hell of IVF (too many podcasts!). I also want to hold onto the surprise element for my husband and our family etc too, and you give all that up once you go down the treatment route. So I’d like to cling on to hope a bit longer but it’s really tough 💔

@NewMumHopeful sorry I forgot to answer the PCOS part until I read the comment above - like loops said, I don’t have any advice there I’m afraid, but I’m sure if you have a legit diagnosis you get help faster than unexplained issues? So if you can get the private scan place to write to your GP, maybe your referral to gynae will be changed and sped up?

Loops01 · 19/08/2021 22:27

@Amy259 I totally get you. It's a shame that this not being as easy or as quick as we thought. I asked dh today that if we did get pregnant naturally within the next 6m who would he tell and when. He was saying happy to tell family after 4wks and then whomever after 12wks. I was like I don't want to tell anyone until after 20wks. But the job that we do we would have to tell as soon as so not sure how that would work. Also if im honest I don't want to tell dy straight away. I want to cling onto some sort of surprise too but also I want to enjoy it and get my head around it all first. Dh has been better the last few cycles but otherwise he isn't that fussed about it taking longer or anything. He isn't really prepared to be a dad I'd say. Not in the way of he won't be a good one just he is the person that deals with things when presented whereas I deal with them before they present lol. He said about putting the crib his side of the bed. I was like absolutely not 😂 you'd never wake up. Probably end up peeing on the baby due lack of sleep and forgetting the crib being there and thinking it's the toilet 😂. He's not that useless but still

AZ1992X · 20/08/2021 05:07

Morning all!

Sorry I woke up and cannot sleep. Had a huge spanner thrown in this cycle - OH has had a positive COVID test, somehow mines negative (for now anyways) so am trying to stay away but how do we ttc this cycle. Really don’t want to miss a cycle 🤷‍♀️

@Amy259 great he’s prepared to give it a go 😂, at least you won’t feel like you’ve wasted a cycle if you don’t try!

@NewMumHopeful sorry not sure I’m much help either but I’d definitely get in tough with your GP and see if they can do anything.

Amy259 · 20/08/2021 08:13

@Loops01 I wouldn’t even tell my parents until after an early scan, which I’d get at 8 weeks. That’s our plan, assuming we get the chance. And I wouldn’t tell DH until maybe 5 weeks - I hadn’t told him by the time I had the chemical (I then told him obviously) and it’s a small saving grace that I didn’t do the “surprise!” moment for it to end sadly - so would definitely wait until after a missed period. But I think it’s all personal preference! I have a friend who told everyone super super early because if something had went wrong, she’d want us to know she was going through that. Which I totally get too, plus I think if I’d fallen early on I wouldn’t have as much fear so maybe wouldn’t overthink it as much as I do now?

@AZ1992X oh my, that’s a real tricky situation. Are you double jabbed? I’m honestly not sure what I’d do - originally I was going to say if I wasn’t double jabbed and had to isolate anyway, I’d just accept I was probably going to catch it. But I also wouldn’t want Covid! So maybe not…
If you’re able to fully separate the house (we only have one shower/bath, so we couldn’t) and are planning to stay apart otherwise, then I’m not sure you can try this month…? You could turkey baster it but he’ll still have touched the pot so it’s probably just as risky. When is your fw? Maybe he’ll test negative again before then…

AZ1992X · 20/08/2021 09:19

My plan was to tell my family & friends after 12 weeks and anyone else after 20weeks. I’m defo sticking with that as wouldn’t want to have to tell anyone if anything was to happen again.

@Amy259 Yup, we’re both double jabbed. We’re currently separated but share the kitchen/bathroom so not fully - I expect I’ll probably catch it. I’m on CD 9 and think it was around 16-17 last cycle so have a week unless it’s back to my regular cycle which would be around CD20 which would be fine.

Argh 😔
